Great place, good food and fabulous service. If you are staying at Massanutten, it’s probably the best bet for dinner.

I had the sampler and it delicious. The ribs were well cooked and the Juniper BBC Sauce was a great addidtion. The price was within reason for such a great meal. The kids ate a lot for a small price. The brownie desert was warm and delightful, great ending for a great meal. The staff was welcoming.

We stopped in to this restaurant while staying at Massanutten and were disappointed with our meals. We dropped in for lunch on a Sunday, the restaurant wasn’t too crowded and service was pretty good. We started with Brunswick stew cups which were well prepared and tasted fine for a stew. It was when our pulled pork bbq meals came out that we became completely and totally disappointed with this barbecue restaurant. The pork was among the worst I’ve ever had and I’m not entirely convinced it wasn’t outright spoiled. We ate our sides and left the meat to be discarded. I’d typically give more stars to a restaurant given the other desirable aspects of our visit but this is a barbecue based establishment and their core product did not live up to expectations at all.

Hank’s BBQ is great food and it’s all delicious and Krystina was great! The hostess immediately makes you feel welcome. The small dining room is decorated nicely and feels very upscale. It may be the best restaurant in town. I’ll have to check out their sister restaurant Thunderbirds next!

Really good food. However, do not order a cocktail here. Do not order bourbon on the rocks. Do not, um, order bourbon neat. Go for beer or wine. Food is delicious.

For starters, there are not a whole lot of options in this area to eat. We landed here because of the reviews… Was thinking they are fairly high so let’s give it a try. The service is above average– the server Aaron was friendly and accommodating.
The food is average. Do not get the fried catfish because you will be disappointed by the fact that it is pre-​frozen then fried as opposed to fresh then fried. The salmon salad was good, the greens were tasty, and the shrimp and grits was a table favorite. There was an ant in my potatoes which just disturbed my entire dinner experience. Watch out to be sure you are not fighting with insects to finish off your meal.

We were looking for dinner near Massanutten and I’m glad we tried Hank’s. I had barbecue and my husband had ribs — they were both delicious. Our server was friendly and the restaurant was fun. We’d definitely eat here again if we are back I the area!

Really good bbq. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Walked right in and sat down.
Had the combo of brisket and pork, it was excellent and tasted delicious. Nice atmosphere and family friendly.
Deserts were really good too. A must if you are in the area.

Had dinner last night at Hanks with 9 people and every single person LOVED their dinner!!! Ribs were best ever! Everything is homemade including bread which was awesome! Order the shrimp and grits on the appetizer menu!!! Kristen provided perfect service! We can’t wait to return!

Had a terrific meal with authentic smoked ribs and brisket. The brisket was quite moist, although the side orders were a bit limited. That said, the meats were prepared perfectly and the sauces remarkably varied across the heat and sweet spectrum.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant for its family friendly, diverse menu.
Price was about right for what we’ve gotten. We’re comfortable for over an hour’s lunch owing to a relaxing atmosphere.

Ordered beer sample, delicious! Also ordered calamari and ribs everything is great!

BBQ ribs were phenomenal tonight. We went during happy hour and got half off appetizers. That’s pretty much what we had. Wings were the best. We got 3 different kinds and they were all delish! We are going back again and again.
Our server was friendly and on top of our needs.

Came here while I was in Massanutten. I had heard great things about this place so my expectations were high. I started with the Brunswick stew and it was OK. I’m used to less tomatoes. For my meal I ordered the ribs with the St. Louis rub, fried catfish, and collard greens for my side. The ribs were pretty dry and not very tender. The flavor was OK. The catfish were smaller than I was expecting, not much flavor and a little overcooked. The collard greens were OK not bad but nothing special. I would give them another try the next time I’m in Massanutten. Nothing was horrible, just nothing special.

Loved the food but the service made our night. Ask to be seated in Tiffany’s section. Amazing…

Ordered the sampler plater. Dry rub baby backs were excellent. Brisket and pork were very good. The deserts were to die for we had the apple pie, chocolate moose tort and the black berry peach tart.

Recommended by the B&B where we stayed, and it was a good choice. Had the sampler platter, which is a ton of food, with the orange Chipotle sauce. Everything was very good, and I liked the way they sliced the brisket, instead of shredding it. Service was great, and the atmosphere is good. Clearly a popular place in this area. We would go back again when in the area.

Came with family, so we were a party of 10. Ordered multiple dishes: calamari appetizer, pretzel appetizer, gumbo, ribs with fries, pesto grilled chicken, the naked burrito, grilled salmon, and a few all you can eat BBQ platters.
Pros:
— Decent service. We were a large party and our waitress was cool. She refilled our waters, gave us what we asked for, and didn’t make us wait. However, I will say that I think the restaurant needs more wait staff. Our waitress didn’t seem to get as much help as she needed.
— Good quality meat and food. Their BBQ sauce was pretty good, too. My husband definitely helped himself to the 2 types of sauce on the table for his meats.
Cons:
— The all you can eat BBQ platters only come with 1 side. Whenever the meat was refilled, the sides weren’t refilled.
— The BBQ platter is only brisket and pulled pork. It’s not a variety of meats.
— The menu variety is ok, but to be fair, they’re main focus is BBQ.
— The prices for the fishes and the seafood are high, especially given how little seafood is in the dish. My salmon was small and there were only like 5 shrimp in the gumbo, which is like $ 15.
— Checked in on Unilocal,which gave me a free appetizer coupon. However, I was not allowed to use it, because I could only use M-​F 11am-​4pm. I don’t like those limitations. Any coupons I’ve ever received on Unilocal during check in, I’ve always been able to use it at the same time. If you’re going to use Unilocal and encourage your customers to use it, don’t have limitations on the check in coupon.

By far the best food my family has come across in our years coming to Massanutten. We always seem to end up dissapointed, luckily this wasn’t the case with Hank’s. The ribs were cooked to perfection and the sauce was ok. The service here was great. Friendly staff and very attentive. I ordered the rib eye as well as the ribs. The steak was good, not the best I’ve had by any stretch of the imagination, but better than what I’ve had in this area. As a starter we odered the shrimp and grits and my God!!! I wish they had it as an entrée. This was the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had short of Charleston NC. overall I will definetly be coming back to Hank’s and sure my family and friends will follow.

The food here seems made from scratch. Once you walk in, you can smell the smoke in the air that someone’s been toiling over the smoker for a long time.
I ordered two types of wings… the dry rub and the buffalo. One big annoyance is that one order of wings only come with 6 «large» wings that weren’t that large. Unfortunately, I think the smoking process made the meat extra dry. I wasn’t too too impressed with the dry rub, as it seemed too sweet like a lot of brown sugar was used.
I then ordered a combo that consisted of two choices. I picked the dry rub ¼ rack and a sirloin steak. You get a side order with that and a salad for $ 2 extra. I wanted to get the salad but they didn’t offer the Caesar as a side.
Again, the dry rub was too dry. The meat was fall off the bone, but it lacked flavor. The server mistakenly gave us the whiskey bbq sauce and it was by far the best type of choice for the ribs. I highly recommend the whiskey bbq over dry rub. Other choices include a hoisin based sauce and some other sauce.
I also a beer sampler and I can say I wasn’t too impressed with any of them. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was good. It’s always good to dine in a non chain place that serves original fare.

First time here. We grabbed some grub on Sunday night as we were heading back home. We tried the nachos, ribs for two and their pecan pie.
The dry rub was good. A bit dry but good. The whisky bbq was sweet and yum!
We will definitely come again.
