Mussels wasn’t fresh and owner didn’t see to care about customer’s comment. Never get the burger. Yes, I know it is a seafood place but cannot resist getting a burger. The burger is so bland.

I’d give this place a 3.5. I like the casual atmosphere and the outdoor seating by the dock seems nice(was too crowded so my party had to sit inside). Most of us tried the New England clam chowder and liked it – a bit too fishy for my liking, though. Softshell crab sandwich was tasty, but you have to like very, very fried and crunchy things to like this sandwich. Tuna bits were pretty good.

Great spot for a no-frills seafood meal. Prices are much more reasonable than in town, but the quality of the food is no less, and the portions are much heartier. The fried fish sandwich, made with fresh fluke, was light as air, and the tuna steak sandwich was almost more than I could eat. Their unique version of fries, which are thinly sliced fried potato wedges, weren’t crispy enough for my taste, but given the size of the portions, I didn’t really need them on the plate. Didn’t get the chance to try the sushi, but tables near ours seemed to be enjoying their rolls.

Stopped there by chance the other day when we were out with our children celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary at the Lighthouse. I will say I didn’t hold out much hope. but was SOSOWRONG! We had a lovely meal, the service(Hi Steve!) was wonderful and everything was delicious, fresh and of the highest quality! We were quite a group. and got there about 15 minutes early for opening, so we waited in the bar and everyone was very nice…(does help that our children are well-behaved) and we were sure in for a treat. The children(ranging in age from 11 – 16) wanted sushi, one of the children is vegan and the teen, hubby and myself were ready for the Chowda and Fish n Chips! Hard to say who had the better meal. as we ALL enjoyed our dinner! Sushi was beautifully presented and fresh, the Fish n Chips were awesome — the best we ever had. I had the softshell crab sammie… and while my ONE criticism is to lose the supermarket hamburger bun in favor of something worthy of the delicious perfectly cooked crab. it was superb! I had a Bloody Mary(rare treat for this mom) and it was exactly right — not too spicy but bold enough to enjoy. The retro desserts were also a hit! Rootbeer Floats, brownie sundaes. yum! The place was clean — the smiles abounded and we are sure to try this place again next time we venture out that way! I was a beautiful family day… one we will all remember a long time!

A bit pricey but worth it. Great food, good service. Fresh seafood, prepared well. Delicious from appetizers to dinner. Tried sushi which was great. Beautiful view of water from where we sat. Highly recommend this place.

Probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The menu is awesome and the seafood is very fresh. The fishing boats dock right out the back of the restaurant. Have to try the buffalo shrimp and the panko scallops.

A 3.5 but rounding up. Sushi 4. Chowder 4. Atmosphere 4. Location 4. Shrimp and chips 3 — the shrimp didn’t taste fresh enuf, could use seasoning, batter was harder and thicker than i prefer and the cut chips were a bit soft not crispy. Seafood pasta — 3, good portion size, light sauce, mussels were good, could use seasoning, white fish(tuna and monkfish are meatier) was well cooked(and thus a touch tougher than i would prefer). Service, friendly.

Great fresh fish right off the boat, that’s local! Sushi, blackened, with pasta. You can’t miss. All very good. Friendly bar. Great mix of old salts and young mils. Casual good times. Enjoy!

We went here for the clam chowder, which our awesome local hosts told us was the best around, and we were not disappointed! The lobster rolls are also quite tasty and renowned, and they go heavy on the lobster filling(awesome). I ordered a seaweed salad, which was legit teeny tiny, like almost comically so — it was probably two or three leaves. But the restaurant itself was really cool, with big wooden tables and sweet oceanside views. A very nice, chill place, for chillin’ in Montauk like a chill party bro.

I can’t believe how different this place is inside from what I thought… it always looked like an old bar. Inside… its a popular casual seafood place for lunch, dinner etc. Chowder. New England, Manhattan all made here… Tap beer… table service… I like this place and would definitely stop here again.

Lovely chowder here. It’s famous for it, well with a name like The Clam and Chowder House, you’d hope so. Hehe. So I tasted som of my fellow diners chowder. Yum yum. I ordered the tuna and avocado roll and it was fine, albeit the rice was a bit scarce. At least compared to the tuna and avocado roll I get from my local Japanese restaurant in Dublin. Their fries with my husbands dish were very poor. But thinking back, maybe there were meant to be potato crisp style and not chipped fries. Go for the chowder, but skip the fries.

