After living in the Carson Valley for over 27 years my wife and I decide to make our first visit to the Dangberg Ranch, and we walked away wondering what took so long. We were there to enjoy one of the speakers in their summer series, Christina Thomas, «Songbird: The Story of the Paiute People» and she was great as she shared the history of the Paiute people in the Great Basin. The Dangberg Ranch is located on HWY88 just south of its intersection with HWY395, and you’ll head west onto a dirt road for about a mile to get to the ranch, and the road is a bit rough, and on the day we went, muddy from recent rain. Was it worth it? Absolutely, here’s the web-site, and I’d encourage you to add this to your tour of the Carson Valley: As a side note, the view of the Sierra Nevada from this location are incredible.

It’s not easy to find as the road isn’t well marked. It’s a hidden gem! Lots of fabulous artifacts, tons of Nevada history in a fabulous setting.

My Husband and I were the first wedding to be done at the Dangberg Home Ranch and I have to say this venue is FANTASTIC! The view is unbelievable and the price is extremely reasonable. This is a beautiful working ranch that offers some great possibilities as a wedding venue, or any event venue. There is an enormous space to work with. Our wedding of 240 didn’t even take up a 5th of the area. Mark is easy to work with and very accommodating. I highly recommend the Dangberg if you’re looking for a beautiful outdoor venue for your event! We brought in tents and umbrellas for shade, as the trees create a great amount of shade, but we wanted to make sure that none of our guests roasted. We also brought in a lighting package to light up the night. It turned out beautifully! The only issues that we ran into– There are time restrictions– we didn’t know about until after we printed our invitations– we had to be off the property by 10 pm(so if you’re looking for a late night event, this may not be the place for you) There is limited power– there are power boxes in the field area, so it’s not access to power that is a potential power. This is a historic site, so there may not be enough power from the ranch’s supply. We were concerned about power, so we brought in a generator as a back up, however we ended up not needing it. (If your event has a lot of power needs, you may have to bring in a generator.) For what you get, the price on this venue is totally worth it!!!
