Log Jam

Stopped in last Saturday for a quick lunch with my husband, place was moderately busy, as expected for a weekend. We chose to sit at the bar and were promptly greeted by the bartender (s). I had the fish tacos, he had a spicy steak wrap. We shared some delicious cheese curds for an appetizer. The tacos were decent, steak wrap was even better. My husband said the wrap was better than some steak burritos that he has had. Things went south when I was starting to get full and started people watching a bit. Not sure if it was the owner, but there was a gentleman sitting at the bar with 2 – 3 kids that were interacting with the staff (mainly servers). The staff seemed friendly and positive with the kids, which is great, until they started hugging, throwing around high fives etc… then immediately grabbing plates to bring to their waiting tables. Yes, immediately, without washing their hands. I then noticed the lack of uniforms among the staff. Servers were wearing stocking caps, athletic style head bands, and scarves (thick scarves that you would wear for warmth). I observed, on several occasions, servers adjusting these accessories, touching their hair, all while waiting to grab their orders as they were coming up. Again, no hand-​washing taking place. My husband started to give me a hard time, because the more I looked the more unsanitary situations I found. Sigh, I hate seeming like I am nitpicking, but I’ve worked in the food industry, I know there is room for improvement, especially where safety and illness is concerned. On the way out, after seeing enough, I watched a bartender restock one of his bar veggies by reaching into the economy sized tub with his bare hands. At that point I don’t even care if he washed his hands before or after, it’s just unnecessarily barbaric. Have a little class and respect the intelligence of your patrons.

We drove from Chicagoland to Minneapolis, this place is about 7 mins from I-​94, near collage campus… DEFINITELY WORTH IT!
We’ll be back if we find ourselves in the area…

Great downtown atmosphere, delicious food, stellar drink options and top it off with awesome service — what’s not to love at the Log Jam!
Friday night — brief wait for a booth so we hopped up to the bar for a drink. Yes please, very healthy beer selection and attentive bar service. Would have enjoyed staying at the bar longer but booth was ready to go!
Our server was on point, very polite, accommodating and prompt. Friday night fish fry was piping hot and exactly what we had been looking forward to.
From hostess to bartender to server, the SERVICE here was fantastic. The Log Jam is doing it right.

Great beer selection in the food is pretty good, a nice family restaurant/​bar atmosphere. A nice patio in the back as well

First time here, and I know whenever we’re in town visiting our college student we will be back. The Bloody Mary was spicy and the chaser was a local brew, Farmer’s Daughter. All on point. The Jerk Burger was delicious, and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten better fries. All in all a great dinner.

Best food in town, and large beer selection. We have yet to have bad food or service.

Accidental find. Further off the highway than we wanted but glad we did. Burgers and caprese grilled cheese were great. Bartender is exactly what you want. Tentative, friendly and informative.

Sports bar atmosphere, packed, college crowd mostly on Sun. night at 6pm. Fabulous beer selections — Dogfish 90 minute IPA on tap, try to find that somewhere else! Salmon sandwich was top shelf, a couple crumbles of bacon made it a home run. Fish tacos were excellent, fresh, crunchy, just a tad of heat. Service a bit slow, typical sports bar loud. If you’re heading past on 94, a great stop.

My jerk burger was very good. The service was also very good. The buffalo chicken wrap was to spicy for my daughter but good. The soup was good. The beer batter fries were awesome. Good beers on tap. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Good atmosphere and outdoor seating is available too. Food is pretty good and beer selection is better than most. Bloody Mary’s have a lot of fixings. Not on the regular menu, but they make a good peanut butter burger and fish tacos if you ask. Service is usually pretty good.

A little pricey but good food. I suppose since the restaurant is so close to campus the prices were a little high. The atmosphere was good and the service was also good.

