They have one of the best patios in town. The food was good, the cauliflower dish was something I would definitely have again, and the ribs were really tasty. The one thing that will keep me from going back was that they had dance music playing so loud inside and upstairs on the patio this last Saturday that I couldn’t stand it, and I love to dance! There are too many other places to pick from with good food, where I don’t have to shout. And if they choose to cater to 20 something Uptowners, that’s totally cool and I’ll stay away, but I think the space is too large and the menu too pricey to just cater to that crowd.

I’ve only been to Libertine for their weekend brunch, and I will keep going back. Their breakfast drink menu is exciting and you want to try them all. Their food menu is on the smaller side, however, you’ll be staring at the menu for a while wondering which option is the best because all of it looks good. I would recommend the Banana Bread French Toast and the Croque Madame sandwich. Expect to pay a little more, especially if you do get persuaded to try more than one drink, but prices aren’t unreasonable. During the summer time my friends and I love being on rooftops, and Libertine’s does not disappoint. The first time we went we were seated around the corner of the bar and were pretty sheltered from the wind, which would have been nice if it wasn’t so hot out. So, depending on what the weather is like, the rooftop can get a little warm. Libertine has a fun atmosphere with friendly and helpful service. It’s a great place to go with a group of people and I cannot wait to go back and try their other menu.

First time at a rooftop restaurant and really enjoyed it! For appetizer I got the bokchoy with miso and that was delicious. Would really recommend that dish. I later ordered the spatchcocked chicken. It’s not worth $ 22 in my opinion. Other than that the view and atmosphere was great and our server was wonderful as well.

Terrible, terrible service… the staff was rarely to be found despite it being not that busy, and when they were they seemed to try to rush past and avoid eye contact and in general were apathetic to our plight — mainly, that we came to this place for food and drink, but had to unexpectedly wage a battle to procure the basics. The food was also just ok vs what we had hoped for. Is the mostly twenty something crowd less demanding of good service to allow this establishment to remain in business?

Upscale, very modern and trendy place with a decidedly millennial feel to it. The atmosphere is nice — the inside is well-decorated, and the rooftop is absolutely lovely in the evening with the breeze and the sunset. Service is attentive and friendly. The menu is somewhat on the smaller side, which means you have fewer options but you know they’re good at what they do have. Ask the server what they recommend. My siblings, who went to dinner there with me, got the lamb and brie lucy and the cheddar bratwurst burger and raved about how delicious their meals were. I had the steak burger, and it was good as well. My sister’s only complaint was that there was a slight mixup when she ordered wine and the waiter brought the wrong kind(a more expensive kind, I might add). Libertine isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s not ridiculously pricey either. Expect to pay 20 – 30 for your meal, more if you want to get appetizers and cocktails or wine. Overall, it’s not a place I’d frequent on the regular, but it was a fun atmosphere, good food, good service, and a memorable experience. Note: If you go to the rooftop bar in the evening, you might want to have a light jacket with you — it gets a little windy and chilly up there sometimes.

Nothing beats Libertine Sky Bar in the Spring and Summer! And if you head down to the first floor you should consider the wings. Darn good. The pretzel and cheese is one of my favorites. Happy hour has some great deals, and the specialty drinks are unique and well designed. For dinner you can’t go wrong with the pork chop. Kudos to the staff for listening to customer requests and adding non-alcoholic beverages.

This place was disappointing to say the least. However, there were a few redeeming factors. My cousins and I came here for a late night meal on a Friday night around 9/9:30 pm. I didn’t think it was late for a restaurant in Uptown but I honestly don’t think the kitchen was prepared to be cooking at this time because the food took ages to come out. The service wasn’t that great either, our waitress was slow to come around to take our order and to give us our bill in the end. My favorite part about the restaurant was the décor. I’m a sucker for wooden tables and at one point during the meal, I seriously considered taking one home with me — sadly it didn’t fit in my car(just kidding). The lighting in the restaurant was dim but had a nice ambience to it. There were real candles lit on this floor centerpiece(no idea what it’s actually called) next to our table which gave the area a nice glow. I would have given this place a 2 star if not for their $ 7 Jalapeño Buttermilk Fried Half-Chicken(with chipotle honey sauce)… yes you read it right, it was SEVENDOLLARS. WHAT A STEAL. Sadly, it was a bit disappointing taste-wise. The chicken was lacking in crispiness and the taste was underwhelming. The Tuna Poke Taco appetizer was delicious but I thought the seaweed salad at the bottom over-powered the flavor of the tuna poke. I hear there’s brunch so I might come back to try that another time.

