We sat outside to enjoy the incredible view right on the end of the Harbor. I wish the food was as good. The Manhattan clam chowder was bland and had little to no clams in it. The lobster roll has way to much mayonnaise. The shrimp scampi is very good but more pasta less shrimp. Was very surprised at the bill way to high for the quality of the food. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. All in all It was a pleasant experience mostly due to being able to relax and take in the view.

Came for lunch and the view is amazing. I had the fish tacos, two for $ 18 and my girlfriend has a lobster roll with fries, $ 26. We also had a half dozen oysters, $ 2.50 a piece to start. The oysters were extremely fresh and tasty. My tacos were good but should be three for the price. The lobster roll is New England style made with mayo but large sandwich for the price. Maybe next time I will do the clam bar or another option of Gossmans.

Best lobster! I recommend getting their 2 pound lobster dinner for two. You get an appetizer and sides. Its a pretty good value. I’ve been here twice so far. Atmosphere is also great with a great view. Definitely will go again next year!

Compared to the restaurant this place isn’t too bad. Outdoor seating near the inlet is available without reservations. The location is next to Gosman’s restaurant towards the end of Montauk Harbor. The prices are decent for the menu selection and freshness. Presentation of the meal is adequate at best but the staff is nice — a bit selective about which tables their more attentive to which was a turn off. We were seated at a high-top table bordering the tables for the customers with food from the boardwalk counter. It wouldn’t have been such a problem if those would were sitting there weren’t so obnoxiously loud. I had one of the daily specials, Shrimp Scampi with linguine pasta was pretty good but got me full super fast. My Mom had another one of the specials some mixed salad with thinly sliced italian meat with a creamy dressing drizzled along the edges. She also had a pomegranate martini with was ok. Overall food and drink was fine, would be interested in the sushi options to test the asian fusion cuisine they’re going for.

After arriving in Montauk in the afternoon, we were hungry and came across the Gosman’s Inlet Café located in Gosman’s Dock. The restaurant provides complimentary parking(across the street) for its patrons. I liked the patio seating as it was quite relaxing and had a great view of the ocean. For drinks, I ordered my usual the Arnold Palmer which was garnished with a lemon wedge. For appetizers, I loved the Shoyu Chicken Wings, which consisted of marinated chicken drumsticks and wings served over sushi rice ball and topped with a grilled pineapple, toasted coconut, and sweet chili sauce. Our party ordered the following entrees: (1) Lobster Roll — brioche bun topped with tomato, boston lettuce, and a scoop of New England lobster salad(lobster chunks, celery, and mayonnaise). It was served with a large dill pickle and crispy french fries. (2) Grilled Local Fluke Fish Taco — two soft flour tortillas filled with jicama slaw, roasted tomato-chipotle salsa, and grilled local fluke fish, and topped with crispy red onions strips (3) Fish and Chips — three pieces of deep-fried panko-crusted Atlantic cod, served with lemon and tartar sauce. It also came with crispy french fries. (4) 1 main + 1 topping + 1 side — I picked a Char-grilled Atlantic Swordfish topped wit Pineapple-Coconut Sambal and Sautéed Spinach. I highly recommend this delicious, tropical inspired entrée!!!

As mentioned by quite a few others: great views, poor food. The NE clam chowder is good, but it’s uncommon that you get a bad one on Long Island. Beyond that, the fish & chips is very sub-par, and the oysters were served without vinegar, but with s cucumber pickle juice(?) that I’m not familiar with. Anyway, good for a glass of wine and the view, but avoid for dinner. Plenty of far superior restaurants nearby.

Fabulous views from the top deck with friendly service and New England clam chowder that is out of this world! Casual or dressy is up to you. Highly recommended –you won’t be disappointed!

I was disappointed with our plates here. The fried clams had very little flavor and were loaded with batter. I was told they don’t make them themselves. Sad with the ocean about 30 feet behind the place. The baked clams were not very good either. The view was good. Be careful. The seagulls are not shy.

Topside is the best place to enjoy great drinks and food while overlooking a beautiful view of the harbor. It’s nice to watch the ships come passing in and out as you dine and drink. A very relaxing atmosphere with a very friendly and helpful staff who provide outstanding service. I’ve been coming here for many years and I am never disappointed. I usually choose to go with the frozen drinks here because they are delicious and strong, whereas I usually feel cheated by mixed drinks in other places. The pina coladas, daiquiris, and mango margaritas are excellent. I almost always get the mussels in white wine sauce… incredible, amazing. No mussel dish compares to this one! A creamy, flavorful, rich, garlic and wine broth coat a generous helping of mussels. Perfectly cooked buttery toasted bread accompanies this dish and you must dip it into the sauce… insanely good. I’ve tried to re-create this recipe several times or find it elsewhere and I cannot. This place is excellent, you will not be disappointed.

Great service and the clams on the ½ shell were amazing. They were very nice accommodated by service dog. We will be back for sure considering the last time I was at Gosman’s I was 8 and you know the rule.

OMG! Get the fresh tuna salad. Get the brioche. In fact, get everything. Even the cookies.

