This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city. You get huge quantities for a fair price. I always get the Happy Family(shrimp, beef, chicken and scallops). The scallops are always cooked perfectly! I have nothing bad to say about Emporer of China.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and I must say you get MUCH more food when eating at the restaurant. The shrimp lo mein and broccoli chicken are great. Don’t order the garlic chicken it’s pretty disgusting. Very salty. Lunch specials are also awesome.

Salty. Salty. Salty. Can you speak Chinese to me? I’m having a hard time with your engrish. All jokes aside, no, everything is just too salty. Service is salty, food and soup, salty. Won’t see me twice. Enjoy your salty lunch. Almost gave them a 2 star but nope, brought the check before I finished my lunch. They done it now. They got the 1star treatment.

I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years. It’s always been consistent with good service and food. Atmosphere is what I call Chinese kitsch. Cute and quaint this restaurant remains popular and under consistent ownership. It has a take out option as well. I’ve not had a bad meal here. The hot and sour soup is very good. Don’t expect authentic Chinese food but if you’d want a good version of Chinese-American then this is a very solid option.

Sizable quantities, high quality, very attentive service and reasonable prices for this level of quality. I’ve been going there for many years. Never a bad meal.

Best Chinese takeout I’ve ever had, and I’m a 2x-a-week kind of guy! Chicken is high quality, delivery is quick, and price is reasonable for the quality.

Located on Brady Street, this place is an East side Milwaukee gem. I got to check them out on Christmas Day, when I met a friend here for dinner. The service here is excellent. We were warmly greeted by the staff, and were treated very well during our visit. Due to the holiday, they had a special menu with a smaller selection of options. But what they offered was very good. The portion sizes are large and filling. We started out with an appetizer of crab rangoon. There were 7 pieces that came on the plate, and they were big! And they were filled to the max with crab and cream cheese. Mmmm. For my meal, I had the shrimp with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was very flavorful, and the shrimp were huge! The only thing I would change about the dish are the amount of veggies. Not being a fan of vegetables, I would make it with less of them. However, I would still order this dish again. My friend had the chicken fried rice, and was kind enough to let me sample some. The pieces of chicken were large, and the rice was fried just right. I definitely want to come back here and check out their full menu.

Best take out!!! You have not lived until you try the sesame beef and shrimp fried rice. Crab rangoon is yuuuuumy. Also I highly recommend the take out boxes for the kids.

Over the years, this place has been our«go to» spot for Chinese take out. I wouldn’t argue with those noting it might not be as consistently good as years ago, and/or the portions not as generous, but it’s fine; I’m not particularly fussy. Besides it’s hard to compare when you order lots of different things on subsequent visits. Maybe the Emperor is resting on his laurels? That said, recently I noticed something seemed different — pricing. I had phoned in my takeout selections from the on line menu. When I picked up, the bill was several dollars higher than expected. Later, I looked at the«old menu»(on line) and compared it to the«new menu»(printed and given to me from the front desk). Of 113 items on the old menu(online, that is) the prices of 32 of them have been increased. Five of those were up only 20 to 50 cents, BUT, thirteen were up by about a dollar, eleven by two dollars, and three were up three dollars each(from $ 10.95 to $ 13.95). I didn’t make a scene or anything, but I think it’s wrong to have an outdated on line menu with lower prices. We’ll probably try some new Chinese place(s) in the future in hopes it might be just as good or better, and maybe more reasonably priced as well.

Yummy. Best sweet and sour chicken I’ve ever had. Best service. And the fortune cookies — I do believe they are chocolate. I could’ve stayed and eaten all night. Literally… there was so much deliciousness on my giant plate. I’m coming back again.

