This used to be one of our favorite places in Marin that’s why we came here to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Unfortunately our romantic night ended up in a toilet literally — that was the worst food poisoning me and my wife had. We did not have any food for a few hours before Buckeye so there is no doubt — we had our food poisoning there. Now when we looked back it was probably smoked wings that had some strange smell. I called the restaurant and told the manager about the situation — the only question he had if we went to a hospital. No follow up call to check how we were doing. I think it was our last visit to Buckeye.

Went with a friend yesterday, Tues, June 7, at 8PM. We just wanted to have a drink. I was told it was a 40 minute wait for the bar. Boo! That’s insane. You guys make soooooo much money every night with a packed dining room, build a bigger bar! So we went to the next exit south to Outback. Very nice host – no wait – great bartender – great food. Get lost Buckeye!!!

Hmm, nice place, but the food was not great. Hear that most people prefer the bar section and have had a better experience there vs the restaurant. Would still go there again but expect less.

Oh how I feel let down by my beloved Buckeye. I’ve been a die hard loyalist since Bubba Clinton was in the WH. However, recently took an out of town guest to dine for that famous Marin experience and all three of our entrées were of the smallest size imaginable. My ribs were about 40% of the previous portion. They give you a knife to cut them but they’re already cut into little rib lets. They subbed the usual mashed potatoes for grits. Wtf. The waiters are career waiters who seem exhausted having to go through the ritual of pretending to be interested in you for their tip. You have to pass them your plates as they can’t reach them. Awkward. For my money there is far better out there for the money and value and quality these days. Too bad.

This place is very comfortable and the décor is amazing !! I came here on a Sunday evening without a reservation, and we got a table on the top, next to the window. I ordered a chili line brick chicken and it was super tasty. The service is great and not too long. The only bad point is that it is a little bit noisy when it is packed.

This review is specifically for the bar area. Stopped by for some drinks after work and it was a great evening. The bar wasn’t full, it felt very cozy and relaxing ambiance. It’s not a large bar area but it was perfect for that evening. We’ve sent clients to Buckeyes a lot and there is always positive feedback.

Amazing food, Amazing service, Amazing atmosphere. We were in for the Miwok 100k race and needed a quick bite to eat after picking up our bibs at the San Francisco Running Company. I went to the best standby I know«Siri» and asked for«Restaurants near me» Thank goodness we found Buckeyes Roadhouse! We had the Turkey burger the first night then after the race went back and had their amazing steak. Thank you!

The comfort and class of The Buckeye is timeless. It is truly dining as it should be. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar, and when our table was ready we were ready too. :-) The waiter(Chick) was attentive, but not hovering. Looking around you can see that all the dining room staff are professionals. Chick described our menu choices and recommended them with confidence. We shared a perfect portion of Polenta … just enough appetizer not to spoil our appetites. The Lime Brick Chicken was tender and moist. It, too, came with Polenta sticks(no complaint here) and veggies. The ribs, are not pre-boiled; rather they are slow roasted and smokey flavored. It took only a slight bit of pull to coax the meat off the bone. The side was a creamy cheddar cheese grits, and picnic-perfect cole slaw. Cool and crispy! We had a cup of post-dinner coffee, and tawk, you know… coffee tawk. We didn’t want to camp out on the table, but we never felt rushed or pressure to move along. The coffee was sooooo good. Perfect ending.

We had an early reservation, but by the time everyone arrived(from Santa Cruz and Sebastopol) it was probably a good half-hour past that. Fortunately, the restaurant was still able to accommodate us. We sat upstairs, and our server promptly took our orders for appetizers and drinks. We ordered two onion strings, which we all loved, plus a small plate of shrimp and calamari, which had these delicious but spicy slices of jalapeño peppers. While the appetizers were good, the main courses were fantastic. It was my sweetie’s 60th birthday, and he ordered the beef brisket, which he loved. I had the special beef stew, featuring chunks of filet minon, and it was delicious. Another woman got the grilled chicken, also very good. We all got desserts, which were yummy. I got the butterscotch crème brule, which I loved. Great coffee too. While I was waiting for everyone to arrive, I was happy to order a hard cider at the bar. Others have mentioned that it is a noisy place, and it is. Not appropriate for a quiet, romantic dinner to be sure. But if that’s not an issue — and as we were a party of 8 with 3 kids, it wasn’t — I recommend this place highly.

