I like dashi sushi food. Their kichen food is good specially nabe udon is the best! Rolls are tasty with fresh fish. Their salmon is very fresh and i enjoy it all the time.

This has got to be the worst sushi i have had in my 49 years of eating sushi… my mom is Japanese!!! Every cheap short cut was taken… the sushi rice not properly seasoned or even season with rice wine vinegar at all. The tempura batter was like flour, NOT tempura batter, the shrimp was so bad, it put a knot in my stomach! The Unagi had to be good since it comes from a can. but they didnt grill it! The stick of crab had an after taste. The green tea tasted like hot water. 0 stars! Come one, this location is walking distance from Facebook corporate headquarters, get it together!

The price was unbelievable high especially for lunch time. The service had long nails not sure his nails touched the miso soup or not when he brought it to us. I ordered combo sashimi. That was disaster. Really not fresh at all. I’m a fish lover. I even could not finish and left the half. Will never come back again.

Fresh fish daily! Can’t ever go wrong. Midweek dinner is quiet and not too crowded, as on weekends. I just LOVE this place.

Horrible. I ordered all this 4 sushi rolls for the price $ 52 for lunch and it was horrible. Not fresh at all. It’s sad the food went down. I would come pre FACEBOOK and the quality was better and POSTFACEBOOK the quality SUCKS.!!

The sushi here is passable — freshness is okay but definitely can be better. The rice is not done very well, and doesn’t have much of the sushi-vinegar taste that I enjoy. The rolls are reasonably well-priced(had the spicy tuna), but pretty mediocre. There aren’t many better options in the area for Japanese food though, so I’d recommend only if going slightly further out(e.g. Mountain View) isn’t an option. Service is decent, restaurant clean, and the place wasn’t crowded when I visited.

Your regular average sushi place. Service was below average. Prices are pretty high and fish quality was not memorable at all.

While this is not the absolute best sushi I’ve ever had, I work close by and come here often. They have a variety of different rolls which helps keep lunch ever-changing and never boring. The quality of fish they use is very fresh and the prices are fair. The staff is really nice, the facility is decently clean… But parking really SUCKS! The small shopping plaza is extremely busy and lacks parking. I’ve parked on the street(on Hamilton). If you are thinking about coming here for lunch, try to get here between 11:30-noon to get better parking options.

Not too busy during lunch. Walk in ok. Lots of bento box options. Sushi is good, on the large side. Not a fan of the pork rice bowl, the meat seemed it was lower quality.

Called for a take-out order and asked if they had tonkatsu ramen on the menu. The lady said ‘no,’ hesitated and asked another person(should’ve been suspicious at that point…) She later came back and said we could order tonkatsu ramen. The result? An overpriced meal that tasted like store-brought, instant ramen(I’ve had too many of those as a college student). The«broth» was horrendous. It tasted like they were too cheap on the instant ramen soup mix and only put in half of it. Noodles were soggy. Some bland pieces of chicken was thrown in amongst unidentifiable vegetables. Absolutely terrible. If you don’t have a menu item, just tell me that you don’t have it.

Dashi is a decent sushi spot in Menlo Park. As good as you’re ever gonna get in this part of town. When there’s business guests stopping by it’s just a phone call, drive and sit while you find a spot to park away. I wouldn’t recommend grubhub to order as presentation may get to you a bit skewed — best to pick up yourself. Oh don’t order any tempura it will not keep its crunchy texture best not to spend $$ on that. Typical order: Edamame 2 orders of gyoza Green or seaweed salad Miso soup for 6 Plate of rice Plate of chicken teriyaki Plate of salmon teriyaki Playboy roll Xxx roll 49ers Dragon roll Phili roll Cali Array of sashimi + extra condiments like spicy mayo, wasabi, soy sauce and ginger I try to order the day before or as soon as they open to have it good and ready to pick up around 11 or so.

This place was really good! Came here for lunch after checking out Facebook and taking pics in front of the sign :) It’s small inside but we were greeted immediately and seated right away. The menu has a lot of specialty rolls to choose from which is great because that is exactly what we wanted. Boyfriend and I ordered 2 rolls each and they were huge! We’re used to all you can eat sushi in Vegas and these rolls were WAY bigger than what we’re used to, we couldn’t finish our rolls and had to take some to go. We actually would have been fine with getting 3 rolls total to split. I loved their salmon it tasted extremely fresh, and we both loved their spicy tuna, just the right amount of spiciness and very flavorful. Service was excellent– very efficient, attentive and friendly. It was a good lunch experience.