I must have had bad luck based on all the other great reviews, but not a great meal here today. Came for a late brunch on the roof around 1:30, didn’t seem too busy, but perhaps there wasn’t enough staff. We sat unattended for a good fifteen minutes before asking a waitress if she would be attending us. «I can be,» she replied. We ordered our drinks and food, and my son asked for chocolate milk. Our waitress responded by saying, «I would have to go downstairs to make it, but I can do that if you really want it.» He’s 7, so, yes, he really wants most things he asks for generally… anyway, between servers dropping glasses all around us and having to wait at least ten minutes before even having an opportunity to request anything, even a refill on soda, I can’t rate this place highly. Food is pretty good, so I give them an extra star for that, but the service really tarnished our experience.

So, we finally got around to hitting this place, and maybe I got there on a bad day. When the people who worked there were having a bad day, And the kitchen was mailing it in. But I have to give it this review. My experience here was godawful. I hit the place on an early Saturday evening. We were seated quickly, and waited on initially for a drink order and that went ok. The waitress then wandered off for a pretty long time before she came back and took our order. She got real disinterested in us, for some reason. Appetizer came out pretty quick, and then the wait for our food went on. Meanwhile we had three different plates brought to our table that we did not order — that was for the people next to us. Also, several tables were seated after us, and the waitress got their orders going. While we waited we got to watch them eat. SO, almost an hour after we sat down, we tried to get her attention as she wandered by again, and she finally came over and informed us that the bacon chop takes a little longer. That might be true, of course, but an honest«Your order got screwed up» works a bit better. Because there isn’t anything about that chop that takes almost an hour. I did the math that some other table got delivered our food the way we almost got someone else’s. Chaotic service is pretty obvious here. The food came out seconds later, and since that is what people want to know about, here you go: eh. The bacon chop — described as what they are known for — is a thick cut pork chop, with fat that is typically trimmed off at the butcher. Mine was pretty charred. It comes with a single onion ring that has some over toasted green in the middle. It was decent — tasted ok, and pretty big. But, for almost an hour wait, and around $ 25, you can get a decent pork chop at any restaurant. I’m not quite sure what the bacon tie-in was, unless some of that char started as bacon. Whatever — food like that you can get done as well at Applebee’s. For less. Faster. With a more attentive and pleasant waiter, Hard to find a less attentive waiter than ours. The shrimp appetizer was nice. It was delivered within 10 minutes of being ordered, arrived hot. The shrimp arrives head on, and with a pile of uncut chilli peppers. The heat was fairly mild as far as the shrimp, but the peppers themselves had some bite. Everything was fairly oily or fatty. Nothing wrong with that. The décor is nice, and there was a good mix of people, but overall the vibe is this is a great place to get your hipster self in a state where you lighten the bank account while having your friends take your car keys away. This is a booze hole with a roof to drink and eat on. And pricey funky food. It’s Uptown. You can do that in a lot of places. You can’t swing a 30 year old guy with a beard over your head without hitting one. So, seeing as this place has a lot of good reviews, but a fairly persistent strain of experiences like I had, try some place else.

I honestly don’t know why I haven’t reviewed yet, we’re here literally at least once a week. The first thing I’d like to mention is my boyfriend was not really about craft cocktails or going out to eat often. Now things couldn’t be more different! We have been for brunch, happy hour, dinner and sometimes just a drink and a snack nd it has been nothing short of stellar each time. Honestly, either of us have never gotten anything we didn’t like and we’ve tried half of the menu at least. The service has always been great from bartenders to servers to bar backs and food runners, never had a sub par experience. That being said, I think I know where we are getting dinner this weekend

Them cocktails is gooooood. I can’t speak to the food because I’ve only had one thing on happy hour(the Salmon Tartare, which was delightful). But their cocktails(and happy hour prices!) are bangin’! The Libertine cocktail, which is also offered on happy hour, is my total fav. And packs a mean punch. I always sit at the bar when I am here and the staff are great. Really friendly, keep the water glasses full, you get the idea.

