We came here for a last minute celebration during the week. It was a Tuesday evening and the place was pretty empty. They have a nice outdoor patio with a bar and heaters which looks like it would be a nice place to hang out. However, it was raining that night so we opted to sit inside. We ordered the crawfish egg rolls for an appetizer and they were delish. 5 on a plate so everyone was able to taste one and I was the lucky one who got 2. My husband got the ribeye which he said was really good for the price and I got the blackened tuna Lafayette. The Lafayette was an alfredo shrimp sauce over pasta and it was to die for. For a $ 1.00 upcharge you could get the crawfish Pontchartrain instead. Might have to try that next time. The service was great and our waiter was helpful when I was debating on what to get. Overall, it was a nice experience and I will definitely be going back to eat on the patio when the weather gets nicer.

Never go here!!! Please!!! I’m telling you!!! They have the worst service ever!!! They give me cold food with no taste!!! When I ask can I get something else or something!!! The manager said he could not take it back because the dish is to high 23 $!!! And nothing’s wrong with it! If I’m telling you somethings not right u should fix it!!! But they would never ever get my business ever again!!! I’m going to tell everyone this is not how you treat your guess! Btw I work in this industry and I’m an manager and I would NEVER!!!

Chargrilled oysters are always good. Better than everywhere else I have been. Crab cakes are worth trying, really good actually my favorite meal. Crab and corn soup is a fav. And I really like the potato salad too. And of course the voo doo rolls… good. Another dish I like is the blackened chicken.

Not a bad seafood place to eat! I’ll come back. You do have to try their crawfish voodoo appetizer!

I absolutely love this restaurant! I’ve been visiting them since they’ve opened over 10 years ago. I now live in TX but I always visit when I’m in town. Seafood is always fried to perfection. I’ve had several dishes there and I’ve never been disappointed. The staff is attentive and very friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

This place had such a nice atmosphere! We were seated on the patio and first thing I saw was a water fountain front and center. So nice. I asked the waiter for his favorite menu items & decided on the stuffed eggplant dish. It had two long slices of breaded eggplant, crab meat stuffing, a bed of Angel hair pasta and a yummy sauce. Overall, I loved the experience. Waiter was friendly, we were seated promptly, and luckily went during their happy hour and lunch special time.

3.5 stars. The food was tasty, but nothing blew me out of the water. The gumbo had a nice dark roux and was very tasty, with real seafood; definitely the best part of the meal. The Voodoo Crawfish rolls were somewhat disappointing; just a couple of crawfish tails with tons of melted cheese on top of some kind of fried pastry. The po-boy itself was pretty good, although I think it’s kind of strange they didn’t dress it but instead put everything on the side. I asked for remoulade instead of mayo because mayo is gross and they would only give me the remoulade in a side cup which was kind of weird. The shrimp were seasoned nicely and cooked well. I ordered the grilled shrimp so I bet the fried ones are even better. The french bread was underwhelming and lacked the real heft one might expect from a po-boy loaf. I probably would have bumped it up to a 4 star, but something our sever did left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not going to name her here, but when she dropped off the check, she took it upon herself to circle the suggested gratuities and handwrite«not included» on the receipt. I still tipped her 20%, but it left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. I’d definitely come back to give it another chance to really impress me. It was beautiful outside today and their courtyard is very pretty. They also have lots of happy hour specials which I would definitely come back for. I’ve found lots of disappointing restaurants in the Bucktown/Lakefront area, and NOFS definitely stands out above the rest.

Went for a late lunch and had fried shrimp and catfish. It was awesome. Didn’t like that I had to pay $ 2.00 for veggies instead of fries and potato salad, but the food was great and price was fair.

Omg this place is amazing! The food is so delicious!!! We had the seafood gumbo which was just the right amount of spicy & savoury that I crave. Full of shrimp & crab that are very tender. Super flavourful loved it. We also ordered the voodoo rolls that most other reviews raved about, they more than lived up to the hype. Most delectable almost fried chicken like breading filled w/melt in your mouth crawfish & cheese. Creamy dipping sauce w/those good w/or w/out. I will def go back here next time I’m in Nola even tho I know there are tons of gumbo joints this place is killer.

One of the best restaurant meals I have had in recent memory. The hush puppies were perfect, crispy and sweet. The spinach artichoke dip tasted fresh and was also very good. The service was excellent, and it was not very expensive. They had a large patio for outdoor dinning. Only way id have liked it more, would have been if I could have ordered Chicken and Sausage Gumbo!

My mom and some of my coworkers had been telling me about this place for a while. I just never had an opportunity to drop by. After a wonderful meal I must say this won’t be my last time. This was a fantastic experience for me. The service first of all stood out. Everyone was very inviting and attentive. The place was packed so the servers were all busy yet I never felt forgotten. The food was fantastic. I can’t wait to bring my family & friends to this place. What you’ll find here is our brand of seafood done right and our brand of hospitality showcased. Can’t go wrong with that.

This last visit was not the best, but I have been here several times before and loved it. I usually come for dinner, so maybe lunch is more hectic? This is a place we come regularly and will continue to. I got the popcorn shrimp salad– the shrimp were huge! My dad got the seafood platter. We also got hush puppies and onion rings as an appetizer. All good, nothing outstanding this time.

