Dined on patio on a great night complimented by a street musician for some added ambience. I had a ½ lb burger without the bun and duck fat fries, both were delicious. My wife had the margarita pizza and thought it was a little bland. We had an issue with my meal not being entered in the computer and it ended up coming out 10 minutes after my wife’s meal. The manager on duty went out of his watts apologize and make it right. Well done! My suggestion if this happens again is to hold both meals under heat so we don’t end eating alone or letting the good get cold. The gelato is excellent!

What happened to my beloved café Wilde Roast? New name; new chef with all sorts of strange changes to the menu. Renamed and reconfigured burgers with weird ingredients and combinations. Flat pizzas are fluffy, not flat. My favorite salad off the menu. New white toweled napkins bleed white stuff on black clothes. Too trendy overall and food doesn’t quite work. Worst of all, the floor to ceiling portrait of Oscar Wilde, for whom this eponymous café is named, gone. Replaced by an innocuous princess of some kind. If this is rebranding, give me the old brand. And bring back Oscar!

I love this place! A wonderful happy hour(half off appetizers) and be sure to order the nachos. The nachos are made with pasta chips and are ultra fresh and delicious. I live in the neighborhood and come here quite often. On a hot summer day, you can have a treat from the gelato bar, or during the cool of winter warm-up with one of their delicious hot chocolates. In the morning there’s breakfast or brunch, the happy hour can’t be beat, and there’s always a delicious treat. The Oscar Bars are my personal favorite. The best part of this place is their commitment to their employees by providing a livable wage and sick leave. You can go here knowing the employees are treated well, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Mississippi!

It has been a long time since I’ve been here and figured a good spot to Sunday brunch-never again 40 minute wait then 45 minutes to get food. Our food arrived with eggs over cooked and cold toast. Side potatoes overly seasoned. He good: coffee was excellent. The management here needs to take a serious look at kitchen staffing during busy times and food delivery quality.

So not sure why it is so difficult to find a place along the river that allows dogs on the patio, but this place does +1. Took a date here during happy hour. The server was not aware of happy hour or any of the specials. Hmmm. So she had to ask which took 10+ minutes –1. Ordered beers which were $ 2 off and three different apps which were ½ off for happy hour +1. Food took forever –1. Food was absolutely delicious! +2 ;) We got the onion/bacon dip which was very tasty and interesting, but prob would not get it again. The nachos were by far the tastiest nachos I have ever had in my life. The cheese curds were like an orgasmic explosion in my mouth. Sooo good! The check took 20+ minutes and was wrong –1. Overall, I will definitely be back, but pray for a different server that was able to multi task and accomplish requests in a reasonable time frame. Good thing I was with a date and had a great conversation, but she def agreed the service sucked.

The food is amazing! We had a delicious brunch. The only issue was the service which was a buzz kill. The staff was slow and awkward from the moment we walked in today. Coffee was not refilled, nor were we checked on after being served our food. Other than that, super cute place and great location!

Enjoyed this little gem in historic Saint Anthony Main area of Minneapolis. Went for a late night bite. Love the artichoke dip that wasn’t on the menu but that the waiter offered since they were in the middle of changing up the dishes on the menu. Ran into an old friend there and she suggested the french dip which is one of my favorites. Well, I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped to be. Who puts bacon on a french dip? Wilde Roast Café that’s who. After yanking off the bacon and then giving the beef a good dunking in the au jus and then dunking it again because it was somewhat dry, only after that it’s not too bad. I loved the lemonade vodka drink that I enjoyed so much I’ve forgotten the name. Cozy, quaint location.