I gave it 4 stars only because our server was really fun and great to us. I ended up here for a random birthday celebration only because I wanted to try the bone marrow shot. To try the bone marrow shot, you had to order the bone marrow toast appetizer so we started with that and the steak tartare. The steak tartare was decent. I’ve had better but I ad a few drinks and was really hungry so I ate it all. Kinda wished it had more of an oomph to it but if I were to come back, I would order it again. The bone marrow was also decent. Nothing too great about it. I felt it could have had a better taste to it. It was a little too bland for me. Finally, the bone marrow shot! I asked the server to be gentle when pouring and he did just that. Its a shot. what else can I say??? The bone marrow was bland to start off with so it didn’t add any flavor to the shot itself. Good experience though.

I come to Libertine often for their cheap happy hour. My husband and I decided to finally check out their dinner menu one night. Strolled in on a Saturday night and was told there would be about a 20 minute wait, so we grabbed a drink at the bar. Once we were advised our table was ready, we were seated in the back. I ordered the steak burger. Would have been good, except for the fact that it was sooo greasy. Literally dripping in grease. My husband had the bacon porkchop, which he said was a little too fatty for his taste… and he usually likes hearty cuts of meat. Service also seemed a little slow. I feel like we should have just stayed at the bar to eat and we would have had much better service. Overall, not real impressed with the food, which makes me sad because I have heard great things about this place. Will I come back here for happy hour, though? Definitely.

The Libertine has lived up to their wonderful reviews! The hubby and I recently visited for a special birthday dinner(pour moi) and we were both equally impressed with the food. They have managed to work with the space(formerly Cafeteria) and create a bit of ambiance, however it is still clear that it was formerly a crowded bar-focused type spot. Easy enough to get over. I started with a beet salad(licked my plate) and my husband who is normally a very meat and potatoes type of diner, decided to branch out and try their carrot salad and was delighted by the flavors in his salad, including the really nice spiced dressing that had all sorts of yummy cumin, saffron flavors going on. I snuck a bite. I went with the house made sausages for my entrée and it was such a delightful mix of sweet in the tomato sauce and spicy in the sausage. It was nicely paired with some thinly sliced peppers and onions and was the perfect portion. I was impressed to see an eclectic mix of Italian influence, Asian flare, and other strong American dishes on their menu. Something for everyone! The husband of course has to try their Bacon Chop, and woah… that was kind of mind blowing. The whole chop still had the pork belly along with the chop, so the whole piece tasted like a smoky flavored bacon, super juicy… just get it. That’s all. Finally I want to mention how lovely our server was; he had great suggestions throughout the night, and was kind enough to insist on a chocolate dessert on the house for my birthday. I couldn’t refuse, so in return I decided to order another glass of Merlot(which was also wonderful). He was attentive and his supporting staff was also very kind and always taking care of us. Wonderful all around!

3.5 Stars! Arrived on Sunday evening — the place was pretty empty. Loved the atmosphere, ambiance, and the private booths! Bone Marrow Toast My first time trying bone marrow in a restaurant! Way too salty until we discovered lots of capers on top of the bone marrow(dim lighting inside), so we removed all the capers, and it was so much better! Loved the bacon jam, wondering if I can buy some actually! Bacon Chop It’s like super thick seared bacon! Even though there is a lot of fat but it didn’t make me feel too guilty or greasy — maybe because they got a pretty nice sear on it? We ate the onion ring garnish too, and we enjoyed it! Feta Stuffed Mushrooms Not sure if this is worth $ 10 as a side dish — $ 2 for each stuffed mushroom… Overall, I can’t quite decide if this dinner was worth $ 50(before tips) but I crossed a place off my Twin Cities eating bucket list. I will probably be back to try their brunch menu though!

