It’s a new store so all of the employees are new… but already feels like every other dreary Walmart I’ve ever been in. I feel like a mouse in a maze, trying to find the cheese. Most aisles are too tall to look over and there is no good way to get from point A to point B.

Nice, new clean Walmart and its huge! Wayy bigger than the Mall-Wart we have back home which is extremely small. This one suits all of our needs, it’s pretty much one stop and can pick up our groceries, apparel and pet goods in one go. They’ve always had everything in stock we needed each time we made the drive up to shop, and the workers are super friendly. There’s no ‘People of Walmart’ types either, no kidding at least, not that I’ve seen. This is probably the nicest one I’ve been to in the country. Hope they keep it up.

Just stopped by my local walmart and waited about 15 minutes in line behind one person in the 20 items or less checks and because they have some of the most incompetent checkers in the city! The customer knew an item wasn’t going to scan and she told the checker it wouldn’t, customer told the clerk«just put in 11.99» for it. First of all I don’t think anything at walmart ends in 99 cents… secondly the clerk kept trying to scan it. After about 25 attempts you would say it won’t scan. This seems to be an everyday issue with this location. Second issue I have with this store, it must be a prerequisite that you have to smoke to work here. In the early mornings about 5 ish, there are about 10 employees out in front taking their smoke breaks. I wish they would make their employees smoke behind the store. Although they are 20 feet from the entrance customers still have to walk through their smoke to get to the front door.

After reading the other reviews I see I’m not the only person that thought this store was a crazy mess! Disorganized is a gross understatement! I’ve had more bad experiences with the employees then good. I’ve shopped primarily for groceries and was really shocked they don’t carry the essentials and same items the other Walmart stores have. When I asked customer service about the items they don’t have it was like a huge inconvenience. They wrote down the items… and four months later nothing has changed. So last time I was there I ran in to grab a few things and literally 45 minutes later came out with one bag. It took that long for customer service to find the request form and write down three products(again) and that they still don’t carry. I bought some mushrooms and they were all moldy when I opened them a day or two later. Had to throw those out. Also bought some fresh herbs. I was a bit reluctant because they didn’t look that great. Well they got moldy and had to be thrown out a week before the printed expiration date. These items that I’ve requested are nothing crazy… just every day items that all the stores in the vicinity carry. –7up products –Chorizo(El Mexicano brand) –Black Licorice(Red Vines brand) They have a terrible selection of 7up products. The other stores have a way better variety. Chorizo is pretty straight forward too. We have a really large Mexican population and I’m sure they’re wondering what’s up with that too. They only carry one brand and type of chorizo, and it’s a $ 5+ package that not many people are looking for. I posted a pic of the popular chorizo most people are looking for, and it’s $ 1.20 vs. $ 5 plus. No one will spend the extra money for that. Red Vines. They don’t carry the small package of both red and black Red Vines. They have grape and another random flavor, and Twizzler(sp?) brand. Super basic stuff! I was at Fred Meyer last week because they actually carry all the items I’m looking for and the prices seem to be better there too. I was talking to the manager about Walmart and asked if their presence was hurting their business. He said initially they did, but in the long run no, they aren’t. Think that speaks volumes! After all, the other stores fought Walmart and held up the store going in because they thought it was going to really hurt their businesses. At this rate they’ve got absolutely nothing to worry about.

This Walmart is great. I usually just dash in and out for stuff but since it is so new and the staff so friendly I can just take my time and it feels like I’m in a department store almost. The selection is good too, isles are well stocked and organized. The checkout lady was polite and I didn’t see any super long slow moving lines like the one in Renton. Overall I would recommend this walmart to anyone looking for anything.

Had to wait almost an hour the other day to get out of the place because the self checkout took a dump and wouldn’t give us our change, all of like 8 cents. Neither would the lady in charge, and she made us sit there for nearly 30 mins until some other woman(who couldn’t be bothered to help us at first) finally came over and fixed it in 2 seconds. Second incident was a slightly mentally retarded cashier/checker questioning me on the spot about where I remembered her from, which held up the line as she wouldn’t let me leave. So by now I’ve listed off several places and thoroughly embarrassed myself and the person I was with, when she finally says«No, the electronics department silly!!!» ba-dum tsh… Not that funny, and I don’t make it a point to remember every checker that helps me.

