The Seafood House

Walk in to a row of seafood, mostly shrimp, on ice in coolers. But they serve prepared meals, and even have a few tables and chairs lined up along the front window. Their fried fish and shrimp combos are fantastic. Today I had the shrimp steamed and ordered corn and potatoes as sides. The ambience (or complete lack thereof) may turn folks off but, for me, the fresh shrimp prepared by folks who know how it’s done gets 4stars from me.

We were on vacation in mobile and found this place from Google. The reviews said it was great and they were beyond right. The breading on the shrimp practically melts in your mouth and the breading on the tilapia has the perfect crunch. If you are ever in mobile and need a po boy fox, the seafood house is a must go.

Love this spot, it’s my new go to seafood place now. The food is always hot and fresh, good portions and good prices. The service is great and the people are really nice too.

Stopped to get crawfish here, I was so pleasantly surprised! They were great! Friendly staff, fresh seafood, clean facility. I may live in Birmingham but see myself coming down for more soon! Being from south Louisiana and being very particular, I was impressed!

They sure know how to fry some good seafood. My favorite thing is the fried fish platter and the portions are very generous. It’s a place you need to stop by especially fresh or frozen seafood as well.

I really shouldn’t believe anything that is posted on Unilocal!The food was hot but that is the best thing that can be said about it. The counter help was friendly and efficient but sadly the food did not live up to the hype.
If you like over breaded and over cooked food then this is the place for you.

I just rolled into town for a days worth meetings and this place was close with great reviews.
First, Its not your normal restaurant they sell fresh seafood by pound via a large display similar to a fish market or grocery.
When you walk in nothing really explains how the process of ordering works. There are two registers but I wasn’t 100% sure how to proceed.
Anyway I eventually figured it out. The positive is being able to order what you want by the pound or ½ pound. I ordered ½ pound of fried crab claws (for the hotel) and a pound of oysters– everything fried.
The crab claws were small but good. The oysters were small with a lot of breading. To much breading IMO
As I sat there waiting on my order there was a constant flow of people so it seems fairly popular. I also noticed an odd menu item, at least to me — #17 Turkey neck w/​rice. I’m not sure I’ve seen that before. Also under Salad — you have a choice of grilled or fried «shrimps».
There wasn’t any service to speak of — no one ever came by.
Next time I’ll have to try the shrimps

Ordered shrimp dinner, large portion and cooked to perfection. Large succulent shrimp with tasty and not to heavy breading. Had fried okra and hush puppies for side, perfect as well. We will be back next time in town.

Just got lunch. Had a pick-​up order of crab claws and catfish. Steamed corn, pups in the side. Customer service was top notch at the restaurant, and the breading on this seafood is awesome. Like really really good. I don’t usually eat fried food because it gets heavy and too bready sometimes. But this is not like that! Much delish’, much like, will return. Can’t wait to grab some of their raw ingredients as well.

Super and fresh! I was visiting Mobile and found this restaurant through Unilocal.This was also recommended by a local merchant employee. I had the fried catfish and shrimp. The shrimp were jumbo size and delicious! The coating was light and fluffy; melt in your mouth. The catfish was very light and flakey and the cornmeal was very tasty.
They also have a fresh seafood market of which I did not look at. Seating could be a factor during lunch or dinner so get there early or plan for take out. They seemed to do lots of take out orders in the 45 minutes I was there. The staff was very friendly. I will be back!

Simple spot. Fresh seafood chopped to order. Absolutely delicious! Better than any other seafood joint even the high priced tourist spots at the beach. I’m glad we stumbled into this place. The service was very fast and did I mention how great the food was. Large portions too. Even for the kids. And a fair price $ 10-​$ 13. They sell by the pound/​raw too. Looks super fresh.

First visit, good impression. Place is simple, nice, neat, & clean. Employees are nice & courteous. I got the seafood platter to go which was $ 19.79. The food was great, but I thought the oysters were somewhat over cooked. Guess they wanted to make sure oysters were cooked all the way, LOL. I will patronize them again in the future. Recommend them also to others.

The food was amazing! Great food and the prices were pretty good also! The staff was extra courteous and nice!

Great food, a tad pricey on cooked (broiled, boiled or fried) but the raw seafood for purchase and the boiled crawfish are reasonable. You get better tasting food than The Boiling Pot and perhaps better portions and menu options too. Plus, an added bonus is that they are open on Sundays wow The Boiling Pot isn’t! Great customer service and you can call ahead, eat in or take it to go. They should offer lemon wedges or lemon juice though. One more plus, they have fixed prices unlike boiling pot so they don’t jack up prices on you when they feel like it. This place is straight forward and you can order a la carte by the pound. One issue is that parking and getting in and out of the lot can be tricky but I take that risk for great food. It’s a pretty central location and I can easily see expansion in a years time. The menu is posted as a photo if you want to call ahead and pick your food up, which I love. I’d also suggest adding some desserts like bread pudding, ice cream, cookies or other simple southern desserts like keylime pie. Two thumbs all the way up!

I love their take of the fun bun. Soft shell crabs is already awesome on its own but to have it on a soft lotus bun along with their house sauce is just an amazing combo. I also love their crawfish with the garlic butter sauce. I’ve had crawfish from Hot N Juicy crawfish and it’s no where close to the explosive flavors in crawfish here at the Seafood House. Their crawfish is already flavorful but to add the garlic sauce is just to die for. It’s totally worth the extra $ 2!!! Hands down the best seafood and crawfish in Mobile. I’m from Atlanta and I would gladly do the 5 hour drive just to eat it again.

Worst place in Mobile to buy Seafood! All is frozen! when thawed is rotten!

Excellent, fresh, and plentiful. Great service. Everyone that I have referred has enjoyed their selection. My favorite the crab claws!

Returned again. Just as good as the first time. Excellent customer service, fast to go orders, crab claws are great, catfish is great. I will go back every time I come to Mobile.

Fantastic service and the food was delicious. Great variety and the option to steam any fresh seafood from the market section was a cool option.
Highly recommend and will return soon!!!
