I really would love to be able to give the spa an extra couple stars but… well let me tell you! Wife and I booked a late checkout with a massage package evening. It was a pretty decent bed, fluffy not too soft. Part of the package was to have Aveda products in the room, yeah you guessed it, no Aveda products. Called to desk and was apologized to about the oversight and that they would have someone send up. They must have gotten lost because they never made it. So fast forward to next day, wake up late rush to check out, run to spa and… wait. Apparently someone quit or called out, no problem things happen. Massage underway, so freaking amazing!!! Maybe its because I don’t get them often, maybe it was just awesome, either way, great massage. So now fast forward to present day(our booking was maybe two years ago, I’m busy!) Call to book a massage package for wife to surprise her and, spa is closed for remodel/retrofit/new owner. Has been like this since 2012. Maybe it should just say closed and change the name to Ayres Suites, sorry no Spa.

Coming in, the place was kept clean and serene. I liked the waiting area, very comfortable. I was given a tour of the place, it was decent and was also connected to the fitness center of the hotel. I also like that they use Aveda products because I am a fan of Aveda myself. Also, the jacoozi and pool was right outside from the fitness center. I wonder if including a licensed acupuncturist who is trained and certified in cosmetic acupuncture/herbals here at the Sandalwood Spa specifically for face and body treatments in addition to stress and rejuvenation treatments would bring more clients to this place… ITSUREWOULDBENICE! At least they will know who to contact– ME! =)

This spa was oh so conveniently located in the hotel I was staying at… And the best part of all is that guests of the hotel receive 20% off ALL spa services!!! You know me… I can never pass up a good bargain like that. With that nice discount staring me in the face, I just had to try their services… so I opted for the Gentleman’s Facial. It’s an hour procedure. VERY relaxing! HIGHLY recommended! The rooms were very spacious rooms compared to other places I’ve been. Other services they off are massages, of all kinds, wraps, salt scrubs, etc. All the standard stuff… The spa uses all Aveda products, and offers most of the entire line for sale also at normal prices. For a little self-pampering… this is the place to go!

It had been years since I pampered myself and got a massage so when I bought the packaged Groupon for one night stay and an hour couples massage, I was definitely looking forward to it. The spa is located in the Ayres Hotel. The staff was really friendly and accomodating and the spa was clean and smelled nice. This is definitely not one of those ghetto massage parlors in San Fernando Valley. The couples massage was nice. My boyfriend and I were in the same room and the room was dark, quiet and tranquil. Some light music was playing and a couple candles were lit to set the mood. My masseuse was Steven and he was great. I got a full body massage for an hour and he focused on my back, which had A LOT of knots. He was gentle and added just the right amount of pressure I needed. They use Aveda products at this spa and the oils smelled great. I left feeling relaxed and stress-free. If you’re in town or staying at the Ayres Hotel, going to the Sandalwood Spa is a must.

I bought a Groupon for 260-min. massages and a stay at the Ayres Hotel, so I came down to check it out. I actually stopped by a little early to check out the facilities. They have about 4 rooms(including the couples’ massage room) and normally include a foot bath for free when you book a service(though it didn’t come w/the Groupon). The space is cozy and the staff is very conscientious about being quiet when someone is getting a service. 4 stars for the massages. They were very relaxing and my masseuse checked to make sure the pressure was good and informed me when she was going to be using a warm towel on me. One star deducted, however, for the space itself. I was expecting, in a hotel, with hotel spa pricing, a spa with at least a dressing room. I had to undress in the room itself(which I usually equate with those $ 45/hour massage joints in strip malls). They have a steam shower, which is probably nice for showering in, but isn’t quite the same as a steam room. The jacuzzi, though on premises, is outside. On this trip, it was overcast and chilly outside and the jacuzzi wasn’t more than 80 degrees. Not the spa’s fault, of course, but it was another ding. Back to the good: it’s an Aveda spa, so they use Aveda products, which left me smelling fantastic. I even purchased some stuff to go. Overall, a good experience.

This quiet spa is inside the Ayres Hotel next to a Cosco. When you enter the new spa, you quickly notice the cleanliness and tranquility of the surroundings, not to mention the smell. Aveda products are everywhere and you know you’re in for a treat. I had a facial here, and believe me when I say my skin is picky and sensitive. I am always pretty wary about being manhandled, and this was not the case at all. My esthetician was very professional and considerate, always asking about my comfort level. I was in a state of relaxed bliss. Even the extractions, which are often the worst part, were much more painless. Looking at myself after the facial, I noticed my skin was glowing and didn’t have mystery red marks from extraction, extra sensitivity, or peeling(all of which have happened before, at various places). I also harassed her with skin questions, all of which were answered. The best part is that they don’t rush your services, they take their time and give you a quality treatment. The prices here are midrange and not ridiculous. I’ve paid anywhere between 45 – 180 dollars for a facial before. The prices here are about 80, and you get treatment on par with the 180 dollar places. If you’re in the area, it is worth a trip!

This is definitely a place to visit if you need a relaxing treat for yourself. This spa is brand new and just looks amazing! I started getting facials because I was having so much trouble getting/keeping my skin clear and a friend said it may help. This place opened a few months ago and is located inside the Ayres Hotel which is in the Costco parking lot in MoVal. After just the first session, I noticed a very big difference and the esthetician recommended products I should use at home. They carry Aveda and Dermologica products and I have tried both(at home and in the facial sessions). Dermologica worked best for my skin. They have a few other services, messages and body scrubs, etc — treatments for men and women and a couples massage package you can get through the hotel that includes a nights stay, but I can only speak about my experiences with the facials. I am so happy with the level of service I receive and how knowledgeable the staff is, that I can’t imagine anyone would be dissatisfied with any of their other services.
