Just spent a weekend in Miami and had such a good time here that I had to go back twice. Great beer! Great wine! Great staff. Very friendly and attentive and the music was great.

I found The Room on Unilocal and it seemed like a cool place to go and escape the craziness of Ocean Drive for awhile. It was probably about 1am when we headed over. The atmosphere is very dark and intimate inside. We grabbed a cozy corner table and proceeded to flip through the extensive beer and wine list. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the beer selection. I started with the strawberry and vanilla bean sake which was delicious and I liked that I could really taste the vanilla in it. I also had a good glass of riesling. They have a nice selection of games and if it wasn’t so late I probably would have played a round or two of connect four or battleship.

It’s a dark cave-like dive bar & lounge. Reminds me of Minneapolis style dives, so weird to find it in a place like Miami South Beach, doesn’t seem to match the local style. I don’t really remember if they played any music there, it seemed kind of quiet. It was also quite empty for a Saturday night around 11pm. There were so many beers listed on their menu –it was hard to choose. We went with the bartender recommendations. He chose local beers for us to try. They were OK. Nothing spectacular. If I weren’t so sleepy, I would have loved to try more strange beers there, but this will have to happen next time. It’s not the most lively place, but it’s a nice place for a quiet time if you want to hideaway & have some good beer.

We like this place but the personnel is terrible! Ordered a bottle of red wine(the most expensive they had on the menu) and the wine was actually not good and spoiled. We said its ok, that we will pay for it no problem and ordered another bottle. At the same time we asked the bartender to try the spoiled one just so he sees as well, but he refused and from then on kept on ignoring us and was rude!!! Never again

If this is what going to your room means then Mom you know where to find me. The room is a treasure box. Walking past it you cant help but want to go inside. Dark with only the lights from the candles illuminating the space. You look in and immediately feel an urge of curiosity, I told my hubby we have to go in. I’m so glad that we did, the place smelled so intoxicating. The manager/bartender had the vibes going for sure. Whatever scent he was burning made the place feel sexy and inviting. Juan the wonderful manager greeted us right away, he explained the menu and in no time I knew exactly what I wanted. It was a strawberry and vanilla sake cocktail. It was sweet yet refreshing. Juan takes care to measure out all the ingredients perfectly. I also tried the Blueberry sake cocktail which was a bit sweeter but no less delicious. I ended my night drinking a Crispin probably one of my favorite ciders. That want the best part of my night, I actually made a new acquaintance and neighbor. Juan will be my neighbor once I move down there at the end of the month. He’s such a great guy, personable and attentive to his guest. I watched him make sure everyone was enjoying their evening. I absolutely can not wait to get to Miami, I already have my local spot. If you get the chance to visit«below 5th» check out the inside of my room * wink wink’ just kidding but on a serious note check out The Room, there open until 5:00 am.

I LOVED this place! So cozy intimate great music and the mgr/my bartender was the bomb! I only wish they had a happy hour that serves the wine drinkers not just beer drinkers(which I do not drink) and that they opened earlier than 7pm. I would spend almost every happy hour here in that case! Good wine selection but EXCELLENT beer selection Loved it!

We came here a weeknight around 8. It is just a small dark room. The music played is smooth, like in 50’s/60’s soul. We were the only guests for an hour. Friendly bartender. They have a decent selection of craft beer, mostly bottles but a few good on tap too. They are all around $ 8 – 10. The drafts are sold in 40cls but ask nicely and you can try a sip before buying. I definitely recommend it if you in for better ales and not much into plain lagers. But, I don’t know — the selection wasn’t exciting. I can’t put my finger on it. They accept AMEX.

This place is a joke compared to how it used to be: BEFORE the selection of beers was extensive and delicious and a fair price, the bartenders were friendly remembering our names and giving awesome service, the manager was the coolest porfessional guy. NOW: the place smells, the menu has shrunk and they charge significantly more. And the bartender Stacy is the worst bartender I have ever been served by. I used to work in the industry so I know how to do her job and she needs some training not only in simple bartending techniques but in basic polite human interaction. Since the ownership changed last summer the past year I have become more and more unimpressed with this place and this bartender Stacy. Last night was the last straw: Be aware when you pay with cash, try to use credit card !!! Last night I paid cash upfront for my beers and when I was leaving I was accused of not paying. Thankfully my friends and neighboring patrons stated they all saw me pay so she gave up her harrassment of me. I will never go back and I will make sure I spread the word about how the quality of this place went from top notch to one of the worst places in Miami.

