We had some great food at a great location. Try their seafood paella and ¼ chicken. Amazing deal and wonderful flavors!

egh, I was not impressed by Norkies at all I had fish with fried bannanas and salad the fish almost seemed soggy the bananas were amazing and the salad was ok although my boyfirend really enjoyed his meal It might have just been my plate that was not the hottest thing on the menu there Not a good first impression for Peruvian food

This is how it went down… I’m walking down Washington Ave after finding parking after 20 mins of circling Collins, Ocean & Washington…(all of you locals know what I’m talking about) After downing that Red Bull while I was beach bound, I now need a restroom. ASAP. I am approaching a police officer & figure he might know which shop or restaurant will allow me to use their restroom.(I cringe at the thought of using a public restroom ANYWHERE, but the outside public restrooms right off the beach??? *GAG*) He points down the street and tells me: «Norkies might let you use their restroom». I have never heard of this«Norkies». Off I go down the block. I find Norkies and realize that this is a Peruvian restaurant!(Never would have guessed that a place called Norkies would be Peruvian…) Is this serendipitous or what? I am suddenly SOEXCITED! I’ve been DYING for some ceviche! Well after ordering my Ceviche Mixto, I run to the restroom and when I get back to my table I immediately check Unilocal. Whew! Good reviews for the most part. I get my plate and I’m PUMPED! I am so excited! It’s pretty and looks DEELISH! I dig in… Hmm. Awww maaaaaannnn… Disappointment. Kind of bland. I expect more tartness, more flavor! The hot sauce it came with was yummy and gave it some bite, but aside from that, Meh. The toasted corn kernels and the sweet potato wedge(which was served cold also) that were included were yummy. Overall, I was pretty darn sad. It’s SEAFOOD! It should have at least a natural salt flavor. It’s CEVICHE! It should have the lemony taste! What is going on here? Oh well. Lesson learned. The service was quick but once the food was delivered to my table, I was not checked on again. I tried to flag down someone down to get my check and the guy just nods as if I was just saying hello. Um, ok. I see someone up at the register & think«Maybe they don’t bring the check. Maybe I just go up to pay.» I get up, gather my beach bag & walk up to the register. I’m waiting behind the guy that was already at the register while the attendant & the guy who gave me the«What’s up» head nod earlier(while I was trying to get my check) have a conversation… The person ahead of me leaves and the attendant asks me «Oh, did you want your check?» ??? No hun, I’m standing here to stretch my legs. Duh. Well, I pay & I leave. I’m still hungry. I’m disappointed. I want pizza.(Little do I know that I’m in for yet another disappointment, but I digress.) See my review for Pizza Bar. Not coming back here. At least not for Ceviche.

I like it! For some reason, walking by many times, I got the idea that they only served grilled chicken and beef here. But we went last night for dinner and I realized they also had endless delights from the sea! We ordered: –mussles — large, green shells, topped with red onion and tomato, choclo and doused in lemon, on a bed of shredded romaine — AMAZING! –ceviche mixto, which came with choclo AND the crunchy corn, a wedge of sweet potato and topped with red onion, DELICIOUS! We ordered it spicy and it wasn’t overly hot –seafood pasta, which was more of a chow mein-y type preparation, but was chock full of scallops, mussles, octopus, shrimp and… REDONION! They must go through an awful lot of red onion there! it was easily about a pound of pasta on the plate and we took home more than half. The seafood pasta was very, very oily and I probably wouldn’t order it again. Service was wildly friendly! A very pleasant surprise! The waiter kept asking how things were, and despite a significant language barrier, did a good job of answering questions about the menu. HUGE plus on the service. The only irritating thing was that they had the radio on very loudly. The music was fine but the DJ banter in between songs and the commercials at top volume were really annoying. They should invest in satellite radio or something.

Norkies is one of my favorite places to eat in South Beach. The food is good, the prices are good, and the service excellent. I usually order the ½ peruvian-style rotisserie chicken with two sides(fries and salad) for about $ 8.00. While chicken is their specialty, they also serve up Peruvian classics such as lomo saltado, jalea saltado, arroz chaufa, and parihuela, to name a few dishes. Since they are located near a school they do not have a liquor license and cannot sell booze… but they do have Inca Kola and other Peruvian soft drinks to offer. And in similar fashion to the salsa bars in taquerias, Norkies features a similar, free serving station where you can find various aji sauces and pickled onions and veggies to compliment your meal. Norkies is my go to spot for cheap, quality Peruvian food in Miami.

I was surprised this place hadn’t received more reviews! We shared the shrimp chowder and the mixed fried seafood platter among 4 people and were left with a TON of left overs. The chowder was exactly what we needed for the cold weather(ie 70 deg …), and the fried calamari, yuca, shrimp, oysters, and scallops was super addicting with the green aji sauce. An even bigger bonus was what was waiting underneath all that fried goodness previously mentioned– an entire fried fish! It was doused in lemon to cut the grease. Needless to say, there was endless leftovers, and given how stuffed we were, we barely managed to make it to our car several yards from the front of the restuarant. Definitely a great bite for a cheap buck! Ps. Their portions are HUGE. If the server says a dish will serve 2 – 3, it’s actually more 4 – 5 … Loose clothing recommended.

Delicious chicken with not so good fries and black beans. Fries were underdone and the beans were lacking the beans, the cup was almost all bean water, seriously only about one finger of beans in a 4 finger cup. Get a slotted spoon for christs sake. The pickled onions and green sauce made up for the crummy sides.