Last night was our first time at Libertine. The restaurant décor and atmosphere was beyond beautiful, the candle arrangement is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. The service was pretty average, it was a Sunday night and not busy whatsoever but the waitress took FOREVER to come back to the table. I felt like most of the night was spent waiting for her to come back. THEFOODWASAMAZING. Every plate we got was delicious and so beautifully presented. We will definitely be returning.

Well it was my very first time at this place and it gets 2 stars for its atmosphere & vibe. I found out its in the Uptown area of Minneapolis. There is something similar in my hometown of Dallas, so I kinda was prepared for it. Walked in and it was exactly what I expected. The style, look, and crowd. As for the food, I was disappointed. It was named as one of the top places to get a steak at in Minneapolis. I came here to get a steak and had been ready for one all day as it was my birthday meal. I ordered the Butchers cut steak medium rare so it wouldn’t be overcooked since I like it medium. Guess what happened? It came out well done! Being from Texas, when you say butchers cut, it comes out a decent size. This was basically a 16 oz steak. As a person who eats steak all the time, I know the ends of the meat cook faster than the middle so after I cut those off, I figured I would get to the goodness. Not at all! There wasn’t a single sight of pinkness anywhere! I still tried a couple bites to get the flavor and it was ok. I didn’t care for the horseradish sauce that they put on it nor does it list that would be on top. If I would have known that, I would have requested for it to not be added. I’m an old school guy who enjoys just the steak. No sauce, ketchup, etc just the steak. They did comp the steak and offered to bring out another. I kindly passed and decided to leave to try to get a steak at Outback or Texas Roadhouse. The next time I visit, I won’t be going to Libertine again and definitely wouldn’t recommend getting the steak.

Beer selection — make sure you like the specialties. If you don’t, you’ll be drinking ice tea. Food — ok. Just ok. The pork was over sauced as the chef tries to over compensate for the dry pulled meat he uses. The cheese curds are soggy and overly salty and the the lettuce wraps were just blah. If you’re in uptown and thirsty for an IPA stop for a beer but if your hungry there are plenty of other great food spots in uptown, don’t waste you’re time here.

Went for brunch. All you can drink bloody Mary’s could have kept me there all day. Great staff, friendly people. I had the salmon Benedict. Wow was it good. Bartender told me about the bone marrow toast, which I noticed a group having. Looked awesome and after you are done you can use the empty bone as a luge for shots. Oh ya. I will be back for that.

Food: 5⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Cleanliness: 5⁄5 Décor & Style: 5⁄5 One of the best rooftop bars I’ve ever been to and mainly because of the food they serve. I guess I should say they have the best food selection for a bar that I can remember in the recent past. Tartare was great, meat and cheese selection was great, cheddar bratwurst, chicken, you name it, all flavorful, and this is BAR food! Décor was excellent as well with a good view. Roomy and plenty of space, and they regulate how many people can come up to the rooftop bar(so it doesn’t get over crowded). The service was a slow though, looks like they were understaff(or preferred to be understaff for profitable reasons). See the pics!

We went here for brunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We went up to the roof patio which is beautiful and lovely although bring sunglasses since the glare can be quite extreme. One challenge we had were the servers. It took them forever to serve us and we had 2 – 3 different waiters over the course of the meal. I was never entirely sure what each person was doing. Given the number of people up there, it was surprising how long it took them to get our order together. Moreover, they didn’t notice our substitutions. I asked for the broccoli instead of the fries on my dish(and got both) while my Dad asked for a side of bacon, which they brought late. When he asked for syrup, he was almost done eating by the time it arrived. I ordered the cheddar bratwurst burger and the broccoli while my Dad got the banana bread french toast with a side of bacon. He also ordered a drink, the Santa Muerta, which was so spicy that he could barely drink it. My cheddar bratwurst burger was fine, although be aware that this is certainly not a meat burger. It was not clear to me when I ordered, even after I asked for a description of the food. The bread it comes with is quite thick so be prepared for large bites. The sauteed broccoli was also good, although be prepared for spicy florets, since the chili flavoring really sticks to the broccoli tops. My dad loved the banana bread french toast(it comes with nutella on top and rum whip cream). He thought it was delicious and the bacon was well cooked. Overall, it was a perfectly adequate brunch with a few service issues. If you want to do patio seating around Uptown, this would be a good place to check out.

