We were there for the first time and we definitely going back. Service was very good and food too. My favorite plate was camarones a la diabla. Horchata wasn’t too good but I told the waitress and he changed it for another drink.

We ate there and the food was nasty. My husband did like the chili Verde and my crunchy taco was OK. But the enchiladas were horrible as was the rice. Salsa was also yucky. Our server was OK.

6÷17÷16: Was heading out to Yosemite(and wow… little did I know we were about to meet President Obama!!!) and we decided to stop here before continuing the 3−4hr drive. I’d have to say, I was pretty impressed! One of the better sit-down American Mexican places I’ve had in the past couple years. The food was cooked pretty well and portions were ginormous. We only got appetizers though, but honestly 2 of the 3 appetizers we had were plenty enough for a big guy. 1. Street Tacos $ 9(appetizer): I think this, compared to the other two dishes, was not as impressive. Average«street tacos». We got different meats: chicken, steak, and pork. Nothing special here. 5⁄10 2. Mini Chimichangas $ 9: Dude, these were great! Think 1 ½ big chimichanga but as 5 smaller ones. Steak was good. Not the most flavorful out there but was fine. But it was a lot of food and hit the spot. 7⁄10 3. Empanadas $ 11: Yummy! 5 fried pockets with a corn meal shell. Was delicious. I think we were able to get them to give us 4 – 5 different meats, a different one for each. That was awesome of them and really appreciated. 7⁄10 4. And oh… A sht ton of Guac!!! They must have given us a whole Safeway container of guacamole with our 3 appetizers. I’ve never seen any Mexican restaurant so generous with guacamole before, all for«free»! And it was good guac too! 10⁄10 – thanks! This place would have been one of the last few towns before entering the void. So, it’s quite likely we’d end up here again someday. 4⁄5 #mexican

AWSOME place for large group. Nice setting and they have some signature cocktail like the michelada and Bloody Mary. The guacamole is made table side as spicy as you want it. I had a shrimp cocktail and although it didn’t know my sock off it was still a good cocktail. Services was slow but maybe we had too large of a group for them on a weekday. I would certainly recommend and will eat here again.

Where do I start. Service was a long wait, my chicken was so dry it was so tough to swallow, my dad orders a chile relleno. The sauce tasted like the Prego spaghetti sauce. That enough to make me not wanna go back. And I love Mexican food it’s my favorite.

Had dinner her last night with my girlfriends. Our service was good(as opposed to other reviews of slow service). Table side guac was not that flavorful and done so fast that no one saw her make it. I thought the prices were a little high even thought I have to say the portions were ample. I had the chimichanga with shredded beef. Very big portion and the shredded meat was good. My Sangria was in a huge glass and was flavorful. Everyone seemed to like their food. We all had to-go containers filled with lefter overs. I did like that they kept the chip basket full. The salsa was spicy. The plus was that even though they had TV on, it was closed caption so it didn’t interfere with our conversation.

This place is great. Food was amazing, drink was perfect. My favorite though was the table side guacamole! Huberto and his family have built this into a fast paced but very personal family oriented restaurant. Lots of parking toosit at the bar and you will likely end up having a chat and a drink or three with some of the locals!

The food was pretty tasty, but the service was very slow, even though there weren’t many people inside. The waiter was nice and friendly, but we were left feeling the service was sub-par. Had to ask for water twice, and sat after the meal was over for 5 – 10 minutes before I could catch someone to ask for the bill. If I had seen the photos of the health violations others posted I wouldn’t have come in. The salsa and chips are free with meal. The salsa was very picante! Hence my need to ask for water.

Consistently a great meal. We go here often. The wait staff is very nice and they do their jobs well. We usually get breakfast and/or a carnitas plate or chimichangas. Ive been for the Sunday brunch buffet a few times and it is a great time. The food is good and the variety is good too. I highly recommend this place! :)

This is fairly typical, mediocre meat-cheese-bean based California«Mexican-ish» food. This is not typical of what people actually eat in Mexico — and it’s not vegan friendly. Beer selection wasn’t great — I settled for a mixed drink special and chips. The drink was extremely large and watered down. The chips tasted stale(rancid oil flavor — blah!) and the salsa was bland like it was made with tomato catsup. My friends from the East Coast and the Central Valley were pretty happy with it – but their expectations might be different if they’d ever had really good Mexican food. I couldn’t wait to get out of there to stop at the nearby produce stand to get some food!

