Tonight is the first Friday in LENT and we decided to order food from CROWNPALACE. We were very disappointed because when I was placing the order for combination dishes, i explained that it was LENT and asked if they would substitute the pork fried rice and egg roll for shrimp fried rice and a shrimp egg roll. I was told NOSUBSTITUTIONS. I told them I would be willing to pay extra. Again I was t old no, we don’t make substitutions. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that the gentleman I was speaking to was the manager. I expressed my disappointment and told them they just lost a large order, and my patronage. You would think that restaurants would be aware of the holidays and food restrictions and be accommodating.

I would give 2 ½ stars… chicken royal. Chicken is fresh but overall nothing to it. Just a normal garlic and wine chicken. Sesame wonton… Uhmmm not good. Fried wontons with a non tasteful brown sauce Hot n sour soup… Average. Really nothing much to say about this place. I wouldn’t go back

Been here several times in the past over the course of 15 years or so. Every time, the food was pretty good, and the colors of the food were vibrant. However, went here a few days ago and immediately could tell that the food was bleh. The colors were dull, and overall, the food just tasted«off»…even the red bean soup given at the end of dinner was not sweet and had too much gelatin. The only thing good was the oranges, but then again, they don’t have to cook that in order to serve it. Most likely, they must have changed chefs. This food is geared towards people who aren’t around enough Chinese places to know good from bad… luckily, I’m not one of them.

This place does not think of its customers first… the host was busy and let us wait for over 20 minutes while we kept asking others to sit us down in an empty restaurant and we’re told we need to wait for the host… we were finely seated by a woman that had to ask his permission to do so… too bad I lost my appetite by then since I always wanted to eat there. .we walked out without being served or an apology from the host that just brushed me off when I complained to him…

Good Chinese food. Nice ambiance. Poor to average service. The dining rooms are large and comfortable. Very nice Asian influenced décor. Attractive outdoor garden. Food is good depending on what you order. I have been coming here for years and have found that the kitchen has not mastered every dish. Very good Dim Sum, could use more variety and is more expensive than other restaurants. Very crowded for Dim Sum, but, worth the wait.

The hubby loves his dim Sum, but it’s so hard to get good quality outside of chinatown. This place definitely fit the bill, but I think we hit it at a bad time. It does have pretty Good quality food. I especially loved the crab claw & fried rice. We came mid Afternoon on Sunday & were seated straight away in the front room. The downside is the service was lacking. Our plates were almost thrown at us, as We were rushed through for the first part, just to be ignored afterwards. We requested two more items, but gave up on them, as it took forever. Unfortunately, we had to leave before we could finish acquiring all the plates we wanted.

The best place for Sunday Dim Sum Brunch! Excellent selections and the regular menu is also available. Give it a try for Brunch — but make a reservation because it’s busy. YUM

The food from this place is tasteless. I got 5 different items from the menu and all of them were disappointing. Although the interior of the place is very nice and the employees were ok I’ve never had worse Chinese food. The shrimp fried rice was bland, dumplings were ordered pan fried and came out steamed. The shrimp was eh and the one positive thing about the food was the sweet and sour chicken was decent. For $ 40 this was just an awful experience. Since I’ve only ate here once so I’ll give it two stars instead of one.

Zero star, indeed! My worst nightmare experience ever! So apparently this place didn’t know how to manage the customers with reservation and those who just walk-in probably! So I went there with 5 of us, without making reservation and when I walked in with no one waiting in line but ended up I still didn’t get my table until an hour later just because they need to give the next available table to those who has reservation(fare enough)! Well, they could have informed me in the beginning that the restaurant is «almost-fully-booked» and there will be a how long and how long of wait! But, they did not! And well, they might as well put up a sign saying that«THERESTAURANTISBYRESERVATIONONLY!!» And the«so-called» manager came to speak to me, first without introduce himself when I kept asking him whether he’s the manager. I think that is rude! And of course he said this is how the restaurant run by the management! At last he just left without showing a little of sorry for making their customers waiting so long! Obviously their business has been so good and they don’t really care about losing some!

