After a day at the pool we stopped by this Mexican restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was delicious. The grande steak quesadilla had tons of steak. The kids loved the cheese dip. The carne Asada and el pastor tacos were great. The steak fajitas were good, but it has more peppers and onions than meat. I did not care for the rice or guacamole personally but others in my party liked it. They had a sign that they are updating this place and it could definitely use it. I come back again for take out.

Greeted at the door & seated by a smiling & friendly gringa. +1 Waitress arrived promply, gave us mediocre salsa & crispy chips, took our drink orders, & returned within minutes with them. 1 blended strawberry Margarita &1 classic margarita. +1 Although, they tasted like a mix. Ordered a side of guacamole. MEH, very mediocre & flavorless. Added lime from my margarita & Tapatio from the table. Mucho better. Placed order, and it arrived REALLY quickly. Chilaquiles Calientes, pretty good, muy spicy. Wife did not enjoy her fajitas. I thought they tasted fine. All that aside, the staff was outstanding! The drinks & food, so so. I may return with other people and give it another try.

This is my least favorite Mexican restaurant in the richmond area. The salsa is mediocre as was everything we ordered.

Sought a recommendation for a nearby restaurant for late lunch and chose Don Pedro 2 from the Unilocal. We enjoyed the food very much. The hostess/server was very courteous and our service was excellent. The portions were generous and well priced.

The best thing about this restaurant is the Toro Elegre. The hard tacos get soft and fall apart when they get cold and the meat is not seasoned. I do believe they also charge you a takeout fee as well. The sauce on the enchilada supreme is disappointing and not very good at all and the dish was a let down. Once again the Toro Elegre is the best dish here.

This is legitimately the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life, with the only possible exception being American City Diner in Chevy Chase. I ordered shrimp fajitas and queso dip. The queso dip was indistinguishable from lukewarm skim milk. While this was a slight step down from the red«salsa»(which another reviewer notes may have soggy chips in the ingredients list), it was a close call. We could have smelled the shrimp fajitas from a mile away, and trust me that that was not a good thing in this case. My friend and I opted out of eating our entrees because with a long car ride ahead, neither one of us could risk the seemingly inevitable food poisoning. We went to Sheetz and got what seemed like a five star meal after this ordeal. Might be worth mentioning that I find it terrifying that there’s a Don Pedro 1 out there– one Don Pedro is one too many.

Always consistent. Good, solid fare. As noted by others, it’s not authentic Mexican, but I enjoy the meals I have here. I’ve been happy with the tacos, the taco salad, the enchiladas, and the burritos. Chips have been warm and fresh. I like the salsa, though it may be too mild for some.

Pleasantly surprised. 5 of us adults came in at 6pm for dinner. We were immediately seated, given menus and drink orders taken. She came back with chips, drinks and was ready to take our order. When our order arrived everything was right, hot and tasty. We’ll definitely be back for more.

Thank you Richmond for supporting this family gem. This was a repeat of our meal in 2012. We did a complete redo except we had wine instead of beer. Everything was as good as we tasted two years ago. Good quality and value. Please Richmond, continue to support this family establishment.

Yet another bland Americanized Mexican place. This experience took bland to a new low. Now I’m not one of those people who enjoys mouth-burning hot food so it’s not that. I had one of those burrito /taco combos. The chicken was that same bland boiled meat stuff. The beans and rice had zero flavor. Don’t get me wrong. The food wasn’t bad tasting. It just had not taste. The place is like all the other Casa this or that’s where they have food in the kitchen pre-made sitting in steam platters and they just plate stuff. I would much prefer to have my food cooked to order. But maybe I expect too much. The place it self had a bad odor as soon as we walked in. It was similar to when I had some mysterious rotting food in my own refrigerator once. I just wish Mexican places around where I live and work would actually serve real Mexican food!

Solid meal, nothing fancy but enjoyable. I wouldn’t take a first date here, but I would do any date after the first. Ordered a burrito stuffed with classic flavors and was excited to eat it. 30 $ for a dinner for two. It’s the price expect these nights. It’s close to my neighborhood, I’ll be back :)

My favorite local place! A fabulous family owned establishment in Hanover county. I highly recommend that you try it, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve been eating here for years & I’ve never had a bad experience! It really is a fiesta for your mouth!

So glad my parents took us here this evening after we couldn’t get into the pizza place in the same strip mall. First things first, it’s not authentic Mexican. But if you’re expecting that in Mechanicsville, you might want to keep looking, because I can guarantee you that the other Hanover choices are not going to be better — in our experience, in fact, they will be worse. Much worse. The service was great, the food was tasty, and the prices more than reasonable. A-OK indeed!

OK I just love this restaurant. On the surface it’s nothing special, just a cliched Mexican restaurant in a little shopping center, but the staff is friendly. the service is quick and accurate and the food is plentiful, piping hot, and delicious. To me it’s like your favorite Italian-American spaghetti house or «red-sauce joint,» that is to say not incredibly authentic or innovative, but homey and delicious, a place you like to come back to over and over. They are very generous with the warm thin tortilla chips and have a variety of hot sauces. My favorites so far have been the carnitas, the carne asada, the enchilada and tamale combo. My daughter loves the hard tacos and my wife had an excellent enormous chicken quesadilla the other day. I would be happy to eat here once a week. Oh yeah, and they have Dos Equis on tap for next to nothing and serve it is icy mugs. Can’t beat that!

Poured out the salsa into the bowl and a wet soggy chip flowed out. The thought that the salsa could be recycled really grossed me out. Freaked out my wife. Our manners were the only thing keeping me from walking right then and there. If that’s the way they cut corners I wonder what we can’t see. I barely ate anything and left quickly NEVER to return.

We eat here fairly often for quick, close to home Mexican. Service is ALWAYS prompt and excellent. They’re patient if you want to try out your lousy Spanish ;-). Food is consistent.

This is a cutesy Mexican restaurant tucked away in one of Hanover’s shopping center that seem to be disappearing all over Richmond. It’s more spacious inside than it may appear outside. The staff was friendly… the chips were warm and fresh, though the salsa wasn’t a standout. I sampled my friend’s frozen margarita, which was pretty good. If this place had a sangria margarita, I would’ve had my own! Now…I believe I mentioned in a previous review that Mexican food is THAT craving for me. If someone mentions Mexican or if I see it in a magazine or a commercial, I have to have it. So it comes as no surprise that my mouth was watering as I quickly searched for any dish wish that delicious shredded pork in it. For a split second, I considered getting one of the enchilada dishes, but when I asked the server for her recommendation, she said carnitas(well, I tried)! The food was good… and I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures(sorry). It was the right temperature and the right portion size… I just wish the meat had been seasoned. It was quite bland. To make matters worse, when I asked for tomatillo(green) salsa, the server came up empty handed! *insert sad face* All in all, it was a relatively enjoyable visit. The food was quickly prepared and the prices were reasonable. I’d recommend it if you happen to be in this neck of the woods.

The service was nice. The margarita’s were strong. However, the food and the menu were nothing special. It was good, and that was all the place attempted to be. Hell, they are in a stripmall in the burbs, so you shouldn’t have high expectations.
