The food is fantastic and the service was very attentive. I had the red curry and I can’t wait to try something else. My husband a couple pieces of sushi as an appetizers, and had the duck special and he said both were excellent. My friend had the pad Thai and although she had wanted to save some to take home, she couldn’t resist eating the entire order. In fact, all of us completely finished our food. This doesn’t mean the portions are small. They’re decent sized and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place. It’s very small though, so it may be best to try it when the weather is nice, since they have some outdoor seating. I haven’t tried delivery or carryout.

The«bistro» is cozy and modern. They also seemed to do a lot of takeout. Food was great! We had shared the spicy edamame and then two sushi rolls each. Service was prompt and friendly.

This is the perfect place to go to get a mixture of Thai and sushi. My boyfriend loves sushi and I love Thai so we come here frequently. The sushi is fresh and delicious. It’s half off on Mondays and Tuesdays until 530! The green curry is very flavorful and full of veggies — I highly recommend it. If you like them on Facebook you can get a free edamame.

I placed an order the other night through grubhub and had a delivery time of 745pm, it was about 630 at that point. Not a big deal, I was anticipating a wait. I got a text notification a few minutes later that my meal was being prepared and again confirming that same delivery window. I went back to doing laundry, and oddly enough about 15 minutes later, food was here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad they were early, but almost an hour earlier than anticipated is sort of frustrating, I had other things going at that point. Anyhow, the food, I got the carribean fried rice, was amazing and I ate entirely more than I needed to because the flavors were so delicious. It had cashews, raisins, and pineapple. My only complaint was I wish it had some spice to it. All in all great and I know I’ll be ordering again, I just really hope the delivery window can be accurate to maybe 20 minutes instead of an hour.

I continue to be impressed with this place. Tonight I ordered an eggplant and broccoli vegetarian dish with peanut sauce. Service was efficient and the food was hot, fresh and delicious. Beautiful presentation once again.

Based on another Unilocaler akshaykeerthi’s positive comment about the rice and roll fried rice, I decided to forgo my favourite dish, the khaosoy and try the fried rice. He’s right. It is uniquely delicious. It comes in a crispy potato bowl, like birds nest made of delicious deep fried potato noodles. Sinful for your diet but delicious. The fried rice has complex spices. Lots of chicken. Chicken tasted fresh made and not precooked. If you like spicy hot food, ask for the dry red pepper but use it sparingly. The red pepper powder was quite potent. Service was friendly and quick.

If you are wondering if you should eat here, yes. If you are wondering why you have not ate here, yes. I can’t pick a favorite sushi place in Milwaukee, but this is among my favorite sushi places in Milwaukee. New as of February 2015! An awesome place to do a double date or catch up with a friend. It might be awkward for a first date, if you don’t mind getting cozy and close to the table next to you. Watching the Itamae prepare your sushi is a delight. The restaurant has a 10 table seating chart with about 10 places at the sushi bar. Pick-Up and Delivery are also offered– great for big groups. Dinner menu preferred over lunch menu! Their Tom Kha soup is hit or miss for me, but that is the only thing I have felt a bit off about their menu. The Pad Thai is a crowd favorite. All the Curry is spot on. My favorite Noodle entrée is the Tempura Udon(Thick Udon noodles, seaweed, scallion, fish cake, shrimp/onion/string bean tempura). Skip straight to the Signature Rolls if you are hungry for sushi. «The Packer’s» Signature Roll is my favorite paired with some yummy single Sashimi(raw fish) or Nigiri(raw fish with rice). Reasonably priced Thai cuisine! Price menu is around $ 6-$ 20.

To be clear– I haven’t actually been into this restaurant yet, but instead ordered delivery from here the other night. I ordered the curry dip and one of their specialty sushi rolls. Service was prompt and the delivery guy was pleasant. Also felt that this place was very fairly priced. Felt the curry dip was very tasty but could’ve been a little thicker. Sushi was pretty good but they didn’t include any wasabi or ginger with my order so that was kind of a let down. So all in all, it was good but I wasn’t blown away. Still would like to go here for dinner sometime as I’ve heard very good things so far.

I want to give this place 5 stars but I’m a sushi whore, much like being a pizza freak, so it gets 4.5. This though is truly some of the best sushi I’ve had since moving to MKE. The place is small and gets packed in but even if you have to wait, well it’s worth it. Why you ask, it’s all about the sushi. They have a plethora of creations available for your pleasure. One of my favorites was the Crunchy California maki — Deep fried california maki, unagi sauce, spicy mayo, and wasabi mayo. Rice n Roll hey turned the simplest roll into a masterpiece. This was one of many rolls but was a true standout. They also have beer, wine and Sake! They’ve got all the basics and then some covered. Between the location and the solid service you really can’t go wrong.

