Sadly this business has closed. I went to go to dinner this evening and the hours sign was gone and only a handwritten sign saying business closed remained.

Very nice environment and set up. Lunch specials are good and affordable. We had two special sushi rolls and they were nicely made, very good! Large variety of all sorts of different rolls specials. I would recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere new to eat for sushi.

We went here for the all you can eat $ 29.95 per person. I’ll start off with saying that the place has a nice feel, clean, and has large TV screens hanging on the wall. We ordered soups(miso) and Kani salads. The kani did not taste fresh and was doused in mayo with masago and spice thrown on top. Even some of the cucumbers tasted a little off(perhaps they were over a week old). The sashimi and striped bass appetizers were pretty decent(I think using a collection of sauces poured over the fish is what helped the taste). However, there was nothing mind blowing or melt in your mouth freshness to rave about with either the sashimi or appetizers. Then the sushi came out… since I was starving, at first bite I thought ok this is pretty decent sushi. However, as i bit into a few more rolls, I started realizing how poor the quality was. The crab(imitation) was dry and not fresh. The tempura covered shrimp inside my rolls were missing the shrimp and crunch was stuffed inside as a filler. The rice was not cooked perfectly either. My husbands rolls came out looking very large, but when we examined them inside we found that there were little pockets of soy paper stuffed with rice to make the roll look bigger and use smaller quantities of fish. In addition there were parts of the roll that tasted like tiny ice bits. So i am not sure what was refrigerated for so long that was inside the roll. The taste of my husbands rolls were off and were a huge disappointment despite the initial appearance of these being very large rolls with tons of fish inside and on top(looks were definitely deceiving here). I felt like the sushi rolls we ordered could have been purchased at a buffet and were not freshly made to order by the sushi chefs. Overall, I can not say that this experience was worth the $ 30 a person. I am a huge sushi fan and am very picky about my sushi with taste and especially freshness. I have been to hundreds of sushi restaurants and I know what amazing sushi should taste like. This was unfortunately not it. I would say for those«advanced» sushi eaters, this place will be a disappointment. They also have hibachi so perhaps that is their stronger area? Unfortunately another japanese place is crossed off my list in south jersey. I shall not be returning. I give them 2 stars for decent service, good atmosphere, and the twinkling of hope that the other dishes they serve are not as poor as the sushi. Other than that, a sad disappointment indeed.

**THISREVIEWFORSUSHIONLY** Haven’t been to this location for many years — and the last time we were it was called«Mikado.» Now under new ownership and I must say it’s a tremendous improvement! Hubby, daughter and I dined here in April 2014 and all ordered the«All You Can Eat» Sushi(only available Monday-Thursday for $ 29.95 per person) — which includes select soups/salads, appetizers and anything from the huge sushi/regular menu. That price also gets you one alcoholic beverage from their drink menu(I had an apple martini — YUM!) or a fountain drink w/free refills. Kampachi’s sushi ranks up there as one of the best we’ve ever eaten(and we eat a lot of sushi!). It was fresh, delicious and presented beautifully(see the picture of the giganic«boat» we were presented with — pure awesomeness!!!). The service from our waitress was exceptional, and in addition the owner/manager stopped by our table and answered all of my questions, showed me pictures he’d taken himself of some of the most beautiful plates I’ve ever seen. Really great guy! I read on their Facebook page that they have something called the«Kampachi Club» so I inquired. For a $ 60 annual fee you get 25% off of your check every time you come in(sushi and hibachi) — no matter the size of your party. We totally bought into the«Club» and saved $ 22 last night alone. This was truly an amazing dining experience and we can’t wait to come back!!!

I am still going to Kampachi and it is still great! I have eaten sushi in many places in the area and I highly recommend this place! The sushi is excellent– always fresh– and always presented beautifully. The owner is wonderful and all the staff too. They go out of their way to make your dining experience awesome. We always get sushi except we had a birthday party at the hibachi grill a few months ago. They were very helpful with the cake I brought and even let us bang the gong! We can’t get enough of this place! Check it out!

