The ceaser salad was edible. The macaroni and cheese was good. Not sure I’d go back.

Our experience was terrible. If I could I would give 0 stars. We made a reservation for 13(4 of them kids). We ordered Mac and Cheese right away for the kids so they can start eating sooner and individual flatbreads for everyone else soon after. First of all, the waiter came and told us that they were out of Mac and cheese 25 minutes after! Really? That’s how long it takes you to figure out? And by the way, there were no apologies. Second, everyone’s flatbread order came in except for my boyfriend’s. He ordered a MadRiver with alteration of added pepperoni. They said it is in the oven and will come out shortly but we were suspicious because there was a plain pepperoni flatbread on the table that no one ordered. We were pretty sure they simply screwed up. But they assured us the flatbread is on its way to come out soon! Sure enough, his food came after 30 minutes! Again, no apologies of any kind. Third, no one liked their flatbread except me and one more person. I ordered The Q which pretty good and my sister ordered a gluten free one that she liked. Everyone else said they wouldn’t eat here again and that they wished they had ordered what I had. Lastly, and this is tragic actually, while we were getting ready to leave the waiter told us that it was their last night of business and that things are a bit chaotic. Really? You couldn’t have told us when we came to make our reservation? Or when you were 25 minutes late to tell us you are out of certain things? No wonder this business is closing.

Love this joint. Deliciously crisp and lovely flatbread pizzas fired up in a wood oven. Great light. Chill atmosphere. A little pricey but it ain’t Dominoes and it’s indie so glad to help keep the locals living. We always leave wanting more.

Such a cute, cozy restaurant with delicious, local, organic food! Loved this place and the vibe. I’m a tough critic when it comes to flat bread pizza. But this place had it going on. Great seasonal toppings. Everything so fresh pants and locally sourced. The wine list is great as well and the server was super generous to let us taste a few before deciding. We went for the beet salad to start and the flat bread with the works on it — tons of veggies and fennel pork sausage that was incredible. We chose the spelt cornmeal crust which is totally the way to go. The dessert menu looked good too, but we couldn’t pass up visiting the organic gelato shop down the street. Maybe next time, because I’ll for sure be back to this little sweet spot.

pizza is thin crust and delicious. They have regular, wheat free, and gluten free options. They always have locally sourced vegetables prepared in a tasteful way. Wine and chocolate desert are yummy too!

What a difference 3 years makes. For 3 years I’ve walked around remembering my great meal here: Über-tasty, fresh salads and flatbread pizzas with unusual, sometimes exotic natural ingredients(nettles anyone?) that sang. But something’s happened since then and it’s not something great. On this recent visit Small Shed seemed a bit tired and unkempt. The interior may not have been unclean but it left that impression, with empty wooden tables not wiped down and an initial scent that didn’t scream fresh. The food left the same impression: muddled flavors, not grand, and nothing really stood out. From Spicy Kale Salad($ 9.50) to Wood-Fired Mussels($ 15) to 3 separate flatbread pizzas, the flavors just swam together. The kale salad was somewhat bitter and under-dressed. The mussels took a long time to come and the reward wasn’t worth the wait. And the flatbreads, though we wolfed them down, didn’t inspire the joy they had on my visit 3 years ago. Hours later, nothing we’d had was either memorable or remarkable; a perfectly fine but forgettable meal. If you’re hankering for truly delicious flatbreads and salads, hit up Pizzeria Picco(Larkspur). They’re still performing magic over there.

Wow, I put together a gluten free pizza and I had yummy meatballs on the side and the freshest salad ever and I shared with a friend. Loved it! great little spot. Can’t wait to take my hubby there, he would dig it. I loved the meatballs. OMG!

We were in Mill Valley for the day over Labor Day and really enjoyed walking around the city. We passed by Small Shed and it smelled really good and had gotten good reviews so we decided to check it out after our walk was complete. We started off with the chopped salad and it was plenty for two people and was good. We also had one of the special flatbreads which was cooked perfectly and the peccorino cheese on it made it that much better.