Well, once again I found myself dragged here by a family member. funny thing is that the person who wanted to come here didn’t stop complaining about it the last time we were here. That said, the food has sunk to an all time low. It was a Sunday afternoon and the place wasn’t very busy. The few that had wonton soup all said the noodles tasted like rubber. The entrees weren’t much better. I had the Grand Marnier shrimp. This has always been one of their better dishes and it was good as always. What I don’t like is that when you get it, it is just a plate of shrimp and nothing else. My son who had the Grand Marnier chicken, had a good mix of broccoli in there as well. I’m sure they would be able to add a vegetable of some sort to the shrimp dish without going broke! By the way, the chicken was overcooked and dry as a dead body. The wife had a Four Seasons type dish with lobster, chicken, pork, and beef. I tasted a piece of the lobster and expected immediate food poisoning! It was so dry and disgusting I had to spit it out. The rest of the dish wasn’t much better. This was a first for us not taking any food home because no one wanted to eat it again. As for the service, well it wasn’t a busy time and you always get the feeling they are rushing you. Then, you have 3 or 4 of the wait staff standing there staring at you as you are eating! I think 2 stars is being very kind on my part. You want a good Chinese meal? Go directly across Rt 79 to Sichuan Cottage. Where you will fins fresh food, friendly staff and a much more authentic meal.

I come here with my mom and some of our friends every couple months for dim sum on Sundays. It all happens so fast! Before we know it, we’ve eaten our weight in small pieces of food and we’re smiling, but STUFFED. There is a great variety of food and each person at the cart is more than happy to tell you what they have and what’s in it. I’m a sucker for the sticky rices(there’s 2 different kinds, I’ve seen), the bok choy(so garlicky, so good, don’t care what my breath is like after!), and the mango jello(not jello, but jello?) dessert.

This is probably the best Chinese that I’ve ever eaten in Jersey. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food, but this place changed my outlook. The quality of the food and the hospitality of the employees were great. The food portions are big enough for two people to share. The atmosphere is not like any other Chinese restaurants. It’s family dining style with a small bar.

Dim sum is such comfort food. This place does the job to satisfy the craving and on the cheaper side too. Variety is average and service is poor. I understand when it’s busy I’ll give it leeway. However more often than not one guy just doesn’t listen or tells us to ask another waiter.(Yes we know the difference between the waiters and those who serve from the carts, uniforms are the give away). We have to repeatedly ask for hot oil, drinks and even the check before actually getting it for the table. But I won’t stop coming because it’s the best option around freehold where I have family. If I had a choice I will drive the extra to Sunny Palace in east Brunswick for better service and better food.

Good dim sum as always! Every time we come visit our family in NJ from the city, we come here for dim sum. Compare to the debatable the best dim sum in the city — Golden Unicorn 麒麟金阁, the flavor is almost the same level. If Crown Palace can add Durian pasty, it’d be great. Large and clean dining room can host a lot of people and service is fast and attentive. We love this restaurant. If you want to go on holidays, best to call to make reservation.

This restaurant emphasis the importance of location. It is located a an area highly populated by Chinese and by default it is the go-to place for dim sum, banquets, etc. The food they offer is nothing to write home about. You can see that the management of the restaurant has no concern for the quality of food or has any intention to improve it. They have been churning out the same crap for years knowing that their patrons has really no other options with 30 minutes of this area. I am giving it 2 stars because most of the servers are really nice and friendly.