Went here to try their breakfast the day after homecoming at 10:30 am with my family. Received our first plate at 12:00 and the rest of the plates 10 minutes later. We would have left but our server kept saying it was almost ready. She never refilled waters or coffee, and only offered 10% off our bill. Place was not busy, every worker looked hungover and the manager never came out to apologize. Food was not worth the hour plus wait and was very greasy and flavorless. Would have been better off going to Dennys.

Log Jam is another great place to eat in Menomonie. They use a lot of local ingredients and the prices are pretty decent for the quality of the food. I love that you can get fresh fruit as a side and it’s actually cut up fruit– not from a can like a lot of restaurants do. I love getting the Buffalo Chicken Wrap or the Salmon Sandwich. They have a patio out back that is great to sit at in the summer.
The bar scene at Log Jam is alright. I personally don’t think the specials are that great, but I usually go out on Saturdays when they have $ 4 Long Islands, which is decent if you like them (I’m not a fan). They do have a great selection of craft beer on tap. I recommend the Monk’s Flemish Sour Ale if you’re looking for something unique, although it is a pricier brew at $ 5 a glass.

My friend and I stopped in a few days ago after stopping by the Lucette Brewery. We only had a pint each… but liked the establishment and our server was attentive and well informed regarding the beers on tap. If I find myself in Menomonie again, I will certainly stop back in!

The Log Jam is a pretty typical college-​town sports bar that does their best to appeal to a wider audience. They have a varied and ample selection of craft beers and an above average bar menu. I have never been disappointed by a visit to the Log Jam.
Order a flight of beer next time you’re there, and try out some local craft beers or some beers that you have never tried before.

Have eaten here a couple of times. Great proximity to campus and the food is good quality… good selections. It is campus bar — like at times.

I’m giving this place 5 stars based on the quality of their food, service, and location. If it was in the Twin Cities, it would be 4 stars because the «dining room» area could be prettier. But it’s in Menomonie, WI, so you can’t have super high expectations for anything. I digress.
The food is fabulous. They take the simplest ingredients and make them wonderful. I don’t know how they get their grilled chicken sandwich so perfect and juicy every single time. It’s among the best grilled chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had, and it honestly just has grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce, and mayo on it. The buns they use are the best. Also, their fries are addictive, so if you’re on a diet then beware.
They offer the best drinks in Menom as well. Great beer selection and cocktails! The atmosphere is nice during peak hours, but a little dull during midafternoon when not many people are in. I definitely recommend this place!

As a University of Wisconsin — Stout graduate (I’ve been out for 2 years) I have to say that I genuinely miss this bar. It’s not only a bar but in my opinion has some of the best food in town.
Their wraps are magnificent, but my two favorite items on the menu are the Salmon Sandwich and in the winter their chili and grilled cheese really hits the spot.
Their nightly specials are pretty amazing as well. Mojito Monday’s (and 2-​for-​1 Tuesdays) were my favorite nights of the week. They have a huge beer selection and have a «Run the Rail» offer, where you get a punch card and if you try each one of their tap beers you get a t shirt.
Whenever I find myself back on UW-Stout’s campus chances are I’ll be making an appearance at Log Jam.

I’m a big fan of a broad selection of beer, and Logjam does not disappoint. Their food is pretty good too, so it’s a great «dinner» joint, as well as a great bar. I’ve also had lunch there, as they have a good number of sandwiches.
The ambience inside is also nice — lots of wood and a darkened feel throughout, with a long bar. Their patio in the back is actually quite nice — they’ve tried hard to make it enjoyable, while being in a back parking lot (think high fences, nice umbrellas, and lots of plants/​flora). I had lunch there today, and ordered their «English Burger», which is supposedly award winning. I’m not sure why, as the only thing that was different on it than a normal burger was a «special sauce». Plus, the burger was unfortunately a bit dry. The fries were nice though — and they give you a choice of a few different types of fries (or even homemade chips or a fruit cup). I think this will continue to be one of my «go-​to» places for bar food or a wide selection of beers.
