Employee at the register rude and can’t hide attitude when a customer makes a specific request for a drink.

I went to this establishment just for coffee. While ordering my coffee I was asked if I wanted to also pay for a pound of coffee for a military family. Glad to do so! Sign me up! The machine had the«Apple Pay» symbol which I wanted to use for the first time. How does this work I asked the lady? «Dunno» came the reply. «Can you find out?»…“not now, there is a line” came the reply. Coffee Bean… Not sure why you are offering this service if the training isn’t behind it to back it up. I didn’t appreciate the fact that there was no accountability from the clerk to assist me. Coffee was good :)

Too packed all the time. Gotta find ways I make more seating! Good service. Good drinks and snacks. Extra loud with students in there.

Have coffee/tea here often. Products and service have always been good. Nice to «people watch» on the patio without being harassed. Will continue to frequent this CBTL.

Came here looking for good tea. I made the right choice. Me and my friend finding a place for our tea break for some time now and when we finally stumbled upon a group on CBTL, we thought we tried it out. We got Genmaicha it tastes great and relaxing, because we love tea and it was quite enjoyable. Some of their tea are great too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to explore the coffee and tea options in the area, who would like to try an afternoon coffee and tea and don’t know where to start or just find a coffee and tea that is hard to find.

This coffee bar is really a gem. Very chill vibe and really good coffee. What a wonderful coffee! I’ve got Café Mocha, it tastes so good. The roasts were varied and full of flavor, the brews expertly crafted. The baristas here were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. Everything about the Coffee bean and Tea leaf is just the tops! I can’t wait to go back here.

I love CBTL. The vibe is great, the music is nice and the employees have a strong work ethic. In fact, the employees are the best thing about this location. Not only do they make a delicious product, they greet everyone with a «good morning, sir» or «good morning, miss» and that makes me feel great. Something so simple leaves such a strong and positive impression. In Montrose, few places are open early so it’s great that you can count on the coffee houses to be pepped and perky(even at 5:30 in the morning). There’s a Starbucks and CBTL right across the street from each other, but I prefer CBTL because it’s more spacious, there’s a heated patio with mushroom lamps and the outdoor lounge has views of DTLA. The only thing I’d request is that CBTL has happy hour more often.

We’ve been spending more time in this area since last October when we became members at Descanso Gardens. Visited this CBTL on 3⁄13 as a refuge from the jam-packed Descanso parking lot and surrounding streets for Cherry Blossom Festival. Picked this over Starbucks due to the larger interior and exterior spaces. It was chilly that afternoon, so we chose to sit inside. I believe we hit an off day when there were plenty of patrons but not enough staff. Our orders didn’t come out correctly. The furniture, floors, and ladies room were all rather dirty /shabby. It just wasn’t a good experience. We are fans of the location in Thousand Oaks with the large outdoor fire pit and ambience to go along with it. Seems like this location is heavily visited and hasn’t seen serious maintenance, cleaning, staffing, or training in a while.

Love this place! From all the coffee bean & tea leaf stores I’ve been to, this is the biggest and most active location. The baristas are very friendly and helpful too, especially since I like to switch up my orders every once in awhile, I like that they give me great suggestion on drinks! If you like ice blended beverages, try The Ultimate(half vanilla bean and half hazelnut), one of my favorites!

A huge CBTL with plenty of seating inside… even a cool booth along the wall with lots of plugs for computers… And ample seating outside as well. It seems like a location popular with students. Even though they didn’t get my order right, I will be back.

There seems to be a lack of consistency with this Coffee Bean. I’ll come a few times and the drinks are made perfectly and are delicious, other times they turn out meh. I’ll still choose Coffee Bean over Starbucks but they should really focus on putting more effort into their drinks. Regardless, the service is always fast and the ambiance of the place is like your regular Coffee Bean.

Another great CBTL experience… nice big store with friendly professional staff. There’s a Starbucks across the street of you like your coffee bitter and old tasting.

Laid back atmosphere, nice employees. Christine was polite, nice, and got our complicated, confusing order perfect, & with a smile. Great place to relax for a bit, read the paper and enjoy a damn good cup of coffee(or two).

I come here regularly with a friend for a tea and talk. The nibbles and dribbles are always on point and what we expect/hope for. Recently Joseph recommended the Cookie Butter Latte with a caramel addition and that beverage was on point! I think I could hear Bing Crosby crooning from inside the cup. This place is always busy, but we generally manage to squeeze into a spot. Once a customer even got up from a table for two and moved into an armchair because I looked like I needed a table — so beyond generous! I usually eat the blueberry scone or the mini maple pecan scone. Yummy!

This one’s for Cody I love coming to coffee bean and seeing his energetic & enthusiastic demeanor. He’s definitely made a lot of my mornings, I usually never leave a review for a single person @ any establishment, but he really stands out and makes some good brews. Sam

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, much like Starbucks, has been a staple in my high school, college, all the way to the now. My all time favorite CBTL drink is none other than ICEBLENDEDMOCHA. Period. If for no other reason than this drink, I prefer my drip coffee and Iced Coffee from Starbucks. I’ve tried their pastries especially their madelines. It’s a perfect accompanying treat with coffee of course. This time I tried their regular hot green tea, & burnt my lip. You’ve been warned! Sip with caution. This particular location, there are students everywhere. So keep that in mind. If you want peace and quiet while sipping your coffee, look for another location.

This Coffee Bean is popular, and for good reasons too. Situated on the corner of Honolulu and Ocean View, it is directly across from its chief rival Starbucks(CBTL came first). The outdoor patio is great, even when it is a bit warmer out, because usually there is a cool breeze whipping around the corner. I’ve always had good experiences with the baristas here, and the place is generally well kept and clean. Montrose is a super walkable area, so I frequent it regularly. The outdoor patio area even has heaters to keep you toasty during our frigid California«winters.» :P And the seating outside also includes some more comfier spots, so try and get them if you can! The inside is flush with seats, and if you are lucky you can nab one of the comfier leather seats. Beware of the college studying crowd though, as they are there almost constantly. Parking is a cinch, with street parking, a private lot, and an extra massive lot nearby.

Came in because it was across from Starbucks and we wanted to show Starbucks off that they dont rule the coffee world. ROFL And plus they had a ½ off blended drinks going on right when we were about to go in. SOITWAS A PLUS. They got my blended green tea matcha exactly how I wanted it. I did not want it to be too sweet and so I asked for half sugar and they made it that way. It tasted so much better than the green tea frappuccino from Starbucks. It wasn’t too busy and loud at this Coffee Bean. Seems like there were a couple of people there studying or working on things.

I prefer Coffee Bean over Starbucks. This location is just right and its a good size. My only complaint is the customer service is not always so great, and their mochas are not consistently strong, let alone consistent in flavor. Nothing I can’t stand more than milky mocha in the morning or when you could really use the extra edge of mocha & espresso. The service can be a bit slow and when I need my caffeine whether it be in the morning or evening, it needs to be done right and quick. Nevertheless, it’s still one of my go to spots for Americano, mochas, ice blended pure vanilla, or just plain drip!