Decided to try this Steakhouse out while in town. I was very pleased with the service and the Food. If you decided to go make reservations as it can fill up fast. The only comment I would say is that for dinning on a weekday night it seems like the seating capacity is over max. It does not have the quite setting you might be looking for. It is not a romantic setting and the tables and chairs seemed to always be moving around to make more room. Overall would recommend you try it.

Great old school spot. Service is pretty top notch and on point. Food is all around well executed. Vibe is on the older crowd side. Smoked Wings(5⁄5) — best thing on the menu. Crispy, tender, and flavorful all at once. Calamari(4⁄5) — Lightly breaded and with a surprising green sauce that was a refreshing new accompaniment for calamari. A little modest on the portion size compared to their other dishes but still worth it. Beef Brisket(3⁄5) — It was fine. In my opinion it has too much sauce and has nothing on Texan bbq brisket. Baby Back Ribs(4⁄5) — A solid execution but also nothing close to the true bbq pit masters of the south and Texas I’m told the salmon was the best among the food on the table but I didn’t try it myself. Overall, I can see why people love the spot. Decent value.

Can’t say anything bad about Buckeye Roadhouse. For being my first time, everything was tip top! From the Valet, which I apologize for forgetting his name, but was very helpful, especially me being new to the area, offered to give me tips on things to do since he’s grown up here. Ambiance inside was wonderful, service from my waitress Erin was the best I’ve had in a while. I chose her recommendation on the soup of the day, a White Bean and Chard Tomato Base which was outstanding. Love when soups don’t need any extra needed, even though if they did, I would give Buckeye 5 Stars on the fact that they have actual Salt and Pepper Grinders at each table. Definite brownie points in my book. Now to the Bacon Wrapped Filet. I’ve read other reviews about the oysters which I will try on my next visit, but the Filet, cooked perfectly!!! This coming from a carnivore. 5 Stars all the way, you’ve made a new regular!

Just go ahead and get the oysters bingo. Anything short of life-threatening shellfish allergy is no excuse to not get them. If you will die if you have them, then pass. Still, consider for a moment that if you don’t get them, then you will die without having had them. This place grills and smokes, so keep that in mind when looking at the menu. Play to their strengths and be rewarded. Also, the french fries. Buckeye Roadhouse is rock solid. Great food, terrific building, superior service. Not bargainy, my friends. Take a look at the cars parked out front. Be prepared to drop some $.

Terrible service!!! I’m not a rich person like most of the patrons there but expect to be treated with the same respect. The lady that served us was super rude! She even gave us a dirty look after she saw her tip. I work in the service industry and don’t always get a tip but don’t make the customers feel bad about it.

I had a 100 $ gift card for this place but I guess my 10 $ tip wasn’t enough. I can barley afford to live in the Bay Area, let alone give a huge tip. Besides. My pork chop tasted weird. For a place that is way overpriced, the food and service sucks!

Amazing. Great service, opted to have my salad course two with oysters bingo and the seared ahi tuna as apps, my demands were followed. My lamb shank was so tender I feel like the knife was for looks… The lemon rice had some toasted pistachios pine nuts and golden raisins… I felt like it went nowhere nice with the simple red wine reduction the lamb was braised with. Would recommend this place to anyone. Her salmon was on point as well.

So I have seen this restaurant many times and wanted to try it out. It seemed nice on Unilocal but when we came in it seemed really… Dull. The food was decent. Service was mediocre. They have free valet, which really isn’t free since you have to tip, and then a screwed up parking lot across the street. I doubt i would ever be back.