3.75 of 5 for food 4⁄5 service This was a good meat stop. We got the pork ribs, lamb ribs, argentine short rib, easy coast(Chesapeake bay) raw oysters, steak tartare, and kale. The Korean pork ribs were really good. They were a bit too hot spicy sauce wise as it took away from the great rib meat. The lamb ribs were tasty with a honey sauce. Argentine short rib was also good. Raw oysters were just okay, but we were in Minneapolis after all at a meat place! All in all a good protein place with good meats. The lamb ribs were the best of the lot. See photos.

I’m having a really hard time figuring out what to give this place… But you can consider this a 3.5. Here are my list of thoughts, from worst to best. –Their Bloody Mary is the WORST Bloody Mary I have had in the past year. They hyped it up, saying it was good. It was not– so much horseradish. I didn’t even finish it. Maybe the bartender accidentally messed up on this, but wow. So bad. They had an liquored up iced coffee concoction that finally got the horseradish taste out of my mouth(and was really good on it’s own, too!). –Their«happy hour» deals are iffy at best. I guess this isn’t the type of place for a happy hour though, but with such a lovely rooftop it really should be. –The food I’ve had has been good for the most part. I’ve only done happy hours and brunches here, but both of those menus have tons of different options. Favorites include the breakfast burger and the pigs ears(tried these on a #TryDayFriday– never looking back– like pork rinds meets calamari). –The rooftop and atmosphere is SO much better than Cafeteria’s. Cafeteria hurt my eyes. It was so ugly. This new décor is like Nate Berkus meets a whiskey collector meets an editor from Dwell magazine’s Instagram account. I’m glad they kept the rooftop the same, just made it more masculine and mature. Don Draper would come here if he was an Edina dad. –The service has been great! At a place with a menu that can get confusing and elicits a lot of questions and mispronounciations(both the food and the drinks), it’s nice being able to put faith in your servers. They clearly know the menu and want you to leave satisfied and impressed, and it shows. Libertine is like, two blocks away from me, and while I doubt it will become a regular spot, it’s definitely one I wouldn’t say no to. Great service, atmosphere, and a creative menu all help make it a worthwhile and unique meal.

Ate on the rooftop patio. There is a different menu from downstairs. Loved the beet salad with whipped feta and I am not even a beet fan. The rhubarb dessert was insane. The fish tacos were unlike any taco I have ever had. The fish was sushi tuna and the shell was a fried wonton. Interesting! Husbo LOVED the pineapple habanero margaritas. The server warned him it was spicy. I took a sip and it was literally killer. I wouldn’t be able to drink it. HOT! The food was great, but the best part was the rooftop view. Across the street Stella’s patio seemed to float in the clouds. We could even see people in an outdoor pool and hot tub with glass sides in the condo complex. Peeping?! ;)