Lunch with a view. The service is a little slow, but the food is decent. They make a decent manhattan clam chowder, their grilled shrimp salad hits the spot, and their sangria tastes like juice. This place is also HUGE, so it’s a good option if you don’t feel like waiting for a table at the Dock or Daves.

Only worth it for the view. Grab a table on the deck and watch the boats come in and catch a sunset. The food is mediocre at best. However, the sushi is quite good and very fresh. Service is average and prices are a bit high. You’re paying for a great view so don’t be shocked when dinner for two with drinks is about $ 80 to $ 100.

The food is as good as the view! Sit outside on a nice day and watch the boats go by as you enjoy your delicious seafood. This is a casual dining place right on the water. Prices are more than you may expect, but still will not break the bank. Someone who knows what they’re doing prepares the seafood and it’s yummy. The chowders are both delicious. Sometimes I’ll just get a bowl and it fills me up. The cold salads are fresh and tasty. Sushi is fresh and nicely presented. Lobster salad on the Lobster roll is generous and tasty. Swordfish sandwich is filling and delicious. My idea is that if you’re at a restaurant near the fishing docks, order seafood. I’ve never been disappointed with ANY of it. If you must have a chicken Caesar salad, don’t expect greatness! Service is attentive, drinks delicious, five star view, off the beaten path…

Topside was great for several reasons. First it is adults only, so no kids running around. Second, the food was great. Third, the staff were terrific and understand that you want the best table possible and make it happen for you. Perfect place to have a drink or dinner and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor.

Probably many people who vacation in the Hamptons wish they could find a relaxing spot to have lunch, dinner, and/or a drinks with awesome water views, good food, and great service. Gosman’s Topside fits the bill very nicely. It’s a little out of the way, and off the main drag in Montauk — next to the marina. But it’s worth the trip. You can eat inside, outside, or up top, formal or casual. We chose outside/up top/and casual. Awesome views of the harbor & marina, as the fishing boats and yachts come in and out of the harbor. This place is perhaps 50 feet up, and right over the inlet. There’s always a nice breeze, even on a hot day. Service is enthusiastic and friendly. You’ll get good recommendations from your server if you ask, and we always do. We tried both the New England & Manhattan Clam Chowder. Both were superb. I’m glad I got a bowl instead of a cup! My GF enjoyed the fish & chips with panko breading. Perfectly cooked, crispy and not overly greasy. My lobster Caprese salad was also great. The cold lobster was expertly cooked and a terrific pairing with the heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil/A perfect summer lunch on a hot day. There’s a bar up top as well, under an awning, with the requisite crusty old sailor hanging out and getting sloshed.(Do they hire this guy just to sit there and add to the nautical ambience?). Like almost every eatery in the Hamptons, Gosman’s is not cheap. A lunch here for two, with a couple of beers can easily run $ 80 or more. But the food is consistent, and delicious, and the friendly servers will add to your experience. Unlike so many coastal eateries that have the view, but the quality of the food takes a back seat, at Gosmans you get food that is darn near as great as the view.

My son & I dined there in July. The ambience was casual and friendly. Our Wait staff was wonderful & personable. We tried a sushi/sashimi customized platter & speciality roll. Overlooking the inlet at sunset, it was a wonderful experience. Views beautiful from all seating

I was suckered in by the roof deck seating overlooking Montauk Harbor and then was completely disappointed by the flat, warm beer and below average lobster roll. On top, my wife’s salad featured wilted lettuce and questionably«grilled» chicken. For a better option check out the Clam and Chowder house at Salivar’s or Swallow East. Both are are a short walk from the shops at the harbor.

On my first trip to Montauk, came here for some shopping due to the rainy weather and got lucky with a window of sun which allowed us to sit on the deck and enjoy the view, with passing boats. This would be the perfect spot to while away some time with a cocktail or two. I had the Lobster roll which was fresh, but a tiny bit bland. But the cup of New England Clam Chowder was excellent! Service was good, prices were spot on for the area. And the view is worth it. Great casual place for a break from shopping.

I’m going to regret this… Gosman’s Topside Inlet has the best waterviews in Montauk. Also the best Pina Colada’s. Enough said. Food? oh yeah. fresh seafood, salads, soup, etc. It’s part of Gosman’s. There are FOUR various Gosman’s. The restaurant, the outdoor good for kids clam bar, the more casual Inlet Café next to the clam bar, and above it, the Topside, Topside has an oudoor bar, and restaurant table service with waterviews everywhere. adults only. If the weather is nice. and you are anywhere else, your missing the point. Well Lol no pun intended. this is the harbor. Ok there is a café by the actual Point but its like a beach concession, so dont do that. This is good. Like sit here 3 hours drinking overlooking the inlet and harbor, I’m not going back to the mainland ever good. I never critique other Unilocaler’s views, but might I say, Kate. come back, look around, and have a drink. If you must eat, steamed lobster, broiled fish, awesome new england clam chowder, super delicious calamari, and nicely done baked clams are good choices. Joe L is right… steamers too. Tip: Stick to seafood when out here. They also have other untested items such as seafood cobb salad and wild mushroom pasta. Tempting also.
