I like this place a lot and I like that it’s a family run business as I’m a little tired of eating at big franchise restraunts because you don’t get the same kind of service like you do at a place like this. It’s obvious how much they care about the business and the customers. The food is good so it’s definitely worth a try.

Good smoked eggplant and lamb burrito. The wheat chapati was excellent. Would be a five if the lamb was less salty.

You know it’s good when you say«Why isn’t this place in my town?» At Avatar’s, it’s all about the small touches. The addition of yogurt, fruit sauces, and fresh vegetables really enhance what some would otherwise consider a humble rice plate. I’m not sure why the rice plate costs slightly more than the burrito, but it’s a negligible amount. Why doesn’t all food come with a mango and tamarind purée? The curry pumpkin and chickpea addition is amazing, but what really makes it shine is the standard addition of fresh, flavored fruits and veggies to every plate. Avatar’s Dream, a slice of ice cream cake in a mango tamarind swirl, is an excellent choice to finish a meal. Can Avatar’s sell out to the Man and expand, please?

Curried sweet potato lamb burrito. Well seasoned. Good amount of meat. Just enough grease to add flavor, without dripping all over the place.

The food is excellent. In fact, my husband was not sure what to order and the waiter asked what he liked so he could make a dish that he was sure to like. The waiter said if my husband did not like it, then he would bring him something else. We absolutely love their food!

Had two lamb curry burritos and they were good, could have used some more flavor and perhaps an easier way to eat as they were very wide burritos but a genius idea for sure. The woman working, possibly owner, was very disinterested in our patronage which was a bummer as far as customer service goes. Still worth a try!

This is a burrito place and an amazing one at that. They use roti/paratha kind of bread in wrap and not a Naan. This is good as you get much nicer flavor. I ordered the basic burrito with garbanzo beans, rice, curry etc. It was amazing. My friends ordered, chicken, pumpkin etc options. All of us loved the food very much. It was very tasty, flavors were balanced and the quantity was good. The place is very small with 2 tables inside and 2 outside. Since, it was cold/rainy out side and we were just arriving from a difficult hike we decided to wait for tables inside. Lot of parking in the area, one of the spots took only quarters and we were lucky that one of my friends had quarters lying some where in his hiking pack bottom. Who carries quarters now a days?! Any how, we were craving for another burrito even at the end of the day after returning to the city. Note: the website linked to this Unilocal place is totally wrong. That is another Avatar restaurant, this place is Avatar Punjabi Burrito.

Not that Avatar needs yet another 5-star rating but I had to pop in on Unilocal to say that this place served up some really awesome food when we visited. We got the Curried pumpkin + Curried chicken Rice plate and Curried Veggies + Curried chicken Burrito. Both were delicious. They had some intriguing ingredients like pickled veggies, savory sweet tangy chutneys, spicy chole(made with chickpeas) and so on mixed in with the burrito and on the rice plate, but every bite was a tantalizing mouthful of fresh, healthy, delicious ingredients. It is Asian fusion for sure, but the heat is still on and so are the smörgåsbord of flavors that Indian food is well known for. We also got the dessert — Avatar’s dream — even though we were stuffed after the meal, but no regrets there. This is easily one of the BEST desserts I’ve had. A kulfi-like ice-cream consistency topped with whole pistachio nuts, served on a plate swirled with designs made from mango, raspberry and cream. OMG. This is the only dessert available and with one bite, you will know exactly why. I wish they had a branch in South Bay. Their locations are currently in Sausalito, Mill Valley and Larkspur. Perhaps in the future they will have a sister restaurant in Sunnyvale or Mountain View? One can hope.

For a long time this has been one of my favorite spots for a quick lunch in Mill Valley. What the menu lacks in specials and new items(it’s been about the same since I started going over 10 years ago…), it makes up for in consistent, flavorful food. Every time I go, it’s DELICIOUS! Punjabi burrito is always delicious(and a fun concept), but I tend to aim for the rice plates, as I think it’s a little more food, and you get to see all the beautiful components on the plate. Additionally, the owner(or whomever is working front of house) is super flexible to dietary restrictions and spice level preferences. I asked for«medium-plus» spiciness, and he totally delivered!(And I compared it to my friend’s same dish who had a much milder request, so I know it’s not uniform spice across the board.) It’s worth noting that there are only 3 small tables inside, so large groups are hard to accommodate and if it’s busy, you likely won’t find a seat. However, sitting outside at the two small tables or taking it to go sit in the Depot Plaza on a nice day is a great way to enjoy!

Sweet potato punjabi burrito is giving my stomach life. It’s amazing! I had it with chicken, yum! My only thing was the place was small and cramped. Other than that, the burrito was amazing. I will go again!

