Hello my name is John I recently visited this location I can’t comment on the food but I was present on a Friday night witch is karaōke night I was told by many of my family members that frequent this establishment and only had great things to say about it. Unfortunately I have to differ. I went there with my lady and niece who are of Italian decent to sing and enjoy a night of fun and laughter. I must say that the establishment is very nice the karaōke person was very professional the people were very pleasing yet I came across an issue that has stayed with me since then. There was a bar tender that ignored me like I had a disease. I’m from a Hispanic decent yet I hate to think this was the reason but as I give it thought there was no other. He ignored me all night I noticed it and my family members did also. It’s been awhile since I have felt this indifference. My bill was 100.00 in liquor alone. There was a lady who went out of her way to notice our needs. I tipped 20% upon leaving only to see she is to share her tip with this individual. I am professional and conduct myself as such. As a hobby I also do karaōke shows with Dj music and at times comedy shows. I’m presently looking for a location and when I do I intend to treat all with the fairness and greatness that comes with our existence. Thank you for reading but be aware that discrimination comes in many ways and forms.

Wonderful experience with three other couples. Everyone loved what they ordered. The veal chop is superb and I loved the sweet potato ravioli. Going back in a couple of weeks. Don’t understand the negative reviews.

Love this little gem of a place. Every time I visit my friend who lives in Red Bank, Bart’s is definitely on my to-do list. The restaurant is actually an old church which gives it so much charm and history. The staff is super friendly and the owners always remember me when I come in. Makes me feel like I’m part of the family! The sweet potato ravioli is top notch and made from scratch by the owner himself. Doesn’t get any better than that. If you are looking for authentic Italian food — this is the place!

Bart’s has a very different atmosphere since the restaurant was previously a church so I did not feel like I was eating at a restaurant. The food here was okay and the food took a while, but overall it was okay, but could have been better.

I received a gift certificate for this establishment. Me and my girlfriend decided to give it a try, considering the certificate was for $ 100. When we arrived, the ambiance was very strange. The fact that it’s a church was not the strange part. The inside was very dark, dull, and outdated. The hostess/server took forever to seat us. Once seated, we were served table bread, which was stale, and probably older than I am. I have to say, we ordered a caprese dish for appetizer, and it was extremely good. For our entrees, my girlfriend ordered the sweet potato raviolis, and I ordered some broccoli pasta dish. First off, my girlfriends dish, was pathetic. The texture was all wrong. The flavor tasted like the sweet potato has been sitting for years. It was terribly disgusting. The pasta was not THAT bad. Also, the salads that were served with our entrée, were a disgrace. The«warm spinach salad» resembled vomit. I probably wouldn’t ever come back to this establishment.

I must say, all of the food was good. The building is pretty and could have tons of charm. Everything else was sub par. All of the décor is so out of date that it’s uncomfortable. No restaurant should have green carpet. They also need a real wait staff. I Don’t mean to nitpick. It is just that this establishment has the potential to be great, but falls so short. It is a little disappointing

We had wanted to try this place for a while but when we finally did, it was more than a little disappointing. The place is a little too old fashioned, although the building and architecture was great. And the wait staff was friendly and attentive. But when my meal came out it left MUCH to be desired. The salad that came with my entrée was literally just a tiny plate of iceberg lettuce and a couple tomato slices. I had ordered the braciole special, and halfway through the meal I noticed a small piece of metal in my mouth. I told and showed the waitress, who was apologetic and understanding. But when she came back, she said the chef apologized and said that he could give me the entrée for half price. I felt kind of insulted that they thought someone finding a piece of METAL in their meal can be solved simply with a quick apology and half off their entrée. I wasn’t looking for a $ 0 bill or anything, but really??? And honestly, even without the piece of metal in it, the braciole had some serious issues being too dry and covered in a sauce that tasted like it came out of a tin can.

Have not been there since the last Chef left and what a freakin mistake that was to let him go, I was a sort of regular but the food out right was terrible this time around, I don’t know where to start. The service mind you was great and the drinks a great pour every time. I hate to say the owner can get a little over bearing once he has a few in him but norm for the course. Can some let me know where the previous Chef went? Returned on a whim friends insisted and I can say this is one of the worst shit holes I have set foot in. From the stink, the filthy bar and God knows what is hiding in the kitchen I refused to eat and with good reason, my friend had a stuffed pork chop and I likened it to getting sushi from a gas station. He paid the price the following day becoming pretty ill that evening from both ends if you know what I mean. Typical amateurs mistake, dummy cook probably stuffed pork chop days maybe a week before and pushed to sell instead of dumping it. Notice I said cook and not chef. I can assure you I would not drink a glass of tap water from this place, if you go get a beer that you know has a lid on it and I suspect the health dept will shut this hole down soon enough.

What an adorable place. Old converted church with so much character. I went there for lunch and since we got there early we were the only people there for about 20 min which was fine with us. We got some lamb dish which was nice, not great. The server and wait staff were very friendly. I will go back and sample more dishes. I think this place would be great for a large dinner party.

never ate at barts, but stopped in for their wed-frid lunch specials. the lunch specials were delicious. i love bqked manicotti, my grandma makes it fresh… whoever does it there does it amazing. i am very picky with my italian foods and everyone at my tables loved the manicotti. five dollars for 3 crepes of manicotti, cant beat it… their blue cheese sauce was out of this world and went well with buffalo chicken strips… great price and amt of servings

Bart’s is housed in the chapel of an old converted church building. This adds a nice touch of character to an otherwise pedestrian dining experience. We have been several times, and the food is always cooked well, if without creativity. The wine list needs serious work. Very limited selections. The expansive bar area, in what could have been the community gathering room, looks like it could be a fun space for more informal gatherings or drinks after work. Bart’s is a nice place to have in the Matawan area, and is a good go-to spot for a reliable dining experience.