What happened here. I was excited to come back after being away from Milwaukee for some time, but boy was I disappointed. Rice & Roll was doing so so well just a couple of months ago but everything has become worse this time round. There has definitely been a noticeable drop in quality. I always get my usual Sexy Summer and Alaska roll but when the server brought them to my table today, I was shocked at how the size of the rolls had shrunk tremendously. The spicy salmon was also prepared poorly as the spicy-ness was way too overwhelming. I didn’t finish either rolls. My last 5 visits, I finished my order in 10 minutes. Sorry Rice & Roll, you just lost a very loyal customer.

God I hate to be such a Debbie-Downer on this one, especially since it seems to be a favorite by many people in MKE. However, for my fiancé and I, it did not live up to the hype. We came in for our 5 year anniversary. My first impression was that it was small and full of hipsters. I felt the size and type of furniture wouldn’t bode well for a comfortable evening and this ended up being true. I couldn’t wait to leave actually. My review of the food is strictly based upon the sushi because that’s the only thing we came for. These rolls are definitely more unique, but more saucy than any place I’ve ever been to. The Raising Sun?! Holy sauce on that guy. If you appreciate the taste of actual fish, I’d avoid this roll all together. We got about 5 rolls, two hand rolls and three types of sashimi. We asked for it in one of those awesome monster boats for the special occasion and they didn’t disappoint. Our sushi came out and it looked beautiful. I can’t for the life of me remember the name of every roll. The only thing that I enjoyed and was truly memorable, was the rainbow roll. This didn’t come with any sauce or embellishments. Eel is by far my favorite type of fish in/on rolls, but when they made our eel and avo hand rolls, the seaweed was chewy instead of crispy, so they must have made them first. Flavor was still there but I prefer my seaweed on my hand roll to be crunchier. The fish didn’t taste fresh for us, especially the sashimi. The sauces covered up the taste, aside from the eel, in all of our other rolls. This goes for the sashimi as well. It just wasn’t up to par. The size of our yellowtail sashimi at $ 3.00 was a joke. The tuna had a grainy type of texture and didn’t taste like the fresh tuna we had while on Maui. We ended the night with a complimentary cheesecake, which was nice. It tasted good too! And they attempted to write happy 5th anniversary, so my hats off to that. We won’t be back.

This place has great reviews on Unilocal so I was pretty excited to finally try it. We placed an order online last night for take-out, their website was fairly easy to use. My only complaint was that they didn’t have the veggie tempura listed(only shrimp or another one) but it is listed on their pdf menu. Oh well, it might have been cold by the time I got it home anyway. Our food was ready within the 20 minute window as promised. We were all pretty hungry so I was ready to dive right in once I got home. I was sad to see that we didn’t receive our free edamame which was the online promo if you spent $ 15 or more. It was listed on the receipt and the confirmation order so that was pretty disappointing since it was going to be part of an 8 year old’s meal. I didn’t bother to call them because I wasn’t going to run out in the sleet again for free edamame. My advise would be to confirm that they have your free item if you take advantage of the online promos. I got the Garlic Pepper Tofu with jasmine rice and it was okay. The issue I have with tofu is that every place cooks it differently. Their tofu was very soft and basically appeared to be quickly seared, not my style. Next time I would skip the tofu. It would be nice if they added broccoli to the dish as well. My bf had the Spicy Crab Maki and thought it was pretty bad. He used to work at a very popular MKE sushi place and said theirs way way better. In his opinion, the crab roll should have had crab and not imitation crab(the menu says crab meat) as shown in the photo. It should also have been more crab than rice/tempura flakes. He said he wouldn’t go there for sushi again. Maybe it was just a bad day or a new chef? The little one had a plain tuna maki roll and enjoyed it. We also got an order of the egg rolls which I liked but not the greatest I’ve ever had. It might be safe to say I like Chung’s frozen ones better. I would try some other items on their menu like the curries or even some of the rolls during«happy hour». I just felt that for $ 30.00, 2 out of 3 of us weren’t super thrilled with our food. I will try it again sometime and revise my review if anything changes.

Came here for my birthday lunch and really liked the chill ambience. The décor gave off a very zen vibe, which made me feel welcomed. The food was bomb, and priced pretty fairly as well! The salmon and eel tasted very fresh, and went well with the avocado. I was hoping they would serve my sushi on a wooden board, but alas my instagram would have to wait until next time. Additionally, if you check in on Unilocal you get a free bowl of edamame! It’s a huge bowl! If you’re feeling adventurous, try their matcha crème brûlée! It was kinda sweet, but it offered a new dimension to matcha desserts! Overall, this place is a must try! I will be back for their ½ off sushi and hopefully I’ll get it served on a wooden board.

