I was actually really excited to try this place. I’d heard great things about it from co-workers and acquaintances in the area, and I was really excited when I was finally able to make it there. Upon walking in, the restaurant was mostly empty, but I wasn’t really acknowledged by the waitstaff. This initial interaction(or lack thereof) set the template for the rest of the«service» on display for the duration of the meal. (A fellow reviewer described the service as ‘surly’, which is something of an understatement.) The food here is actually fairly solid. It’s not markedly better than the majority of Globe’s Mexican food offerings(of which there are so very many), but it’s definitely far more expensive. In addition, the restaurant will also charge you an extra $ 2.00 for a small saucer of mediocre«hot» salsa, while Chalo’s, J&R’s or Los Roberto’s(all local places with superior salsa) do not. In short, eat somewhere else. Globe has plenty of options when it comes to bad service and Mexican food, so don’t pay extra for these experiences by patronizing this place.

I ate there 60 years ago and the food was so good that I can’t get it out of my mind. I especially loved the cheese enchiladas. I have been to to Globe several times since and wanted to eat there, but those times were on Mondays and they were closed. I live in Phoenix so I don’t get up there very often. I plan to make a special trip on a day they are open just to eat there.

Yes, the service is definitely inconsistent, and it’s a divey place. But hey, it’s Globe, and not the kind of place you’re gonna see a corporate trainer. When I’m out of town, I want to eat where the locals eat, and this place has that in spades. We had to hustle to grab a table last Sunday evening. BTW, you seat yourself. Our initial server was lousy, but then we lucked out and Desiree took care of us after we had received our drinks, she got the place to 4 stars instead of the 3 the place earned solely on the food. Apparently it’s been around forever, and the food is why. Everything tastes like Abuela just cooked it up, fresh and hot. Bean burro was tasty, albeit a little on the small side. Wife and I also shared the Albondigas soup, just a dash of salt to appease our palate and it was perfection in a bowl. Rice in the meatballs was a new one on me, but it works! Wife said the sour cream enchilada was decent, and I immensely enjoyed a machaca taco. Kids split a chicken quesadilla that was decent, but nothing memorable. Only food item that was truly weak was the salsa that comes with the chips. Even my wife(she can’t stand spicy anything) thought it was incredibly mild and watery. We also got a good laugh out of the serving cart and the dreaded bottom shelf, gave me flashbacks to the original Matta’s in Mesa. We’ll go back with low expectations on service but leave with full stomachs and a smile.

Pretty good food. Kind of a dive atmosphere but that is all I would expect in Globe, AZ. The green chile is really good. And home made chips. I’d come back.

The cook/manager/owner tells us she isn’t «a mindreader» when they screw up our order! Really?!? Who does this? Even if we hadn’t explicitly told the waitress(we did) that we didn’t want cheese on our tacos, is that the way you handle customer service? But let’s back up and go over the full experience. Stopped on the way through Globe after a road trip. Find this place. Get seated at a booth where there is a giant puddle of water on the table(gross) and the seat vinyl is worn out so we’re basically sitting on a butt-sized shape of whatever that fabric is under the torn vinyl. They bring out some poor quality(not fresh or restaurant quality at all) chips and salsa in a squeeze bottle. I pass, and I usually love chips and salsa. Even my kids don’t enjoy them. When we order, we ask the waitress a few questions. Like, what kind of meat is available on the tacos(since there is no sign of choices on the menu), and is it spicy. She tells us she doesn’t know if the«machaca» beef option is spicy(hmm — that’s helpful). And she describes that the beef option isn’t the«usual beef taco but more like a smashed patty.» That should have been enough to make us run. Alas, we were hungry. So we order one of each taco — ask what is on them and specify no onions, tomatoes or cheese. We tell her we want them«plain.»(I know, we’re strange.) We also order some guacamole for the chips. After some time(reasonable amount), the tacos come and we immediately notice that there is melted cheese all over the taco shells. We tell the waitress that we can’t eat cheese and she looks confused. She takes them back to the kitchen. A few minutes go by and a woman(cook/manager/owner) comes to our table in a semi-huff. Asks if we are the ones that sent back the tacos. We say yes. That’s when she says, «I’m not a mind-reader.» I think it took me a minute to comprehend the situation, then we told her we ordered no cheese with the waitress. We also tell her we ordered the tacos«plain.» She then backs down, apologizes, and goes back to the kitchen.(I’d really like to know what else she planned on saying or doing if we accepted the fault here. Based on her attitude, it would have been that much more interesting, I’m sure.) After that, we did get our no-cheese tacos finally, but with onions and lettuce. Not exactly«plain.» And we had to ask for that guacamole again. Our original waitress never returned to our table, so getting a check and paying, was fun(needed to find someone else to help). About the food itself? Gross. The chicken was ok, though room temperature. The machaca beef was ok too(not spicy). But that regular beef taco — «smashed patty» thing — so disgusting. I have no idea how this place is still in business. If I hadn’t had kids in tow, I’m sure I would have walked out in response to the mindreader encounter. And I never do that.

A friend referred us to this place. It was good. Ordered a taco, enchiladas and a burro enchilada style. Food was hot and came out quickly. Chips were different which I liked and sauce was perfect I liked how everyone worked as a team. You sat yourself, some came and took your order but someone different is feeling your drinks and bringing out food. It’s a family business everyone helping out each other. Will be back. Prices were really good, almost to good.

This place was one of my favorites to visit on late evenings after the football games when I was a student at Globe High School. We were there most recently for the GHS Centennial Celebration and I was most delighted that the restaurant was still active and turning out food very much as I remembered it from decades ago. A couple of their local competitors for Mexican cuisine had closed down, and unfortunately had been replaced with newer, mediocre versions. So that makes La Casita your best bet in Globe right now in my view. They’re open late, have excellent home-made Mexican dishes and ice cold beer. Prices are low and service is good. What’s not to like?

