Sunday road trip. Better fill up with gas before we leave civilization. $ 1.94 for gas? I can’t even remember the last time I saw gas under $ 2.00! SOLD.

My kids love it here … They love the slushy machine with so many choices — I love that their favorite if the caffine free Cherry Lime ;) … I was concerned with this small town getting yet another gas station — but they seem to be holding their own and offer many features and goodies that none of the other stations in town offer. They used to be the cheapest gas in town — now the prices are the same — but yes there is no service fee for using my Debit card … I mean really — who carries only cash anymore. I always go to Maverick!

Cheap gas conveniently located since I was coming from Cali to Minden and ran out of gas. Haha my bad. I would probably get gas here again if I’m in the area.

Hit and miss. Sometimes there’s only one cashier and there are long lines, no coffee, etc. Other times it’s great, seems to depend on the day and time you’re in the store.

Yesterday was the grand opening of this gas station, and it’s hard to believe that they are here. I kept asking myself, «How will a small little town like MInden support another gas station?» But the answer appears to be simple.
First, as you travel into Nevada on HWY 88 it will be the first gas station that you come to, and it’s on the East side of the road, easily accessible to northbound traffic.
Second, it’s right across the street from the high school, and so there is a ready made crowd of 1,200 plus students ready to take advantage of all that the gas station has to offer, and boy do they have some offers.
Third, it’s not just a gas station. Do you need a milkshake? Do you need some food? Would you like to get some adult beverages? Do you want to use a slot machine? They’ve got all your tempting vices right there in one building, and they seem prepared to fend of the challenges of the location being so close to the high school. It is important to note that I have not tried any of the above items. I don’t know if the food is good, how much the adult beverages cost in comparison to other stores, and I don’t gamble, so I can’t comment on any of this.
Fourth, and this is the most important to me, they were five cents a gallon cheaper than the previously most affordable gas station in town, and you don’t have to add on a service charge to buy the gas. So I saved about $ 1.15 over what the same purchase would have been just around the corner. Beyond that they’ve got six or eight (not sure) different islands to serve the gas at, and each serves one car on each side.
Fifth, it’s new. Nothing has been broken, there’s no oil stains on the black top. Maverik has a plan for building these places and
So, competition lives in MInden. It’s not just an AM/​PM town anymore. You’ve got some real reasons to consider this place, but my star rating is simply related to the price of the gas. After a few weeks I’ll venture in and assess the quality of the other issues that matter, but it’s important to let new businesses work out the kinks a bit.