Why is this place ranked so high? I’ve had rotisserie chicken from lots of places throughout NYC and NJ and have become a bit of a connoisseur; while here in Miami one night, I came here because of these reviews. On tasting, I was sorely disappointed — of 4 Peruvian chicken places I can recall I’ve been to, this is clearly in 4th. I might have chalked it up to a bad night if my girl’s seafood fried rice(on recommendation away from the paella by the waitress) was not poor as well — net net, just two way below average dinner entrees. Only reason not for one star is that the staff was nice. ..

ive been here a couple of times since i moved back to south beach. the thing that i like the most about norkies is that they have a sauce/salsa bar. ive enjoyed the lomo saltado here. nicely done. first time i came here i didnt know this was a table service kinda place, so i walked up to the counter, ordered and the cashier assumed i was taking that order to go which was not the case. i later on noticed there was a sign that said, please wait to be seated but really, in such modest restaurant, such protocol seems a bit out of place to me. another thing thats interesting about this place(and so many others in south beach) is that the take out order already included an 18% gratuity. not the same case when you eat in which i think its odd considering most people seem to tip based on service.

This place is great! I had the ceviche mixto and ¼ pollo a la brasa and a drink. My portion of the bill was less than $ 20. The food was great! Not the best I have had but it was very good, I didn’t leave broke(this I am very happy about), and I am looking forward to visiting this place again when I return to Miami.

If you are in South Beach, this place is a MUST! My boyfriend and I just came back from our 6 day trip and we ate here 3 times! It’s a really nice restaurant for what the price/the style of food. It was also extremely clean and you could tell that it was a new restaurant. A man who appeared to be the owner or manager was really nice and accommodating, he even served us himself(rather than the waitress). The first time we ate there, my boyfriend got the paella and I got the half chicken with yuca and plantains. YUM! The paella was not like the spanish paella in that there was more liquid in it, not as dry and the flavors were different. It was really good though, minus some chewy bits of squid. The peruvian chicken was great, the white meat wasn’t dry at all! I think our total was only a little over $ 20. Cheap! Even better, I used a gift card that I got from work! They have the most extensive menu I’ve ever seen from a peruvian place… stuff I’ve never even heard of! Lots of good stuff to choose from =) We had such a good experience here that we decided to come back two more time for their $ 3.75 special of ¼ chicken with rice and beans. The white rice was sooooooooooooooo goood. I could probably eat just that! It was seasoned really well and the black beans were also equally well seasoned. I’ve eaten a lot of rice and beans in Costa Rica, the country’s national dish, and compared to Norkies, Costa Rica’s gallo pinto is totally bland. Now I know that the cuisines are different but still… a kind of point of reference. But seriously, how could you pass up $ 3.75 Dinner!!! it leaves you very, very full. The people are SUPER nice and it’s obviously a lot was invested in this restaurant. I really hope that they do well in their business and gain more popularity. So if you are in South Beach(or anywhere in Miami), don’t fall into the touristy food traps on Ocean. Go two blocks to Washington Ave and stop by Norkies for your $ 3.75 meal. Seriously! Can’t beat the price, quality and experience. I’m back in Philly and STILL craving this place.

What do I know for food? I eat it, sure, and I can cook it, but I’m not a gourmet guy with gourmet needs.(More on my needs later.) But I was walking past this place in South Beach and my stomach started talking to me. It said: «Mwahrahmwahrahma.» Which is Peruvian for, «Hey, take me in that place and get me some food already.» So I did. They have food which is from Peru but it tastes so fresh. I tried the chicken, which you can have with a green spicy sauce. It’s made from some green spices. The salad bar is great if you like onions and I do so it’s all good. Add some rice and beans, and you got a meal – Peru-style. The staff is friendly enough but I am not sure if we’ll ever become friends friends, ya dig? And the prices are so low you can eat lunch and have money left over for a cool«I Was In Miami Bitch» T-shirt. Which I was but they didn’t have my size. They have two TVs.

I couldn’t wait, COULD-NOT-WAIT to get home and Unilocal about this spot. So delicious! I can’t believe the rotisserie chicken special was only $ 3.75 – where they do that at? Certainly not Los Angeles! I love Peruvian! I can’t wait to get back down to South Beach so I can hit this place up! I don’t understand why this place wasn’t more packed – I guess it doesnt fall within the trendy, beach-side, overpriced frou-frou, spots. I was thorougly satisfied, and I let the server know it. Matter of fact, I took the leftovers on the plane with me, and savored it all over again. The white rice was the best ever, it tasted as if they cooked the rice in the juices of the rotisserie chicken – the waiter confirmed it! SOMUCHFLAVOR!!! The anglocized palates of LA couldn’t handle the notion of chicken-grease, flavored rice – it would be «too fattening», blah blah blah. I could have the rice by itself – yes, it was that good. The service was very welcoming, the waiter was informed and passionate about each dish and gave sincere recommendations on dishes. He even held the door for us as we made our exit – I’m so not used to chivalry *shrug* See you next year Norkies, as soon as I hop off the plane.

No complaints. Cheap, solid Peruvian«fast» food. The Rotisserie chicken plate with rice and beans is less than $ 5!!! You CAN’T beat that in Miami Beach, no way. The Lomo Saltado is also pretty good. If your looking for a cheap lunch when your at the beach, come check at this unassuming spot.
