Chalk it up. So many reasons it was a great night: — Finest house DJs on the decks(Random Soul, Jask, DJMFR and Miguel Migs) — Lisa Shaw singing — Positive, good energy crowd celebrating every song — Plenty of space to dance — Refreshingly«normal» drink prices($ 11 cocktails, $ 8 beer, $ 6 water) — Billiards and ping pong tables for those who didn’t want to dance Why would you not want to dance?

I attended a private party here, and it was a nice scene, not too crowded in terms of the layout of their space management between the billiards and the table tennis(I think Ping Pong is the wrong term) tables, plus they have two(2) full service bars. I can see this as being a really nice fun place to throw a private event, since it’s different and fun, other than needing maybe a bigger lounge or dance area for those who opt for that, and maybe add in a few other parlor sports like darts, shuffleboard, and some pinball or video games and this place would have it all. Where some clubs reek of MIAMIVICE and are a bit ghetto and sketchy, this one is MIAMINICE, which is fun, friendly and has a cool safe vibe to it.

Been here a couple of times. This ping pong and pool lounge is everything you expect from its miami beach location. Velvet rope, girl at the door asking If you are«on the list», DJ and expensive drinks. $ 10 to play drunk ping pong for 30 minutes is a little much but I shouldn’t complain too much as every time I go I end up playing anyways. The place is nice and I have a good time when I go. They always have some event going on as well so don’t expect to walk in with a bunch of ppl after a common cause. House music all night long if seems like but it’s ok. Don’t be that guy who gets competitive with the ping pong and you will have a pretty chill time.

I love this place. I got set up here with the manager Matt, he is awesome. We went here for a birthday and a celebratory night. The atmosphere is unlike all other south beach bars. We got a table towards the back. The ping pong tables are awesome and the pool tables were on the other side. This is a very chill place. Don’t not get decked out though, it is still south beach. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a south beach experience minus the muscle heads at the doors and the stereotypical experience.

Cool place with pool tables, pretty large overall so they can handle a good amount of people. I would stop in here for a drink again and have done so in the past. I give this a thumbs up. The service and décor are pretty cool.

The first time I came to Chalk was during a Unilocal Elite event, my first to be exact too. I immediately fell in love with this place. It had a chill-vibe to it. I couldn’t wait to come back. I’ve returned about 5 more times since then. Every time it just gets better and better. Imagine, listening to your favorite tunes while drinking a delicious drink and playing ping-pong! $ 20 an hour for ping-pong or pool, really isn’t bad at all. Last time I came here it was a Thursday night,(Hip-Hop night), they played tunes from the 80s, 90s, up to Kanye’s Mercy. It was also Miami Edison Senior High 1992 reunion, it was a little awkward but fun none-the-less. I’ve definitely introduced a lot of people to Chalk, from locals to friends as far as New York and California! There’s a reason I am the Duchess!

My first trip here was for a birthday party to watch the heat finals game. They had a great happy hour, the crowd was awesome, and they even gave us one hour open bar(well drinks) and ping pong table for the birthday. This was going to be a 5 star review and a favorite spot… On my next visit, it was just one let down over another. Perhaps it was the mediocre DJ who was BLASTING dub and electronica at a bar. Perhaps it was the fact that they removed half of the ping pong tables in the joint to cater to the eager crowd of 3 who came for said DJ. Nope, it was the bartender at the end of the night who passed me my receipt, without the bill attached, or the last drink I had ordered. I reminded him that he had not given me my last drink. 5 minutes later after signing my bill and I did not get my drink, at a relatively empty bar. My patience ran out… If anyone has heard of the bill first, drink later(if you ask) policy, I will retract my review.

I love me some Chalk! Chic without being pretentious. Fun without being kitschy. Fresh and creative without being weird. Chalk is a great addition to the sobe nightlife scene. Chalk has gorgeous new ping pong and pool tables for rent and a DJ pumping tunes. Drinks are strong and served quickly over a beautiful industrial style bar. Typical sobe prices — don’t expect it to be cheap. This is high end establishment is nothing like the divey pool halls you used to go to. Be sure to check out the VAULT, a super cool, hidden room in the back of the venue. The VIP room used to be the actual vault when the space was a bank back in the day. Bottom Line: Clean and focused, Chalk is the spot on sobe to chill with class.

