I have been to several different restaurants in this location — Pizzeria Uno and Sergio’s Restaurant in addition to Casavana. Enjoyed breakfast at Casavana with a large family group. Typical Cuban breakfast and some extras. Will likely return.

I was staying in Kendall FL and wanted to try some Cuban food. We have a very good Cuban place that we frequent in Queens NY(Rincon Criollo) and wanted to try something new. After reading the reviews on Unilocal my wife and I decided to try Casavana. I’m happy we did. Keep in mind that this area outside Miami has a large Cuban population and the staff in Casavana speaks very little English but don’t let this stop you. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The waiter brought us some waters and menus. After surveying the menu I decided to get an appetizer for the table, Combo Criollo, two ham croquettes, one Cuban tamal and pork chunks. Wow were they good. For my main course I ordered the Baby Churrasco, juicy, tender charbroiled skirt steak served with chimichurri sauce. It came with a side of Congri(Cuban Rice and Black Beans) and sweet plantains«maduros». The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very yummy. My wife had the Medio Pollo a la Plancha, a boneless half chicken grilled with onion & garlic sauce. My wife really enjoyed it. For desert we shared a flan. If I lived in the area I would make this my go to Cuban restaurant. If you live in the area you should make it yours.

Love this place food is always amazing. We eat here a couple times a month and it’s always on point. The service is mostly great with an occasional mediocre one but this place is far better than La Carreta.

If you place an order for delivery make sure to check that your order is complete and accurate before signing the bill. I called to mention the incomplete order and Silvia, their phone server, replies«we can’t guarantee a time for the rest of your order to get to you, take out left and they need to finish thier delivery’s first.» I ask to speak with the manager, Alfonso, the manager on duty tells Silvia to relay his message to me. Customer service is completely unprofessional and inconsiderate to the restaurants patrons.

Good Cuban food, great prices. The outside window is quick for a snack on the go. The coffee is great. Large servings and fair prices. Service is also good. Will be back soon for more. Breakfast is also very tasty and fair priced.

Came here for breakfast with my bf this morning. Service was quick, waitress was sweet and attentive, food was a good portion and tasty! For $ 7, I had scrambled eggs with ham, toast and café con leche. A big pro is that it serves your typical Cuban breakfast at the same affordable price but the restaurant itself is a lot cleaner than other Cuban spots I’ve been to in the past. Overall 2 thumbs up!

This our Cuban Restaurant we usually go to. We’ve never had a bad experience. Their chicken noodle soup is perfect when you’re feeling under the weather. I usually love to get the oxtail or the masitas de puerco. They never disappoint. Last time we went, we had breakfast. This was a 3 for me. It’s just ok, we don’t crave it. But if you worked all day and are too tired to cook this is a great option.

Stopped by last night for a bite as we had ordered pizza for the kids but didn’t feel like having that. The restaurant was not packed at all. We were seated right away. We requested a booth; however, the seat was dirty so we asked the waitress if she could please clean it. The staff was friendly and attentive which I love. The food amazing as always. I started off with a batido de trigo(wheat milkshake), my husband ordered a café con leche, I had to have their croquetas de jamon as they are the best in Miami in my opinion. For our main entrees we ordered the lechon vaca Frita and the chicken vaca Frita. Both were delicious! So I have to say that our visit was perfect. No waiting to be seated, great service and great food. What else can you ask for.

Note: My review is based on take-out. I remember when Casavana use to be Sergio’s way back forever ago. Years have gone by and I still frequent this location once in a blue moon. When calling for take-out the young lady who answers is always quick and polite. The estimated time for pick up always holds true, and upon pick up the staff is incredibly friendly. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 mins for any pick up, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how busy the window can get. I’ve ordered chicken soup, bistec sandwiches and some empanadas. All items are okay, nothing has particularly blown me away. Overall, three stars seems fair for good service and mediocre food.

This used to be a Sergio’s way back in the day, which was great. Now that it’s been a Casavana for a couple of years, they’ve proven to be good as well. It’s not the best Cuban food around(I give that honor to La Viña de Aragon in Hoaleah), but it’s pretty good. My gripe with this place is the pricing. If it were a little cheaper it would be great. But it’s not. I do really like their vaca frita, boliche, and picadillo. Not bad. I would give it a 3.5 if it were possible.

I arrived about 10AM on a Saturday morning. I came with my girlfriend and we were seated immediately. The host was friendly and greeted us with a smile on her face. The atmosphere was immediately pleasant and welcome. The waitress attended us and took our after a few minutes after we were seated. The food took no more than 10 – 12 minutes to come out. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my girlfriend had the eggs and ham. Everything was delicious & no foreign objects in our meals. The tables were clean and the food on the plate was presentable. Overall the service was great, the staff was friendly, and no complaint about the food. If you like Cuban style food you won’t complain coming here. I recommend this place to others.

