Being in South Beach. Me & a friend of mine wanted to eat on Ocean Dr. In my past experiences I’ve never been satisfied with any oceanfront restaurants in SoBe, esp for the prices. So I decided to Unilocal!for some places with good reviews a couple blocks away from the beach. I stumbled upon Goyo & boy am I happy I did! Everything they make here is very tasty & freshly cooked/prepared. I ordered the Tallarin Saltado — Pollo & my friend ordered Lomo Saltado. The pollo was very good, moist & full of flavor. The Lomo Saltado… Wow. The meat was very tender, juicy & had my taste buds jumping. Fries cooked perfectly & rice just the right amount of moistness. Very friendly & attentive staff. Highly recommend the limonade as well! I watched the waitress make it fresh at the bar, very refreshing drink.

My experience… The service was good, my waitress very attentive. She brought out cancha, but it was cold and not seasoned with salt. Free I ordered a chichi morada and it wasn’t authentic. It tasted more like a chicha morada syrup mix, sugar and water. $ 3.00 I ordered a ceviche mixto picante(spicey), the fish was not fresh, it tasted more like the mixed seafood bits that come frozen and mixed at the store. This dish cost $ 15.99 I also ordered a lomo saltado, as well it was not authentic at all. The food was not seasoned and the french fries came on the side instead on mixed in with the beef, onions and tomatoes to soak in the juices. The beef was okay. This dish was $ 16.99 Honestly the place is decent but very small, the service was good but the food was not that good. Save your money and go to another Peruvian restaurant.

OMG! When and why did they close? So glad I went there one more time last month, albeit not knowing it would be my last visit! This was my go-to Peruvian restaurant in South Beach for anticuchos, because Chalan does not have them on its menu. Loved their anticuchos and green sauce. I hope they’ve just moved somewhere a few blocks down, and not really closed down shop entirely!

The place would have got 4 stars if not for its cleanliness and slow service… The food was good… the chicken was tender… and juicy so was the beef. But the service was very slow… We could see 2 roaches on the furniture behind us and also on the wall… They need a complete sterilization of the restaurant to keep it clean and insect free… Oh and they also add a 18% tip even if you are just 2 in number…

Was here on vacation. The servers here were incredibly rude. If I asked for more water, they would give me stank face. I never received a smile nor a warm welcome from our waitress. She barely said anything to us, and explained things on the menu to us in a huffy puffy voice as if she didn’t want us there. Then when a group of Peruvians walked in, she greeted them with excitement and cheerfulness. They also messed up my order TWICE. I ordered the pesto spaghetti with rotisserie chicken. The first time they brought out some fried noodle dish(she admitted they messed up before she even put the plate down) and told me they would have to cook my meal again. Then she came out with another dish– the fried green rice dish!!! I was too hungry to complain/let her know that she messed up my order AGAIN so I dealt with it and ate it. There was nothing special about my meal. The rotisserie chicken just tasted like chicken that you can get anywhere. The chicken portion was disappointingly small, but they did give me a lot of rice(the cheap stuff). The only good thing about this place was the sauces– but you can get that at any Peruvian restaurant. I would never come here again, solely because of the rude incompetent staff alone, but also because it was overpriced for what I got. P. S.- the bathrooms are incredibly gross. They may make you lose your appetite, so I would try to hold it.

South beach’s best kept secret … My husband is peruvian and I cook peruvian food on a daily basis. I also have been to Perú and its hard to compare to abuelita’s cooking. This place absolutely nailed it ! Had the causa sampler and, of course, pollo Saltado. The spices were dead on and everything tasted as if I were having it from Lima. Even the chicha morada was good! It tasted extremely authentic and the service was phenomenal! Our server was so knowledgeable and friendly. I felt as if I were eating at a family’s house. The vibe is great and casual but still clean and modern/classy. This was probably the best walk by, unplanned place I’ve been to ! They also have a belly kiosk for anyone who plans on going there a few times… I will def. be back to this place every time I go to south beach — truly a wonderful place for good peruvian food!