Came here after hiking all the way up and down Mt Tam from Mill Valley, which is a little extreme just because you have to walk along roads for quite some time to get to the trailhead. A very warm and cozy atmosphere greets you here in this small restaurant. Better to come earlier to avoid the wait. There are a few outdoor tables as well; ideal for cyclists. Beet salad: Though the ingredients were fresh, the salad was fairly ordinary, and nothing better than what you could make at home. Most strangely, the cheese on the salad just came as one slice. Though I suppose this highlights the look of the Humboldt Fog cheese better, it wasn’t ideal for eating or sharing. Meatballs with walnut olive pesto: The meatballs were great but the walnut olive pesto turned out to be way too rich when coupled with the rich meatballs. The marinara would probably be a better choice, or ideally it would be a mix of the two sauces. Clam and pancetta flatbread: Tasty, but not particularly memorable. Probably should have gone with a different flatbread. All in all, an A-OK place. Props for being local and organic as well.

Small Shed is this adorable little store that is open to the sun. They advertise their use of local, organic materials. My friends and I sat down for a late lunch and were drawn to their flatbreads, the individual, pizza style, organic stone-ground crust featuring fresh Goia Mozzerella and Grana Padano cheeses. None of us were hungry enough to eat a flatbread individually, so we ordered family style, a Slamb flatbread($ 14.25, house-made Merguez sausage, roasted eggplant, caramelized onion, feta, Mozz & Grana, tomato sauce) and the Mac & Gru($ 7.50, Bala organic pasta, aged Gruyère cheese) to share. The Mac & Gru came out very quickly, the cheese still bubbling from being in the oven. The little bowl was definitely disappointing after the $ 7.50 price tag, but it was delicious and satisfying. Our flatbread came out quickly after. This is no individual pizza like it claims to be. The three of us were more than satisfied with the size of the Slamb. Everything was tasty, but I felt like there was a vaguely wine-y taste to the pizza somehow. Maybe it was just me. I can’t justify paying this much to eat here by myself, but if you share, it’s definitely a lot easier on your wallet and there’s more than enough food to feed everyone!

Food was good! Nothing you write home about but edible. The service… HOzrzrzizd! Possibly the worst we’ve ever had… and we’ve been service industry slaves all our lives. Needless to say, if you want good food and good service — avoid this place! If you want a quick meal with really crappy service — small shed it is! Servers had a pretentious, «I’m too „hippie“ to care» mentality. That unfortunately will leave them with a tip too small to afford marin! Food was pretty good! I wanted to give all our money to the cooks! Good food… TERRIBLE service What a shame. A smile and good attitude is free and goes a long way. Go hug a redwood kiddos

Wife and I were at the Corte Madera Town Center… Hungry for pizza and right next to California Pizza Kitchen– CPK. Sounds good, right? We’ve been there before, and it’s so-so chain food. Not to mention CPK in Walnut Creek was closed down for a week by the health dept for a nasty virus. No thanks. We found Small Shed Flatbreads in our favorite Marin County town, in a nice, cozy place off the main street. Their salads were fresh and delicious, their pepperoni/mushroom pizza a perfect balance of both ingredients and other yummy goodness. A tad pricey for pizza but worth it for the quality organic ingredients this independent restaurant uses to make their flatbreads and salads. We’re definitely coming back!

My boyfriend and I were recently up in Mill Valley for a wedding. I had never been to this ADORABLE town before and let me tell you I am absolutely in love. Not only is the town absolutely adorable and quaint, but they then have gems like this. Slightly hung over after the wedding, we knew we needed some good ol carbs to pick us up. I ordered the Q pizza and the bf ordered one with prosciutto, egg and blue cheese, but subbed the blue cheese for goat instead. Both pizzas were out of this world. I may have even given the place a 5 star, but there were a few hick ups. One, I had just had pizza two days earlier at a place in the city which is no joke the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Two, they forgot to sub the goat cheese and my bf hates blue cheese. They offered to fix it, but I said it was fine and just switched him. All in all the place is great and I would love to come back to vacation sometime!

