The staff make this place love this place ! Nothing better then when people can remember your name instead of just taking your money

This is my neighborhood store, the one I go to first for things I need instead of driving further than I have to. I really like this store. They are so cool there. They are very friendly and helpful and they get you in and out fast. I never have to wait more than a minute in line. They do have guys that hang out looking for work mostly in the mornings, Im used to seeing them hanging out there so it doesnt bother me but I can see someone who is not from around here, being weirded out by a bunch of mexicans standing in front of the store. The police station is right across the street. If there were going to be mexicans hanging out looking for work anywhere, I would rather they do it at Tipsy Fox because the police presence is strong which cuts any crap from happening there so I dont mind. I think its the best place for them to be if they are gonna be anywhere. Anyhow, every single time I have gone in there, they have been sooooo nice, Im a regular there and there are times when I was short by as much as a dollar and they let me go. Of course, since Im a local I go back in there and pay an extra dollar next time I visit. So glad to have that store there. Its been a life saver. I regularly buy my cigarettes there and they have decent prices on boxes of cigs.

A relatively cool liquor store. Lots of people looking to work off the books hang out in the parking lot in the AM, which is off-putting. The guys behind the counter are usually talking on the phone and looking like they wish they were anywhere else – not that I can blame them. If something is a few cents over and you don’t have change… say $ 1.03…they just take your buck and let it go, which is cool.

#100… I decided to go back, way back for this one. Circa 1985: Ah, the Tipsy Fox. You’re probably wondering why I’d be writing about me going to a place called the Tipsy Fox back in 1985. Isn’t it slightly inappropriate for a six year old child to be going to a place called the Tipsy Fox? Maybe. But that didn’t stop my Dad from taking me here. Let me set the scene… When we moved into our small suburban town, they didn’t even have a fast food place in the whole city. The day Wendy’s opened up was a huge deal. We had one grocery store in town for most of my childhood. When we first moved to this town, we lived in one of the new housing tracts near old town. If you left the tract, you were in a not-as-nice area. Right outside our development was the Tipsy Fox. In southern california, it gets really hot in the summer, especially inland where I lived. As a treat on weekends and sometimes weeknights, my dad would take me on a walk. When we went on those walks, we’d always stop at the Tipsy Fox, and I’d get an Orange Push-Up. Those things were the best ever. I absolutely looked forward to spending this time with my Dad. No, my Dad never bought booze while we were there! It was really just the closest convenience store. Also, notably, it’s still there. If you’re «undocumented», it’s apparently a great place to sit around and wait for work in the mornings(note — my useful tip about this place). I’m cheers-ing my Dad and the Tipsy Fox right now with Orange Push-Up in hand.