My family and I came to Crown Palace for a relative’s Red Egg and Ginger Party. I didn’t like how the service felt rushed — they cleared the dishes in between courses and before people finished each course. During the party, the restaurant had open bar so I got myself a Mai Tai and several Bubble Teas(which consisted of iced black milk tea with black pearls). Each table had a dish of pickled vegetables(mainly cabbage and carrots) and fried wonton strips served with duck sauce. In the buffett, there were trays of shumai and spring rolls, next to the sushi platter(consisting of tuna rolls, yellowtail scallion rolls, california rolls, and futomaki rolls). After socializing and snacking hour, they served each guest a red colored egg and red ginger, which represents good luck. Next up, there was a large dish with two types of shrimp on it — Hong Kong Bay Jumbo Shrimp & Walnut Grand Marnier Jumbo Shrimp. The Hong Kong Bay Jumbo Shrimp consisted of flour battered jumbo shrimp sauteed in a garlic sauce topped with garlic chips. The Walnut Grand Marnier Jumbo Shrimp consisted of flour battered jumbo shrimp sauteed with grand marnier infused mayo and topped with candied walnuts. The Peking Duck consisted of pieces of duck with crispy skin, scallion, and hoisin sauce wrapped in a pancake. The Minced Beef and Parsley Chowder aka West Lake Style Soup consisted of a clear broth, egg white, parsley, cilantro, and minced beef. It was lighter than most places that I’ve ordered it. Even though the dish was a bit oily, I liked the softness of the Snow Pea Tips with Jumbo Mushrooms. The Veal Chops and Broccoli in Black Pepper Sauce consisted of very chewy veal chops and broccoli. I didn’t like how the Black Pepper Sauce had a bitter taste to it. The Roasted Chicken — Cantonese Style consisted of a whole roasted chicken, chopped and topped with crunchy, different colored shrimp flavored chips. The Twilight Dragon Sole Imperial consisted of skinless fish filet and mixed vegetables(e.g., asparagus, carrots, snow peas) served on a deep fried fish bone. The fish filet were a bit blander than usual. The Twin Lobster with Ginger and Scallion was so delicious it was gone in 60 seconds… at least at my table. The Buddhist Delight E Fu Noodle consisted of longevity noodles stir-fried with mushroom, baby corn, Chinese broccoli, snow peas, scallion, and oyster sauce. It was quite popular choice among the kids. The House Deluxe Pudding consisted of two types of jello — coconut milk jello and a multi-colored fruit-flavored jello. After dessert, we finished our meal with fortune cookies and moist towelettes!

Had gone there with my friend. They served us the typical crispy fried noodles. I’m Asian and I’m use to the cabbage and peanuts. They were very sweet and gave us all three. For lunch there’s the authentic Chinese menu and the American menu. We had ordered the shredded chicken in thin pan fried noodles along with beef chow fun: dry version. Yes, there’s two styles of beef chow fun dry or wet. Knowing my friend is not used to it wet, we stuck with the dry. All were delicious. Total cost from soup to nuts: $ 13.80. Not a bad lunch deal. Will be back.

Go here for excellent dim sum! The restaurant is clean, the waiters are attentive, the carts come out with fresh, hot, new plates frequently, and the food is excellent. They have these pork buns wrapped in pastry shells which are excellent. Also, their luo bo gaos are made fresh on a cart in front of you! Never had that at another dim sum place before, so I clearly have been missing out. Other notable dishes were the fried little shrimps, calamari, and octopus. There’s a nice little garden to walk around after your meal. Just be sure you get there early on weekends, preferably before 12. Our group got there around 11:45 and there were still plenty of seats and parking. By 12, I saw a huge line of folks waiting for a seat and saw cars circling around and around looking for a parking spot in their lot.

I really really loved it here. The overall vibe of the place is just awesome. The staff is so friendly the ambiance is perfect.(90’s) The outdoor garden and wall of windows really add to the feel of the place. I felt like I could just hang there all day. Food is good too. And the prices??? Oh please $ 20 bucks for two people and we left stuffed. Great place for a large family dinner, they have some huge round tables. Fish tank is awesome too. We will be back anytime we are in the area for sure.