E-I-E-I-OOOO So Yummy! If Old MacDonald had a restaurant with all of his mooers, oinkers, baaers, cluckers with some swimmers and growing plants on your prairie and readily available to enjoy, you could find that exact establishment, but not in the middle of know where in a small farm town. You would however find it in a vibrant city and in a neighborhood known for a wide variety of cuisine. Uptown is the neighborhood and Libertine is the place to be. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and while we thoroughly enjoy going to some of our favorite spots for special occasions, we’re always looking to spread our wings and check out a new place as well. Libertine was on our list to check out and it was the perfect evening to do so. The establishment itself is very trendy and cool looking on the inside and after you sit down, you’re greeted by a very enthusiastic server. You’re sitting and you know you want a cold beverage, Libertine has quite the elaborate drink creations, all of them sound superb and my wife went with a Sailor Friend –vodka, blueberry vanilla cardamom. I went the easy way out and with my ultimate favorite drink, Crown and Diet. While you enjoy your adults or non-adults and a first timer, it’s time for a crash course on the menu. Their amazing chef selects cuts that are typically only known to the butcher world, secrets if you will. Libertine decided it was time to stop with the secrets and let others taste some of the best cuts of meat you’ll ever have. I was looking at the menu all day and very much indecisive about what I was going to get and while the server taught us all about Old MacDonald’s cherished animals, my mouth started to water. After our five minute animal education class, we were ready to make our selections. We started with with plants and went with a Avocado Salad. Half an avocado sliced thinly and topped with citrus, blue crab, olive oil and hot peppers. My wife knows me very well and I’m not a big fan of avocado’s, but blue crabs and hot peppers on the other hand, well… I suppose. I would have ordered 10 more! What an absolutely amazing dish and a must get. My wife decided that her cut of moo moo which originated from the upper leg, back and rear end area. Described to us like only our server could, my wife was all over it — full of flavor, plenty of marbling and the steak version of a slow cooked roast. The Point Steak with herb-marrow butter was very delicious, full of flavor and our server was spot on. Yes, you should try it, but it’s the next dish that will have going back for more. I’m certainly known for my love for Juicy’s and a good burger and on Libertine’s menu, you’ll find their version, but from a baa baa and that immediately grabbed my attention. Lamb and Brie Lucy! Oh, I’ll be going back for this bad boy, but I decided to check something else out that my server persuaded me to try and still lamb. The Saddle Chop! After my server told me it was like the t-bones of the steak world and cooked to perfection, as lamb should be, he had me! One bite in and I wanted to order another and another and another. It was hands down the best cut and prepared lamb dish I have had and I have enjoyed plenty of outstanding lamb around the Twin Cities. My wife loved her steak, but kept eyeing up my lamb after just one bite as well. Your main meal will not come with a side, instead they have plenty of shareables to choose from and went with Baby Potatoes with olive oil, crème fraiche and chives. Here a potato, there a potato, all potatoes are the same! Libertine uses a wide variety of the potato family, they arrive to your table cooked perfectly and are of course, tasty. If you’re not an adventurous eater like my wife and I are, then this is must get, but there is plenty on the menu worth considering. If the founders of Libertine truly had a friendship Old MacDonald, I sure am thankful they decided to team up. A return to Libertine is a guarantee and everyone should consider paying them a visit. If eating animals aren’t your thing, no worries, they have a Not Animal section, but I think I’ll stick with the runners, swimmers and flyers!

Libertine… does it mean a person who is unrestrained in religious thinking or sexually? One dictionary says it means a rake. I am not talking about a tool to clean up falling leaves. If you haven’t read romance novel in awhile, the illustration of Fabio on the cover is pretty much a rake — a noble gentleman that can and will screw any girls he wants. In food and in this restaurant, it’s no Fabio. It’s more than a long hair blond male bimbo with pecs of steel and hands so strong that he could swoop your dainty lassie body with no effort and made you scream in ecstasy with his bone. Well, I take it back. When the bone marrow came, I think all of us three girls were screaming in ecstasy. Each of us can’t get our hand on to that big bone fast enough and slather that fat on the toast. The bacon jam. Oh my. The bacon jam… So goooood. One of my friends, Kristie, who never had marrow before said she never tasted anything more flavorful. Yeah, I learned that anything with fat is good. Way good. Except Fabio. Fat Fabio? He’s ugly being ripped. I was a bit disappointed though that it was brunch menu at noon. I wanted lunch but there were more breakfast type foods and the lunchy type didn’t perk my interest. I wanted beef especially after looking at their menu illustration online with the cow. They are libertine with their foods. I could see some cool stuff mixed with ordinary familiar dishes. I went with the most boring thing in the menu, steak and eggs. I just really wanted beef. Adele got the fried chicken and waffles and Kristie went for the lamb and brie lucy. Chicken and waffles were probably the best one as I didn’t try the lamb burger. I hate lamb. I didn’t even try but Kristie loved it and she thought it was a fantastic combo. I tried her potato wedge and it was yummy. The chicken was great as well but compared to Boulud’s chicken last week at DBGB, I must say theirs was better. However, it wasn’t bad at all but not as juicy. The waffles were pretty fantastic though and I could drink the syrup by the gallon. My steak had great flavor especially with that garlic parmesan topping. However, there was a big muscle in between my cut. Mh… That wasn’t expected and wasn’t good. Plus, they never gave me a steak knife. If I was expected to cut my steak with a butter knife, let it be like butter. So I had one chunk of meat I couldn’t eat. It was no big deal. I was full anyway. I didn’t even mention it to anyone. We tried the adult twinkie as my friends had to tell our server we were there to celebrate my birthday. The twinkie is their regular birthday treat they give away for free. It was much better than Hostess’ twinkie of course and it was filled with nutella. Yummmm! It was good! I really love our server too. He’s good and very personable. He gave us a little tip here and there about the food but he was pretty low key, just perfect. At the end, I noticed I chipped two of my front teeth. I was quite distraught when I realized it as boom, I just felt I was missing parts of my teeth and didn’t know how it happened. It’s not the restaurant’s fault though but I felt like Fabio just slapped me across the face for calling him Fat Fab. Or Flab. I don’t know. It didn’t end all that well for me emotionally but the food was awesome, service was great, and I had a good time. If I had my teeth all in tact and not look like a meth addict it would have been much better. Both of my friends loved it too and want to go back with their significant others. I want to go back too. I want to try their cocktails. It was a dry brunch as these friends of mine don’t usually drink. The cocktail menu looked great and I won’t have an issue getting Jenny A and Kara D to go out drinking with me. Elderberry. Mhmh… *calling Sam.*

