Décor was fun and the service pleasant. Drinks were less than average. Dinner was not great or even good. Catfish was super greasy and more fried than fish. Asked for a salad instead of fries and got a sad little small bowl. Highlight of the night besides my lovely friends of course, was the awesome key lime pie.

Really enjoyed RS Jones. My boyfriend says he would’ve liked more seasoning, but I loved almost everything I had. We tried a few things. They give you tortilla chips at the table with salsa which was good. The southern theme/décor usually isn’t my style but I found it really fun. The apple butter and cornbread is AMAZING. GETIT. I had the cornbread alone first and was not impressed but then I tried it with the apple butter and now I’m obsessed. We also tried the cheesy grits and mac and cheese and they were delicious. For dinner I had chicken fried chicken, just ok. I didn’t finish. For dessert I had some sort of brownie sundae and it was great. Good end to the meal. The prices aren’t great, but the food is really good and the service is wonderful. Everyone is super nice. I can’t wait to go back.

Visit Date: April 8, 2016 I have always wanted to try this place. Finally got the chance when I went there for my co-worker’s birthday dinner. It was honestly okay. There were things I loved about it and things I didn’t like so much. It’s a small place so it’s more cramped and crowded. I prefer some space to myself when eating out so I disliked that aspect. On the other hand the décor was fun, and kitschy. For a drink since I’m currently pregnant and was also driving I had the virgin piña colada. It was alright, had a weird taste to it. I also had water but I felt like they were rationing the water. After repeated requests and getting tiny little cups of water our waitress finally bought a pitcher to our table so we could refill the tiny cups of water. For my dinner I chose two appetizers and I also ate the nacho chips that were served complimentary at the table. The nacho chips were okay, the salsa they served with the chips was very bland. I had the cornbread loaf and the sweet potato pancakes. The sweet potato pancakes were okay. They were slightly burnt in certain places but it wasn’t terribly burnt to the point of being inedible. They came with apple butter which was a nice accompaniment and an interesting choice to serve them with instead of apple sauce. I also had the cornbread loaf which I found to be the best thing I ate. That came with apple butter as well. For dessert I chose the peanut butter pie which was a little disappointing. It wasn’t inedible but had I known it wasn’t going to taste peanut butter like enough to my liking I would have chosen a different dessert. Overall this is a decent place to come to, wouldn’t rave about it but I don’t hate it either.

Food, service, ambiance and drinks were great. Staff made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. The only reason they received 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food wasn’t spicy at all. Thank you R.S. Jones for an excellent 33rd birthday!

I like eating here. The six shooter is hands down the best entrée on the menu. Too large for you? *ask for the three shooter… Shhh! Speaking of secrets, it is no secret that I dislike cooking, so when I’m invited to a pot luck I want to shine… But do no work. I accomplish this by ordering full pies from RS Jones! My friends are raving about my culinary skills and tough luck to the person who made the other peanut butter pie or shoo fly pie… Your efforts were thwarted. However, soon spirits will loosen my lips and I’ll reveal my now well known secret… I don’t cook, I cater from RS Jones(the person who made the subpar peanut butter pie glared at me…) it’s the thought that counts and I’ll keep counting on RS Jones for pies as well as other catering.

I don’t know. Maybe it was an off night. Staff was friendly though unattentive. Servers mostly stood around the bar talking. I had high expectations for the food based on the reviews. I found the food to be largely over cooked, bland and lacking seasoning. Alligator wontons were still cold in the middle. Great concept. Poorly executed.

Went on Saturday night with friends. The bar was small but, the bartender was spot on. The food was great. We ordered a bunch of appetizers that we shared. The Duck Dumplings were awesome as was the Gumbo. I had the pulled pork special which was very good and my wife had blackened catfish which was the best I ever had. The service was just as good as the food and the music tied everything together. Its safe to say we all had a great time. PS. I hear the chocolate martinis are over the top.

I went with my wife to RS Jones for dinner yesterday. We used a www. . certificate The restaurant is clean but was a little kitschy in appearance. We were given chips and salsa when we came in. The salsa is a corn salsa which was very thick and delicious not like the watery salsa in other restaurants. We then ordered 2 appetizers a chili with cheese and a shrimp rellenos. Both were excellent especially the chili which had real meat in it not the usual chopped meat you get in chili. We then ordered 2 dinners a chicken burrito and a beef enchilada. They were both excellent although my chicken burrito was like a high quality chicken pot pie. The sides we ordered were mac and cheese and rice and beans. The mac and cheese was superb and just right. The rice and beans were good however the rice could have had more flavor. We then had a dessert of sugar free baked apple which was was nice to see a restaurant with a good sugar free dessert. There was a live band called Avner Levy playing who were very good and added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Service was excellent and responsive which added to the friendly feel of the restaurant. The price to value ratio is about average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a surprising and excellent experience and I look forward to returning as soon as possible.

Went here on a Friday night with loved ones and had a nice time. We ordered the mac and cheese, the skirt steak and the RS burger with sweet potato fries with a pitcher of sangria. Everything was pretty good but nothing special. My favorite dish was the skirt steak. Their marinade is very flavorful and it was cooked to my liking. I’m a huge foodie and personally, I feel that the place is a bit overpriced. The staff was extremely friendly and the ambiance gave you a comfortable feeling.

Ok so RS Jones is for sure a polarizing place. Undoubtedly, the décor in here is kitsch and borders on tacky. And the dim lights do a good job of hiding some pretty grungy booths and what I imagine is a carpet I’d rather not inspect. To boot, the prices can run up a little high for the cuisine. Still, I like this place, and keep going back. For one, there just aren’t so many places around for some good southern comfort food, which you get here, with some BBQ and Tex-mex sprinkled in. Chicken fried steak? Yes please. Smashed potatoes and Mac and cheese piled high? I’ll take it. An ever-changing rotation of specials keeps the variety up and has me coming back. They have a decent beer selection and make a few good cocktails here too. I’ve never had bad service, and have always found the staff welcoming and friendly, though I’ll admit their down-home-ness sometimes results in slower than average drink refills. If you want to be fed up full and have a hankering for a home cooked meal, give it a try.