Zero Stars would be a better choice! I don’t know what they think salsa is, but watered down tomato sauce with no flavor definitely is not. So, we asked for hot sauce, figuring we could mix some with this so called colored water and give it some flavor… Oh, no! Horrible. The food was average, I ordered a regular burro enchilada style and a shredded beef taco. The taco was good. Chips n salsa was by far the worst I’ve ever had. Then, when the waitress came to the table, asked if we wanted to take the hot sauce home, I told her no, we didn’t like either one. She walked away with no word spoken. We got up to pay, and they charged us for that Nasty hot sauce. Never again… I’ll stick to Burger House! Plus, I had the worst stomach ache the rest of the day and night. Poor service.

It’s been over 30 years since I was here, but I still have great memories of this place. When I was a teenager, we often stopped here late in the evening for something good to eat. I don’t recall what I ate, but I remember that the burros were delicious. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly and that made the place just the right place to go for food and a warm atmosphere. When I return to Globe-Miami, I will be sure to drop by here.

Stumbled across this place on a random trip to Globe from Phoenix. It looked a little scary from the outside but the inside was not scary at all. Relatively small place but well-lit, tons of families eating here and cool wall art. I disagree with the other reviews — our service was awesome. Our server was really pleasant and polite, brought more chips without us asking and checked on us regularly. Had the chicken chimichanga, and it’s what you’d expect a deep fried chicken roll to taste like. I’d come back for the experience of a hole-in-the wall alone.

Two Words: SERVICESUCKS! Here’s my story… My Wife and I decide on a road trip to Globe for the day and try some Mexican food as people from«Globe» consistently say it’s the rave. So, when we get there I pull out my cell and Unilocal app then look for some good reviews. This place called La Casita Café looks promising. It’s about 2 pm when we walk in, about half the place is filled, maybe about 5 employees in the front working. So. no one comes up and says anything, we’re just standing there looking like buffoons for about 3 minutes. I tell my Wife let’s just find a table and just sit down and someone has to come. We sit and sit… for about 4 more minutes. I say I’m going to the bathroom to my Wife and I’m sure someone will come then.(right). and just like I said they come to our table when I was away. ha-ha We order our food. As we’re sitting there chatting I notice they bring out the customers dinner on this plastic rolling 3 level small cart. What’s interesting to me about this method of delivering food on it, is that the bottom level is about 10 inches off the ground. The floors are dirty, dusty. Who would like hair and grit in their guacamole today?!! Anyone? ha-ha… sick. Our food comes out relatively quick(great). But the waitress says we’ve ran out of forks and they’re being washed.(I’m thinking WTF, this is a first). I tell the lady uhm okay. Waitress says they’ll be out soon and I’ll get them to your table. So… my wife eats her beef taco and I pick at my food with the tortilla chips. About 5 minutes goes by, by wife goes over and asks about the forks or even plastic forks. They’re still not ready! hahaha.(I’m thinking of eating my food with a damn spoon by now or butter knife) Another 2 minutes go by and I ask another lady she leaves and doesn’t come back. So out waitress shows up and I gripe, she says… «OH I’m so sorry I’ll get those for you and comes back with them». This place is a joke! For lunch wife gets the beef taco, cheese enchilada and beef tamale. I get the red chili beef burrito enchilada style with rice and beans. I tried some of my wife’s food and for the most part we both agreed it was regular. We could get this pretty much anywhere. I almost gave this place 2 stars because the food was average at best, but nah. Eek Methinks not. I’m not coming back here. Oh and…(circus continues) As we’re leaving the waitress catches us outside the door and says we charged you the table. This is a true. what a fiasco. AND… WEDIDN“T GETTHEBOTTOMRUNGONTHECART!!! Yay. Wife and I high fived each other… The End.

Good place to eat ‘close to Mexican’ food. Employees are polite, food is great, walls have a great art painted in them. A little expensive but food is worth it. I had delicious cheese enchilada and a lot if tortilla chips(they are free).

If I could opt to give this place no stars then I would. The service was horrible. Stood inside the door for close to five minutes. None of the employees I made eye contact with cared to greet my party. Once the four of us decided to seat ourselves, an employee placed two menus on our table and walked away. During this time, two additional parties entered. They were both greeted and seated immediately. I then noticed they were being served chips and salsa. We then got up and left. We drove down the street to Irene’s which is another Mexican restaurant.

I love this place. Globe/Miami has some great Mexican food and this is one of my favorite places for it. The reason I am only giving it 4 stars and not 5 is the service. Like most places around here it is hit or miss. There have been times I ate there and no one else was eating. It took forever to get refills on drinks. Other times it was packed and my soda/beer never got empty. There was no rhyme or reason to it. Oh well, I still enjoy this place and will always stop in when I’m on that side of town.

I have been going to La Casita my entire life. It is easily my favorite Mexican food restaurant in town, and everyone knows Globe’s Mexican food is seriously good. Last time I was there, a friend and I had a good meal and drink each, and the bill was barely $ 10. I usually get a chili relleno, enchilada, bean burro, or some combination thereof, which is delicious every time! A bit of advice: don’t sit at either of the two ooths facing the windows, the servers can’t see you and won’t notice if you need something. They are perfectly attentive to all the other tables and booths! Whenever I’m in Globe, I make the trip worth it with a stop by La Casita. If I don’t have time to stay long I get several burros to take home with me. I highly recommend the stop.