This is my new favorite place! Came here for my birthday and had a great experience! Note: I tried making a reservation on Friday for Saturday around 7pm for 4 people and the only options were 5:30pm or 8:45pm so if you are going to make reservations do it way ahead of time! You can also come just to sit in the lounge, which is first come first serve. Our server was the best server I have ever had! His name was Ret and he provided the best service I have ever experienced! He was very helpful and friendly! He went over his recommended and noted that the meats are a la carte and do not come with a side. I decided to get the Beef Bacon BLT and wanted a side so I split the Green Beans. I was a little disappointed when I got my BLT and it came with a side of potato wedges cause I wouldn’t have ordered the green beans if I knew I was getting a side already. BUT the green beans were amazing so I quickly got over the disappointment. They are in a sesame sauce that is amazing! Also shared the smoked salmon and«greens» plant. The smoked salmon was good but is closer to the raw side. Comes with good sauce and some nuts to pair. The greens was pretty simple with roasted chicken, blue cheese and hazelnuts. I would recommend as a side but it is a bigger portion so two people could split it and each have enough for a side dish. For my birthday they gave us a complimentary«adult twinkie» that was a twinkie with nutella on the inside with a scoop of chocolate ice cream and a thin piece of rich chocolate. Very delicious! I will be back and would love to bring out of town friends here.

I went to Libertine last Saturday night with a group of 5. Our reservation was at 6:30pm, and we got seated right away. Our whole experience was worthy of 5 stars! Cocktails = 4⁄5: My favorite was the Lady Alyssa — I love a good sparkling cocktail. I also tried the Yes Please, and although delicious, it was too sweet for me and would be more of a dessert cocktail. The men in the group were fans of the Libertine and Star Child, and thought the Shadow Knows was okay. Cocktail prices were very reasonable($ 7 to $ 11), and the beer list was good as well Appetizers = 5⁄5: I read about the bone marrow appetizer on Unilocal,so knew we had to try that. Our server also suggested the beet salad and the avocado and crab. All 3 dishes were spectacular. The bone marrow was a fun appetizer. There is a complimentary shot that your server gives you through the bone(to get every piece of marrow) if you would like. I opted out, but my boyfriend and brother each took a shot through the bone, and they said it was really smooth! The beet salad was divine. It was not something I would normally order, but the perfectly cooked multicolored beets with the whipped feta was so delicious, that I would order it every time I get to Libertine. The avocado and crab was good, but I don’t know if I would order this again. Of the 3 dishes, I felt like I could make this(or something similar at home), so although I enjoyed it, I don’t need to order it again. Meat = 5⁄5: I had the spatchcocked chicken at the recommendation of the server(can you tell there is a theme that our amazing server recommended great dishes?!). I make a lot of chicken at home, but I have never made chicken like this at home. It was so moist and lemony. Other meats ordered at the table included the bacon chop, saddle chop, and point steak. Everyone was raving about their meats, and I didn’t get a bite of all of them because they were gone so quickly(even though the portions are large). Sides = 5⁄5: Since the meat doesn’t come with a side(besides 1 onion ring), we ordered a few for the table to split. The cauliflower was the standout. Dessert = 5⁄5: Both the chocolate caramel sea salt tart and the apple crisp hit the spot. None of us were very hungry by the time we got to dessert, but we managed to scarf these down with not a crumb left on the plate. Service = 5⁄5!!!: Our server made our whole experience. The food was obviously good as well, but I really enjoyed all the suggestions and attentiveness of the server. I’m not normally a big fan of large meat dinners, but would make an exception to go back to Libertine again.

