Whatever you do, please get the jalapeño red pepper cheese curds!!! Omg — freaking, delicious! Great«build your own burger» joint. A lot of choices to pick from,(vegetarian and turkey options available as well as bison Kobe and tuna). Don’t forget about shakes!

Went here today to grab a quick bite before my friends had to go back to work. This place is pretty small. The set up is quite interesting. The menu was full of print outs of things for you to circle to build your own burger. I really appreciated the number of options available. Our server was efficient and the place as clean. When the burgers we ordered came out, we discovered that all three of ours weren’t cooked to the temperatures requested. Regardless, we were on a crunch for time so we didn’t say anything and just ate them as is. Overlooking the mishap with the burgers’ temperatures, the toppings and meat patty itself were quite flavorful. I ordered the sweet potato friends and they were delicious. Ultimately, I would come back here. The happy hour menu looks good and I’d be willing to get another burger and double check with the server that it is cooked properly.

Came here for dinner during a Saints game and the place wasn’t packed. And on that note, happy hour specials are always in effect when the Saints are playing no matter what time it is. They had $ 1 per wing specials for happy hour and I remember a friend recommending the duck wings. We ordered 6 of them with the regular hot sauce and the sweet garlic. I liked them both but leaning more towards the sweet garlic. My girl never heard of such a thing as duck wings so she was satisfied with them. The concept of ordering your burger is efficient along the lines of never getting your order wrong. They provide a sheet and a pencil to circle how you want your burger including toppings, sauce, bread, etc. I ordered the Bison burger with onion rings and my girl ordered the Angus burger with fries. The burger patty wasn’t flavored at all… What really made the sandwich was everything else it came with especially the sauce and bread. The onion rings and fries were oily and actually had a great crisp to them. Here is the kicker… The dessert! We ordered the s’more milkshake to share and it was surprisingly good!

I love meat, and I love burgers. This burger was… average. Service was quick, but probably won’t be back.

I love Phil’s grill! That is one place I frequent to get the best tasting burger in the city. The menu is a build-your-own burger and the choices are plentiful. I mostly stick to the angus burger on an onion bun with grilled mushrooms and onions covered with sliced havarti cheese. It’s delicious! I also frequently order a rare(almost raw) tuna steak salad with a house made chunky blue cheese dressing that I love. I always get a side of grilled veggies(yellow squash and zucchini) and onion strings. The reason for the four stars are the parking situation and the smell. The lot can only accommodate a few cars and on a weekend it gets busy, being across the street from a mall. I’ve had to park down the street and around the corner because of the signs warning about towing if you park in the neighbor’s lot. There’s also this funny smell of sewage whenever you enter the place. It’s been like that for years. I suggest to test the P-traps in the bathrooms and inspect the vent pipe for cracks or a bird’s nest blocking the vent on the roof. Neither of these have prevented me from eating at Phil’s on Severn. I tried the Harahan location and it’s similar but just not as good. Oh, I forgot to mention the happy hour specials! On weekdays from three until six(I think) you get half off drinks and $ 1 duck or chicken wings. It’s delicious!

We have always liked this place. You build your burger the way you like it. This time, me and my boyfriend ordered the lettuce buns instead and it was very refreshing and great! Although, we tried their Kobe sliders and they were a little too dry. Remember to check in to this place next time you visit. You will get a premium topping free. And they are very cool about it too!

Ok. Ordering the Fat City meat option isn’t much different than simply deciding that you are ok with congestive heart failure but… I ordered it with a lettuce bun so I think I’ll be ok. Check in with Unilocal and get an extra premium topping. I chose portobello mushroom. There is no way I could manage this thing without a knife but my girlfriend got a few good bites in before succumbing to the knife and fork. We had as much fun choosing options for the burger as building it. Fun date.

Definitely an expensive burger joint(well over $ 10), but the selection of ingredients are bountiful and solid. The fries are pretty good with a decent portion. So with a drink, the meal was pretty satisfying. I shouldn’t be a glutton, but in my head, if I am spending that kind of dough, I’d expect to have the feeling«I’m stuffed. Someone, roll me out.» Overall, it’s a solid joint and still ranked behind my usual favorite of Cheeseburger Eddies(off of W Esplanade and Clearview).

Omg, that was good. So good! I’ve been looking for a good hamburger place for a while and this hit the mark. I got a bison burger dressed with bacon and a fried egg. I topped it off with a crème soda float. I must of killed 3 trees with the paper towels I used, the burger was so juicy. It was fantastic. I highly recommend this place to satisfy that burger beast inside.

Omg. Hands down best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! Got the Zapp’d chicken tossed in buffalo sauce w/lettuce, american cheese and ranch. SOGOOD. BF got the«Fat City» w/bacon, he says definitely in the top 3 burgers he’s ever had! Definitely get the cheese added on the fries, so worth it. This is definitely a place to be fat cause it is sooo good!

Food here is awesome. Our waitress was super nice and we even indulged in root beer floats… ummm, YUM. Smells a little funny when you walk in; I’m not sure what that’s about, but we’ll definitely be back.

The quality of this food we ordered was terrible. The fries were soggy and bland, seems as if they didn’t change out their oil in a couple of days. The nachos that we ordered looked unappealing and the potatoes seemed to be deep fried and soggy. The burger was half way decent other than the fact that they fried the burger? Again, crazy amount of grease. The whole restaurant was a mess, things on the floor, tables unclean. I remember a couple years ago how tidy and organized Phil was about his restaurant. My boyfriend and I were very unhappy with the results of a $ 45 meal for nachos, two burgers and one order of fries. Sadly, we won’t be returning until major changes happen at this location on Severn.

My husband and I visited Phil’s today and we were quite pleased. Both of our burgers were grilled to perfection. The were juicy and moist and just as we had ordered them. The creole aioli gave my burger a nice kick. My husband ordered the sweet potato fries with his burger and he cleaned his plate. It is safe to say«we’ll be back!!!» I just realized this is the Severn location review page and we visited the Harahan location. I tried deleting the review but it wouldn’t let me delete.

Good place to get a very good burger. I usually get the Bison or Angus but this time I tried the fat city burger. Its a deep fried cheese stuffed burger. It was ok. I like the Bison the best. The service was really good. Only trouble I had was ordering online. Its a but wonky. It worked for my gf though so maybe it was just a one time thing. Also their adult shakes are amazing! A must try!

My gf and I stopped in one night for burgers. The waitress was very friendly, informative, and on top of her game. But the food somewhat disappointed. I had the lagniappe(hot sausage), with potato salad. All my fixins were good, as was the jalapeño bread. And the hot sausage patty was cooked medium, just how I ordered it. And it was pretty good, nothing out of this world, but it’s hard to mess up hot sausage. My gf’s burger, however, was quite bland. It tasted like they added salt and through the hunk of meat on the grill. It was cooked medium well(ordered well done), and just wasn’t a very good burger. My potato salad was ok, and her fries were just fine. Normally, Phil’s is pretty spot on and good, so I hope it was just a one-off bad burger.

I’ve had to update my initial review, sadly. Admittedly the server we had was not great at much but repeatedly checking her cell phone. However, the basics are failing. Medium rare seems to be a foreign concept, the server had no idea what she was serving us, and the parking situation is miserable. It’s hard to tell the quality of my burger since it was well over cooked, but angus means little in the real world. I came in with an hour to eat, being fed took so long I was late even without finishing my chewy burger. I support local businesses but not when they let quality slip this dramatically. I won’t be back soon.
