They screwed up my fries. How do you screw up fries? I had to wait for a table, which is fine it was packed in there that is understandable but a couple that came in after me got a table before I did. The server took a while to come to our table the first time so I had to wait for a while before anyone brought water or anything. When he finally did come he was really nice and had a really nice pen. The food we had was lackluster at best, for these prices I should of been wanting more but it left me just wanting my check by the time I finished eating. My not so hot«hot sandwich» and cold, dry, mushy fries left a bad taste in my mouth. Beer selection great if you’re in to that but happy hour isn’t very happy.

Highly disappointed. I so wanted to like this local establishment! First off, we had a reservation for a large group(30 people) for a late Sunday afternoon. They forgot our reservation! They tried to accommodate with giving us a few tables in a corner, but many in our group had to remain standing the entire time. I know 30 is a large group, but they assured us they could manage it when we made the reservation. One child, who has diary allergies, asked about the bread they use. The waiter said he’d investigate. When he returned with drinks, she asked again. He fumbled with his words. She asked«did you check?» Um, no. He then went on to tell her their bread comes from a bakery and they aren’t entirely sure about the ingredients. Really? Seems like restaurants should know this answer with all the allergies and special diets now days… even if it means they don’t accommodate special diets. She ordered a different meal. Another member of the party does not eat meat, and asked for nachos without the beef. It arrived covered in beef.(They eventually comped it). The most frustrating point for me was putting in our food order, and not receiving it for ANHOURAND A HALF. I kid you not. Our son was starving. He ordered a basic burger(juicy Lucy) & fries. Our waiter was very kind, each time we asked him when our food would arrive. Our son watched others in our party eat their food, and even receive boxes to put in their leftovers. 4 times our waiter told us he didn’t know what happened, and he’d check on it. The final time he came back and told us the next table over was just accidentally given our food. What?! He offered to give us a free dessert. We just asked to give us free food. He comped the 2 hamburgers and gave my husband a free beer. I asked my husband for half of it because I was never able to get the waiter to even ask me if I wanted a second beer, or even water. Yep, 1.5 hrs and no refills for me, or anyone at my table. If we weren’t socializing with friends, we would have left. One member of our party finally just cancelled his food order it was taking so long. The kicker, the food was only ok. Our son, who LOVES burgers, took one bite and said yuck. I gave this place one star for good beer. The waiter was kind, and apologetic… but at what point is the blame on the wait staff, the cook or the manager? We did speak to the manager upon leaving, sharing our disappointments. Too many mistakes to make me want to give this place a second chance. The atmosphere was not very cozy, forgotten reservation, uneducated about menu ingredients, negligent food delivery and«ok» food. Nope. No thank you. Someone else can take my seat… oh wait, I never got one.

I live in the neighborhood and couldn’t wait to check the place out. While really happy with our engaging, helpful server, Jamal, the atmosphere left something to be desired. It seemed like there was not a lot of thought put into the décor or ambiance, with beer posters on the walls, TV’S all over and that’s about it. It felt like it could be any suburban mid level restaurant. They built this place from the ground up and it felt a little lazy. My Lucy Picnic burger with was ok — and not very hot or cheesy, with flabby bacon. The meat was average in flavor. The tater tots I ordered with it were delicious with cheese, green onion and chilis inside. It is nice that they offer gluten free buns. For my money, the Brie and Bacon at Wise Acre is one of my favorites and the ingredients are sustainable and local. I will say, the host took my phone number when I put my name in for the wait list, but I was standing near the host stand, so didn’t check it, figuring she would come get me. It turned out I got a text telling me my table was ready, but didn’t see it and waited longer than I should have. Make sure to check your phone, if you end up waiting, and it would be great if the host mentioned that when your name is taken.

As soon as I walked in to this«new» restaurant it seemed really familiar to another place. Then I took a look at the menu and it is the exact same as The Crooked Pint in downtown Minneapolis! The only difference is the logo, seriously. It is clearly the same owners. In fact, it’s the same restaurant, just different branding. My opinion is that if there is nothing different, the name of the place should be the same. Seems sneaky otherwise. Always great beer. Skip the food.

Great service and an awesome local beer menu. Cozy environment. We were really excited about his place when we first arrived. However the disappointment kicked in when the food arrived. I am not sure what the french fries were made of but I have personally never had a spongy potato or fry. The Summit and Burger special was really bad. The Summit of course was good, but the burger was dry and looked like it came from a multi pack of pre-pressed burgers. Considering that they have a lot of burgers on the menu they need to get this corrected. The lobster grill cheese was nothing to write home about especially at $ 13.00. Hopefully they can get the food straighten out because the service was stellar.