Had a great time here Friday night on a double date. Great location, located right near Mansion and Automatic Slims, two of our other stops that night. No cover or hassle to get in. There’s three main areas: one bar on right when you first get in. Cool ping pong room in the middle with about six tables and neat looking beaded-walls which stop the balls from flying/rolling around everywhere but still allow you to see in and out. The third area consists of pool tables and another bar. We put our names on the list for both ping pong and pool. Only had to wait about 20or so minutes before receiving a text that we were up for ping pong. Played for an hour(you only receive 2 paddles/table so we took turns), had fun, bent over way too many times in my short skirt and then went on our merry little way. Oh, it was $ 20/hour. Not sure about prices for billiards… Had a great time and I see myself becoming a regular here. Cool place!

Solid place for a different kind of night out, away from the usual — and oft-awkward — crotch-to-crotch interaction that happens in clubs, lounges, and other dark corners of Miami where house music is pumped in like some intravenous drug. Chalk’s concept is simple: ping pong, pool, and music. And really, in that regard, you can’t ask for much more. Chalk is absolutely loaded with tables(nowhere near enough to accommodate the crowd, but it’s impossible to accommodate anything in Miami, particularly when something is still considered«in»), and save for the danger of a wayward pool cue jabbing you in the nether-regions or a high speed serve bringing you face first with a ping pong ball, you can spend a good number of hours getting progressively worse at your game of choice as the drink tightens its grip on your sobriety. My one and only time there doesn’t really tell Chalk’s full story, though. I didn’t really get to mingle among the hipsters that so pervasively make up 99% of Chalk’s patrons(for the first time ever, I was part of the 1%) because I was with a group that rented out Chalk’s private event room. Now, this is a nice little addition to the service that Chalk offers. You get a private room so long as you purchase two bottles and book it with fair warning. I am obviously NOT the private room type, but seeing as how so many of us were chipping in, I wasn’t required to dig too deeply into my PBR, scotch, and sandwich fund. Best part: the room comes equipped with an iPod dock, so you can listen to whatever your auditory propensities may require instead of being relegated the cruel decision-making of a dictatorial DJ. So yes, it’s a cool place. Not something I’d probably see myself doing with too much frequency, but in terms of providing a much needed respite from the endless string of «trend» that gets lobbed at you from every direction, Chalk is definitely worth checking out.

spent my 30th here back in Feb, I reserved the private ping pong room about a month before the party, I arrived right when they opened and was allowed to bring my own decorations, food etc, we set up the room, asked them to lock it and came back later. bottle min for the private room is 2, and you are welcome to stay all night, we started around 9ish and everyone had fun, lots of seating for most… big screen tv, ipad, climate, music control, really nice room only major debbie downer is when the manager pulled me aside half way through the night and had me pull up all my emails on my phone confirming I reserved the room. some one else had arrived later than us stating they reserved the room too so that was a fiasco but it was very memorable dirty 30

I don’t get all the super critical reviews of this place. It’s a bar that allows you to play pool and ping pong, it’s NOT the Taj Mahal, people! So my fiancé and I went to that garbage club mansion across the street and after 5 minutes and a drink were like bye bye! We stumbled out and saw chalk LITERALLY right across the street. I heard about this venue because they invited everyone from Icon brickell to have a party there one evening but unfortunately, I couldn’t make it. So we walked up to the door which had no line and the doorman was super nice, no cover, walked right in. I was taken aback by the modern décor and happy crowd dancing to 80’s and 90’s(hall & oates, SCORE). Instantly I felt a happy vibe as well and began to dance. We ran into 2 of the only like 10 friends that we have in Miami(I don’t really mingle too well with the typical gold digging girls who don’t work or go to school and think that I’m dumb enough to believe that money just grows on trees for them) so obviously the spot is amazing! If you check in with Unilocal you get a free shot(so make sure to do it BEFORE you go to the bar) so that’s a little plus to get you started. The drinks are strong, NOT $ 20 for a vodka cran(phew) and the atmosphere is just really laid back and entertaining. No one is pretentious here(well maybe a few but hey, it’s Miami you can’t have it all). I can’t speak for actually playing ping-pong or pool or how long the wait was to play either as I was only drinking and dancing but next time I will definitely have to make sure that we play some ping-pong!

