This place has probably the greatest Chinese takeout in a radius of 10 miles. I eat here ALL the time, and honestly, almost all their offerings are excellent. First of all, the lunch specials are an incredible deal. They come with either white rice or pork fried rice, and there are 20 or so different dishes which vary between 5.25 and 6.25. They always give half of the dish, and half of the rice. The fried rice is pretty good, especially as it is the free«lunch special» variety and is better than many fried rice dishes at other restaurants. These are great, and are available from opening to 3:30PM, though you can probably come a tad bit later. Next, their noodle soups are FANTASTIC. I don’t expect to find excellent noodle soup outside of the city that often, and definitely not at a takeout place, but I after finally taking the plunge and getting one of the wonton noodle soups, they became some of my favorite dishes. When you get it as takeout, they give you the noodles in a separate container and the soup in another. It is just great overall, and the wontons are surprisingly delicious. If you’re not feeling up for lunch specials, there is a HUGE variety of normal dishes to choose from. IMO, this place has probably the best lo mein that I’ve eaten ANYWHERE. It’s got this salty and smokey flavour which is so unique and it isn’t dripping in oil or soy sauce like the lo mein you get at some other places. The chow mai fun and other fried rices are also pretty good, though I don’t usually get them over the lo mein or pan fried noodles, which brings me to my next point. The pan fried noodles are AMAZING. Though the cheapest one, Shredded Pork with Bean Sprouts and Pan Fried noodle, is just OK, since the sauce is kind of salty, the shrimp, seafood, house special, and beef flavors are just amazing. To top it all off, they have these Chinatown style rice dishes which are incredibly authentic and delicious. I especially love the Fish Stew with Bean Curd on Rice for $ 6.25. It is lightly coated fried fish covered in this awesome sauce with some vegetables and fried tofu which is just really good. They have 27 different Chinatown style platters in total, and I’ve probably tried ~12 of them. They are all exceptional and always remind me why I eat here all the time. And for a final little thing which makes me like this place even more, the owners of the restaurant are just really cool people. I don’t usually expect or see much interaction at a Chinese takeout place, but the person at the counter often strikes up conversation and is very friendly. From what I’ve seen for other regulars, he also has a good relationship with them too. Sometimes, if I am a bit short on cash because I forgot to bring my wallet, he has no problem letting me make it up on my next bill. This place is fantastic, and everyone in the area should try it! Oh, and also, they deliver now to any local place which makes it even more convenient than before.

So this is a tale of two restaurants. Lunch time it is very good. For instance the shrimp in lobster sauce had ground pork and a very nice consistency, just like the old days. Dinner time, the sauce had no pork and tasted and looked like vomit. The egg roll were horrible. So for a lunch special I would say this place is acceptable. For dinner, I would run far far away. When it was Island taste(previous owners) the place was great. STAYFARFARAWAY

Island Taste(I think the menu says China Taste) is pretty good. You get a nice portion of food and it seems to be pretty good quality. Nothing about it is too sketchy or makes you think twice about eating it! The food isn’t too greasy and they will make it as you ask. I think it’s worth checking out. They have a good sized menu.

Like Doc B. said, it’s changed. The owners are different, and the food is too. It’s still pretty good, just not as much as before.(They give fortune cookies this time around… the last guy didn’t do that)

This was my favorite local chinese takeout place, but it has changed ownership as well as kitchen staff and has lost a lot of its mojo. The name has changed to China Taste, even though the sign outside has not. The dishes are prepared differently than before, and the quality of some of them seems to have suffered. I would rate this just average, and will probably not go there as much as before. There are a few tables, but not much décor.