This is a really weak Wal-mart. I have only been in 3 times, but each time has been fairly unpleasant. Some of these things aren’t really things the workers can change, I suppose, so I am speaking mostly on a corporate level here, but some of them are DEFINITELY the fault of the workers themselves and they simply need more training. 1) It started out decently, but whoever organizes their shelves has let it turn into K-mart levels of disorganization. Just look at the toy section, for example. It’s just random things placed about and tossed onto the floor. They need to hire someone who organizes those shelves and keep up with it as a daily task. Because it has really de-evolved since they opened and it is embarrassing. 2) The produce is absolutely disgusting. I will admit that I am a little picky with my produce, but the potatoes are all wrinkly and moldy. Who would find that acceptable? Who would take that food home and cook it for their kids? How can someone who works there WALKPASTTHAT and say«Yeah…this is good enough». That’s pure laziness and bad management. 3) This one isn’t so much the fault of the workers, but seriously… no hand-baskets? If I want to just grab 5 items, I really need to push this giant shopping cart around? Come on. 4) The self check out is complete bedlam if there is more than 2 people. Instead of the system they have at Fred Meyer where the guy just has a little doo-hicky that he carries around to make approvals, this poor girl had to manually walk to each terminal to approve things. So when 5 people are all buying things that require these approvals, the screens just lock up and she has to go over to them, push buttons(slowly) and then help another customer. Meanwhile, you have guys trying to pay for things are her cashiering station as well. It’s just a total bottleneck and incredible disorganized. A self checkout is supposed to be FASTER. It’s supposed to eliminate the need for checkers. Get the doo-hickys, Walmart. Fred Meyer clearly has no problems with this, why do you? 5) Finally… the prices. Honestly? Not that great. I thought that Wal-mart was supposed to be «Discount City!» and that’s why people put up with so much BS from them. Fred Meyer’s prices are basically better, plus they have the fuel points which save a LOT of money. In conclusion, I see nothing at Walmart that I can’t get at Fred Meyer. I will happily keep giving business to the latter.

I was really excited about getting a walmart closer to me but i am very disappointed in this location. There prices are marked up a bit, employees are not very friendly, and other customers are VERY rude. I was inquiring about a product ringing up differently than the shelf. The lady behind me rammed her cart into me and asked to give me money just so we could move on with our day. I will be going to fred meyer next door unless i need something i will be going north

While for the most part all walmarts are in fact created equal, the new location in Monroe is sadly not. I found price differences on toys as high as $ 30 and every other toy I bought in store while Xmas shopping was at least $-5−10 more then what is advertised online. When I inquired about price adjustments in the return dept., the customer service rep first said Walmart does not match online prices. Then another customer came over and told me the lady she worked with the other day helped her complete a price adjustment. So the worker started backtracking and the whole thing took about 20 minutes because she had no idea what she was doing. Another thing, I never noticed so much trash around Monroe before but I guess if you build a Walmart, they will come. Because Walmart Monroe’s aisles are irritatingly compacted with creeps of all ages and sizes, their prices are SERIOUSLY not that low in this location, and their workers are mildly retarded… I just don’t have any reason to go back. Fred Meyers is comparable if not better in the grocery, toy, household departments, which surprised me! (Not sure if they hiked prices up for the grand opening/seasonal shopping but what a bad idea to have such huge difference in prices from their website to their various locations) ****Check online prices before purchases… WAY cheaper online!**** ***Update I think things have gotten better at this location. Staff seems to be more knowledgeable-maybe just a learning curve as everyone was new? This is corporates fault and not the employees. Still, I go to Fred Meyers anyway before walmart unless I’m looking specifically for an item that FM doesn’t carry but Walmart does. Final word: it’s gotten better but beware of their return policies and price differences versus online.