The food was very bland. The salsa was so hot that you wouldn’t be able to taste of food. The drinks were ok, better than the measl. We did have five people with us and one of us had our meal botched! The bad taste in her mouth was definitely the 18% they charged us for tip because of the amount of people we had not because of the quality of their service or food.

Food was bad. My family and I got sick from the food here. We decided to stop by for lunch after my son’s award ceremony at Sobrato high school, first time I ever ate here and the last time. Service was slow and food was overpriced

I have been coming here for about 2 years now. They have absolutely THE best tortilla soup ever. So good that I will drive 20 minutes out of the way to come here. All of the Molcajete dishes are amazing also. Guacamole made at the table is delicious. The service can be painfully slow at times, it really depends on who you get. Unfortunately this usually happens when I bring new people here or groups. Whenever it is just me or myself and 1 other person however, it is pretty quick. Their margaritas are also super good.

Food sucked! Got the enchiladas Camaron and the sauce tasted like ketchup. My wife got the sampler platter and her nachos were cold! Do not come here!

1st time we were here, it was great. Each time thereafter the service just went downhill. Horrible service. I like the food but it is not good enough to justify the awful service. Hoping someday we can try them again but will have to see if the reviews improve and mention better service.

The wife and I stopped by here last Saturday for lunch after hearing people say how good the food is. I guess a lot of people must be comparing this place to Taco Bell if they think this is good Mexican food. I grew up in San Diego. I know good Mexican food and this place isn’t it. I ordered the Parillada which is listed as having steak, chicken and carnitas, served with rice and beans. Sounded like a combo fajita platter. I figured that I’d eat about half of it and then bring the rest home to enjoy later. When the food arrived it had what looked like about half of a chicken breast that had been pounded thin, about 1/8″ thick. Along with a piece of what I assume was flank steak and a small serving of carnitas. The steak was the toughest piece of low quality meat I think I’ve ever had. The carnitas was bland and the chicken was dry. Their Spanish rice had a weird flavor to it. Pretty much everywhere you go and get Spanish rice it tastes about the same, but not here. I don’t know what they’re putting on their rice but it isn’t good. Not only that but all of the meat screamed of lime. I don’t know if they just squeeze a buttload of lime juice on everything but it was extreme overkill. So I only ended up eating about half of the food and certainly not taking anything home. Not only that but the service was terrible also. The waitress never checked up on us and I HATE that!

After a few trips to MARGARITA’S, I’ve decided it’s time to award them with another star. I’ve had their enchiladas, fajitas, but most recently tried their Alambres. That was a chronic dish! It is chicken, steak, chorizo, onion, peppers, cheese and salsa all grilled together and served with tortillas. Kind of like fajitas on steroids. SOGOOD! Chase that down with a super chavela and I’m a happy man! Easily the best sit down Mexican joint in the Hill. 4 stars!

I FINALLY made it back to Margarita’s, which I was super happy about, since it’s one of my top five favorite Mexican food restaurants. My lady friend and I had a lot of tequila-induced laughs over a delicious meal. I tried the mango margarita and the pineapple margarita. Both were refreshing and uplifting. The chips and salsa were consistently great. The wait staff and waiter were upbeat, personable, and quick to make sure we had everything we needed. This time, I ordered the sampler platter, but they made some alterations so it’d be vegetarian. The nachos were piled high with jalapenos(go, white girl! go, white girl! go!), the quesadillas were pretty standard but solid, and the potato chimichangas were The Bomb. As always, I’m super pleased with these folks.

Had the trio fajitas $ 19 and hubby had the molcajete dish $ 20. I had the Superior Chavela which included a shot of Patron. $ 15 for the drink. The drinks were awesome. Service was kind of slow but the place was packed. Had a good time. Will try getting there early for their Happy Hour
