I go here just to have my eyebrows and I am constantly impressed by Jodi, who is an actual human angel /miracle worker.

This review will be short and to the point. Annie at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. Chris did an awesome job with my somewhat difficult hair. I am super happy.

Leah and Molly did my boyfriend and my mani/pedi’s. Friendly and professional and the BEST pedi we have ever experienced. Will definitely be returning!

This is my favorite salon in Minneapolis! The service is amazing, the staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is professional and fun. I’ve had my hair done, nails done and waxing services done and have never been disappointed. Whether you’re looking to try something new, or just keep up regular maintenance this is your place!

I love my hair. Leah did mine and Daniel did my friends. Both came out great and they were able to book us on short notice!

I had went in for a my wedding hair and makeup trial appointment. I came out of the salon looking like a disaster. My makeup was so heavy on my face that I was getting comments that I looked like an «Old Dead Lady», my hair fell out within 30 mins of leaving the salon with 38 bobby pins in my hair. This cost me $ 130.00 just for the trial and I understand that its a trial appointment but the results should have came out way better. I did ask for my money back and was only offered another trial appointment which I didn’t have time to come back for another 3 hours. My hair and makeup experience for my wedding day was totally ruined. I actually went to Blast Blow Dry Bar in uptown and it was FANTASTIC!!!

I originally came to this salon via Unilocal. And after being a customer at Jungle Red for several years, I had to break up with them due to wildly inconsistent quality of work. I got some great cuts there. Really great. I’ve also had at least three or four over the years where I had to either go back the next day to get it fixed, or, like with my most current cut, it will now be months before my hair is grown out enough to get back to a decent state. Oh, and did I mention I also got a staph infection(and now have a scar from it) after a skin service there earlier this year? Awesome. Frustrating, since two visits ago I got a great cut that got me lots of compliments. I went back to the same person, asked for the same thing, and she clips an irregular line about 1 ½″ higher on my head than before, taking off 3−4″ of hair in that spot. But she was really excited about the new clipper she had just bought! I went in with the Brad Pitt 1940s cut, and left looking like a troll doll. When I came back the next day for an ‘adjustment’, the homeless people that hang out in front of the SA next door pointed at me and laughed. I got laughed at by homeless people. And you know what, they were right. I’m not saying anything here that I didn’t share with Jungle Red at the end of my last ‘adjustment’ visit. They didn’t seem particularly concerned, or offer much in the way of a solution. Oh, well. You’d think they would be more troubled losing a loyal(despite their incompetence) customer and good tipper. But, I guess if you can’t deliver the goods, there’s no point in promising it will get better. I’m making sure to tell everyone who asks, «What the hell happened to your head?» that, in the words of the salon staff after my last cut, that this is ‘AWESOME/LOOKS GREAT/VERY HANDSOME’ work at Jungle Red. Or, as the stylist told me, «Hey, it’s okay. Your hair grows out really fast.» Really? sigh

I have been going to Jungle Red for almost 4 years now and I really love it! The first time I only went because of the convenience in location. But after that, even though I tried a few other places, I came back to Jungle Red. My go-to person is Leah. I love her work. She is super helpful and styles your hair just the way you ask for, but also does it in a way that suits you! She is great! Everyone there in general is very friendly and makes you feel very comfortable and welcome. The prices are also very reasonable with great service. They are very flexible with scheduling appointments, send reminders, and follow up. Annie is the one who has always helped me. I’d definitely recommend them!

I first discovered Jungle Red Salon here on Unilocal.I moved to Minneapolis from Michigan in July, and was in desperate need of a haircut! I initially selected them because they are(bonus!) on the same block as my apartment. The first person I dealt with here was Annie, who works the front desk. SUCH a sweet girl with a very bubbly personality. I was a walk-in, and they made time for me. I was immediately comfortable in the atmosphere, and Annie is quick to offer you coffee/tea/etc when you come in. Suzanne, the owner, did my haircut. She was so nice, and I loved my hair when she was all done.(She fixed up the not so great cut I previously had gotten elsewhere!) I was a little surprised when I went to check out because I didn’t realize she was the owner at the time, and that her prices are higher than what is listed on the website. That is my only complaint. It isn’t a huge deal to me because it was worth it, I just wish I had been told. I decided to come back for all over color. Christopher was my stylist. I showed him a picture of what I liked, and the finished product was pretty much dead-on. Leah ended up finishing me up, because he had another appointment. Again, I was very happy. I have gone back a few times for cuts and color, and Leah has become my go-to stylist. She does an awesome job! I would highly recommend her to anyone. The color I had put on just recently(kind of a red/violet), I wanted tweaked slightly. She did a perfect job of giving me exactly what I wanted. She explains the products that she is using, but I never feel like I’m being pressured to buy. The things that I have purchased per her suggestion, I have been very satisfied with. I like it there so much, I scheduled a spa pedicure for this weekend. A little pricier than what I am used to, but I have no doubt it will be worth it. Next up, I am thinking a massage! I deserve it. ;)

