Food was great but after wife took our daughter to the bathroom to wash her hands, she noticed there was no soap. Another woman in the bathroom with her child had mentioned the past two times she had been there, the soap was completely absent(no dispenser, or bottle, nothing). My wife mentioned it to the waiter and he said he would address it. After leaving here, my wife and I are wondering how in the heck are the cooks PROPERLY washing their hands prior to food prep or after using the bathroom! Serious health code violation there for both the employees and the customers who use the bathroom. How much germs and possible E Coli is being spread at this location. Yuck! Last time we will be there.

Stopped by after visiting Muir woods. On a Sunday around 11:45 the place was busy. Overall the Food was good, my server was bad everyone else’s service seemed fine . Had pasta stew, it was filling a bit on the spicy side. Wife had burger it was large and tasty. Daughter had usual chicken strips, she liked it. Fries were lame. Prices fair. Parking rough, don’t try to turn left out of parking area on a busy day.

One star for the location/view. One star for the kid-friendly atmosphere. No stars for food. The food here was not good. It kind of reminded me of food from Kitchen Nightmares. I got a salad where the lettuce was wilted and browning at the edges. My kid wouldn’t even eat the kids’ pasta, because it lacked flavor. The Arnold Palmer was flavorless as well. Maybe they just had an off day? Or maybe they’re just relying on the prime location to attract diners.

I stopped by Dipsea With some friends on the way to visit Muir Woods. While our hunger was satisfied, we were not. Dipsea is a diner-style restaurant with gourmet prices and waiters that leave something to be desired. The good: — The eggs Benedict were fairly good, similar to those you would find in a typical breakfast café /diner. — You have a nice view out the window. The bad: — The waiters are very slow and often forget things you ask them. We had to wait many minutes and ask a couple times for someone to come take our order. — The eggs Benedict ended up costing about $ 17 :-o My friends also ended up paying similarly outrageous prices. I would not recommend going to Dipsea unless you are willing to spend a small fortune and overlook the quality of service. There are several other restaurants in Sausalito within a block of Dipsea that could be a better choice for passing travelers.

Cute café with local charm. We came here for breakfast. Decent menu selection, prices seemed a bit high for the kind of food portions offered. My hubby got the sausage jack omelet and it came with burnt toast. Not impressed with the presentation or the food. Yes it was simple but yet bland. I chose the eggs over easy with skimpy portion of potatoes and muffin. It was simple and bland as well. Hubby mentioned coffee was«strong as hell», he needed lots of cream. Had to ask for more each time he was refilled. I got the mimosa which was nice. Service was ok. Not warm and fuzzy but just ok. Bathrooms needed attention and smelled BAD, like fish. It’s an older place but needs a bit of «spring cleaning» as there was dust and grime on window sills. Not sure we’d come back.

This was my second time at the Dipsea and it was warm and comfy. The food was delicious. The staff is easy and friendly. And very kid friendly. We ordered brunch and breakfast items. My falafel burger was delicious and I would eat it again! My MIL had a blueberry milkshake and loved it. We will be back again.

Just had breakfast here for the first time in a couple of years… It was horrible! The home fries tasted old. Corned beef was burned along with a few egg shells in the mix. So disappointed

The food … The biscuit was fantastic 1 star for that anything else was bad;omelette had a weird taste to it and undercooked … Nicoise salad Was drenched in dressing. Not sure we will be back

I looked at some of the less than stellar reviews and as I suspected they boil down to one big problem which is lack of management on site. Today my wife and I dropped by for a late breakfast. I ordered the special pancakes with pears, and when they came they were doughy. The waitress was sitting at the counter talking to a couple of people and I had to go tell her the pancakes were doughy, as she neglected to check on us after serving the food. Then she argued with me that that was how they were supposed to be, fluffy. Fluffy was what I was after but these were doughy. She defended those pancakes until it was more embarrassing to continue than to stop. This stuff doesn’t happen with good management.