Was really excited to try this but was disappointed by the service. I arrived at 11:00 am on a Monday(hours on the door and online say they open at 11) but the door was locked. I walked around downtown then returned at 11:10 am. The plastic sign in the window was flipped to «open» but the door was still locked. I could see the cook in the kitchen and knocked on the door. We made eye contact several times and I knocked on the door two more times over the next few minutes before she hesitantly opened the door to talk to me. I asked when they open and she confirmed that they open at 11 am but the cashier was not there yet. This was an unprofessional encounter and I left because I would not want to eat at a restaurant run like this.

Ummmm… YUM! my son was having giggling fits when we were here. We were in Mill Valley for their yearly Winter Faire and while walking around the area, my husband saw the sign for Punjabi burritos. Since my son was craving pizza, we went to grab some slices for him first. Then after he finished his meal we ran over to Avatar’s. So glad we did cause their food is tasty. And very easy on the wallet. My husband ordered one of their burritos and I ordered a rice plate. They take cash only so make sure to bring cash. Service was friendly and fast! I’m bummed I missed out on dessert but we will definitely be back soon to try their other dishes. The place is small and they have approximately 3 tables inside and a couple outside but still a great place to enjoy lunch. Definitely check it out! It’s good.

Oh my goodness! Their food is soooo very delicious! We had a scrumptious meal… their pumpkin Punjabi burrito was mouth watering good… extraordinary flavors and every bite had me saying«this is sooooo good»; i ordered it with chicken and there were large tender pieces throughout — everything was moist and the fabulous tamarind sauce mixed well with the curry, vegetables and chutney. Dining partner had a mustard green curried lamb burrito and was thoroughly happy as well. The portion sizes were large and the ‘wrap’ bread absolutely delicious. Avatar is small, casual and affordable … there are eateries in Mill Valley that cater to a fusion version of ethnic street food yet with not much going on meal-wise and a whole lot of noise accompanying your experience… this place, though, is the real deal. Highly recommend trying the pumpkin burrito – yes, indeedy.

Sweet family-run spot(the kids just kinda hang out, help«open» the restaurant). Cheap, delicious, super filling meal to fuel your hike. or shopping spree. whatever you’re here for. They do NOT skimp on the meat. Everything’s super flavorful, and they have quite a selection of veggie and seafood options as well. You can see the ladies making everything fresh in the back. Never had trouble parking here with the meters in front. Cash only, womp womp.

Avatar will forever hold a special place in my heart because its doors were open on my first day arriving in Marin. Our crazy move consisted of four people driving from Indiana to the bay area, in two cars, both stick shifts, and with only two of us really knowing how to drive stick shift. To top if off, we got here on December 31st, at night. Most places were closed and we were starved and tired. Thankfully, Avatar was open and their crazy Indian burritos made me feel like the world could go on ;D Avatar’s Burritos are huge, filled with curry(I’ve usually gone for lamb or pumpkin), flavorful and spicy enough. Even the wrap is delicious, some kind of Indian thin fried bread(dosa?) instead of a flavorless corn tortilla. Be aware that this location accepts only cash. Since that first time I’ve come back to the Mill Valley Avatar a few times, even bringing some out of towners for a quick meal. I’ve eaten at the Corte Madera location and peeked inside Fairfax. Out of the three, this one does it for me. There’s not much sitting space, but it’s small and cute and quaint. On the other hand, the Corte Madera Avatar feels like a strip mall quick stop; which… I guess it is.

Disappointed when I ordered the curry pumpkin veggie burrito. Not only was i up-charged more than the chicken or lamb but I was not told that it would be an up-charge. My burrito was significantly smaller than the meat versions. The flavor was ok. I give it three stars for curiosity. For the price, I’d rather order Punjab/Indian food — from another restaurant.

These are the most delicious burritos! Adding grilled chicken is a great addition. The atmosphere is nothing special but the service is great and the restaurant is right near Mill Park where you can take a stroll. It is a bit pricey but pretty large and can be split with a friend if you’re not too hungry. What a delicious and novel food. I will be back.

A huge, filling burrito for only $ 7.50 is a great deal for lunch in Mill Valley. My friends who came here before recommended it to us and we were lingering like hungry trolls outside the little shop on the hill before it opened. Finally a woman came up the sidewalk saying, «I’m here, I’m here» with a smile. It seems to be a casual family-run business, so they are very relaxed and the atmosphere is welcoming. As a lactose-intolerant person, I can be stumped at Indian restaurants by the creaminess of many of the dishes, but I really appreciate how they explicitly advertise that one can request their meal be made dairy-free(or gluten-free, whatever your dietary needs are) and they easily accommodate it without compromising flavor at all. I ordered a mixed seasonal vegetables burrito. The five of us in our group all ordered burritos and when five enormous aluminum-wrapped rolls came out in one massive pile I was very much impressed. I munched on just the roti wrapper for a few bites before I got to the burrito innards, but I was totally satisfied just eating the yummy toasted roti plain too. The filling was a pleasantly surprising salty and sweet mix of flavors. It included broccoli and other vegetables, but also what I think was pineapple and maybe peaches to add a contrasting tang! I was 100% satisfied with my delicious lunch at Avatar’s. Too bad I don’t live next to any of their branches, but I will find an excuse to visit a neighborhood with one again.

