Really great BBQ, ribs excellent. We were a bit put off by its location in a gas station but food overcame the environment.

Considering the choices in rural Mississippi, it’s not bad BBQ. The pulled pork is flavorful enough, thanks to the good sauce that they provide and the buns aren’t dry at all, which is a great plus. However, the sandwiches could use a little more meet. Come on Pappy, don’t skimp! Fried okra is above average. Hey Pappy, BRINGBACKCORNNUGGETS!

Why is it that the best restaurants are always off the beaten path? After using Unilocal to locate a good BBQ place, I drove about 5 — 8 mins away from the interstate… Located in a gas station is some great BBQ. I had ribs(order by the number of ribs that you want), fries, and greens. While the meat wasn’t «fall off the bone», the flavor definitely kept me gnawing on it till it was clean. I was a happy camper when I got back onto the interstate… Next time through, I’m stopping again!

I love Pappy’s and if it wasn’t in a shell station it just wouldn’t be the same. Cleaner and far less creepy than the seafood express gas station, I come to Pappys an embarrassing amount. Their lunch food is great: I love their mac and cheese and sauces with the bbq chicken but the breakfast biscuits are the real winner here. They’re also very very sweet when I call my order in on Saturday mornings for five or six different breakfast sandwiches. Unlike absolutely any other place in meridian they always get my order right and everything is made fresh. They make sure to pack extra jelly and butter in the bag. All around delicious food and very nice people.

This is the first time I ever got food at a gas station… it’s last place I would eat but in Mississippi that’s how they role. Let me tell you. the brisket po’boy was out of this world. it was the best I have ever eaten. The fried shrimp po’boys was was wonderful. It’s like the line from the movie The Blind Side, the recruiter from O’l Miss tells the kid.”.in Mississippi you can get great BBQ at any gas station!“ A truer line has never been spoken.

This little place is in a Shell Gas Station on North Highway 39 near Marion, Mississippi. I stopped in on a Sunday to pick up a soda and noticed the place had some outdoor tables with colorful umbrellas.(Some indoor booths and tables were also available.) I looked over their selection in the showcase and they had all of the usuall«fast-food barbecue» choices, offering individual meat and sandwich selections as well as plate lunches. Then I asked the lady behind the counter my usual opening question; «I’m from Dallas so I’m used to GOOD Bar-b-q. What should I not leave here without trying?» She said she was from New Orleans, and«Everything here is good, but if you want something different, try the Chicken on a Stick.» I asked if the Chicken was barbecued, or grilled and she smiled, pointing to a long lump of something that had been deep fried on a long spear. Chicken On A Stick is a Chicken Shish K-Bob that they battered and deep fried.(I’ll include a photo.) I pulled off a layer of potatoe, then dill pickle, then onion, then jalapeño, then a giant strip of chicken breast. All of the layers repeated again followed by and another potatoe skeward to the end. I have to admit that I had never tried one anywhere else before. The potato at the center was not cooked as tender as the others were on the k-bob, but the rest was rest was really good. The Chicken breast strips were huge, moist, and tender. While I was there, they had a constant stream of local customers picking up orders to go.