I would give zero stars if it was an option. I have been here many times and every time it has been horrible. Service that is very sub par and when your food does come out its luke warm or not cooked. The service here is something I just don’t understand. I walked in with my son on Friday Feb 19th and waited to be seated for 10 mins, the restaurant was not busy at all and almost every employee looked at me but didn’t bother to come seat us. I left after waiting with no service. Now I know I will never go back after giving them so many chances that they failed to deliver on.

I always try to stop in the Dipsea Café as a reward for hiking or walking along the the Dipsea Trail. They have awesome pancakes! The space is fairly large and they are constantly busy; one can sit outside, enjoying the views, if it’s not too cold. The parking lot can tricky to get into but there is usually ample parking.

A bright place with plenty of light and floor space. The restaurant is equipped with a lot of tables, however not enough servers during the time we where there. This issue becomes challenging when you might want to order your food, another cup of coffee, get your bill, etc. you get the picture. The food is nothing to write home about if your willing to ‘wait” for it like everything else. Regardless, its overpriced for the quality and quantity of the meals served. But if your having a business meeting here, like the majority of people today it wouldn’t matter because the value of the person your eating with is higher than the meal itself. This restaurant has been here for awhile and the majority of locals know what to expect from this place, and at times we need to bite the bullet knowing what to look forward to, so that we don’t continually get disappointed.

I’ve always passed by this place for years and during a kick to try new places my husband and I took our daughter to see what was up. Well the hostess if you could call him that was rude, asked the number of people in our party and sat us down, handed us menus and just walked away. Shortly after we placed our drink order with our waitress which arrived pretty promptly. We placed the order then came the massive decline… we waited, and waited, and waited. We didn’t order anything elaborate, it’s breakfast after all– how long should a half empty restaurant take to make pancakes? The worst part? The people seated after us received their food way before we did. Waitress didn’t check on us to give an eta, we had to ask how much longer. When it arrived it wasn’t more than a few minutes into the meal that she dropped the check. Seriously? It’s a popular spot, looks like a locals spot, however I’m not gonna be one of them with that service. The food was just okay, but the waitress didn’t care to find out. There’s too many places out there to waste good money on spots that don’t give a darn whether you’re enjoying your visit. Food wasn’t cheap.

I enjoyed their tuna salad today for lunch. It had many fresh ingredients like artichokes, beets, greens, potatoes, cucumbers, tuna, and boiled egg. The organic coffee was good and I tried their ham and that was pretty tasty too. A charming place that looks like a barn. It’s pretty busy with families but still quiet enough to talk.

We came all the way from SF looking for a relaxing, country-feel brunch. This place was recommended by a friend. This is quite popular with the locals. The parking was full at 9:00am on a Saturday. Although, we didn’t have to wait for a table as they have a pretty spacious place with an outside seating. The food was just mediocre. The service was good, we didn’t have to wait for our food for a long time. While there, I felt like I was eating at one of those chain restaurants like Ihop. Perhaps it was the furniture, the décor or the service people — I can’t figure it out. It wasn’t special. I will try again as sometimes it’s own our expectations that at fault not the restaurant’s.

Stoped here on our way to Muir Woods for some lunch. Waiter wasn’t much for helping us out and seemed much more interested in talking to the locals, we where visiting from Sweden with two kids. Ordered Tuna salad sandwich and a tuna melt for us grow ups which was ok, but the Turkey sandwich that the kids split had large parts of gristle which wasn’t received well. Kind of pricey for the portions and it didn’t feel like the place should be pricey when it looked like a normal diner.