I ordered the Go Little Goat Herd salad with chicken as takeout 2 Saturday evenings in a row. The first time, the salad was exactly what it was supposed to be and what the menu said– greens, blobs of goat cheese, walnuts, balsamic and honey drizzle, baguette slices, their excellent Parmesan dressing, and warm grilled chicken. SO good. When I ordered it tonight, I got home and opened the box to find a totally different and definitely sub par salad. No baguette, some thick balsamic dressing that came out of a bottle, berries(?) like 5 walnuts, and room temp chicken. If I had been in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. When you are shelling out $ 17 for a salad, you should get some consistency. I don’t think I would order take out again, I have been in to eat a couple times and liked it. It’s a shame they lower their standards when they can’t get immediate feedback about their food.

Came here for Sunday Brunch with my girlfriends. We started with mimosas, bloody mary, and a latte. The drinks were good. Not too strong but satisfying enough. We then order the crab cake benedict, roast beef sandwich, breakfast burro, and the thai chicken pizza. The crab cake benedict was really good. You could really taste the crab and I even bit into a little piece of the shell which I was ok with because it tells me they use real crab meat. The thai pizza was ok. I wouldnt order it again though. It had too much of a peanut taste to me. The roast beef sandwich was good. Nothing special about it. I did not try my friends breakfast burro so I do not have a review on that. Overall, I would come back here again. It’s definitely a nice place to meet up with friends and enjoy the food, drinks and scenery. Definitely worth trying,

I can’t review on the dining experience since I only get lunch takeout here(I work in One Main). I’ve been going to Wilde Roast every couple weeks for a few months now. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating(the hostess once pulled all the gelato out of the freezer and put them out for me so I could get some). The atmosphere is very beautiful and welcoming. However, I just don’t care for their food for the price you pay. I’ve tried about 4 different lunches and am always consistently disappointed. The sandwiches are always bone dry(the Rachel, BLT, and grilled cheese in particular), and the pizza is nothing special. Their flourless chocolate cake is to die for, but the $ 8 price tag for a single slice is ridiculous. The dinners might be better, but the lunches certainly leave a hole in your wallet and leave a lot to be desired.

Food 4 stars Ambience 3 stars Location 4 stars Service 1 star It’s fun to have brunch here when the weather is right. They make good eggs Benedict. Orange juice is always fresh. This place can be 5 star if they just improve their service. It’s slow and not warm(like most places in Minneapolis but this is worse). But I always come back coz the food is good.

One star for today’s experience, three for a typical day here. So I’ll average it at two. In short, if there’s a line for coffee, I’d go somewhere else. You will not be served in the order you arrived and placed your order, rather what is «easiest» for the guy making the drinks. Absurd. I am(was) a regular customer. Came in this morning 30 minutes before i was supposed to meet someone so I could enjoy a cappuccino. 20 minutes after I ordered, I still didn’t have my drink. Granted, a bus of students came in at about the same time. Maybe 10 were in front of me, the rest behind. But they all(I am not exaggerating-the bus pulled away before I got my drink) got their drink before me. When I asked why that was happening the answer was because«it was easier to make all their drinks together». Yet the woman in front of me got her latte in the sequence of students where she ordered, and one that ordered a latte as the students were leaving got hers before me. I’m no barista but I am pretty sure the ingredients are exactly the same for a latte and cappuccino. I asked for a refund, Which they nicely did, for the wait and said I didn’t want the drink anymore. After all, I missed out on the reason I wanted the dink, to relax before my meeting. They gave me the drink on the house which was appreciated, but all I really wanted was to pay for the drink and receive it in fair time. I didn’t want a free one nearly 30 mins later. I’ll still come and sit at the bar for a glass of wine, but not for coffee again.

I was impressed with the ambiance of the place and expected the service and food to match it. That was not the case. Our waiter was super slow and we had to send three of the five drinks back because they either weren’t made correctly or had lipstick on the rim. Each time it took almost 20 minutes for a new drink to come. And the restaurant was not busy in the slightest. My waffle was very cold when it came out and was just sick of sending things back to say anything. I won’t be eating there again.