Went on a dinner date last night to The Buckeye. The service was impeccable and spot on. The price and the portion size are just right. My date ordered the brisket, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was so I tried some and it just melts in your mouth. I ordered the baby back ribs that had a mild sauce and dry rub mixture, very delicious. It also came with a generous amount of mashed yams and coleslaw on the side. Thumbs up on both!

I love this place. My husband and I live very close and go here about once a month, when we really want a nice night. I’ve had the oven brick chicken, butternut squash ravioli, and another vegetarian dish that I can’t remember the name of, but they were all excellent! The smores dessert is awesome, and there is a lemony custard with a berry sauce that I cannot think of. My memory is failing me at 23! The drinks are great, service is always excellent. We will be long time customers, just wish we could come more often!

One word. Trainwreck. Friday night 8PM. You would think you’d have your best staff on during these hours. Our waiter and busboy barely knew what to do. First things first, a waiter should acknowledge not abandon. The first few minutes that a diner sits and has to wait for service will affect their entire mood for the entire evening. Keeping diners waiting while other diners… seated after them are getting their drink orders is inexcusable.

Came here for an early dinner and from reading on Unilocal I decided to order the Oyster Bingo. That was such a great choice! The oysters tasted so good! They serve bread while waiting and that was pretty good too. For my main course I ordered the Lamb. It came out tender and not too gamey. I was iffy about getting it but wanted to try it out. Not a bad choice either. I didn’t like our server too much. The restroom seemed tiny and I’m short! They don’t have self parking in front of the restaurant so you would have to cross the street to park but they do have complimentary valet so that’s a plus.

We had dinner here last night and we absolutely loved it! The place has a real old school vibe– harkens back to a simpler time. Dim lighting, rustic interior with classy flare. But the food is what keeps people coming back and keeps the tables full at lunch and dinner daily. For appetizers we had the oysters royal and chicken wings. The wings were literally the best I’ve ever had and I’m a good Midwestern girl who has eaten her fair share of wings. For dinner I had the brick chicken and every bite was better than the last– flavors for every layer of your palette. Others in our party had the duck, lamb shank, and flank steak and loved them. Against our better judgment we had dessert: s’mores pie, sundae and coconut cream pie. The s’mores pie was spectacular(see photo). We were uncomfortably full but enjoyed every bite. The service was also impeccable and the wine list decent. Despite its far distance from San Jose, the Buckeye is worth the trip. Also, I’m a native Ohioan so was intrigued by the name. It is in fact named for the buckeye tree that is commonly found in the Midwest. However the buckeyes on the tree when grown in California get to be a much bigger– the size of baseballs! And that is where the restaurant got it’s name.

This is one of those places I return to again and again and again. I always bring out of town guests here and last night, it was my client from St Louis. We were not disappointed – and even passed up our reservation to stay at the bar and eat! Our British server Stephe was perfect in every way. Funny. Prompt — even when it got busy– and a true pro. Food always a home run. I have a serious nut allergy and they(servers and kitchen) take me seriously. Salad perfection – the right amount of dressing, crisp and cold. Mmmm. Wine list is awesome. Tina of quality wines by the glass. What can I say – I’m a fan!

Fantastic service, comfortable décor, free valet, easy location, and great food. Meal: Caesar salad — not labeled as having fish but was heavy on it. When we mentioned that to our server she whisked it away in a flash and brought us an absolutely wonderful replacement with greens, blue cheese, and apples. Good bread Ribeye steak for the main course was perfect. Medium-rare, quality cut, excellent taste. The small potatoes side was excellent. Marshmallow pie for dessert was anti-climatic. Literally just a bunch of marshmallow. I’d pass on that when I go back.

My new favorite brunch spot. Buckeye Roadhouse has the best Eggs Benedict in Marin, bar none. The sauce is smooth(not thick and clumpy) and only has a hint of lemon. Their Bloody Mary’s are also quite good. Service was great. They were all friendly and efficient. The décor is upscale rustic and there is plenty of room between tables. It is a very versatile restaurant, meaning it would be a good place for romance, a group lunch or family dining. The only catch is that it comes with a bigger price tag in comparison to other comparable venues. That said, I truly enjoy Buckeye Roadhouse and plan on more brunches there in 2016.