Sushi Dashi is an all-around a delicious dining experience. The owner Jon is meticulous with his fish quality and fish selection. I am completely loyal after 11 years of being a customer. The second time I went, I ordered salmon sashimi but they didn’t have any. Jon told me that the salmon delivery was not up to his standards that morning so he rejected it. I was impressed that a new(at the time) sushi restaurant would risk not having salmon(one of the biggest sellers) to offer customers in order to preserve quality. After that I knew anything I ever ate would be safe, top grade and incredibly yummy. I highly recommend Sushi Dashi, for a quick lunch or special occasion dinner, and everything in between.

My friend and I were pretty hungry after visiting IKEA right before closing. It was almost 9pm and I wanted soup. What soup restaurant would be open at that time? Ooo how about udon? I searched on Unilocal and found Dashi, which has four stars and closes at 10pm. I found a photo of some udon and we drove over. Upon entering the lot, I noticed the place was completely empty! We were the only customers at 9pm on a Saturday. The lady that served us was very polite and had a smile on her face each time she refilled our tea, which was frequently. She asked us how we were doing at an appropriate time. After we got our menus, a single customer came in and ate at the small sushi bar. No one else came in after that. I noticed the decent selection of specialty sushi rolls and got excited. I ordered the Dashi house roll along with my chicken udon. The roll had shrimp tempura and sliced imitation crab inside, topped with fresh salmon and tuna, along with crab salad plus masago eggs to finish it off. Not bad for $ 16. This place seems expensive, IMO. A combination dinner with two choices is $ 22! However, I haven’t seen the portion size. My bowl of udon was priced fairly at $ 10, and the noodles were perfect– al dente: had a slight chewiness and not too soft. They used sliced chicken breast, which I liked. I’m glad they put in a lot of seaweed and the sliced fried tofu wrapper on top. The broth kind of tasted off to me, but that’s probably because of my cold. My friend got the chicken katsu; they gave a good amount for $ 15. Miso soup, salad, and rice were included. She didn’t want her salad so I ate it haha. They use a sweet mayo based dressing on top of iceberg lettuce, slice of tomato, and cucumbers. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this place, but if you’re in the area, craving some Japanese food, and don’t mind paying a bit extra, stop by. I imagine this place gets busy during work day lunches.

I was really excited to see such a highly rated sushi spot so close to where I live, and Dashi did not disappoint. The menu is extensive, with hot dishes and noodle soups if you’re not the mood for sushi. Everything is very reasonably priced, and at the end of the meal I felt I would have paid a lot more for the same sushi if it were in a restaurant in SF. I ordered a mini-feast: seaweed salad, salmon skin hand roll, sashimi dinner, amaebi and uni. Everything came out quickly from the kitchen and from the sushi chef, and the portions were generous. I think you can judge a sushi place based on how good the miso is, and Dashi’s miso was very flavorful. The cuts of fish for the sashimi dinner were big, and the textures of the fish were fabulous. Everything tasted very fresh and tender. The uni was the real standout. The texture and flavor were superb — sometimes uni can taste really good but be a little too ‘runny’ — but this was well prepared and the pieces were whole and easy to grab. That was a treat. The sweet shrimp were also great, and the chef gave me an extra piece because he said they were a little small. I really enjoyed my meal there, and the chef, John, was happy to tell me more about the fish they serve. This is definitely my go-to sushi place from now on.

Stopped here for a quick lunch since it’s down the street from my office. Sat at the sushi bar and ordered their hamachi, maguro, and sake nigiri as well as their spicy tuna roll topped with seaweed salad(forgot the name). Food came out quick and the nigiri sushi was fresh with generous cuts of fish. The spicy tuna roll with seaweed salad was nothing special, but still tasty and good quality. It is a little expensive for what you get($ 26 total), but because the quality was good I’m ok with going here when I need my sushi fix.

I got a small sushi roll for $ 15 that was not enough food for lunch. I wish they put the number of pieces of sushi on their menu like at other sushi restaurants. I’m not totally quantity over quality, but it wasn’t by any means amazing sushi either. The Raider roll is large in diameter and includes tempura shrimp, unagi, avocado, and tobiko. It was average in ingredients and flavor, but even more painfully only maybe 5 pieces and I still felt hungry after eating it. I can’t see how Dashi gets away with charging so much. I know that their bento boxes are popular and maybe those constitute a whole meal for ~$ 13 – but if that’s the case, they should price their items correspondingly so that two small half-meal sushi rolls would sum to a comparable price. The sushi combos are more sushi pieces for the price of a lunch but from what I could tell they consisted of primarily California rolls and other such low-quality sushi. The poor Silicon Valley employees in the area must not have many options.

They have the worst quality fish ever. The Chirashi is not fresh and absolutely disgusting. Shame on you Dashi! I’ve been ordering udon here since forever, and this is my first time trying their sashimi/sushi and it is absolutely awful. The fish was totally unfresh. Seriously for the price of $ 18.99– this type of quality is not acceptable. If I ever come back, I will only be sticking to the veggie udon(which is not that great, but good enough when I need hot soup since it is close to my work).