Place was clean, décor was decent. Food has potential but could use some improvement. For appetizer, I ordered the **Spicy Tuna Tataki**. It was disappointing. Presentation of the dish was beautiful but the balance between the spicy and the sweetness was a little off. There was way too much wasabi. Dish needs to tone down on the wasabi to bring out the taste the tuna and the ponzu sauce. For dinner I got two rolls and chirashi. First ordered the **Out of Control Roll** which I give 4.5 stars for. It was delicious with lots of fresh fish coming together delightfully. I almost wanted to order a second roll of this but decided to try something different. Second roll I tried was the **Incredible Roll**. Again this roll I feel like had potential but lacked in delivery. I think the fish and way it was rolled up was fine but way the roll was deep fried kind of killed the roll. I really recommend the restaurant to try a different batter. The fried dough didn’t have the crispy ending taste that you want and expect. **Chirashi** I felt was odd. I really think it should have been presented in a bowl as it usually is. I was confused as to whether i ordered a plate of sashimi or chirashi. And if you are going to include crab sticks please use a better brand than the ones used. The crabsticks and the tamago really seemed like more on the level of a supermarket. Also I suggest you find some friendlier staff. The waitress could learn be nicer. I asked her for recommendations and she really wasn’t helpful. I felt rushed too. She definitely needs try smiling more. Service wasn’t horrible but just did not feel welcome. Maybe i’ll go back after a few months if i read more favorable reviews.

We had never been here before, but we tried this place on a groupon, and were really surprised. Place is clean, drink was strong, and the food was fantastic. We ordered the love boat sushi/sashimi, seaweed salad, clear soup and miso soup. First and foremost the sushi/sashimi melts in your mouth it’s so good. The quality is definitely the best in the area and the portions were generous. The service was very good, for a moderately busy Friday night. The seaweed salad was good, standard for seaweed salad. The soups were also good. Only MINOR complaint was that there was too much dressing on the regular salad.

Went to this place because I had a groupon. Everything was good until it was time to leave and we saw roaches running across the bar. This was back in September 2013. I hope they did something about it by now. Try at your own risk.

ATTENTION Groupon diners, you MUST present your groupon upon arrival or they will NOTHONOR your groupon. We have never had this issue before in all of the groupons that we have used. Also, they are very particular about which hibachi entrees that you order. Doesn’t matter if you are also ordering drinks, sushi, other appetizers. Even though they are a new restaurant, they are not looking to work with you on this. Celebrating husband’s birthday, party of six and groupon for four… so of course we are ordering additional food that will be an extra cost. Having a fun time, server was nice and Evan our cook was fun, food was fair. Don’t order a mix drink, no alcohol. Then we get our bill, and not allowed to use the Groupon but we can come back and use at another time. NOWAY, we will never come back! Beware!

Did I miss something? How is this place different in ANY way from Mikado? They even have the same staff as they did when they were Mikado. I have reviewed Mikado before, so if you want to know how Kampachi is, just read that because the two are LITERALLY the same thing.

This review is for Sushi ONLY. Wow, I am sorry to break the star streak, but this place is not worth the 5 stars. I have dined at Mikado — Marlton, Yokohama — Maple Shade, and here at Kampachi. Results? Mikado in Marlton is by far the best of the best. First of all, this place DOES receive 5 stars for — attentive and courteous service and excellent clean restrooms! The sushi was«meh.» Why you ask? Well, I dined on the Sushi Lunch Special = $ 8.95 for soup, salad, and 2 rolls.(What a great deal!) The salad had so much dressing, I would have preferred to see my lettuce; the clear soup(I substituted miso for clear) had 2 shredded bean sprouts with an alright flavor; the worse part was the 2 rolls to come. My sushi rolls were Spicy Scallop and Philadelphia roll. Two COMMON rolls.(My fiancé ordered the same thing). The Philadelphia roll came with cream cheese, salmon, and avocado. Avocado?! The roll became so creamy/mushy with 80% avocado/cream cheese to 20% salmon, it did not do justice. The cucumber was missing and definitely needed — where’s the crunch factor? Spicy Scallop Roll with extra spicy mayo/sauce on side. The sauce was so salty, I could barely use it. It lacked definition… was missing something. The spicy scallop had crunch within it. I did not want the crunchy stuff in it. If I did, I would have ordered a special roll with the crunch. I have never ordered spicy scallop that came with crunch inside. Overall, I am surprised it has such great ratings. I would love to have those who reviewed Kampachi travel to the Mikado in Marlton because it is soo much better. Better sushi flavor combinations, more special rolls, and also they will make any custom sushi roll you want.(Mikado in Marlton doesn’t advertise the spicy scallop, however, I always ask them to make it and comes out devine). So far. this place ranks 3rd on my three Sushi restaurants that I have tried in South Jersey. I am sorry, but I will not return for Sushi.

I have been to Kampachi 3 times since it has opened. Twice for dinner and just today I went for lunch. I love this place! They have a great combination of excellent friendly service, a great executive chef, and fantastic dishes. The chef prepares rolls with traditional excellence and also shows his creativity with various fusion inspired flavors. He combines taste and textures as well as anyone.

This place was originally Mikado. I liked it better before the change… basic sushi doesn’t taste/feel the same. but for the price for the bento boxes… i guess i can live with it. will go back to try some specialty rolls.
