Silly me got excited over a free ticket to this«event». Duh, it’s a beer garden. Almost all such place let you in free. Silly me also got excited over the free tasting. They give you an ounce or two of the draft to try without much info. Any good beer place would let you sample their draft in a more generous portion. I went during happy hours so at least it’s only $ 4 each, I can’t imagine coming in at night and paying $ 8 for a plastic cup of beer. Granted it’s nice beer they are pouring, but hey this is Wynwood and there are tons of places serving nice beer in style-appropriate glassware. Wait, there is art. There are lovely murals all around, and you can watch artists at work. Yes, I like that, but then again, hey this is Wynwood, this is Art Basel, and you see plenty of art just walking around.

Been there everyday and enjoy the great beer selections, very happy happy hour…$ 5 craft beer!!! Beer tasting is fun and informative… saw a live band, played a few games and everyday have seen different artists work o their pieces… Walls are filled with color and designes. Yesterday they had snow!!! Snow in Florida!!! Awesome spot…

it was«meh». Not a lot of art, the beer was good, but not exciting. It was early evening Sunday, so maybe its better other days but not this day.

The space is lovely. When we walked in, there was an artist spray painting a wall. There were tables & chairs made from palettes, which I thought were very cool(and comfy). At night, the string lights & dj made for a warm atmosphere. There was an eclectic mix of people here, so I think everyone felt at home. I saw artist types, kids(playing bocci. yes, they have a bocci area), older folks, etc. I would come back to enjoy a drink & the vibe, but I do have a couple of hesitations. One is that they serve $ 12 – 13 drinks in a plastic cup. Their $ 8 craft beers also deserve a real glass. I know we are outside, but for the price/quality, I just don’t think it’s the same in plastic.sorry. My other gripe was that I was planning on having small bites there. There was a table set up with chips & salsa and other unappetizing-looking things for $ 8. I don’t know that they always have the same food there, but maybe it would help to have a better presentation or even some lighting. maybe it just didn’t look appetizing to me because I couldn’t see the food very well since it was dark.

Basel is a crazy time for Miami. And if you are from around here, it’s even crazier. It’s really easy to get lost in the shuffle and be overwhelmed with things to do(and some you’d rather not). It’s nice to see a place like Smashed Canvas pop up amongst the madness of Basel in Miami. It’s a great place to get a bite and a few drinks while checking out the murals. Also plenty of good tunes from DJs and live acts alike. And best of all it’s location is central to everything. Really easy to pop in and out while you are checking out everything else going on in the area. Good stuff!

Best beer garden Art Basel has ever seen. If you are visiting from out of town come get a nice cold beer and check out the coolest artwork Wynwood has seen.