We paid $ 20 for 2 beers. I’ll let that sink in. The place has a nice ambience, but the music was a little loud for how empty it was. Our bartender appeared to be wasted, which was also a little off putting. The variety was ok, but nothing compared to what Abraxus *was*. I’d say, swing by if you’re in the area, but I don’t think The Room is worth making a trip for. Now that Abraxas is closed, Lou’s beer garden will get my business over The Room.

This is a cool place, but not temperature cool inside. Guys, you you might want to wear a tshirt if you come here. Great selection of beer and wine. Reminds me of a dungeon or dark cave where you can’t see much, if you get stuck with an ugly date this is the place to go, you’ll get drunk on good beer and you she’ll look great.

I was there a couple of hours ago, a paid my tab in cash but the bartender already had run my credit card without my knowledge. Personally I don’t like that, I’m not coming back but the worst is that I like the place.-

I have been going to this bar for 8 years, and from the time it opened up until the time it recently closed it was a 5 star bar. Great beer, great music, cool staff. The lighting and ambience was phenomenal. I have visited twice since they re-opened and it has gone so far down. It has lost every ounce of charm. Any improvements that they attempted to make have gone terribly wrong in my opinion, it is now just a very sub par bar with insanely high beer prices(Great White beer used to be $ 6 now it is $ 11). Most of the beers are between $ 9 and $ 14. So sad. The best days of this bar are far behind them. Find a new spot.

If you like $ 15 beers, this is the place for you! It masquerades as a craft beer bar, but really all it is an over-priced usual-suspect«craft beer» spot. No passion.

Love this spot, but they’ve had a «Closed for renovations, be back soon» sign for almost three months now. There’s also absolutely no work being done on the inside during this time period(I walk by there at least 2 – 3 times a week). In addition, the owner has not visited the location in at least two or three years(I tried to get in contact with him; various people in the industry have not seen him; etc). Unfortunately, I think this place is now permanently closed. It’s common courtesy to give your customers a timetable for renovations, not an 8 ½×11″ piece of printer paper that says«soon» which you leave up for months.

The Room is a breath of fresh air from the clubs that surround it. Great beer and a great atmosphere. Bartenders are always laid back. The name is true, it’s simply a small room, so it’s very cozy and probably not good for large groups. Great for couples or small groups of friends looking to have a couple beers and not get too crazy. Seating is very limited so plan on standing. No liquor and every time I’ve been the A/C hasn’t been on, so keep that in mind if you’re planning an outing. Prices are normal for the beach and worth it cause it’s so different.

My friends and I have been regulars of the Room for about 4 years now, dropping our«regular» visits to once every ~6 months due to how popular the place has gotten now. Don’t get me wrong, the crowd here has never been a bad one: I’ve never encountered any under-aged kids or high school tweens hanging out, but it does make it difficult to enjoy when you have to stand outside of the establishment with your drink because there aren’t any open tables, chairs, or even standing-space. Now, when they called this place the Room, they really weren’t kidding. It is most definitely one room, perhaps the size of your average master bedroom, and it is pitch blacker. I recommend bringing your own candles if you aren’t fond of having people you can’t see speak or sit with you. This also makes for a very startled crowd every time somebody decides to snap a picture with flash or take out their cellphone with the brightness all the way up. Sorry guys, this is not a good selfie spot. Every time I have visited, the Room has provided me with good music(ranging from the Strokes to the Donnie Darko soundtrack– literally!) and good drinks. In fact, I discovered my favorite beer at this place! Brooklyn Summer Ale(if you want to drink flowers, I definitely recommend it). Their beer list changes frequently, which will either leave you disappointed that they won’t carry your favorite beer for a few months, or excited to try new things. Each beer costs about $ 7+, leaving you with little variety if you wanted a cheaper drink. It is, however, a much more intimate setting than, say, World of Beer where you can snag a bottle for $ 3 on ladies night or $ 5 on the regular. This place is so intimate, in fact, I wouldn’t even recommend coming here on a first date or with friends you are not that close to. This spot is not by any means a party spot. It is a dark, sit-down and talk, cozy little bar with a candle per table for lighting. It’s not a spot to dance or get rowdy, but rather relax and enjoy each others company– sometimes in silence because it gets too loud to hear over the crowd on friday and saturday nights. Now, for the part where I deduct 2 stars from the gloom room: I visited on a Thursday night with two girlfriends and was harassed by a black-out drunk man for about an hour. He even got loud, verbally violent with us and was still not asked to leave. No employees or management of the Room escorted the man out. In fact, he just kept getting served drinks. I’m afraid that I will think twice before returning to the Room until their staff has better judgement.