Service made this the lamest brunch ever . I think there may have been 3 servers on for the entire restaurant. Before all the west coasters throw shade let me say I get it it’s Cali and things are much more laid back but forgetting drinks, food orders and 25 min to take orders is unacceptable no matter what coast you are on. The big ass biscuit was legit as was the house made jam. If you have plenty of time to kill and aren’t hangry I would recommend this place for a laid back(very laid back) place to mange

It breaks my heart to not give Dipsea a higher rating, because I have been coming here for well over 10 years and there are so many good things to love about The Dipsea, including their huge portions, extensive menu options, and delicious biscuits. But there is something consistently wrong with the Dipsea, and that is the service is terrible. The other reviews you are reading are not flukes. More often than not, you will be kept waiting an inordinate amount of time for your food, a drink, or even your check. 45+ minutes is unacceptable in my book. I will always come back to The Dipsea time and again because their food is delicious and filling, but the lack of a prompt, hospitable staff prevents them from having a higher recommendation from me.

Great atmosphere on the patio. Nice place for breakfast along a small river. The waitress was pleasant and the food was good. Only problem was it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. They apologized for a backed up kitchen. So while it was nice, I’m not sure I would return.

Great place to stop by if you’re headed into Marin for some hiking(which is what we did) because its conveniently located right by the freeway. There is outdoor seating right along some river/creek which was where we sat. The one thing you notice immediately about Marin is all the babies/families/dogs/greenery(which is awesome) as opposed to the standard hung over/drunk 20 – 30 somethings at brunch in SF. But i digress. I had the chicken apple sausage omelette and fresh squeezed orange juice and really enjoyed it. My friend had one of the specials which was an apricot pancake which he was really into. I have heard rumors of a mango pancake here, but it is part of the specials and that changes everyday. I was really curious to try it too. This place appears to be popular but we were seated pretty quickly and I felt like the crowd was managed well. However, we did wait a while to get our check. I would definitely keep it on the list for whenever heading into Marin for breakfast.

The short version: Good Food/Poor Service. Overall about a 2.5 star experience. The Huevos Rancheros were good, but not exceptional. I’ll give them 3 stars for taste. The service was really poor. We asked for waters with our drink order but they weren’t brought out with our drinks. It took our food so long to come out that we had already finished our drinks by the time it arrived. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the waitress had checked in on us after we received our food. But we had already finished half of our meal before we got her attention and could order more drinks and re-request our waters. I wanted to give Dipsea a 3 star review, but the poor service definitely left us with a below average experience.

read the other reviews, its not just me, POORSERVICE&MANAGEMENT INCONSISTENTFOOD 4,3,2, ONE. … We have been bringing friends from out of town to the Dipsea for years for breakfast/brunch. Living in Tiburon there is not much to choose from for a clean healthy family breakfast, maybe HALFDAYCAFE in Kentfield, but that is a trek. We showed up around noon on a crowded Saturday and needed a table for six, they took our name and we waited, and waited, and waited. Our hunger mounted and It crossed my mind to actually place our order before we were seated, who does that, right? To be Fair most of the booths and tables are for four, so the only way to seat six is to have two tables of four to empty at the same time, then they push the tables together. They finally called our name, the host didn’t seat us, he passed us off to one of waiters, who we proceeded to follow across the room. He walked really slow, then slower, without saying a word, stopped walking. All six of us were standing in a single file line, hungry, in the middle of the busy restaurant. The table was not clean or set, so he was stalling us. he could have said that. after about 30 seconds we were on our way again. The Table was slanting downhill in a big way, I could have taken a napkin and stuck it under two of the legs, but we were still waiting for napkins. Another waiter came with the menus and gave us a minute. My Daughter wanted a kids menu with coloring and crosswords,(they never offered it). I Went back to the abandoned host station and got it myself. here is the order: Me: eggs Benedict and small oj my wife: french onion soup + coffee daughter: french toast + bacon w/root beer float wife’s sister: french onion soup + diet coke uncle: omelette + coffee their son: cheeseburger + fries + root beer Mine: my oj was really fresh and good, when it came I asked for water, but the water never came. Eggs Benedict was quite good. I get that every time. The potatoes were under cooked. kind of disappointing. My Wife and her sister: our food came first, theirs did not. No word from the waiter, he disappeared. Now for the decision, do we eat our food while its warm, or wait for theirs and eat together. We waited a few minutes, they finally suggest we start, and we did. Uncle’s cheese omelette, cheese was not melted inside, it was cold and shredded. Bummer. Their son did not get his root beer till the third request. My water never came. My daughters French toast and bacon had three big pieces of toast, and one tiny strip of bacon– bad ratio. We ordered more bacon. When the french onion soup came it was watery, had no bread, just a few croutons and a very small amount of grated cheese.(for the record, we like our french onion soup with a layer of Swiss, melted over bread, in a bowl or mug with yummy soup). Since the in-laws were in a rush to hit the road, and we had been waiting so long for our food, it didn’t make sense to send the soup back as every item, 6 of 6 was sub-par. the check came, I gave them my card. At lease ten minutes passed and it was not returned to me. In-laws offered to leave the tip, I told them that would not be necessary, as I left ONECENT, as that was all the poor service was worth. Inlaws had to hid the road, so they left, while we waited to finish paying, AWKWARD. WEWILLNOTBEGOINGBACK.