What a different concept! Even better that the concept was executed so beautifully! These guys definitely poured money into this place — and all on prime real estate! Ping pong, pool tables, beer pong, hipsters, posers, poker nights, indoor smoking(for you smokers), cool door guy with a mohawk, and decent service at the bar(in my 10+ experiences). They’ve also got VIP rooms, one with a ping pong table and the other with a pool table, that can be rented out for the night for birthday parties and other events. I was weirded out though, when I went to check-in on Facebook and found a check-in for the ‘men’s bathroom stall at Chalk.’ Um, yeah… lol

My friend pitched Chalk to me as a bar where you can play games. Awesome! — I thought. Lots of ping pong and pool tables inside. And no cover :) I was a bit wary when I found out the location — 13th and Wash in SoBe, but I’ll try just about anything once. Well, my suspicions were further fed when we showed up at 9PM and there was a line to get in, and a velvet rope. They let us in after a short wait, and when we got in there weren’t all that many people inside. Despite the pretentious first beginnings, I do have to give them credit for keeping the place not-crowded so the patrons would have enough«elbow» room to comfortably play pool or ping-pong. The place was fresh looking, modern. Has a bar in the half with the pool tables and another bar in the half with the ping pong tables(I think they have 4 tables of each). There were a total of about 8 wall-mounted TVs in the place, but 7 of the 8 had on the same basketball game. Not so well though out. Well, then I found out the prices. To rent the balls to play pool for 1 hour was $ 20. Oy vey. A mixed drink was $ 11. Okay it’s SoBe. But to pay with a credit card you had to have a $ 25 minimum. That means that you needed 3 mixed drinks, and put you $ 8 over their minimum — cheeky ones they can be sometimes. And — smoking is allowed inside(no patio). So you walk out smelling like someone else’s fumes. Don’t get me wrong, I rolled with it and had a good time, but what else are you going to do? But I’ve definitely gotten much more return on my my investment elsewhere. Maybe I should rip on SoBe and not Chalk, but I won’t willingly go back here.

This place has it all. Not to mention, it is located in the land of the beautiful in South Beach. When walking inside, to the left are the billiard section and a bar towards the back. In the center of the building, is a row of ping-pong tables. To the right of the ping-pong section is an area of comfortable couches and another bar. On the walls around the billiard area, are some iPads or something. If you scroll through the photos, you will find me in there. As I played with this contraption for a few minutes, I snapped a bunch of photos. Inside it has the vibe of a nightclub almost. The music was bumping and the lights were dim with a blue tone. However, it is almost like an upscale pool hall /ping-pong table hangout. If in the area for a game of a pool or ping-pong, check this place out. Oh and the bartenders are f-word hot. Um yeah…

Love this place! It’s like going back to my childhood with full on table tennis and ontop of it, brand new awesome pool tables. Only now, not being a child anymore(well, in age at least) I can enjoy their awesome drink menu and great service! Plus the waitresses are hot and always so welcoming:) Cheers!

This should be 2.5 stars, between«I’ve experienced better» and«A-OK» since there is really no «better» in Miami as this is the only ping pong lounge that I’m aware of in Dade. But there were several things going wrong: — not enough ping pong tables surprisingly, but people can get a drink while they wait, so that’s ok. And there’s also pool tables — the bartender did not know what a Cuba Libre was. And the drinks were not that cheap, even with house liquor — people younger than 21 are not allowed in, even if it’s just to play the games and not to drink(I think Miami Beach needs to work to make sure there are other unharmful activities for this age group set or trouble may be bound to happen) — and the biggest MISTAKE of them all — SMOKINGISALLOWEDINDOORS. Frankly, I think this is just a dumb idea, since it makes for a pretty dangerous environment for the active players that are doing extraneous exercise playing ping pong(and yes, it does break a sweat). Just for this, I would give it 1 star. And really, with Miami being in paradise, there’s no reason for the smokers to just smoke outside in the expansive space they have in the front. But because I actually liked the décor and atmosphere, and also because of the fact that there’s no other ping pong lounge nearby, I’m being generous by giving two.