This is one of those places that reflect the typical SoBe restaurant. Good Food but Horrible Service. Two tables and we had to wait over 45 minutes to get our food. The food was excellent, we can’t complain about that, but at the end, see in our check the«automatic tip» of 18%(with the option to go up to 30%), after receiving a very slow service makes us really think about coming coming back.

Between a 3 and 3.5. My friend and I strolled in randomly while on vacation. I was excited to have a new experience trying Peruvian food, and I left glad that I did! They had plenty of seats and our waiter told us about some great $ 8.95 lunch specials they were offering. I had the aji de gallina(chicken with a yellow cream sauce, and rice [served in the shape of a donut!]) and she ordered the steak tacu tacu con entrana(steak and onions with rice and a darker sauce). My friend’s food was good, but I think mine was better — hers was a little too saucy. The yellow cream sauce on mine was very flavorful and went great with the rice. Also, it wasn’t spicy, which is fortunate for me, as my mouth has a zero-tolerance policy for heat. The restaurant was very clean and was decorated in a simple/contemporary way with splashes of color. I would definitely go back to try something else!

Dinner was delicious! Check in via Unilocal and get a Pisco Sour for free. My friend and I each got a glass, so that was very nice of the server to give us two instead of one. I had the Saltado de Pollo and my friend had a white fish dish I forgot the name of. My dish was exceptional! Came with a side of white rice and fries. My friend’s fish was also pretty good, but a bit salty for my palette. The service was great. Our server was very friendly, the food came out promptly, and we enjoyed our dinner.

This review is more 3.5. and just for lunch. My friend and I wandered in here after exploring the area. We were standing in the doorway looking at the menu when the server told us that they have an $ 8.95 lunch special and proceeded to show us what they were and weren’t. So we decided to stay. I ended up ordering a diet coke and a steak tacu tacu con entrana. It was basically fried rice, onions and steak. The steak tasted like it had their soy sauce on it and there was a lot of sauce on the rice. It was good but way too much sauce. It tasted just too salty. My friend ended up order the aji de gallina which was chicken in yellow cream sauce with potatoes with a side of rice. I much prefer saucey meat with a side of rice instead of the rice covered in sauce. I checked in via Unilocal and there was a Unilocal check-in deal for a free pisco sour taster. The server said he didn’t have anymore of those but instead he gave me the diet coke for free. The décor is colorful and sorta futuristic with an orange theme. I hate that the bathroom is literally 3 hallways back and its sorta creepy that way.

I was a little disappointed when I initially got here. We chose this place because of the promotion for a Pisco sour that Unilocal offers. We were also excited for $ 1 ceviche Wednesdays. Well they didn’t have any of these. They don’t have a hard liquor license so can’t offer Pisco sour. So they gave us a free beer and appetizer in it’s place. We chose papa ala huancaina and it was amazing. They didn’t have the condiments to make the ceviche special but they could make the ceviche entrée which didn’t make much sense to me. As our entrée we ordered half a chicken with chaufa. The chicken was delicious but the chaufa tasted a tiny bit burned/over cooked. Our second entrée was lomo saltado. This was very good.

Oh my god so good. Came here for dinner with a coworker, and had some Anticuchos to start, Lomo Saltado as my entrée, and Picarones for dessert. Now I will preface this with the fact that I was actually born and raised in Peru, so I KNOW my food and these guys did it right! The first thing that caught my eye(or rather, taste buds) was the sauce provided with the anticuchos. I’m not really sure what it is called off the top of my head, but it was delicious and we asked for a bit more to put on our rice with the entrée. Then there was the actual Lomo Saltado, which was delicious as expected. The meat itself was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavor-filled, and with a spice/sauce all around it which had a delicious taste that included but wasn’t limited to cilantro. The fries were tasty too, of course, and the rice wasn’t dry but just the right amount of moist. Finally, the picarones we had for dessert were freakin phenomenal. It came with a very fluffly ice cream on the side, and the given syrup, and you could tell it was all made in-house. Great tasty ending to dinner. Would definitely come back.