My Mad River(shed-made sweet-maple fennel sausage, baked with oven-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, crimini mushrooms, mozzarella and cheese, herbs and tomato sauce) flatbread pizza was a bit bland, but the Q(Golden Farms all natural, nitrate free pepperoni, pancetta, mushrooms, mozzarella and grana cheese, tomato sauce and herbs) was tasty, the Slamb(house made Moroccan style spicy lamb sausage, roasted eggplant, caramelized onion, feta, mozzarella, tomato sauce and herbs) intriguing. .. a nice spot for a light and relaxing meal. Very laid back, so much so that service was a bit slow. All my dining compadres seemed to love their homemade lemonade — I could have used just a tad bit more sweetness.

yummmmm… one of my favorite spots to eat at when i visit mill valley! the place is super cute… they have a tv… happy hour specials… and super bomb hot sauce. service is great… and they also offer daily specials. i’ve tried a few things here… 1) Shhhh! with pancetta: Chopped clams sauteed with garlic and shallots in sauvignon blanc, then baked with parsley, oregano, mozzarella and parmesan on flatbread. not my favorite… but still pretty good to order again. 2) The Q: Golden Farms all natural, nitrate free pepperoni, pancetta, mushrooms, mozzarella and grana cheese, tomato sauce and herbs on flatbread. super yumminess!!! perfecto… there’s just nothing to complain about with this flatbread… freakin good. 3) Mad River: Shed-made sweet-maple fennel sausage, baked with oven-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, crimini mushrooms, mozzarella and grana cheese, herbs and tomato sauce on flatbread. my 2nd favorite flatbread. the fennel sausage was perfect and i love how they weren’t skimpy with the mushrooms. good stuff. 4) Caesar salad on Mt. Tamal pie: holy moly… the salad is just your average caesar… but the cheese flatbread underneath just makes it all better. 5) The wedge: Iceberg lettuce with creamy Pt. Reyes Blue cheese dressing and pancetta. what can i say… i heart blue cheese! we also ordered bread pudding for dessert and it was fantastic!!! don’t forget to ask for their house hot sauce. it worked so well with the pizza. prices are a little high… but hey, it’s mill valley. what do you expect? haha.

My husband describes this place as, «diggity bomb tastic!» We went here on our first trip to California in April 2010 and made sure to make a special trip just to go back on our second vacation there in July 2011. We’ve had 3 different flatbreads including one with pears, caramelized onions, and jalapenos. This was my husband’s favorite and he still remembers how the flavors melded together perfectly. He would have ordered it again, but it was a special, so they did not have it on the menu during our second visit. During our first visit, we also split the Shed Med salad which I posted a picture of. We also had the seasonal fruit crisp served warm ala mode! It had raspberries and strawberries. You could tell it was not made with a lot of added sugar, which meant you could taste the natural berry flavors. I also had a fresh squeezed lemonade with sparkling water and maple syrup. My husband was glad to have several California beers on tap to choose from. If you are in the neighborhood, give it a try. The staff was friendly and helpful both times we dinned there.

Went here with a group of 4 people for dinner on a Sunday night. Loved it! Very very cute restaurant with wonderful, rustic ambiance and great service. Several tables outside which would be lovely on a sunny day. We ordered 3 ‘flat breads’(which are really just like small, thin crust pizzas) and 2 starters to share and it was the perfect amount of food for us four. My favorite was the Mushroom flatbread– which was the special for the day. SOSO yummy. We also had sides of Mac & Gruyère & Meatballs to start with and they were both EXCEPTIONAL. Small servings, but perfect for wetting the appetite. Loved this place and can’t wait to go back.

The paper thin pizza is uniquely flavorful and light. Beer and wine selections are nice. Clients love this place. Friends visiting love it, too. I have too many favorite pizzas to list. And you can’t go wrong. Never miss ordering the vegi special appetizer ~ something inspirational done with brussel sprouts or cauliflower or whatever item is fresh that week. This is a place to go escape midday for a big snack and great conversation. Or early ~ or late ~ evening. Service can be erratic if the place is busy. Beware of families with wild animal children. This is not the fault of the restaurant. It’s family friendly. But the place is intimate and screaming children with non-attentive parents can kill the vibe. Sans children, however, the experience can be exceptional.

The perfect place for me to start my birthday weekend at! Pizza and maple syrup infused lemonade for lunch! I have a feeling that this is the kind of place I need to go back to over and over again to explore the full menu. So many great things to choose from… so many flavors… The lovely KTPower and I split a special salad with stuffed figs(did you know bugs get inside them and make them so delicious?) and a pizza. Plenty of food for two. Superb service even outside as the inside was going through a lunch rush. Enjoy!