Have a client in this building so I find myself waiting here and meeting up with colleagues before and after our client meetings. It’s a great place for good lunch food and nice service. I hung out here for a solid three hours today working on my laptop and the staff didn’t mind my taking up a table and were respectful of me getting my work done. That’s huge! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. But, when it’s summer in Minneapolis, why not eat outside? The view is of the park along the river and most tables can offer shade. The only issue today was some pesky bees. I know they serve a purpose, but they can also be irritating! :-) I usually have the Go Little Goat Herd salad, which is yummy. Hate to screw with a good thing like that, so I have rarely veered from that order. But today I decided to try the hummus sandwich. They make those own hummus in house. I was not disappointed! Definitely want to order that one again.

Wilde Roast is a typical St. Anthony Main restaurant in that the food is far from amazing and the prices make you groan. You’re paying for the view. It’s a place to go for decent food and the chance to sit on a lovely patio overlooking the river and downtown Minneapolis. If you’re coming here to sit inside, you’ll get a decent meal but probably be disappointed when you get the bill. Last time I was here I got two flatbread pizzas and they were good but nothing to write home(or Unilocal details) about. It is really worth noting that they have a gelato stand right inside the restaurant. It’s really convenient to stop by in summer to grab a little treat while you’re hanging out by the river for a walk, festivals or fireworks.

The ambiance and location is almost enough to bump this up to four stars. Prior to coming here, and halfway into my brunch, I did not know that this was named after Oscar Wilde. I guess sometimes you learn things at brunch. Located along the St. Anthony main riverfront stretch along the Mississippi, the location is ideal for a brunch and then a stroll along the riverfront. Or, better yet, getting some gelato or coffee and strolling along the riverfront. Whatever floats your boat. The menu itself is fairly straightforward, American breakfast style options. Nothing to rave about, but also quite sufficient. This places takes reservations, so if you have a mid-large size party(ie 4 – 6 ppl) this place should be ideal for you.

This place is perfectly situated on Main Street providing a gorgeous view of the river, especially if you snag a spot outside. Inside, the lighting is dim and the colors dark creating this pseudo-bohemian vibe reminiscent of my witchy phase in the 90s. I dig it, but it juxtaposes strangely alongside the almost Perkins-like entryway with lit-up cases featuring gelato and cakes. I’ve been here before for wine and appetizers during happy hour and it was a pleasant enough experience but not particularly note-worthy. However, my friends and I had a great time when we more recently came here on a Friday night for a nightcap and dessert, sitting on the patio in the moonlight and admiring the river and skyline while we sipped 90s TV-show themed cocktails and dined on gelato, flourless chocolate cake, and crème brûlée(we each ordered our own dessert and then exchanged bites). The cake was my favorite: reasonably priced, rich and delicious, and definitely shareable if you’re into that sort of thing. The cocktails were tasty but expensive, even at the slight discount during late-night happy hour, so order at your own risk. Overall, great spot to check out — especially because it’s further down than some of the main Main Street attractions and tends to be a bit more relaxed of an environment.

So the brunch is good here. Real good, but I always feel like I am being judged when I walk in. I mean, I should just make my own brunch since it’s just eggs and black beans… but I want to try to expand my options here. For some reason, I never feel comfortable. Maybe it’s because I fix the menu with my «no cheese» «no onions» «no sauce» edits and I know the chefs in the kitchen probably want to spit in my food. I’ve been here twice for brunch. We sat inside. I hear the dining experience outside is better on the patio… so I will have to try that next time. Their chai is the one thing they have gotten right the two times I’ve ordered. I normally have to send whatever I order back to the kitchen for more edits. I’m picky. I truly don’t understand why it’s so hard to just give me plain eggs and black beans in a corn tortilla without any additional toppings. One time I received cheese co-mingled with the eggs and beans. Another time I received sour cream. Sour cream! Good thing I don’t have a dairy issue. Regardless, it’s not my first choice. Like I said, I’m picky. I’m certainly not opposed to trying Wilde Roast again for a «third time’s a charm» meal…