Small menu sushi is ok. Was told there would be a 45 minute wait ended up being an hour and a half. Place has little seating. Bartender sucked. Guess it was an off night…

My wife and I decided to get desert to go, Key lime pie and Pumpkin pie. The waiter brought us the bill before he prepared our order which totaled to $ 26 and change $ 12 each plus tax. I ran over to him and specified that we only wanted a SLICE of each, not the whole pie, he responded«yeah, I know, its $ 12 a slice». At this point I figured ok, it must be some amazing ass pie at $ 12/slice, lets go for it. We got back to our hotel and found an average slice sized pie with whip cream. The key lime pie tasted nothing like a key lime pie should taste, although the crust was tasty, the filling had no taste at all. The pumpkin pie was absolutetly terrible, it tasted like canned pumpkin filling was scooped out into a pre fabricated pie crust, no taste whatsoever. The most awful pie we ever had, no flavor, small and they had the balls to charge $ 12/slice Never going back there again for anything.

Sorry we did not get a chance to eat here. We checked in at 7 pm and was told the wait was 45 mins to an hour. We decided to wait and hang around the dock, etc. After an hour and a half we were finally seated at a table for 4(we were 5), and it took the waitress 10 mins to come over. At that point I took my family and left. We went to Gosmans got a table immediately and gladly spent $ 450. What really annoyed me was the clueless hostesses that do not how to turn tables over, there were people«camped out» at tables for hours and no one was pushing them, not to mention kids running all over the place. I am sure the food is good, but that this not the total restaurant experience.

Very good all around. Stayed with the specials: Super fresh and simply done. Sushi was amazing. Pie was delicious. Great service. Some of your usual montauk douches for customers, but that didn’t spoil anything.

This is by far the best place to eat in Montauk !!! Family owned and operated the staff is always friendly and smiling to greet you. The fish is as fresh as it comes … Today’s special was«big eye tuna» prepared Blackened and caught two hours prior to dinner time. It was incredible … The Tuna Appetizer(big eye tuna and wrapped inside was spicy Kani salad) was melt in your mouth Delicious… The Super Dave Roll was so amazing can’t wait to go back and have another amazing meal. Thank you for being so accommodating and delivering some of the finest cuisine there is in Montauk . There is almost always a wait of at least 20 – 30 minutes but there is an awesome deck upstairs that has pool tables, beach bag toss and foose ball to keep you busy while enjoying a cocktail or two ! Enjoy your dining experience here you will not be disappointed. It’s fantastic all around !!!

I came to montauk with my mom on a short 3 days trip. We both love very good food and especially very fresh fish. Let me tell you that we were not disappointed! This is probably the best raw fish I’ve ever had. We had a seafood ceviche for appetizer and it was soooo delicious! Then we both had cooked fish. Mom had the local stripped bass and I got the mahi mahi! Both incredible! We were very full but we figured we should give a chance to a dessert and this was just the cherry on the cake. This key lime pie made us speechless! We want to take the time to thank Ali who made our visit unforgettable! Do not miss this address!

This place is pretty descent. I went here on my birthday, which was back in August of 2014, and I still remember my meal so I guess it means something positive. Food was good! I had sushi, something similar to a shrimp tempura roll and a lobster roll meal. Sushi was ok, could of been better, but my lobster roll was pretty bomb. I remember the menu saying that the meals came with fries, but they were more like chips. Not even crispy ones. Service was a little slow. The server seemed unhappy to be working, but I would be too if I was working on a beautiful Sunday. The only real complaint I have about this place was that the menu was pretty limited. There was sushi and then the meals. That was it. I really wished that there was more variety. The place is at a great spot, food is descent but limited.

This is the new incarnation of the Westlake Chowder House, now located at the site of the old Salivar’s near Dave’s Grill. Unsurprisingly, it’s still as good as the old one, and housed in shiny new digs! The space is bigger and laid out better than the old spot, but I do kind of miss that old, marina shack with barnacles feel that the former location had. They can now also boast a roof deck, which is lovely. Hard to go wrong here, as the seafood literally comes off the boats, gets carved up, and goes into the restaurant. Likely some of the freshest fish you’ll ever have. I can’t stress this enough, but get the sushi. You’re going to be thinking lobster, clam chowder, steamed mussels, etc., and you should. You just also need to think sushi and sashimi because it’s outstanding. This place is a perennial favorite of mine, not to be missed!

I’d recommend Salivar’s to anyone visiting Montauk. It was an excellent dining experience. Try to sit in the outside deck where you have a view of the water and the boats in the dock. The lovely hostess made it possible for my family to get a table there. We got there around 3:30pm for a late lunch(kitchen closes at 4). I got the lobster and corn chowder, which was utter perfection, and the lobster roll — best lobster roll of my entire life. My parents got fish and chips, which they loved, and my brother got the fried fish sandwich. Loved every bite! The waitress forgot to bring us a to-go box, so we didn’t get to take our extra dish of fish and chips to go :(just means we have to go back again soon!