Food alone, 5 for sure. This place came highly recommended by a few of my friends, so I decided to be a follower. I made reservations for 2 on their website, but when I got there they didn’t have it. It’s NYE. The hostess said not to worry they will seat us. I’m glad for that, although from where I was standing a third or more of the place was empty. We were seated next to the garage style window at a community table with another couple dinning next to us. I hate tables like this, my personal bubble feels invaded. However, the worst of it was there was a cold draft blowing in directly on us from the window. It’s 3 degrees and dropping below zero out there. I don’t want to dine on my last meal in 2014 with my winter coat and gloves on. Plus my food will get cold real fast. We asked our server if we can move to one of the ends away from the window since there were 3 or so empty tables. She said she’d ask, but didn’t think so because others have asked before and the hostess said no. Ummm? What? If you know you have a problem there already how about doing something about it, insulation? Some guy comes over and says he can’t move us, all the tables are booked, but he can turn the heat above us higher. Okay, so I’ll have heat blowing down on my head, and essentially an arctic blast blowing directly on my entire left side of my body? We’re just staring on each other as he asks if that’s okay. I’m not sure what to say. Luckily the couple next to us leans over and tells us they’re leaving. They were seated where we were first and had the same issue, so they told us to hang on as they pay. Thank goodness! By the way, an hour later, they still had empty spots we could have been moved too. Finally on to business. Getting a drink. I ordered the«Don’t fake the funk on a nasty monk.» This got rid of my initial irritation quickly. I forgot what’s in it, but it was good and came with a cinnamon stick. They have a good beer list too, with decent prices. Onto what to fill my belly up with. Bone marrow of course, every review on here recommends it, avocado with blue crab, lamb and brie lucy, and bacon chop. It was difficult to settle on these, there was a lot on the menu that I wanted to try. The bone marrow came with a bacon jam that we totally missed until we were finished! They hid it under the salt bowl. I was so sad. We saved the jam for the bacon chop though and it made up for it. The bone marrow is what everyone says it is. Yummy, yummy, in my tummy. When we finished we were offered whiskey shots on the house using the marrow as sliders. Hell yes we did it. I put that sweet bone up to my lips and let the brown juice warm my body. The avocado with blue crab was super refreshing. I’m not a fan of brie cheese, but I’ll eat that lamb and brie burger all day. It was buttery and juicy. The bacon chop was the highlight. The last time I ordered pork chops out was 7 years ago. This bacon chop made me see what I’ve been missing out on. My boyfriend mentioned that thing 3 times on the way home. I only had a small chunk. Homeboy polished off the while thing, fat and errythang. I’d be back to try more of the menu for sure. One of the better $ 100 meals I’ve had in 2014. Our server was great, all of them seemed really friendly. They were dressed casually though and that was confusing, you can’t really distinguish them from customers. The décor wasn’t my thing. Lots of gray, felt like I was in a cold cement box, but that could have been the issue with the draft too. Next time I’ll have to wait for warmer weather and go to the rooftop to dine.