Ehhh. First they are pet friendly yet don’t have a way to get a table without going inside where pets arnt allowed. I tried to be considerate and wait near door but people cut me walking up to the stand… my waitresses took 15 minutes to show up after being seated. No water was brought to table ever, at all. Side salad is literally leaves thrown on a plate with no extras and a piece of bread. Had the onion and sausage pizza. Was good but very greasy on the bottom. Maybe use a baking paper to soak up the grease between pizza and the board? No refill on alcohol drink was offered. I finished my dish and put card on table– 10 minute wait from that point to when the server came by again. 3 stars is generous but it was a nice neighborhood feeling bar and grill. Patio is thin but inside looks more spacey. It was a good view for people watching and a glimpse of the mississippi.

I’ve passed Wilde Roast quite a few times when I travel to St. Anthony Maine, but never managed to try it out until recently. It was one of the most pleasant dining experiences I’ve had. The service is just great. Our waitress was a sweetheart and made the whole night that much better. I had a Chi Chi LaRue, which is a Mexican inspired burger with avocado. It was a very fresh rating burger. I actually got fries accidently with it instead of chips and the staff just gave me both for free! I recommend wilde roast mainly for the great service and atmosphere. I am sure to bring friends here over and over again.

Pros: –Great location! Right on the river in St Anthony Maine. Fun to have dinner and stroll down the shops on Maine Street. –The Crème Brûlée French Toast is delicious! –Cute atmosphere. Great for conversation. Cons: –Parking is tricky on Maine Street(meters) but I think they might validate for a parking lot a few blocks away. –Groups over 5 or 6 people sit in the back section of the restaurant which isn’t as nice as the rest of the area. –Servers are average. I’ve been here several times and have never been impressed, but they are always friendly.

I really like this place and despite the difficult parking keep coming back. Wilde Roast’s food is always spot on, great spot for happy hour or brunch. Their crab cakes and tater tots are highly recommended! And for brunch you can get crab cake Benedict, and so you should. I was disappointed this past time to find out that there is no changing table in the bathroom. I know this is not the most kid friendly place but I had to haul my two month old with me to a brunch meeting, which I would typically not do, but my husband was out of town. I don’t think any place should bend over backwards to accommodate kids, but a changing table would be a nice bare minimum.

G R E A T L O C A T I O N !!! Right from the European style cobblestone street to the scenic view of the river and a bridge. The nostalgic, regal feeling is reinforced by the peacock decorating theme. Enchanting. But then, a young waiter who tried really hard to pretend he wanted to be at work, came to take our order. Very non-animated and stoic, he did his job. OK, not everyone that waits tables has a personality. The menu was rather limited, not a ton of choices. I picked the turkey meatloaf sandwich, with mashed potatoes. and waited for a tasty turkey/cranberry/baguette concoction. The baguette was wonderful. Did I mention the baguette was good? Oh man, that turkey meatloaf was about as dry as an old shoe. It didn’t even have any flavor. To add insult, there was just a hint of the cranberry/apple relish instead of a nice juicy helping. :-( I will speculate that this was a bad judgement call by the cook. After all, profits don’t happen when you have to throw out questionable food. Icky. Turkey Burgers and meatloaf are difficult to get moist much less maintain it for a couple days. If it can’t be presented in a consistently moist state, maybe take it off the menu. At least I had a chocolate gelato on the way out, which kind of helped. I have had better gelato too. But, the company was the best, and the weather wasn’t below 0. There was a dessert case with incredible looking treats. I wish I would have ordered a dessert and coffee instead. It could have been an off-day, or maybe takeout lunches aren’t their thing. However, there’s no way I will ever pay $ 15.50 for a sandwich and fries and not expect an amazing sandwich. My sandwich was far, far from amazing, and a $ 15.50 subpar sandwich reflects poorly on the whole establishment. I knew Wilde Roast was pricey, but I had a short lunch and limited non-pricey options when I was working in the Riverplace building. Since my sandwich options were between $ 10.99 and $ 13.99, I thought what’s a few bucks, and got the Boise TBLT with fries. I called twenty minutes ahead and the box lunch was ready for me, and cost $ 15.50 with tax. It’s okay, I’mma treat myself! No. Old, slimy mixed greens on my sandwich is not okay, nor is soggy bread. The pulled turkey was very tasty and the bacon was good, but the slimy brown lettuce ruined it. I paid a dollar extra to substitute fries for chips, and the fries were limp and soggy, greasy in not a good way. If this meal cost $ 8, I would have shrugged, peeled off the nasty lettuce and made a mental note to never get the fries again. But it cost almost twice that much, and I’m pissed. I thought about showing them the lettuce, but what would they do? Give me a coupon? I’m rarely in that area and wouldn’t go out of my way for discount par-subpar food. That evening I picked up groceries to make dinner for four at Kowalski’s(NOTCHEAP), and my total was $ 9.50. I thought about the sandwich more, then I was really pissed. Man, now I can’t stop thinking about that sandwich. Yes, it’s a beautiful location and nice dining space, but man do they charge a premium for it.

