This is by far the worst brisket I ever had in my life. They gave you a lot for the platter size — too bad most of it was greasy fat. Someone doesn’t know what they are doing. The green beans tasted fresh, just a dash of salt could go a long way. The Mac and cheese is atrocious. It taste like dry, clumpy noodles. I barely taste the cheese. I’m not a fan of the restaurants here. I wasn’t pleased with my steak sandwich at the water park either. I rather go to a chain(which I’m typically against).

Love staying at Massanutten Resort, did not love this place. Had high expectations… looks nice, smells good. Service was sub-par at best. We arrived to pickup order when they said it would be ready, only to wait another nearly 30 minutes because they«lost» the salmon. Lots of people standing around waiting to order and the employees never helped them. Saw lots of walkouts. Food was decent, may have been better when it was warm. I’ll stick to Hanks or Log Cabin next we are there and want BBQ.

First off we only had the bbq… I have had better BBQ in third world countries. Where should I start, the overwhelming taste of Charcoal starter fluid on the food was like they sprayed the food with it. The brisket was mostly fat, as other reviewers posted, but it was also way to thick. The chicken wasn’t terrible but honestly the only way to really screw up chicken is to over cook it or under cook it. I didn’t have an issue with the atmosphere, it was like you were at a family cook out, only problem is they let the crazy uncle cook. Save your money and your time.

Not ready for prime time. Disappointed each time I come. I don’t think they know what they’re doing.

This restaurant is location in the Massenutten resort check-in building. We were looking for another restaurant and stumbled upon this one. Walking up to it from the parking lot, this place smells fantastic. When walking in, you see that it is very bare bones. The atmosphere is lackluster. My friend ordered a pizza and a salad with BBQ vinaigrette dressing. The pizza was fine. The salad was fresh. The dressing was just okay. My husband had the BBQ sandwich. He enjoyed it after putting the sauce all over it to moisten it up. My son had a hot dog and fries. Standard. The cornbread was nothing special. It tasted like the kind that they would have delivered from their supplier, already baked. The mac and cheese was tasteless. It was like putting a block of room temperature Velveeta in your mouth. Service was okay. The place didn’t scream«clean». I’m sure there are nicer places around.

This review is only for the BBQ portion of the menu as we didn’t try the pizza. The Pulled Pork was dry and lacking in seasoning. We added some of the house sauce to it but the sauce was a weird take on BBQ Sauce. The brisket was not prepared properly. They need to teach their pitmaster how to properly trim a brisket. Each slice of meat was 50% fat. Furthermore the meat was very tough which indicates that it was not cooked low and slow enough. The collards were tasty and seasoned properly. The staff were friendly as well. These are the two things saving this from a one star review.

Awesome ribs! Vey meaty, smoky and well seasoned! Excellent! Pulled pork was pretty good too, especially with the original bbq sauce! It was moist and smoky! Pulled, smoked chicken was just ok. Bbq sauce saved the chicken because it was unseasoned. Fries were great! Good portion sizes for the money. We’ll definitely be back for the ribs and fries!-

Don’t come here and expect quick or polite service. 45 minutes to get a pizza. There was a lot of upset people waiting even longer for other food. When they would question the long wait, the 2 women behind the counter would give a poor attitude answer. Plus, the pizza was a cardboard box. Horrible. I’d rather eat out of a vending machine before I went back to that place.

We woke up from relaxing naps at nearly 6 and realized we should feed our kids dinner. Reviews were very mixed, but this place was close and easy, so we ordered brisket pizza and chicken fingers platter to go. The cashier acted like it was a big imposition to get to-go sauces for our food, when I think it’s completely normal to either get packets or have little plastic cups filled up without the attitude. We got back to our room 1 mile away and the fries were average crinkle cut — meh. Chicken fingers were a 6⁄10 — flavor good, crust fine. The pizza was pretty terrible. The meat was dry and the pizza was so greasy that I(pregnant, WANT pizza) and my 9 year old didn’t even finish a single piece. DH had some mostly because we don’t like to waste food. Crust was pretty bland.

Still a lack of places with waitress service at Massanutten. This to is a quick serve establishment. The BBq actually was really bad. I had to send back my ribs as they were to tough to eat and the brisket they gave me in return was no better. I don’t know if cheap meat or they just aren’t smoking it long enough. I was very disappointed. I will not return for the BBq. If staying at resort and have to go back I would probably just get the pizza which was decent enough. There is a bbq place at bottom of mountain I have been to before that was much better.

Very impressed with the food and prices. The first day, we had Bbq chicken platter, chicken sandwich, and pork sandwich. It was good and decent portion. The sauces were good. Only complaint was that the meat was not pipping hot. The side salad is a good portion and can be a meal too. It was fresh and crisp. The sides were hot and tasty. No refills on tea or drinks. We had the pizza the second day ans the dough tasted handmade and toppings were good. It’s at the bottom of the mountain so you have to plan accordingly. We ate breakfast at the ski lodge and think breakfast here would have been better but was pressed for time. Staff was decent. Not overly friendly or talkative but responsive and patient. Definitely worth checking out and we would come back

Virginia BBQ& Pizza replaced the Woodstone Deli that was in the Massanutten Woodstone check-in building. It is not full service so you order at the counter, pay and then pick up your food when it’s ready. You can eat there or take it out. Furnishings are basic with tables, chairs and some TVs. As with the previous deli, the order process was not great. We ordered a beef brisket platter, salad and andouille sausage sandwich. When we got the food there was no BBQ sauce so it took another trip up to request it(several varieties are available). For serious BBQ, the sauces should be out and available rather than only by request for small containers, and at least ask your preferences when taking the order. Otherwise the brisket was good but very fatty(not healthy but tasty); house salad was not very fresh(browned lettuce edges); sausage was okay, slightly spicy; coleslaw side was good but potato salad was somewhat bland. Serving sizes were good and consistent with the resort pricing. They also have breakfast which we did not try. This place is more convenient to those staying in the Woodstone or Regal Vista timeshares but it is about 4 miles down from the ski lodge and the units up on the mountain. Food is ok and this is one of just a few dining choices within the resort property.

Breakfast was decent(I had the ham sandwich) but the staff wasn’t super friendly and the wait was kind of long. The room feels so cheap and not really clean — would drive down the mountain instead of eating here again.

This is an update to a former post. Get a Pepperoni pizza or any of the pizzas as it is much better than taking a chance on the bbq. Crust is not too thin or too thick. It had a decent ratio of cheese & pepperoni and a good flavor. We also tried the Texas lollipops. The sausage was a little spicy; however, the crunchiness of the bacon down played the spiciness. If we ever go back, we’ll skip the bbq and stick with the pizza & Thunderbird Café!