First of all, service was great. I believe the guy’s name was Kevin. Beer selection very solid as well, went with my go-to Summit EPA. From there, it was just ok. I had their Juicy Lucy, and the meat was average at best. Granted, I’m accustomed to the many GREAT Lucy places in MPLS. Hard to compete, but gotta put forth a better effort. Fries were ok. My wife had the beef pot pie, was decent, but nothing to write home about. Was really hoping to like this place a lot, but the food is uninspired and takes no risks.

Tater tot hot dish is better than my Mama’s. Atmosphere and service is top notch. Beer selection is phenomenal and ice cold. The Chocolate Chip Lucy… unbelievable. Those dry rub wings… I will crave them at 3 am. The manager came over to talk to us and recommend dessert. Big Thumbs up on this neighborhood gem! I would highly recommend.

Skip it. I have tried Harriet’s 3 times now and will not be going back. You can see a trend with all of the reviews, and I honestly feel like people are being too MN nice. The only reason I give two stars is their beer selection. The food is bad and service is worse.

We went and dined for lunch here today. Let me first say that service is awesome and their tap list is bomb with four or five different rotators(most local). Tim was our server and you can tell the guy is a practiced hand. Very attentive and interactive. Had my favorite local Belgian(Harriet brewings Dark Abbey) and we ordered the giant pretzel. Tim gave us the heads up the thing is the size of a car, and we foolishly didn’t listen. The pretzel was good, but the sauces left a lot to be desired. The cheese sauce was super grainy and not smooth at all. For my meal, I went with the classic lucy. The beef was great, but had literally next to no cheese in the center. Guys, if you are trying to hang in the Minneapolis Lucy scene, you gotta bring a better game than that. There was more cheese on top of my burger(blasphemy btw) than inside. We are neighbors to the joint and hope it gets its food nailed down, because we will Def be back for the beers and to see our boy Tim!

Beer cheese burger and tots are so bad, but so good! This pub has been a great addition to our neighborhood.

We’ve visited Harriet’s twice now since they opened. The first time we went the restaurant had only been open one week. I definitely wrote off some of the things we encountered(lackluster service and average at best food) figuring they were just working out some of the kinks. After visiting again last week, it appears mediocrity is the norm here. Both times we’ve had appetizers forgotten and requests for items to be on the side/excluded not followed. Part of the problem definitely appears to be either understaffed or poorly trained waitstaff. We had to flag down our waiter almost anytime we wanted something(more beer, extra ketchup, etc). I think the biggest disappointment, as mentioned in other reviews, is just the plain«blah» food. We’ve tried Burgers, Sandwiches, Wings, Nachos… nothing that would appear to be all that challenging to make well? Our«Signature» dry rub wings didn’t have a ton of flavor, the burgers have always come out dry/overcooked and the Ale House Nachos were just odd(to be fair, the waitress did mention that we should ask for«light» lettuce because tons come on them). Kinda bummed as I was eagerly looking forward to something fun popping up in this location.

Unfortunately our assigned server wasn’t very prompt. We had another server come over twice to see if we wanted to order food. For appetizer we had the giant pretzel(which was huge!) and the tator tots. Cheese sauce for pretzel had a chunky consistency, but the mustard was tasty. Ordered the football special Juice Lucy and fries. For the price the burger was satisfactory with ample amount of fries. Our experience at the restaurant lasted about 2 hours most of the time it seemed to be a lack of attention from the server. Patio looks very nice and will be back to give it another shot.

Disappointed. I want to love spots around my neighborhood and I just didn’t. Décor: Agree, it looks like a standard suburban chain. The dining room feels empty(needs booths!), the décor is lacking(college dorm room), needs sound dampening(our server couldn’t hear our order and it wasn’t that busy). Unfortunate that there were big TVs in the dining room as well as the bar. The patio looks like it has potential. Service: Left a lot to be desired. Requested waters that didn’t arrive until after the food and were never refilled. Only half of the table was asked if they wanted another round of beer/wine. We had to ask two servers for silverware(as we sat with our food waiting), when we requested a split check we had to re-tell our entire orders because the server couldn’t remember what we had. Food: Meh. Jucy Lucy was okay. Fries were really bad. Clearly frozen and baked — lukewarm, unseasoned and exceptionally dry. Fish tacos were huge portions but a bit too saucy. Pot pie got good reviews. Definite room for improvement. Drink: Good beer list Most of these things seem like they could be tweaked to get better… I just don’t know how many times I’m willing to try.

