This is a very pretty little dog park with one section for all dogs. Has a double gate, 4 foot fences, fresh water, chairs, a bench, good parking and right off Hwy 101. I liked it very much. It is a bit small but enough for my dog to run, there were no other dogs at that time so I can’t comment on other dogs. It does the trick for us and is just a couple blocks off the main street in town. My only concern is not being able to see to the ground on the back side regarding the fence with all the weeds there. My dogs breed is not known for coming back if they get out so its something that is a must have. I do not know that there are holes, it looks pretty solid, but I would have to check if I went back again. We were just there on a short holiday so I doubt I will be there anytime soon.

Who would have thought a dog park in Mendocino? Stumbling across this little dog park was just what the puppy needed. Luckily we discovered it via Unilocal(shout out to Unilocal!) It has everything thing one would need at a dog park, double gates, garbage cans, plastic bags, water and plenty of running room. It is also nicely located at the end of a road. The dog park is rough around the edges but that is what makes it special. Unlike other polished dog parks that are kept like a golf course. This is a beach dog park. Coming from the coast line, it is what a coastal dog park typically looks like. If traveling or a local, its a great place to bring ones four legged friend.

This new dog park just opened on June 11, 2011 and we were lucky to run into a local dog-friendly native who told us about it. It’s not on any Internet sites yet. Park by the basketball courts in the back and look for the wooden dog park gate at the rear of the community center property. While I love community driven dog parks, I am hesitant to honestly say that the«park» could best be described as a weed patch. The water was not turned on so we could not fill bowls for the dogs. Big and little dogs are together in one area. I’m sure this will be improved over time. They seem to have an active, dynamic group on Facebook. A weedy dog park is better than no dog park but we spent 30mins picking burrs out of Josie’s fur after leaving. Lots of parking and no one was around on a late Saturday afternoon.