What a surprise treat Goyo El Pollo turned out to be! After meandering around the colorful streets of South Beach and admiring the architecture and contents of the Wolfsonian, the bf and I were HUNGRY. Hunger + Unilocal tends to yield solid results We are both, coincidentally, huge fans of the Nando’s chain in the UK. We frequently discuss how much we miss the ease, deliciousness, and simplicity of Nando’s chicken and how we would like to franchise it in the US. But then we ate at Goyo South Beach. And goodness gracious — now THAT is some chicken! We split a whole chicken(expecting UK Nando’s portions) and were overwhelmed by the amount of bird on the plate. It came with two sides; we chose salad and black beans, then ordered an additional plate of sweet potato fries. The salad dressing is a delicious, semi-creamy concoction that perfectly paired with the lettuce, and, later, the moist and well-seasoned chicken. The green sauce is very spicy, so I used it sparingly, but it added a little extra oomph to my already yummy meal. I ended up mixing the two together for my chicken, with excellent results. All that food, coupled with the free Pisco Sours we got by checking in on Unilocal and an incredible«lemonade»(ok it was better than lemonade because it wasn’t sour, but it wasn’t too sweet, and I think it had coconut water in it… definintely order it!), allowed us to continue our beachy explorations happy, full, and hankering for more Goyo El Pollo!!! For a quick, easy lunch, this spot is an easy choice.

Food is without a doubt the best Peruvian food I’ve ever had. Ordered a Ceviche dish for an appetizer and some other fried seafood platter. Also had some fish dish. My BF had steak in pasta. I tried everything and it was all delicious. Also, the Goyo Mojito is the best! No joke. Highly recommend you get it. Anyway — Only down side is the service and ambiance. Servers are nice, but they take too long on basic things like getting drinks. Why did our food come out before our drinks? also, the place has the food to be classier than the ambiance lets on. The seating and décor is mediocre and could be elevated to reflect the delicious food. From a meal perspective — DEFRECOMMEND, but not for a romantic meal kind of situation.

The food here is spot on. The Civiche and Roasted Chicken Purivian style is off the hook. You cannot go wrong. Prices were very reasonable. Our server who may have been the owner was very knowledgeable and kind. Two things bugged me: 1.) asked for water and was given bottled water, then charged for it(I would prefer if he had asked) 2.) I normally tip 18% so whatever, but he automatically put on the tip with only 2 people? wtf? I almost double tipped him until my fiancé pointed it out. You probably will pay for parking, but that seems the way everywhere in Miami.

Let me just start by saying that yes, my delivery from Goyo was amazing and far exceeded any other meal I’ve had dropped off at my doorstep. I’m generally skeptical of Washington Ave. restaurants, but Goyo was an unexpected surprise. I’ll admit that while my fellow foodistas typically scoff at the white meat, the breast is my preferred part. It’s a tricky thing to prepare the cut in a succulent and Mmm-worthy manner, but Goyo nailed it. I ordred the Combo #4: half chicken with fried rice and found a piping hot chicken with the breast, thigh and wing bone-on. After I pulled off tender pieces of white meat, I dunked them in the small containers of salsa. Both married together flavors that were simply sublime. The fried rice, while salty, matched the chicken just right. And of course, I ordered a side of maduros. Often, you can get dried up fried plantains devoid of that gooey, slightly candied texture. These did not disappoint. Gooey, sweet and just the way I like them. All of this went down just right with my Presidente. And just to think you no longer have to leave the house for this kind of treat.

Came here last night and we were NOT disappointed! The restaurant is small and kind of tucked away, but the inside is nicely modern, with warm walls and nice lighting. It’s not overly fancy, but you could definitely come here on a date. We were immediately greeted by Jorge, who brought us water and the menus. As we were perusing, Jessika came by with some great recommendations. We ordered a bottle of wine(very modest markup) and the cevice mixto. The ceviche was great — not overly acidic and the fish was very fresh. I would have liked a little more choclo along with it, but that did not detract from the overall experience. We next had the chaufa with seafood. It came out beautifully presented in a nice molded shape. The rice was al dente(which I enjoyed) and was chock full of seafood, with a large mussel on top. We were unfortunately too full for dessert — the two offerings are alfajores and peruvian donuts made with sweet potato… so I will definitely be returning for dessert another time! Jessika and Jorge were wonderful. The service here is ridiculously friendly and for that alone it is worth eating here. The great food is just a bonus on top of that!