I went with a pretty large group of girls last night to Chalk for a special post-happy hour event. It started at 7, and this is Day 2 of opening, so the place was pretty empty, but 7PM is that weird time between happy hour and night life which was perfect to really be able to really get a feel for Chalk. I hear at around 10PM it gets pretty crazy. Chalk looks like an upscale night club that has a ping pong area in the center, and another room with tournament sized pool tables. There’s also a few TV’s in there too. Ambiance: The design and aesthetics of this place is awesome. You walk through the door and are transported to a little blue ping pong planet. Cool blue lighting, a little pond in the corner with greenery by the door, the modernized beading surrounding the pool tables, the funky leather couches that you want to steal and take home to your flat, the bar that looks like it has little twinkling stars in it, the little IPOD jukebox on the wall? I almost felt like the staff should be wearing cool little Jetsons type outfits. It’s all those details, that make you want to stay, play, and step your ping pong game up for sure. Great place to impress a first date. You can smoke here, which probably sucks when the place is packed. Service: Absolutely no complaints… Was I really in SOBE? The ladies were extremely helpful and the free drinks for our event flowed nicely. Two full bars, but 1 star off for not having bar food, if I come to play for awhile, I don’t drink, but I definitely want to eat. I was told they do cater for special events though if you decide to have one there which is a plus. However, Chicken wings, nachos, mini burgers, little tacos, hummus, cheese/fruit plate, etc., would definitely make a girl like me stay longer. There are of course, plenty of little fast food places next door(some burrito place I don’t like) and Baja Fresh is right on the corner, but when drunk people stagger out and leave, do they usually find their way back? Games: Great place to start the night off, or if you’re really a ping pong head(is that what they’re called?) take up residence for the night. Again, tournament sized pool tables and plenty of ping pong tables which has to be hilarious as the night goes on and people get more drinks in them. I was also told they’re going to have ping pong tournaments where people can form their own teams and such. How cool is that? I’ll definitely be there to watch some beat downs take place. Specials: Table reservations available, catered events.(see photo of flyer) Thursdays beginning January 12 Classic Hip Hop + Party Jams with sounds by DBJ. Hosted by Bernz of Mayday… Classic hip hop(you know, the REAL stuff!) Need I say more?

What an awesome concept! Like Lucky Strike but with ping pong instead of bowling.(or depending on where you live, as Luianca says… it’s like Splittsville). Housed in and old bank, or more recently the former Hustler store space, there is a cute little pond at the entrance and the space is beautifully decorated. Chalk also has many pool tables and is 2 doors down from Felt Billiards.(ironic?) Great lighting and music. 2 full bars. A great place to hang out for a fun evening. 1 star off beause the invite to the grand opening said free drinks from 10 – 11, and the bartender(at 10 pm) said it was already over. Instead we paid $ 15 for 2 beers. 1 more star off because cigarette smoking is allowed there. You WILL walk out with your skin, clothing, and hair smelling like an ashtray.

Washington Avenue now has Miami Beach’s only Billiards and Table Tennis Night Club Venue similar to the ones you will find in NYC and LA. With 7 World Class Table Tennis Tables including a VIP Private Room with a table tennis table, this is the place to be seen for one of the growing sports in America. As John Stamos said on Entourage, «Table Tennis the New Billiards». We’ll see if the Celebs show up to display their game in SOBE. I attended the long awaited Grand Opening and was impressed with the facility. I picked up a few singles and doubles games and hit a few overhand top spins and sampled some drinks in their lounge. They had both the small and the new larger super size table tennis balls which makes it easier for novice players. For those that haven’t played table tennis since College, the games are now to 11 points with a player serving 2 times before switching serves. Chalk Miami is right across the street from Mansion at 1234 Washington Avenue. You can park at one of the nearby garages.