My first time at Wilde Roast was with a group of friends and we must have ordered every dish on the happy hour menu: And everything was delicious!!! I’m a really big fan of this place mainly because they let me lounge around for hours on end when I need to get some work done. It’s a really cute place with great gelato, good drinks, and pretty tasty food. Their happy hour prices are cheap(half off apps) and their Tator tots are cooked perfectly every time. Love: Tator tots with spicy mayo, hot chocolate, apple sausage With smoked Gouda fondue, Thai chicken pizza, breakfast sandwich on brioche bread, sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce. Pasta nachos with half chicken half sausage, carrot cake, grapefruit sorbet Loathe: garlic edamame, chai tea latte, flour less chocolate cake Service note: The baristas are super friendly and fast when you order drinks — the wait staff are very personable and seem pretty genuine when they talk to you about things outside of the menu. The gelato servers are always down to give you samples too!

On my first visit to Wilde Roast I tried the sirloin salad for lunch on the patio. The visit was overall satisfactory but nothing really jumped out at me as unique. I liked that my salad had arugula instead of lettuce and had ample dressing on it without getting soggy. My sirloin left the most to be desired as it was a little small and the pieces were about half tough, making chewing more difficult. I also tend to like a lot of cheese or other toppings on my salads and I’d say this one was minimalistic with other toppings. The staff was nice and knowledgeable about the food, which I always appreciate! I’d go back and try it again during happy hour.

Was brought here for a Thursday lunch by a Local on a recent trip to the Twin Cities and really enjoyed it. Loved the atmosphere, the location, and the food was quite good. We started with an order of the Tater Tots and a few of the dipping sauces(at 50 cents each). It comes with a very good ketchup. The sauces we ordered were the siracha mayo, sweet chili sauce and horsey mayo. The only disappointment was the siracha one. Siracha means heat to me, and this had barely more of any kind of flavor than plain mayo. No big deal, as the rest were quite tasty. I also had the Crab Cake Salad, which was nice and light. The other two had the French Dip and Grilled Reuben. Both were happy with their selections. Service was on the slow side, but that was fine with us as we were in no hurry.

Expensive and not good. Loved the atmosphere inside and out on the patio, but wouldn’t go back based on the quality of the food. Had the Go Goat Herd Salad and added a crab cake for a total of $ 17. The crab cake was a like a lump of mushy, warm tuna salad. Yuck. The goat cheese came in two tiny round lumps on top of the greens. Difficult to distribute in bites of greens. Also at my table was the cheese flat bread. Disappointing. Thick layer of cheese on the thinnest crust you couldn’t even see or hardly pick up. The Turkey BLT had way too much lunch meat so that there weren’t any other flavors and the toast was just plain boring wheat. Also disappointing. Three meals and three strikes. You are out Wilde Roast!
