If you want a place to shake your tail feathers this is definitely THE spot in uptown to do it. Great food specials during the week and awesome happy hour deals. $ 1 burger on Mondays and $.25 wings on Wednesday.

I went on a friend date with my main lady friend to see Brooklyn at the Lagoon. I cried SOMUCH because love is beautiful and I happen to have a thing for an Italian man. Anyways, we wanted to grab dinner before the movie and Fremont is conveniently located on the same block. It’s the sister bar to a bunch of other bars, which is cool or whatever. Overall, the experience was pretty good. The atmosphere is kind of upscale, sports bar and club. Lots of grey and metal and large TVs. It was a rainy, cold Tuesday so the place was not exactly hopping. Metallic places like this really need warm bodies to look inviting, but it is definitely modern and clean. The bartender was very friendly. We chatted with him throughout our time. He had some passionate views about the new Star Wars, which I disagreed with, but the conversation was all in good fun. The bar is well stocked. Their tap list is pretty decent with a few local craft brews and some old favorites. They have a bunch of tasty sounding cocktails but we didn’t try any. The food is a step above a classic sports bar but it needs some improvements. I want to give them some credit since this place is kind of new, but I like my food with more of a kick. We ordered the mac n’ cheese bites as an app and I got a crabcake wrap for dinner. The mac n’ cheese bites were trying to be classy but I want my mac n’ cheese bites to be oozing with cheese. They were good but the subtly almost read as lacking the comfort food feel. The crabcake wrap was HUGE! Props to that. If I am spending like $ 13 for a wrap, it best feed me for two meals. The crabcake was mostly cake but that’s not surprising in a land-locked state. It needed more old bay. Like a lot more. But I am also a crabcake snob so, in general, it was tasty. My friend got some boneless wings and the flavor was pretty good, but she reported that they were a little dry. The run down: I would come here to drink and watch a game(if I cared) or dance with uptown folks and grab a snack. It’s on par with any other slighty fancy sports bar around the cities and I imagine the food will improve as they get established.

$ 1 burgers on Mondays. And I don’t meant $ 1 for the burger and patty only and add $ 1 each for cheese, tomatos, etc… that $ 1 includes everything!(Add ~$ 2 for bacon though). The catch is that you need to order a drink, but that’s already a given. This is truly a spectacular Monday night deal… and I’m sure it won’t last forever so get it while it’s hot! Plenty of TVs if you wanna watch sports, good seating at the bar, good food, pleasant service. The Fremont earned its 5 stars because it basically did nothing wrong. Heard this place turns into a club at night with a young crowd. Have yet to check it out.

Tried really hard to like it. This was our second attempt at The Fremont and unfortunately the experience was much like our first. Uptown really needs a spot to dance but this place is suffering from an identity crisis and a staff that lacks the ability to use common sense. Both visits were on chilly nights and the only open spots at the bar were at the east end near the entrance. The space does have double doors with a small foyer but they keep the inner doors open so any time a new victim arrives, those at the west end of the bar are hit with a cold blast. You would think when the bartenders see an entire end of the bar wearing parkas, they might ask themselves why and perhaps make an attempt to make their patrons comfortable. Instead, they kicked us while we were down and took our chairs away. Yes, seriously– they took our chairs. I could see the logic if the place was filling up, but a look back to the open doors revealed nothing more than 2 smokers letting in more cold air. Good luck Fremont.

The 3 chili wings are amazing! — and the waffle fries are flawless. I would come back again 100%

*Note: This review pertains only to the nightlife /«club» portion of this establishment. The reincarnation of Bar Abilene is not far off the mark from the original, like a rat reborn a weasel. Its design strives for more posh and classy over down-and-dirty Bar Abilene, but this façade crumbles in the presence of a crude hip-hop spinning DJ, poor acoustics, super sloppy college-age students, and a dining room-turned-dance floor where booths are transformed into VIP seating. I didn’t pay for drinks(sure they were a rip), but I did pay for a highly regrettable $ 5 cover charge. All around undesirable, but I’m sure the Fremont will thrive as there remains little dance-floor competition in the Uptown market.

Short review: pricey, average food, loud. Long review: On a Saturday evening I visited The Fremont for the first time and it will be my LAST. Showed up around 9 for a late dinner with my girlfriend. Little did i know they owners lied when they said this is a bar and restaurant. It is a bar and NIGHTCLUB. It always feels good when they seat you at a table in the middle of the room with no other table near you, because they have begun to clear out tables for the NIGHTCLUB. So we moved to the bar because they also feel the need to keep the door open on a 40 degree night. The bartender was average, he seemed ready to turn out shots and $ 5 cans of PBR not customer service. The food is good but a little overpriced for wings and appetizers. Small menu so don’t show up expecting much for a choice. To top it off around 945 a bouncer came up to us at the bar and told us that in 10 minutes he was going to take our chairs. Take our chairs? What? Again this is a NIGHTCLUB keep expectations low if you decide to give it a try.

Great place! Nice modern design, lots of TVs, good music, cheap beer and tasty food. Very happy for the addition to uptown, regular watering hole was sorely needed!

I went to the Fremont on Saturday, the first weekend they were open. The Fremont is owned by the same people that own Hammer and Sickle next door. I went to the bar for a drink in the afternoon but ended up staying the whole night(oops). Brittney was our bartender most of the night and she really did a good job. A true pro. The rest of staff we interacted with was professional and friendly too. We got the Crab and Artichoke Dip and the Spicy Shrimp. Both were really good. We also tried the XXX Hot Wings and wow, those are the hottest wings or anything I’ve ever tasted. The peppers they use are twice as hot as ghost peppers. At 10, the place turned into a nightclub. Decent crowd, everyone seemed to be having a good time. As far as I know, the Fremont is the only nightclub in Uptown and it’s nice to have one around if you’re into that. Overall, The Fremont seems a good addition to Uptown and a worthy replacement to Bar Abilene.