The good: Great funky atmosphere, love it’s in a converted garage. The receptionist was very attentive & so sweet. They have free parking(small lot) & good selection of hair products(though get ready to sell your first born for them.) Bad: Went in for Hair cut, highlights & brow wax. The girl who did my hair took 4 hours to highlight my hair, so they didn’t do the hair cut. The girl who did my hair had to do my brows(scheduled w/waxer, but my hair took forever & couldn’t see me). My brows were not bad, but left a lot of hair I had to pluck myself. Now my hair… TERRIBLE! In several spots there was more than an inch & half of roots left. She left the color on one side so long it fried one side badly. When I left it was dark, so it looked great. next day different story. I called several times asking to get it fixed, they kept telling me they’d call back. They did, but after playing phone tag a week, it was over they’re 5 or 7 day policy. Why not just book me?! Why did I have to talk to the stylist on the phone first? Point is… I’ll never go back. 4 hrs for highlights? My hair isn’t that long & others only take an hour for highlights. On top of the time, I looked like a child did it & not a top stylist. Again, fried so bad, had to get 2 inches chopped later to look decent. I went to 3 other salons after for consult & they all laughed at what she did & all said heard horror stories about this salon. No one would touch my hair cause it was so over bleached. After the above & being charged almost 300.00 for wax, highlights & shampoo, I avoid this place like the plague.

A couple months ago I was headed out to Vegas and was in desperate need of a tan **sign Minnesota weather. I have tried multiple mystic tanning and veraspa booths before but were disappointed with the uneven spray and how quickly it faded. I was recommended to go to Jody at Jungle Red and she was fantastic! My color was perfect for my skin, it was both even and natural and lasted my entire trip without fading, peeling or streaking(i even went swimming!) Jody made me feel comfortable and assured me she would mix me the perfect color! I have definitely been back and custom spray tans are the way to go!

I LOVE this place. Love love LOVE. Cannot recommend it enough. I started getting my hair done by Molly back in 2007 or so and immediately thought she was the bomb! But then I moved to San Diego in 2008 and had to get my hair done out there(unfortunately for me). The second I moved back to Mpls, I called Jungle Red to see if Molly was still there and thankfully, she is! I’ve had my hair cut, colored, and styled by Molly and have never been disappointed. She’s really easy to talk to(I really struggle with this with some stylists) and doesn’t try to push products on me. She lets me know which products she’s using, but that’s it. I’ve read other reviews that say they try to sell to you the whole time and I don’t think that’s the case at all. I’m so comfortable with her at this point, that sometimes I just give her a vague idea of what I’m interested in, but let her decide what she thinks will look good. And it’s always amazing. I get lots of compliments on my hair and if anyone is ever looking for a salon, I recommend Jungle Red and Molly to them. I think everyone that works there is super nice and it’s a great salon. Yes, the parking lot is a little tight, but dude. Just take your time and you will get out of there without any problems.

I’m torn. It’s hard to write reviews of hair spots. I’d rather just find one person and stick with them but it’s been a hard search here in the TC. Jungle Red is a bit tricky to get to if you don’t live downtown(which I don’t). They have a fantastic appointment reminder system and their front desk gal — Annie — is always cheery and super responsive. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Interesting décor. Definitely got a theme going on. Maybe they’ve been on Tabitha’s Salon Rescue(or whatever). My only complaint, and this is after visiting there three times, is that they tend to sell the ENTIRE time you are getting serviced. I mean, I understand that you have to sell product to get a commission but I really dislike constantly being sold to — right?

I’ve been going here to get my eyebrows waxed. Love the atmosphere and the results. Staff has been sweet and very helpful in coming up with ways to help me work with what I’ve got better. Never pushy, but eager to lend a hand. Pro tip regarding the parking lot: back in to the stall. One day I noticed other cars had backed in and thought I’d give it a go myself. Worked like a charm!

Jungle Red has everything you need and provides great services. Upon entering the hostess always offers a cup of coffee or hot tea for you to sip. The salicylic chemical peel is fantastic for acne prone skin! You’ll really notice a different after about 3 days. Ask for Jodie for skin care and massages! She is very knowledgable and really upbeat.

