Not professionally managed. Staff leaves something to be desired. Beer just not that good. Food even worse. There are better options in Uptown.

Fun easy going crowd. Nice laid back atmosphere. Good happy hour prices. 2−4-1s. My husband is a beer snob & said its good quality beer but just not his style. His go to beer is surly if that gives u something to compare him to. I can’t do rail drinks(& I don’t like beer) so I wasn’t able to participate in the 2−4-1s but I made a little joke to the bartender & he got me a drink on the house! Awesome service! My hubby didn’t really care for the homemade Queso on the nachos, I thought it was ok. A little thick maybe but the flavor was fine. We added chicken for an additional cost so the hh prices end up being a little more than hh… but whateves! I’d come back here to hang out, play a little shuffleboard & try another app! And actually… this place probably deserves 4 stars just for having a shuffleboard table!

Fresh and tasty beers with several Belgium specialties. Located in the fun Lynlake neighborhood, easy parking, fun servers, and knowledgeable bartenders make this place one that we shall return when in town again.

This is a nice bar with convenient parking that is old school and asks for a couple bucks in an envelope. They’re a Packers/Badgers bar apparently but you wouldn’t know it just by walking in. We waited a while for our server despite the bar being almost empty on a Sunday at 3 o’clock during football season. We ordered a flight and a Ryan Gosling which is a $ 10 martini with bleu cheese olives. We got the flight and a VERY boozy Old Fashioned. Our server never returned to see how things were or if we needed anything else or if we wanted food. Disappointing to say the least. Well, at least we can say we tried it

German house-made beers and food. The happy hour 2-fers and cheap appetizers special is great! We like to come mid-afternoon and wait out rush-hour traffic when we first come to town. Definitely a great place to hang out, either inside or on their outdoor patio.

I went here for drinks on a Friday night. Love their outdoor patio with bags(cornhole) and the lights. Definitely a great place to watch sport games especially Packer games! Prices were on the pricer side but it’s in the Lyndale and Lake area. I can’t say too much about their food but it’s nice place to have drinks. I will have to update this review once I had their food!

Pretty good session beers, great bar food, and my kinda atmosphere on the outdoor patio keep me coming back to this place a few times a month.

We stopped by Herkimer for beer and pretzels around 4:30pm on a Thursday. It’s a bit of a dive. The«black porter» we tried was pretty good, but a bit too sweet. The pretzels were okay, although they had clearly been reheated in the microwave. They were likely much better when they were fresh. We didn’t order any additional food, so I can’t speak to that. The service was excellent.

In the era before bearded men with reverse mullets and skinny jeans, there was the original brewpub in Mpls, Herkimer. Back then, their micro brewed beer was mediocre. Sadly, despite the ferocious competition, it still is.

Outdoor seating can be loud since it’s right on Lyndale with cars, pedestrians, and restaurant music blasting. Service is leisurely but not rude. You want to make sure to tell the bar you’re sitting outside otherwise you may not get service for awhile. Happy hour deals are pretty decent with fish tacos grilled not fried, which is great considering it’s just $ 5 for 2 tacos. The Cajun tator tots are like the potato oles at Taco John’s! So if you love those you’ll dig these fried discs. One can easily get in, get out, get full for $ 10 if you go for food(not drinks) during happy hour. Hard to beat that price point. That’s why I give it 4 stars for happy hour.

I love how understated the Herkimer is. It’s just your dimly lit, low energy, squat in a booth for hours sort if place. The food is good, the beer’s ok, there’s always a game I don’t care about on and sometimes that’s exactly what I want. None of the beers really thrill me, but they certainly aren’t bad. In general I prefer them to LynLake next door. Everything is house brewed, so no Lonely Blonde for you here unfortunately, although the full liquor license should make sure everyone is happy with something. As far as the house beer goes, it tends to lean towards darker options. I feel like even the pilsners are on the heavy side, which is more my style. The food is perfectly pub greasy. The BBQ burger, veggie sliders and even walleye benedict have all hit the spot(while I’ve been drinking, mind you). Perhaps my favorite thing about the Herk though is the cheese head wearing, beer guzzling Badger comrades. They don’t call it Lambeau on Lyndale for nothing people. If you want to find me anywhere on game day, I’m more likely to be here than any other spot in the twin cities.