Just went to go have breakfast with my little man as I was waiting for our dentist appointment that was right next door. We got to sit inside in a booth with no wait at all. My son decided to order some orange juice and a Cuban sandwich and he did not like the orange so much cause he thought it was a little watery. He did like the sandwich that had scrambled eggs and bacon but left half of it cause it was to big. I enjoyed the sunny side up eggs that were perfectly done with Cuban toast and a café Con Leche soooo yummy. We finished in 30 minutes and our waitress was very friendly and asked if we needed anything else and we asked for our check the total was $ 17.25 with tax. I will definitely come back again for breakfast. They also have sitting outside and have a small window in the front were you can order to go or just enjoy a coffee outside.

The entire restaurant seems to be filled with local Cubans and our server only spoke Spanish, so it’s safe to say this restaurant is pretty authentic if you’re looking for some good local Cuban cuisine. I wasn’t a huge fan of the buttered toast they bring out in the beginning. The Vaca Frita and seafood special(like a paella) were my favorite dishes here, I would definitely order them again. I’ve had better Cuban sandwiches elsewhere. The pork chunks were pretty good, just a tad on the drier side. The portions are quite large and you will probably have leftovers. The prices are very reasonable too.

I’ve been coming to Casavana ever since they opened. It’s a great spot for when you are in the mood for good authentic Cuban food. Today I specifically came for the Vaca Frita sandwich as it was recommended to me by my coworker. I have to say, I am not disappointed. The sandwich is big enough to share between two people. It comes with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and their famous cilantro sauce. The Vaca Frita was nice and tender and they were generous with the amount of meat, so much, that you can actually taste it in every bite. I really recommend you try it one day. They offer a wide variety of cuban cuisine and the portions are always very generous. All the food is reasonably priced. It is also a great place to come for breakfast. They always provide very fast and friendly service. I definetly recommend this establishment.

Casavana is one of several family restaurant chains in the Miami area. It’s actually a spin off from Sergio’s, but that’s a whole other story. On this particular occasion I stopped by their ventanita for a colada and empanada. And YUM and OMG to both! The colada was strong, dark, sweet and satisfying. My liquid lover… coffee. LOL! Empanada was just the right amount of warmth, seasoning and beef. They don’t skimp on the meat here yes!!!

Ok. My love affair with Casavana is officially over. I was at home, sick. Actually, I was home being lazy, but sick sounds more dramatic. We had been out of town for almost a month and was craving a good olé Cuban sandwich. So my husband brought me a Media Noche from Casavana. The first thing that I noticed is that it had shrunk. Not only in length but in «height» as well. First of all, it barely had any cheese and only a sliver of pork. It had a decent amount of ham though. Now, this is where thy pissed me off. The sandwich contained no less than 12 pickle slices and they were SWIMMING in some type of BROWN mustard! Classic Cuban? I think not. I wanted a Media Noche. Not a ham & pickle sandwich. If you’re going to bill yourself as Cuban Cuisine, stick to it. Don’t go all pseudo-Cuban. BTW, I rarely rate a place 1* but when I have watched one of my favorite places deteriorate before my eyes, it’s only fitting.

We had a Cuban sandwich craving. When I say we, I meant my hubs. So we walk to Casavana because it’s so close and supposedly good. We get seated and 15 min later, NOSERVICE. Not a hello or a hey I’ll be there in a minute. Nothing. There was servers everywhere but no service. So we walked out. As we are leaving, the host tells us «thanks-for-coming-have-a-nice-night» in a hurried and non meaningful way. My hubs is pissed because he just seated us 15 min ago and doesn’t even realized we are WALKING out. So we are leaving and see a «food to go» window next door so he orders something to go. I would discouraged him if not for his damn craving. I don’t want to give this place any of my money. He bites into his $ 8.00 sandwich and he says its meh. He could have gotten this in Phoenix. Thanks for nothing. Next time we’ll try a REAL authentic Cuban restaurant.

Ended up at Casavana for dinner after searching for a local cuban place on my Unilocal app. My Uncle was staying at the hotel adjacent to the restaurant and was craving his once a year cuban feast. We arrived at about 6pm and the restaurant was pretty full. Which tells me the food must be good. We got seated immediately and water was already poured in our glasses. The bread was super buttery and crunchy, just how I like it. A star just for the butter dripping down my chin when I took a bite. The sangria was ok. Nothing extraordinary. Just ok. I’ve had better. The food was really really good. Between all of us we ordered the palomilla, pollo a la plancha, breaded steak, churrasco and the special which was the yellow rice with seafood. All were delicious. The only reason a gave a 4 vs 5 star is because the breading on the steak was disproportional. I really dislike when you cut the steak and the breading just falls right off leaving you with a plate of steak and pieces of breading. That’s a no no. Other than that everything was great.