The Room is dark and smells like cigarettes. You will try so so hard to wash your long locks from the stench of last night. Not as bad as Purdy but still bad in my opinion. They offer a solid selection of beer/wine, but it’s so loud and so dark I can’t read the label, let alone remember my brew of deliciousness and as I scream across a table(that I stalked someone for, for at least 45 minutes), I can’t even hear my friends conversations. No dancing, no fun; just darkness and smoking. Ok for a pit stop but nothing more.

It’s all about good beers and and good company. Nothing else for me. Prices is normal on the beach and the vibe is simply chill. I like it here. I’ve always have had a good/different time 60% of the time, every time. All I can really suggest for my fellow Unilocal is to come here if your a group of 6 or less or a couple, like on a date. It’s not fancy shamnzy either, but also not a whole on the wall or bum world for cheap beer. It’s chill, good music, good vibe and absolutely no entertainment rather than the drink, your date or friends and your self. I can’t really say much more about the place since it’s just a small bar… so, yeaaa… beerrrrrrr me!

I’ve been here a couple of times and I have to be frank when I say I don’t understand what this place is trying to be. Yes, it’s really just a room. It’s incredibly dark, and cramped, and loud. Now, when I go out I want to do one of two things — dance or socialize. There’s absolutely no way you could dance here, but the music has been so loud when I’ve come here that it’s also made it painfully difficult to have a conversation with anyone. So I’ve mostly kind of ended up shaking my head and smiling at whoever I might be with(hoping that’s the correct response) and feeling entirely disconnected and bored. They do have a really great selection of beer/wine, but unless I’m coming here to drink by myself(no thanks, I’ll do that at home where only my dog judges me), I’m not that interested.

The Room might need to be sent to the corner. I know that South Florida isn’t a bastion of beer culture(yet) but with two other fantastic beer spots within walking distance, one would think The Room would step up its game. One would think. I came here on a steamy Friday night with one of my best drinking partners, eager to sidle up to the bar and see what they had to offer. Perhaps I was here on an off night, but the first THREE beers I asked about were not available. This put me in a pretty sour mood. I’d heard raves about what a choice beer institution The Room was/is. After a description like that, I wouldn’t imagine that they’d be out of so much. The lack of product was compounded by a bartender who wasn’t very knowledgeable about beer. After being out of what I knew I would like, I asked her opinion about finding a suitable beer to replace and try and their stead. I received the facial equivalent of ‘duh’ in return. While not exactly a warm individual, she certainly wasn’t friendly and she wasn’t at all versed in beer. Again, not what I would expect from a place touted as a ‘beer lovers bar.‘ I settled on a decent brew I could have ordered at any one of many burger and brew joints worth their salt and tried to take in the ambiance. What I experienced was loud, cramped quarters, filled with a crowd who — to me – seemed more concerned with«OMG. I can’t believe he tried to hit on you driving in *that* car!!11!1!» than chilling out with a good beer, relaxed environment and low lighting. At least, if my eavesdropping can be believed, that is. And, is it eavesdropping, when said conversation is being screamed in my ear by Drunk Girl™? I should have gone to Abraxas.
