I stopped by the store to buy some bandanas. The old man was helping some people try on some cargo pants outside the shop. As I walked past them, he grabbed my arm and asked«Can I help you with something?» I said I was looking for bandanas, and he said he ran out of them. Then I said«OK, well I’ll take a look inside anyway.» He said«No, you won’t. You can look at whatever you want out here.» So I chuckled and left. I’m not sure if he’s senile, or racist, or just worried I might steal something, but I didn’t even get«the privilege» of looking around his store. It did look like a hoarders nest from what I saw.

Think Hoarder’s with a racist vibe. It looks like an abandoned hut from the outside. We had never seen it open until today, not even during the hours listed on the sun-faded sign. My husband and I were really excited to finally check it out. The inside literally looks straight out of Hoarders. Giant piles of dirty merchandise heaped across the floor, stuffed so high it blocked off access to the second, inner room. There looked to be some interesting finds inside the shop, but even if they were accessible(they weren’t because hoarding), the crazy, elderly owner kept on trying to dissuade us from entering the store or buying anything inside. Well, anything except the smattering of generic merchandise he had hung outside. And then there was the definite racist vibe. I’m Asian – he tried to convince me to stay out of the store. He let a white lady in just fine, but did the same thing to a Hispanic man who tried to come look around. A couple white guys, he welcomed inside. But when one of them – the white lady’s husband – started speaking on his phone in Spanish, his whole attitude changed and he started being rude to that couple too. In the end, we decided he didn’t deserve our cash after he freaked out at my husband for looking at jackets.

Have you ever seen the show«Hoarders» before? Because thats what the inside of this place is like! My boyfriend and decided to check it out to see if we could find any treasures, but before we stepped in to the hut of doom, we were greeted by this old guy who had mushy fritos dripping out of his mouth… We took a step inside and the smell of old must filled the entire room. There was no organization to the joint the only way to walk around was on a little trail that had been made from the clothes on the floor being moved aside. Shit. Is Everywhere. What a shame, they have some good finds in there… but its pretty disgusting and I left laughing hysterically because I thought I had been punked. Oh, and watch out for old man rivers too, he gets a little close.

Definitely give the owner a call before going. Hours for the store kept changing for the past 8 or so years I’ve known about this place. Parking is easy in the back of his shop but it is on a dirt downward slope so dont think about driving your ground hugging nice cars here. Super small hidden gem. Easy to pass by on the hwy but look for the gas station and this tiny store is right next to it. Lots of pins, medals, knives, torches, helmets, covers, uniforms, jackets, coveralls, boots, pouches and flight suits sold here. Last time I saw, there were few selection of the newer uniforms(ie the digital ones). Dont know if the owner has some more and his stock varies from time to time. He has old Korean War era to newer woodland and DCU uniforms from the army, navy, air force and maybe a small selection for marines. No coast guard uniforms though. I came a couple times to purchase utility pouches for scuba diving and fishing. Owner is friendly especially to veterans. He is former air force from the Korean War days I believe and we chatted ourselves away about our good old days being government property at some point in our lives. I traded some of my old coast guard uniforms for his pouches and an old flight survival vest for fishing. He and I were happy with the exchange. Got a big hug from the guy too. Makes me giggle every time I think back. Owner’s a cool guy who really knows his military stuff ie about patches, decorations, uniforms, etc.

This store is a a tiny little store packed full of goodness. Lots of jackets, shirts, pants, flight suits, jumpsuits, backpacks, canteens, and all kinds of other clothes and equipment. We try to hit this store when we’re the area. I got a great olive drap shirt and my fiancé got a big olive drap parka. And it has a great view of the ocean to boot. They are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the hours are 10 to 5 but the owner doesn’t always keep the store open if it’s dead. So we go there at 4:00 once and they were closed. So you will want to call before showing up.