*sigh* On the upside: wayyyy better than a boarded up gas station! Beer! On the downside: I agree with everyone else’s assessment — this is an Applebee’s in sheep’s clothing. Non-offensive corporate-y bulk food. Nothing stands out, nothing horrible nothing wonderful. We’ve only been twice but I’d recommend some of the lovely other local spots(Lowbrow, George & The Dragon, Prima…) before Harriet’s(if only the Blue Door would head our way!). Would be great if the retooled the quality of the menu but I think so-so is what they are going for and they will probably be successful. Again, if you are thinking about stopping in, check it out but lower your expectations if you’re used to a local, craft experience.

I ordered a Jucy Lucy and was disappointed. This is a major edit job to my original post but I was a bit harsh. Food still wasn’t good and i likely wont he back.

Very good beer selection and a large variety of items on the food menu. The seven different ‘Lucy’ burger options were fun to scope out and my Beer Cheese Lucy on a pretzel bun was great. I got a side of cottage cheese and we split my wife’s tater tots(she got the Classic Lucy and it was also tasty). However, these are not your everyday tater tots. A better description would be potato wrapped cheese curds with bacon. So chewy, so cheesy, so good, especially in ketchup. The décor is a bit spartan right now and it looks as though they are missing three or four tables by all the extra space in the second room, but for a place that had just opened, they are on the right track. Awesome to see a solid new family friendly restaurant in the neighborhood that is not pretending to be anything more than advertised. I hope Harriet Inn continues to grow and succeed and finds its niche in Southwest. We will definitely be back.

I have been excited for this place to open since it was first announced since it would be a block from my house. I am going to have to echo another reviewers thought on an Champs or Applebees style restaurant. I had the buff and blue burger. It was meh. There was barely any kick and the meat seemed under seasoned and well not the top quality the menu states it is. The atmosphere is generic and the place was surprisingly not busy. I know new restaurants are not always the best in the beginning but in this neighborhood there are many choices in walking distant. They are going to have to step up on their game in order to compete with what is already here. I hope they do and we get a great neighborhood place.

I’ve been so excited for this place to open! I live in the neighborhood and am delighted to have a local restaurant rather than a boarded-up SuperAmerica. There’s awesome potential here, but the place just doesn’t live up to it yet. The food is mediocre at best, the atmosphere bland and the prices overinflated for the quality you receive. I’ve been a couple times already; the burgers were average, the fries dry(like a cheap«make at home» bagged version), the tater tots interesting but forgettable, the pot pie flavorless. It’s more like an independent Applebee’s or Champs than a «gastro pub»; I was hoping for something more unique, «neighborhoody» and foodie-friendly like a Pat’s Tap, Lowbrow, Kings or Nighthawk. Even if it wants to be a sports bar(in Kingfield? Seems like an odd fit…), do it up right and make the eats super tasty like The Bulldog, Lyndale Tap, Herkimer, Ike’s — heck, even Lyles! This is more like a generic sports bar you’d find in the ‘burbs. I’m rooting for it to survive, thrive and find it’s niche, but it’s gunna take some rejiggering for it to compete with the other options around here and really resonate with the locals.

Applebee’s, T.G.I Friday’s, Chili’s, or is it Harriet’s Inn? I can never really remember. Tonight was a corporate experience; Harriet’s Inn belongs more on Lake & Hennepin. The unlimited TV distraction was a real shitty touch. Service and drinks were serviceable. I’ll go back when desperate during a blizzard, and needing lukewarm comfort. Late night happy hour will cost you $ 6 for a Bell’s Two Hearted tall boy and forced-friendly service. I’ll be returning in a month or two.

Harriet’s Inn opened last night, and I was there with a few friends who live in the neighborhood. The space is open and welcoming, which translates into open and loud as the diners pour in. Speaking of pours — very complete beer list, many local and seasonal offerings. Patio is apparently dog and cat friendly. Everything fell apart when it came to the food. Nachos arrived despite the fact we didn’t order them(server error) and were missing the meat and most of the cheese. Our table nicknamed them ‘nacho salad’ due to all the lettuce and guacamole. Dry rubbed wings were bland, and the sauce that accompanied them received mixed reviews. I had the ‘Picnic Lucy’ which advertised ketchup, mustard, and cheese in the center of the Jucy Lucy. I noticed what may have been ketchup, but there was no cheese in the center. Matt’s Bar, they are not. A friend who ordered the tater-tot hotdish noted that it was so spicy as to be almost inedible, with the jalapeño and poblano gravy hiding underneath habanero cheese. A few people dabbed a fork in the mixture and agreed. We were hoping for a lot more than what we received, particularly given the prices — apps, burgers, sandwiches all in the $ 12 range. None of the above should be surprising if you’ve had more than a snack at a Crooked Pint, as they are part of the same corporate entity.