This was my first trip to the bay area. Buckeye Roadhouse was rated high by some and it seemed to have a beautiful atmosphere and great menu. Boy, was I in for a surprise. Yes, the scenery was great and the wait staff was OK… but this was some of the nastiest food my family has ever eaten. My daughter’s well-done steak was bleeding. We sent it back. It came back bleeding a little less, but very tough and tasteless. My husband’s mushroom soup was bland and muddy. His kale salad reminded me of a brick on his plate. My own salad was the best of the food we ordered but not memorable, that’s for sure. My other daughter simply asked them to make a vanilla shake. I think she got the best end of the deal. I am going to say that the fried calamari at Buckeye Roadhouse was the most sickening. It was literally an octopus on the plate. Along with looking nasty, it was tough and rubbery. I do not recommend this restaurant and seriously believe the building should be changed to a museum or something. Food is not their specialty.

Who doesn’t love Buckeye Roadhouse? My colleagues and I have kept the tradition of coming here for our Holiday luncheons and birthdays. I prefer coming here during Christmas time when everything is decorated beautifully. The second floor has a nice view overlooking the restaurant. The service is always stellar, and we walk away content. I find a reason to return the next week just to enjoy the ambiance, drinks, and fine dining all over again. Those who know me, know that I like to order everything on the menu. For starters, one must order the oysters bingo, crispy calamari & shrimp. I love the pork chop, baby back ribs, flat iron steak, and bacon-wrapped petit filet mignon. For dessert, the S’more pie is a must! They have an extensive wine list, along with the classic cocktails. I like my Appletini’s and wines of course. P. S. Don’t forget their convenient drive-by coffee kiosk«Buckeye Joe», serving up early morning deliciousness during the morning commute… hmm…hmm…good!

We ate here with relatives last week. Good food and service. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Also, I was very pleased with the prompt reply and action from the Buckeye’s Community & Reputation Manager in response to a concern I had. Finally got to go here after many peoples advice and raves about it. As you know me by now. I’ll drive anywhere for food. First time we stopped here for dessert on the way home from dinner at another place. Thursday evening, came in around 9:45 pm and got seated immediately at the bar. Very laid back and relaxing with TV and nice bar. I ordered the s’mores pie and a baked lemon pudding with a double shot of McCallan 18YO. FIVE minutes later our dessert is here and I gotta say my mouth was watering as I cut into the pie. One word: the smores pie was AMAZING!!! I ate it all myself and had to order another one. The lemon pudding is jus as good as the pie. Nice and rich and not even that sweet which I really enjoyed. Especially with my scotch. The second time I came here for dinner and orders the Pork Chop. Yes, I’m a pork chop fanatic. Always my first choice of they have it on the menu. This Time I waited quite a while for dinner but I guess it was worthwhile. Cooked just the way I like it, well with no pink. The flavors on point with that tangy sweetness to it. Mixed in with the charred grill marks. It was a huge piece but I managed to devour it all. I’ll have to come back and order all the other famous dishes. Runs, wings, steak. And so forth. I have it 4 out of 5 due to the parking and the wait time. Bar staff wasn’t attentive. Maybe it’s mill valley? Well after my next visit it might be a 5 star. We’ll see.

Excellent food and service. We arrived an hour late past our reservation. Traffic was bad because it was a beautiful day in the city during Valentine’s Day weekend. But we called ahead to say how we were going to be late and the hostess could only keep our reservation past 15 minutes. We decided to come anyway to see if there would be any open tables. Thankfully, there was still an open table for us! We got seated right away and the waitress came by to take our order. We ordered clam chowder to start and I loved how it was packed with vegetables. For lunch, we ordered the lamb shank and the pork sandwich, which were both amazing! I would probably come back for another special occasion because it’s expensive, but it’s definitely worth a visit!