After finding out I would be dining here the following day I checked Unilocal.Uh-oh. Inconsistent reviews harping on food, service and management?!? Color me concerned. We got there about 11am and were seated immediately. So far so good. Our server took about five minutes to appear which is fine. Drinks were ordered and the waiter disappeared. It took a bit under ten minutes to get most of our drinks(juice, tea, espresso beverage) and about another 5 for so minutes for the smoothy to appear. The mocha I ordered was quite nice though Im not a fan of filling a cup to the brim so you spill when you raise the up to drink from it. For a starter I had the house made chili. While the menu only mentions a bowl the server said you could also get it in a cup. It was an interesting chili that while lacking in heat had a nice flavor to it. My entrée was a burger which I ordered medium rare. It came in the shoe leather/hockey puck range. The toppings were fresh and flavorful but the meat itself was ruined(one of the people I was dining with also ordered a burger and their was also massively overdone as well). Besides being very overdone the burger itself was a bit on the smallish side. The side that came with my burger was potato salad, which was a nice ice-cream scoop sized mound. The potato salad was rather neutral in taste aside from I think dill. Overall the service was good but some portion sizes were underwhelming and the kitchens ability to cook a burger to order was non-existent.

Our first stop before going on our hike! Maybe not the best idea, because they have really great portions. We arrived at 10AM, which was right before it started to pick up. The venue has a lot of character and energy with all the workers running around. The service was good, straight to the point, no BS. Our server greeted, took our order, and checked on us throughout our meal, plus bussers coming around to clear off empty plates and refilling water/coffee. The menu provided a nice variety of options, from the griddle to omelettes. I ordered the HOUSEGRAVLAX&PORTOBELLAMUSHROOMBENEDICT with tarragon Hollandaise $ 15.95. I have to say it was the tastiest, most filling Benedict I’ve personally had; I recommend this dish. Two thumbs up!

Very good food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I frequent the Dipsea for all three. The location is very nice – especially on a sunny days as it’s located right next to where Coyote Creek drains into the bay. Almost every time I’m there with my family or just my son(1st grader) who loves the pancakes and especially the way they scramble their eggs. I usually order the standard breakfast items like French toast or waffles which are consistently good. There’s not much different in the personality of those items meaning they’re straight up typical but good. If you’re looking for something«special», the Dipsea isn’t the place. The lunch items are very good from the turkey sandwich to the BLT. Good quality, just no «twist» on the implementation but that doesn’t matter. It’s a solid breakfast and brunch place. They’re are plenty of tables and it’s quite large inside + there’s a considerable amount of outside tables too. If you’re driving in from the city, you’re wait to get seated is maybe a few minutes if not right away — something that is always a pleasant surprise(if you live in the city these days). The only real downside? The parking. That can be a challenge as the parking lot is clearly limited in space compared to the amount of people they can serve. Often, I see people running across Shoreline(after they’ve parked across the street) which takes courage and NOT something to do with kids in tow. Overall, a great place to make a weekend habit of if you’re local and a great stop on your way to the beach(if you’re from the city).