Courtyard seating! My family loves to get together at this place. I’ve never been when it wasn’t super crowded which could be a bad thing but the servers are always fast and very attentive. I recently went for brunch and sat in the redone courtyard area and it was fabulous. They have big TVs outside so the husbands were very happy about not missing the game. The bloody Mary’s here are not to be missed! Make sure you fill up on some of there oysters and bloody Mary’s and you will be a happy happy customer!

I’m kicking myself for never trying this restaurant sooner, and I’m already looking forward to going back to New Orleans Food & Spirits! I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner, and I know my family also enjoyed theirs. We started with the cajun crawfish rolls, and they were a real treat. Do yourself a favor and order them! We also ordered the grilled shrimp salad, grilled tuna entre, and hmmmmm. I sure can’t remember what my brother ordered, but I know he enjoyed it. I had the grilled shrimp salad and it was really tasty. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and plentiful. I’d like to go back and try some different menu options as they seemed to have a nice selection. Another big reason I want to go back to this restaurant is the fact that they have a huge courtyard. On any evening this is a big draw for me. Even in the heat of a New Orleans summer the shade of a lovely courtyard makes the world go round! I’ll definitely be back to enjoy it.

Every time my family comes in town, there’s always a request to come here. With the weather being so perfect lately, this is your place to come if you want to sit on the patio and enjoy a nice meal. BUT, be prepared to wait. Not just for a table due to its popularity, but for your food. The last couple of times we’ve come our food has taken an exceptionally long time to come; close to an hour in fact. I understand it takes time to produce good food but dude c’mon! Moving on to the food though… while it’s nothing that will blow you out of the water, they do a good job of delivering consistent, well seasoned food. I hadn’t tried the gumbo in awhile so I decided to order that and once again, they put their foot in it. They also deliver when it comes to their chargrilled oysters. Crawfish rolls, not my favorite but everyone else seems to love them. A little too rich for my liking. When I do get a craving for fried seafood, I’ll take them over Deanie’s unseasoned, flavorless batter any day. All in all, a consistent family friendly place with a menu that caters to all.

Unimpressed. I’m not exactly jaded with typical New Orleans cuisine. The creamy pastas, fried seafood, and oysters. I’ve tried the restaurant in westbank, and my opinion favors the westbank location more. We had the voodoo rolls– I feel like it was under fried. The shell was not crispy. Oysters– that was fine but you can’t mess up raw oysters. Hawaiian salmon– perhaps the best of what was ordered. Stuffed catfish– I understand it was supposed to me seasoned catfish but the seasoning was burnt. Stuffed eggplant– eggplant was fine but the pasta was greasy. Not to mention our waitress who seemed frazzled and unfriendly. Obviously, with an automatic 18% added to parties of 5 or more, she didn’t feel like she had to make an effort to be nice.

There is no doubt this is a down and dirty local hang out. If you’re looking for romantic ambience, hipster cool, or funky food establishment — you’re most definitely in the wrong place. If you enjoy oysters or fried food, by God you made it to the right place! From what I saw the portions are massive. Example — we ordered a fried oyster salad. For the first time I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant, our salad came out with not 8; not 12; but 16 of the biggest fried oysters I’ve ever seen. It was literally Amazing! But I digress. We started out with an order of a dozen raw oysters and A dozen chargrilled oysters. First of all, the oysters were some of the largest and absolutely freshest oysters I think I’ve ever had in my life– there was literally no hint of any smell– at all! WTFNOLA? Are you keeping all of your good oysters at home? Perhaps even more interesting was their version of chargrilled oysters. They had a smooth smoky flavor, that was for more pronounced than katie’s version of this, but still unbelievably delicious. The crowd here was a true a true mix of New Orleans locals — kids, family, friends– including the local sheriff who occasionally pronounced people that were parked double outside!!! If you want a taste of New Orleans at rock-bottom prices with food that I make your tastebuds stand up and shout hallelujah! you found it. Just make sure you don’t double park — that sheriff is awful tough looking.

I’ve been a regular at the Bucktown location for years and a fan of the VooDoo rolls since my very first visit. Even after all these years, they are still my go-to menu selection at every visit. Add on the charbroiled oysters when they’re in season and I’m one happy girl. My entire family is a fan of the menu at New Orleans Food and Spirits. Some noted favorites are the gumbo, the grilled shrimp salad, the popcorn shrimp salad, the swamp pasta and the catfish louziane. All the dishes are very, very generous portions. About a year ago the Bucktown location expanded by adding on a large courtyard(partially covered) with an additional outdoor bar. It’s pretty and the added seating is nice but my one complaint is that they rearranged inside too. and when they did, they made the seating area too tight. During my last two visits, the tables were practically on top of each other. The tables for the large parties were kind oof overtaking the smaller parties. It wasn’t easy getting in and out for the wait staff or for us. i actually thought about what would happen if there was a fire. Many people’s chairs were crammed behind the table against the wall with no easy way out. I would have been a bit claustrophoc if placed there. I was also recently at the West Bank location and found the layout much better and more spacious. Other than the cramped dining room, it’s still one of my favorite restaurants for the delicious menu options and of course the voodoo rolls. :)