Talk about some seriously beautiful sushi rolls. The boyfriend and I chose this place after a failed attempt at dining at Osaka up on North Ave. Rice N Roll Bistro did not disappoint. Rice N Roll Bistro is located across the street from Koppa’s Fulbeli Deli on Farwell Ave. Their menu is a bit eclectic, and all over the place. It’s Japanese… but also Thai? We kind of left the Thai-side alone for this visit settling on 3 sushi rolls and a bowl of the tempura udon. The noodles themselves were cooked well(not overly mushy) but I thought the soup left much to be desired. It was overly sweet, and did not really taste like udon, in my opinion. Despite being not-so traditional, the boyfriend did enjoy the noodle soup, but said the fish cake and carrots were a bit lackluster. We ordered three sushi rolls to share – Caterpillar roll — Avocado over an inside-out unagi(eel) roll with cucumbers and cream cheese Alaska roll — Salmon and Avocado Sexy Summer roll — Salmon and avocado over an inside-out spicy tuna roll with mango I was a bit weary about the caterpillar roll. I had never seen it with cream cheese, and almost opted to have it take out. I’m glad I didn’t! While generally not a fan of the Philly roll, I really liked the creaminess(for a lack of better words) that the cream cheese added. It paired well with the eel and refreshing taste of the cucumbers. This was probably my favorite of the three. The Alaska roll is your tried and true raw fish with avocado. The roll was good, but I thought that they looked a bit wimpy. The Sexy Summer roll was essentially a fancy spicy tuna roll. I think if mangos were in season, this would have been my favorite roll. Unfortunately, the mango was sour and a bit firm, like they had not completely ripened. As I’ve already mentioned, the presentation is beautiful. The rolls(and board) are lightly dusted with black sesame seeds. I do wish that they rolls came out one at a time as they were made. That is only because Dustin T. had finished his entire bowl of udon before I was ever able to touch a single roll. This could also be remedied by bringing out the sushi before the hot entrees. One thing I really liked was that not all the rolls were smothered in some sort of Sriracha mayo, fried with tempura batter, or a combination of the two over a California roll. Looking at the menu, the rolls are pretty inventive. Overall, a much better sushi option than Fushimi down the street… or so I’ve heard.

Great little sushi spot, so happy I finally stopped in! Rice N Roll has a large selection of sushi that covers all of the classics, simple rolls and a nice variety of extravagant rolls. I would highly recommend the Farwell, it has unagi, tempura and a killer spicy sauce drizzled over the top, we liked it so much after we tried it that we ordered a second! While I didn’t try any they had a good selection of Thai dishes that sounded delicious as well. I’ve been on the lookout for a new place in my neighborhood for sushi and Rice N Roll is it! Yum! I would highly recommend it if you are in the area looking for sushi & Thai food.

my MKE food buddy and I were eager to try the newest spot on the block, given the rave reviews on Unilocal and OnMilwaukee. we arrived just shortly after happy hour ended. because the place was packed, we were seated at the sushi bar, to avoid waiting otherwise. for appetizers, we ordered the crab rangoons and the fried calamari. for both of these dishes, the efforts were spent on presentation. the taste of both dishes were subpar. the crab rangoons truly were bland. the addition of celery was unnecessary. I prefer the crab rangoons from my neighborhood chinese take-out spot. as my friend best put it, the fried calamari was akin to grade school soggy chicken nuggets. the calamari was not only lacking the appropriate texture, the flavor of the batter was non-existent. the batter«spices» included salt and black pepper. the sushi was decent for MKE. I enjoyed the shrimp tempura. the addition of avocados and asparagus added great texture. Overall, this spot did not live up to the hype. I did enjoy sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs. I am willing to come back but only for happy hour.

It’s dangerous that I live so close to this place. Tasty sushi at reasonable prices. Good curry at reasonable prices. The only thing unreasonable about this place is how good it was and how close it is to me. STOPIT R&R. You’re making me love you.

Rice and roll is a delicious addition to Farewell. We started off with the rice and roll dumplings and the red boy roll. The dumplings were perfect size and not heavy. The roll was hard to eat as it is a bigger roll and the rice was not very sticky so the roll kept falling apart as I fumbled quickly to get into my mouth. For entrees we ordered the spicy basil with beef and the two nations noodles. The spicy basil was not very spicy, but the string beans were crisp and the dish was flavorful. The two nations noodles were a bit spicier and had great texture. Portions were perfect for sharing and I liked the fact they were not super huge size. Some people would probably be upset over this but I prefer the smaller portions. This is a tiny space and you are practically sitting on top of the table next to you and can hear everything your neighbor is saying. This seems pretty typical for restaurants lately, maximizing space. There was a stream of people coming and going getting carry out.

Going to DEFCONFIVE on Rice N Roll. The sushi is fresh, the rolls are inventive and balanced — some are super accessible for sushi newbs(read: deep-fried to hell + back) and some more«challenging» or «fish forward»(so you’ve got options!), but all are well-done. The menu beyond maki is extensive, the service is kind, the price points are reasonable and the sushi bar is where it’s at, Pat.(Get thee there, stat.) Last go around we ordered the Double tap, the Red Boy + a basic Philly roll. All were excellent, would order again. Rice n Roll and KOI are quickly becoming my MKE sushi go-tos. Great work, RnR!