On two previous occasions, Emperor of China was just okay, but on our third visit, it was horrible. So, I’m splitting the difference with stars. Unless you’re a fan of consuming heaping spoon-fulls of salt, do NOT order the Westlake fish entrée ~ worst I have ever had. No taste at all except for salt. The steak satay appetizer was very overdone and too chewy. The rest of our selections — curry chicken and a tofu and vegetables dish — were as bland as so-called Chinese food from a grocery freezer section. Given that all our selections had issues, perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen, but have to say we aren’t likely to return.

Ate here for the first time with my family of four, and all I can say is WOW! Best quality Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Large, family style portions(think Chinese version of Maggiano’s), authentic, pleasant atmosphere, very nice and attentive server. With only 3 entrees, we had enough leftovers for dinner the following night! Chocolate fortune cookies were a nice touch. Strongly recommend the crispy sesame beef and crab rangoons… delish!

When I went, there were only a few others in the establishment. Food was decent and the atmosphere was quiet with no music. I didnt find it extremely special but certainly nothing wrong with it.

I had the pleasure of stopping by here this weekend on Sunday. It was just about 2 o’clock so their menu was switching from lunch to dinner but our server was kind enough to let us order for lunch. Unlike many Chinese restaurants in Milwaukee, this place is mainly sit down. I imagine if you order delivery you will not get the same experience… The décor is beautiful with many traditional pieces of art, as well as a vibrant dragon flying across the dining room. The lighting was a little dim, so it was hard to read the menu but I imagine it’s a lot easier to read when it’s darker outside. Our server was very fast and down to business. We had our drinks(aside from water) within the first three minutes and had our orders put in within the first seven minutes of sitting down. I ordered the shrimp egg foo young lunch special which came with egg drop soup, crag ragoon and fried rice, as well as two large egg foo young patties. This portion was definitely enough to feed two(sort of) hungry people, so I took half to go. It was delicious and had the perfect amount of gravy for the rice and patties. The flavor was exactly what I expected, if not better and the portions were generous, making this gem of a place definitely bang for your buck! I’ll be back!

My friend and I came here after a failed dining experience elsewhere. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, and you get a lot of food for the money. My only complaint: I ordered curry chicken, and instead got curry beef. No big deal. We ate like emperors here, and left super full, and ready for a nap. Solid spot.

Came here for my friend’s birthday and had a lovely time. The atmosphere is elegant and spacious. I sneaked away to tell the owner it was my friend’s birthday and he said he would take care of it. The waitress was energetic and entertaining with her enthusiasm and lack of English, but she did make us feel a little rushed. I did like how she was no-nonsense. The dumplings for appetizers were large but not very flavorful. The entrees we got included egg foo young and Happy Family. Both were lacking in flavor and possessed some strange added flavors, but the food was brought out quickly and the portions were generous. We also had pork fried rice, which was quite delicious, but it’s hard to mess that up. For drinks, they recommended their Mai Tais, so that’s what we got, and they were large, strong, and delicious! They surprised us with a bowl of ice cream with cherries and a birthday candle for my friend and the waitress even started singing Happy birthday. The staff was very sweet and the service was fast and friendly so I would give this place a high rating, despite the less than impressive food.

Absolutely delicious! Clean, friendly, reasonably priced, spacious and you can be as casual or as classy as you want here. Came here on a first date dinner. Perfect place to bring your date or a group as there is plenty of space for all! White table cloths make the place fancy and the paper coverings make you feel ok about spilling won ton soup, sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce all over. Yes, I’m a messy eater, #SorryImNotSorry! I ordered the chicken with snap peas which came with a bowl of white rice, won ton soup, an egg roll, a crab ragoon piece and some other delicious square of yumminess as well as the original entrée of chicken and snow peas! Just my dinner was enough for two but this little piggy ate it all herself. My date had the spicy shrimp and vegetables and also had a bowl of white rice. Then, we were served two perfectly sized mini ice cream cups and a chocolate fortune cookie! I promise I had little hearts floating around me by the time I was done eating all this food. I would write an even longer raving review but I am quickly going into a food coma. …