I’ve visited Jungle Red several times due to its convenient location in downtown Mpls. I’ve only ever had my hair done, not taken advantage of some of the other services(mani/pedi) that they offer. Each time my stylist has been competent, friendly, and helpful. I find that my hair can be finicky as the seasons change(air too humid, air too dry. .. too much of anything and my strands don’t want to cooperate). I’ve had several stylists at Jungle Red and they are always able to suggest a new length, layering, or product to help me manage my unruly tresses. Even with the suggestions, I’ve never felt pressured to buy any product I didn’t find to be helpful after my visits there. Prices are competitive with the downtown area, and it feels like a good value for the money when I’m as happy with my cut several weeks later as I was the day I walked out of the salon.

After the disappearance of my follicular co-conspirator, Emily, from Fox Den, I was on the hunt for someone, anyone, to give me a good perm. If you read my review of the Fox Den, you’ll know that she has given me awesome perms in the past, so I was a little worried about trying someone new, so soon before jetting off on vacation! A friend recommended Jungle Red, as he had gone there in the past, so I gave it a try. Some of you may remember that Jungle Red was featured on Tabitha’s Salon Take-over… and I’m glad I watched the episode after I went. In reality, the salon is pretty great, and watching the episode after made me think«Wow! They’ve done a great job improving!» The space is clean and modern, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The stylist working next to me was with a client who had been dissatisfied with her service, and the stylist did a really good job of making sure that her concerns were addressed and met. My stylist was Leah, a younger stylist who was noticeably quiet on the show. She was chill, and chatted with me just enough, but let me sit and read my magazine in peace. The perm was standard, and went well. When all the processing was done, and I finally got a look, I was more than pleased with the overall result. My short hair meant that the hair at my nape wasn’t long enough to hold curlers, so I am stuck with little straight bits in the back, but that’s no more Leah’s fault than mine. The perm has lasted pretty long, not as long as some perms I’ve had, but definitely longer than a lot of them. All in all Jungle Red is a great little salon, with nice employees. I didn’t feel it was really my style, nor did I feel terribly connected with my stylist, so I don’t think I would be going back. However, if you’re looking around for a hip, fun place to get your hair done, I would definitely recommend trying Jungle Red!

Bad experience with getting pinch braid extensions done here. I didn’t realize how poorly done the extensions were until i tried out another salon(i was new to extensions at the time – this was my second install) and realized that it is not normal for a bunch of extensions to fall out! I had 20+ braids fall out, the majority of those in the first two weeks, and after going to 2 stylists at another salon since then i have only lost 1 extension. In hindsight, i probably should have called them to see if they would reinstall all the lost ones… but I didn’t. I did bring my own hair(i didn’t buy it from the salon) and the services they provided me that day were: –removing my old ones –a color –installing new ones –a cut Base charge was $ 480, that is $ 210 more than my current stylist charges me for the same service. …except hers didn’t fall out. I didn’t like the lack of technique of the pinch braids and the higher prices. Here is what I did like: good job with my color, the employees were nice and personable, good atmosphere. I think they specialize more in track extensions, and so if you opt for the pinch braid route, this may not be the right salon.

Could it be that I can get my oil changed and I can get my eyebrows waxed??? No… but that’s okay, I can still get my eyebrows waxed and that my friends is FAR more important than changing the oil in my car. (Just kidding I promise… well sort of) When I meandered in here on my walk home I had heard such great things about it all I was looking for was to kind of peek in and see what they were all about. It was a really nice summer day so they had the garage door in the front of the salon open and when I walked in I was greeted by two GORGEOUS smiling women at the front desk. Turns out one of them was the owner and I had a really fun conversation with her. Well not that I needed too much prodding, there’s always something that can be done with my hair! I’m a redhead after all… so I took a seat in one of the stylists chair and told her my vision of what I would like but told her to be creative about it. What began as a quick trip in to see how expensive the services were turned into a haircut, a brow-wax, a partial foil, and a massage. I probably would have stayed for more if I didn’t have dinner plans that evening, but I ended up looking so good and being so relaxed that dinner was probably a better experience because of it! I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone that is looking for reasonable services with friendly and fun people!

If you’re a cute guy, do not read past this line… ************************************************** I tried Jungle Red today because I had a $ 15 gift certificate from the Cirque du CURE benefit(American Cancer Society) last November. More importantly though, I was prepping for a big meeting today and discovered(as I do every 3 – 4 weeks) that I had sprouted a mustache. I am nothing if not my father’s daughter… unfortunately that includes the upper lip. I stopped in, 911-style, and was like, «Aaaah! Please get this thing off of my face!» They came to my rescue and within 5 minutes, I was waxed, de-‘stached and happily out the door. The salon reminded me of someone’s garage, if that person was a really artsy hair stylist. Desiree was my esthetician — nice girl. She told me the staff was in the middle of a Simply Organic demo(hair products) when I stormed through the door looking like Tom Selleck. Her hair looked great, so I’d like to try those products… I have a few more coupons and gift cards to use here, and I’ll gladly be back to use them after my experience today! 3 – 4 weeks?
