Legendary surf shop. Small but has everything you will need. They rent surf boards but you better get there early cause they run out quick.

Definitely a cool shop to visit if you’re on the coast. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have the best selection of actual surfing gear. I’ve come in a couple times and been underwhelmed by their surf gear merchandise. Great if you’re looking to pick up a new t-shirt.

It’ s great visiting«the» surfshop in HMB, the birthplace of the Mavericks. The shop is quite small, but you can(also) get everything you do need and the staff is quite friendly. The location is close to the waterfront and has a wonderful view.

Located right in the harbor area of Half Moon Bay, they carry a range of surf gear and clothing. The staff were incredibly helpful and did a great job of assisting me with my needs.

I really enjoyed my lesson with Gail — I’m so glad I got some proper training in paddle boarding before I go out on my own. I also picked up a great top. I will be back with the whole family!

I enjoyed the beginning stand-up paddle lesson I took with Cassandra. Her instruction was very helpful, the water in the harbor was flat, and the amount of time I got on the water was very generous: an hour lesson, another couple hours on my own after that, and even a couple more hours on a follow-up day are all included in the $ 75 lesson price. Paddling around the harbor, we saw interesting fish and birds, walked over to look at paddling spots I might try later, and went out of the harbor into the ocean for a bit to get a feel for the chop and ocean swell. It was a great experience!

I’m a windsurfer, not a surfer, so I’m unlikely to buy any gear here. Still, it’s interesting to see how the«other half» live. They have a pretty cool range of stuff, much like you’d expect from a surf shop(it’s a lot less equipment intensive than windsurfing). There’s a display of older boards, t-shirts and whatnot, and the staff seemed friendly, if a little bit of the stereotypical surfer dude type.

All the boards they sell, Jeff makes which I think is very cool. He also made/invented this really cool vest that you can wearing when surfing that can blow up like a life jacked. Jeff comes into the shop and we got to meet him. Very nice and humble man. Cute clothes. When you turn at the light, it’s on the left in the small shopping center, you can miss it.

Really cool t-shirts for sale here. They had the CUTEST baby onesies, but I just couldn’t stomach paying 15+ dollars for something I know a baby will likely only wear once. The t-shirts are around $ 15 bucks for kids and $ 20+ for adults. They also have hoodies, which are obviously pricier, as well as a ton of surfing supplies. The staff was friendly and helpful and they sell half moon bay(even though it’s not technically in half moon bay) /mavericks stickers at front where you check-out. Cool shop, and very close to the Oceana Inn and Spa.

We stop in here every time we visit HMB, which is usually a few times a year. Staff is very friendly & helpful. Great place to pick up a hoodie, t-shirt, surf or paddle board. Say hi to Jeff!

Finally the coast has a well merchandized surf shop with a great selection of everything surfing. I bought my wife a really nice hoody at a great price with a wonderful iconic logo on the back, although it cites Mavericks as being in Half Moon Bay which it really isn’t. She even wore it to bed the last two nights. This shop has a warm welcome feeling unlike many of the other shops in the area. Jeff Clark and company have done wonderful job with this place, it used to be a sloppy fish eatery of some sort years ago that never made it. Although it is sometime tough to get into HMB from 92(thanks to all the no-growthers here that blocked the expansion of highway 92 in the 1980’s), Jeff’s surf shop is worth the trek along with other fun places here, I love what I call the trifecta of Pescadero, goat farm, the bakery on main street and of course Duartes. The coast is growing up and the tunnel from the North makes it easy to get into the Princeton area where Mavericks and the surf shop is located. Princeton now has more to offer than downtown HMB, better restaurants, more activities including great tide pooling, biking, and guess what its crab season and I cooked up 28lbs for our holiday party this year. Don’t waste your time on down town HBM, except for the wine tasting maybe. It is indeed sad to see this gem of a coastal town wrecked and bankrupted by near sighted local politicians who don’t even realize the potential of this historical place. There is a lot to be explored here and it’s rivh history dates back to Pourtoguese Whalers is very rich and interesting along with all the bootlegging. Also check out where Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio used to hang out at the Frank Torres Marine View tavern, now the distillery.

Ummmmmm yeahhhhhhh… Not really sure if I just came in on the wrong day or something but the guy working the counter the day I came in could have cared less that he was working. He sat on his stool and was totally in slow motion mode the entire time. Bro, you work at Maverick’s Surf shop for an owner that is legendary. It is a tourist type place and if you can’t Hang 10 with that maybe you should take your ass on down the road to Burger King. Truth be told, you never know who is in your shop and you should treat all customers like a VIP. WON“T BEBACK!

Mavericks surf shop is located in the Half Moon Bay harbor close to Princeton Jetty, a friendly surf spot. Owned by big-wave surf legend Jeff Clark, the shop got everything you need for a day at the beach. The rental boards are in perfect conditions and always available. The staff is super nice and give you great advices. I went surfing in HMB2 days by myself and I was reassured that the staff knew I was in the water and would wait for me at the end of the day. They sell Jeff Clark’s boards and other surf gear, they also have a lot of Mavericks items as dvd’s and books. I even found a strawberry Sex Wax candle ! I recommend this shop for their excellent rentals and for the opportunity to share experiences with great locals + the location is so convenient as I didn’t have a car, I carried the board from the shop to the beach under my arm… it was ok.

Nice shop. Good selection of surf swag and they have rentals. Their gear is a little pricey but the tourists eat that«Maverick’s» stuff up. I’d go back.

We’ve been coming here since they opened. Love the new location. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. They have everything you’d come to expect from a good surf shop and then some. You can gear up to go surfing, whether you are purchasing your very own or need to rent. You should swing by if you are in the area just to see Jeff Clark’s latest board design or pick up a spiffy new t-shirt.

I feel like this place is mostly a novelty shop for me because Jeff Clark started the Mavericks competition. For those of you who don’t know, Mavericks is a grass roots surfing competition that occurs in Half Moon Bay every year. The waves get pretty dangerously high so there has been stories of spectators getting swept away before. You can usually find a dozen surfers out there on any day even though the waves now aren’t the best. The competition I believe usually happens around May. It’s very cool to be in this shop since they have a lot of boards by Jeff Clark and they have a healthy selection of all things surf related as well as cool«sandal shoes» that the bf was eying. It’s definitely a worthy stop over if you’re already in the area, you can even check out the Mavericks competition point!