Best bar, pub, people, service, everything! I love this place. It’s literally my Cheers. I feel like singing«where everybody knows my name»!!! Not just because I’m there a lot but because I feel they actually care and want to know my name! So many reasons to love this bar. They keep upping the ante too. Better beer and food each time. Plus coming from Wisconsin, it’s good to have a true packer bar! Not to mention they have a shuffleboard and bags league. Woo hoo! Go Herk!

There are so many great options in Uptown — and I respect that this is one of the first brew pubs and also created Moto-I…but they are lagging significantly. The beer is just not that good anymore. Craft beer has come a long way and bypassed Herkimer. The food was meh. We had the nachos and they were ordinary bar nachos. It was loud. There was a Packer pre-season game on tv and I couldn’t hear anyone at my table talking. I feel bad saying these things because of what Herkimer has done for Uptown over the years. I hope they will up their game and be around for a long time to come.

Let’s start by we sat outside for 10 minutes and no one came to check outside. We finally walked in to ask fro menus. There were others sitting outside… strange. I had the Herkimer burger. It was overcooked and the sauce was slopped on top. It has the makings of a good burger, it was just made crappy. When asked about what side we wanted the waited listed off about 5 items. I was happy to get the curds until the check came… Psst…let the customer there is an upcharge. The curds are very good, but not good enough to every go again to the place. I used to like going there, but with so many good places in the area why bother… disappointing.

One of my favorite more«divey» bars in the uptown area. Huge plus that it turns into a Packer bar during football season. Amazing cheese curds and nachos that come out on a baking tin. Love this place!

Tried to come here on a Friday night after the Wild game. Was with a goupe of people. Got to the door and bouncer guy let in 4 of the 5 of us in our group He didn’t have a good reason to not let the other in. I’ve never had problems here until the other night. Needless to say, I don’t think I will be returning. I think I’ll support the tap house across the street. Much better food and beer selection.

As if being the go-to Uptown brewery wasn’t enough, the Herkimer went above and beyond expectations serving this Guacamole Expert an off-the-menu order of chips and guac(guac is listed as an add on to their nachos and quesadillas plates, so I felt comfortable asking for the exception). Would I go so far as to say it was the best pub guacamole I’ve ever dipped into? A resounding yes. The Herkimer serves up a chunky guac with the standard fixings: red onion, jalapeño, tomato, fresh cilantro, lime, salt and even a hint of black pepper. Each were exquisitely proportioned to the dish and perfectly accentuated the quality of the avocados. I detected what I thought was a hint of oil to further highlight the flavor of the avocados. The guacamole was also served with the best chip-to-guac ratio I’ve seen. Well played, Herkimer, the only miss with this dish is that it isn’t featured on your menu.

After living in the neighborhood for almost 15 years, I find myself stopping in to the herkimer every couple of years just to see what’s new. In short, nothing. They continue to whelm, just not over or under. They can be counted on for loud, intoxicated patrons and food that will fill you; just not wow. I’ve made 3 trips in the last 3 months and it’ll be a couple more years before I get back again. But the great thing is I can count on them being around for the next visit.

Great Packer and Badger fan brew pub in Minneapolis. Plenty of TV’s, hip hop on the speakers for Blingo, decent food and great bloody Mary’s. Its loud, its shaking and if that’s not your style, you won’t like it. Great staff. This is a fun place where the whole is better than the parts. Definitely a place to have fun *edit*After thinking about Herkimer’s for a day, I realized how cheerful and friendly all the staff were. And this was why they were absolutely slammed for the Badger Bowl Game — and not only was all the staff great, the food came out well prepared also, as did the mixed drinks. This really is an achievement. Uniformly happy and great service.

I’ll second Annie’s motion, this is the place you end up. It’s time for Herkimer to deliver great beer. Hire a great brewmaster, please. Because the basics are totally in place. Awesome space, terrific location, shuffleboard, sweet patio, what’s missing? The beer. Herkimer should be a standout venue for the best suds in the Cities, it ain’t. Pick from the litter, guys. Amazing brews are popping up in states like Idaho and Iowa, there are all kinds of anxious brewmasters dying to have a shot at beer fame, hire one. You have the facilities, you have the fantastic staff, the Cities are wonton, go get it! My basic reading of our previous visit was the lackluster dimension of the pours. And that’s what this place is really all about, right? The food is fine, it soaks up the suds. The beer should be boss. It ain’t. Thus, this remains the place you end up, which is what happened to us, searching for a solid brewery in South Minneapolis.