We went here for dinner since it sounded affordable & had great reviews. We had a bit of trouble finding it — there is no business sign/name on the outside, only some handwritten paper«open» signs. My husband & I each got the Low-Carb version of the Chicken Curry & it was delicious! Food came out very fast, but was tasty. My husband really loved it.

Tasty«burritos», I loved the crunchy, sweet/sour chutney contrasting with the spiciness of the smoked eggplant and curried lamb filling. My main complaints were that it was over salted and the chapati they used to wrap the whole thing up in seemed to have been dipped in oil.

A place that servers Indian and burritos is my kind of place :) Veggie curry burrito was great. I loved the curry flavor. Veggies were ok but limited. Wheat tortilla. Mostly filled with rice. Small restaurant. Drink refrigerator and drink overstock took up half the store sitting, but it was ok. Still got a table. Loved my food :)

Just the smell of the Jerk Chicken here makes me smile. The naan is wonderful, and the chickpeas are perfectly done. We have been coming here once a week for years, and when they go on vacation they have to warn my husband and I ahead of time, so we can prepare for the withdrawal!

My wife and I dropped in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. She does not enjoy spicy food at all. I do. This sometimes makes it difficult find a happy medium. To make things worse, many staff find it hard to believe just how un spicy my wife needs. Enter Avatar’s. We explained that anything north of ketchup is pretty much her limit. We were assured that she would be fine with the basic Punjabi burrito. She loved it. Flavorful without being spicy hot. Winner! I had the burrito with curried chicken along with a bowl of the lentil soup. I loved the variety of flavors in the burrito, the mango added a wonderful sweetness. The lentil soup was spicy, but not over the top. It too had lovely flavor, delicious to my taste. Highly recommended.

Having family in Mill Valley has many perks. Their house is amazing and best of all, we’re just a few minutes away from a ferry that can easily get us into San Francisco in under an hour. Another perk is being just a few minutes away from Avatar’s. My cousins had recommended that my wife and I check it out, and we happily obliged. We found street parking very easily and proceeded towards the modest, cash-only establishment where a friendly woman stood behind the counter. We perused through their menu and I immediately noticed that everything ranged from around $ 7.50 to $ 10. Not bad at all. My wife settled for a rice plate while I got one of their ‘burritos’ in which smoked eggplant was featured. I also added curried chicken and the entire thing was absolutely divine and I happily chomped away. The balance of the spices, the textures, the aromas blew me away. I almost wanted to get a second one but was too full. The place has been in business since 1989 and pride themselves in serving ‘ethnically confusing food’ which in their case is a hybrid between Indian and Mexican. And while it seems a bit extreme, they make it work. They make it work very, very well and it is not surprising that they’ve been around for 25 years. I can only hope that they one day decide to expand to Boston. I’d welcome them with my arms wide open. But for now I’ll just settle as leaving it as something to look forward to on my visits to the Bay Area. So ride on over, bring some cash and enjoy. And save room for dessert, you won’t regret it.

A great plate of food time and again at all of their locations. The first time I went to Avatar’s was their Larkspur location. it was a great experience I am happy to say was repeated at the Mill Valley location. Indian food served with a twist and tastiness that brought me back. I recommend trying the specials This time it was a Great special in the form of a turkey and sweet potato rice plate plate thing. Super yum and gone all to quickly! They also have Bundaberg Ginger Beer here. Thins of it as a ginger ale with big brass balls. Best non-alcoholic thing they could have had to go along with the plate. Hint: They do have a bathroom here and it’s clean. You just have to ask. Glad I stopped by and know I will be back in the future! Thanks Avatar’s Mill Valley!

UNIQUEANDDELICIOUS! I was apprehensive when i first entered this establishment. It was small, crowded, and loud. Little did i know that it was crowded for a reason. The food is soooooo amazing. I have never had such an interesting mix of cultures in my cuisine, but this place does wonders with everything. I cannot even recommend a specific item, as they are all superb. As our waiter told us, «everything is awesome!» The price is a bit on the high side for smaller portions that are given. It is what it is-this is still Marin County I believe. Overall impression of the place is that it is definitely a must go.

Ach ja — nur Bares is Wahres! — Kreditkarten werden hier hier nicht akzeptiert.
