What a wonderful little out of the way place! We were doing the Superstition Mountain Loop, & happened upon Guayo’s. The chips are to die for and the tamales & chili rellenos are fabulous. The wait staff was friendly & efficient, and the food was served very quickly.

I forgot to take photos! We were so hungry and our food was fantastic! We try to visit this place every time we’re in the area. The service was great! Salsa is flavorful and we were actually given two more helpings! Give it a try… you won’t be sorry.

Frozen Margarita, chips n salsa are good. I had a chicken taco, rice & beans. Thought that would be a slam dunk. Not so :(Very bland shredded chicken, even rice tasted not so good. Rice is something Mexican restaurants rarely go wrong. Beans had a strong meaty flavor. Felt a bit nauseous. My husband had a chicken taco salad bowl. He liked the bowl :) Crispy. He is not much of a spice lover, but even he did not like the chicken. Overall, it was OK.

Saw this place on Unilocal on our way through town. Super fast and friendly service. Just ask what they recommend and you won’t be disappointed. Both the hot and mild salsa is delicious. The mild has oregano which always makes me happy since so few places add it. And we loved the mix of corn and flour tortilla chips!

Great little Mexican food restaurant, off the main drag, delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine! Gomer and I stopped in for a late lunch! We both tried the combination numero 4! The service is outstanding and the food fresh and tasty! There are many options when it comes to Mexican food in the Globe — Miami area but give this joint a try, we think ya’ all will be glad you did! Tell Ant Bee Goober says Hey!

Food was tasty, atmosphere was friendly and the service was polite and timely. Some small local restaurants might not treat out of town guests warmly, not here. It felt like you belonged and the service was quick! I enjoyed my visit and would return, worth the drive!

My wife and I left Scottsdale to go to Tucson. We did not want to drive I-10 so we took the loop through the Tonto National Forest. When I travel the southwest I look for«real» mexican food. It is difficult to find good versions. Found this place on Unilocal. It is great. We had Releno’s and enchiladas. I think Chilli Rejeno’s are the true test of Mexican restaurants. Good ones are awesome, bad ones are awful. These are great. They don’t list them as «chilli Relenos» but simple«Relenos». The Enchiladas don’t offer chicken, cheese, or beef they are simply enchiladas and come in the cheese version. There may be equally good places all over AZ but this one is proven good. People ride all over AZ to see cacti and less interesting things than a really good restaurant. I would drive here again and certainly will.

Three girls from Mesa… today was our first visit here and it will not be our last. The food was excellent. The green chili was the bomb. The salsa is to die for. That’s our get away when we head east. Very clean restaurant and everybody knows everybody. Thank you for an awesome meal. Very friendly staff…

Been eating here for years when we drive through town, this place is the real deal. Only draw back is parking and service can be slow if the place is packed… and it is usually packed.

Ventured out for a drive into the Globe & Miami area for the day. What a neat area! We walked around downtown and checked in with the historic tour. Afterwards, we were ready for lunch and El Rey was recommended. I enjoy trying different styles of Mexican food so I was ready for El Rey. We started off with chips and salsa provided for all guests. The salsa was served in mini carafes and had a good flavor. The chips were mixed: half were corn the other half were flour. It was interesting, but the chips were stale. We ordered a quesadilla with green chile as a starter along with a margarita and a Dos XX. What we got was an open-face cheese crisp with chile verde slumped on top. I’ll admit that as a non-meat-eater I should have asked if it was chile-verde or green-chiles, so partly my fault. But, my travel partner for the day, who does eat meat, was not pleased either. Cheese crisp ended up as a soggy tortilla. For our main course we ordered cheese enchiladas with rice, beans, and a dollop of sour cream and the huevos rancheros with rice and beans. It is really hard to make bad Mexican food, but somehow El Rey managed. The food was presented well, but was bland. The red sauce was thick and colorful, but flavorless. The rice and salsa were tasty though. And, the margarita on the rocks was decent. The waitress was not outstanding, but was polite and efficient. I may go back someday to give it a second chance, but I would not recommend the place for now.

Best Mexican food in town. I think it’s the only Mexican food in town but it’s still good.

Delicious iced tea. The flour tortilla chips were a fun surprise. no butter on the chips that globe is notorious for. Our food came out so fast and hot I suspect a small nuclear reactor. The enchilada sauce was ok. Not as much love as I am accustomed to. The taco was really delicious. The shredded meat was some of the tastier. The relleno was hot as as the surface of the sun. The cheese stayed melted to the last delicious morsel. It could have used a little green sauce but it was really tasty. The burro on the partners plate looked to be the highlight. The beans were perfect and the chunkies of meat were tender and flavorful. Overall worth the trip. It was good food. I will be back.

I remember this place when it was La Paloma. My family would come here often and split a cheese crisp. Then I would have a chili relleno or a green chili burro. Loved the food.

This place was awesome. Took the recommendations on the green chili and I was not disappointed. The cheese crisp was delicious. True, down home Mexican like your grandma used to make. Their refried beans were perfect, and the beef taco was really tasty. A clean place with good service — I highly recommend.
