I’ve always gone to regular spas/​high end hotel spas to get massages but haven’t been able to find a masseuse that suits my needs… they’ve always been mediocre or just straight up terrible. Unfortunately I am one of those Groupon whores and will indulge myself in getting a massage at a «nice salon,» thinking I am getting such a good deal because of the price…
Well, then I came to Renew Body Wellness and I forever will no longer be going to those Groupon spa places for my massages. I had a wonderful experience here and the massage was the best I’ve ever had!!! I have extreme back pain just from the everyday struggle of living in NYC (aka walking while carrying 5 – 10 lb groceries, gym bag, + handbag all day everyday) and this male masseuse was able to get all my knots out! He really worked his ass off — I mean hands off, using hand techniques I’ve never received at «nice salons.» Also, I am a huge fan of a good butt massage (with the towel over it) because I definitely have big butt muscles that needs a good massage!
This place was very busy for a Friday night but also not surprising since everyone needs a relaxing massage after a long work week! You can not beat the price of $ 40 for a one hour massage — plus you get a free additional 15 minutes if you check in on Unilocal!With the price of $ 40, I can now afford to get a massage every 2 weeks!
They ask if you prefer male or female… personally I prefer a male because they have unbelievable strength but I’m sure the women are amazing too!
If you pay in cash, you don’t have to be charged for tax! ATM inside though fyi.
CON: There are no partitions in the rooms so you can hear everything… luckily, the customers were not loud. Mainly you are hearing the «chopping massage» which can get loud but they’re just doing their job!
After 2 years of living in Manhattan, I have finally found my go to place for massages!!!

My boyfriend and I decided to go get a massage for our anniversary (last minute). Since my usual place wasn’t open till late, we opt for this place. We had the couples room, the two ladies we had were fun to have a conversation with, but they talked to damn much, wish I understood there language to know what was so damn funny that they had to babble on and on. Besides, the masseuse I had she took direction pretty well, and she always checked on me to make sure I was good. For my boyfriend, the masseuse he had was good as well but she kept flirting a little with him guess she really didn’t care his girlfriend was laying right there and she really wanted a tip (just an assumption) Since my massage was good, it took my mind of her antics as long as she wasn’t getting super disrespectful. Besides that people, it was an average spa palor, it was worth the money, the place was somewhat peaceful little bit of noise hear and there but nothing to go nuts over, I will visit again despite the two shorty’s babbling, I like to give chances on some things next time I will have a different masseuse and I write another review as well. Also forgot to mention, the host he was very pleasant and save a spot for us since it was really a last minute thing. Oh yeah, one more they don’t hound you for a tip which is good cause I hate that s***

I enjoyed the massage and will be coming back. One of the best massages I have had in this price range. Highly recommend. A little sketchy at first, but all in all, a great place.

The massage was great. But they charged me nearly 70 dollars for an hour massage. Bad karma folks.

It’s a really nice place to spend some extra time after work. All staffs are nice and the place is clean and organized. I will recommend this place to orthers.

Wow!!! Best 2 hours of my life. Thankful my friend brought me here, now I can’t imagine not getting hooked with this place. $ 40 !!! for an hour long full body massage with hot stones at the end (Li Li was amazing with easing up on the pressure since I’m not great with reflexology or strong pressure). $ 25 !!! for an hour long relaxing foot massage in the comfiest reclining chairs. Nicest service I’ve ever had considering how busy this place was. Tipping even 30% was easy since the bill is so cheap and well deserved by the masseuse I had throughout the experience.
Won’t be long before I book another appointment.
Perfect for those who work long excruciating hours during the work week — Renew’s hours are extremely convenient!!! And open til 1am on weekends? Ummm hello date night! Haha!

A great spot for an affordable massage and usually my go-​to spot after particularly stressful weeks (for a full body massage) or a vacation (for a foot massage, or reflexology, after walking everywhere). I recommend making a reservation before going, unless you’re a super spontaneous massage-​seeker and don’t mind waiting, although they have a crazy amount of staff so I’m sure they can squeeze you in. Make an appointment for you and a friend? Expect a couple’s room. Uncomfortable with that? I’m sure they’ll accommodate you!

You get what you pay for. The massage isn’t bad, but it’s not great. The place is a bit crowded and disorganized, but they handle everything professionally. For $ 40, you are getting a great deal, but if you want a really good massage, I would go elsewhere. It’s worth the $ 40, I’ll leave it at that. There is also an expectation for a $ 10 tip, so this massage really costs you $ 50 in the end. Still a good deal.

This place is such a good place to unwind after college finals. Second time here & the second time was wayyyyy better than the first time. I came with my boyfriend & wanted to get a couple room. We were asked to wait but I didn’t mind. They said the wait was 25 minutes & offer the single rooms but we insisted on getting the couple room. They offered us water while we were waiting. We use the extra 15 minute promotion on their website. Finally we got to our room & it was such a pleasant experience. Our masseuses were Coco and Zoey (I think). I didn’t know which masseuse I had because I didn’t personally ask for their names. The one I had was wearing stripes. I felt so relaxed throughout the whole 75 minutes. I loved the hot stone that they offer. My boyfriend said he has a lot of knots & she got rid of all of them. Definitely coming back next time after a stressful month!

I had an hour to kill in the neighborhood before meeting some friends, and thought a massage would be a good way to pass the time, so logged into Unilocal to find a cheap massage nearby. I picked Renew over one of the other well-​reviewed spots on the street because it’s on the second floor, so you’re not visible from the street. I opted for a one hour foot massage and it was great. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever had a foot massage put me to sleep (I’m sure the super reclined lazyboy chair helped). The woman who did my massage had strong hands but the massage wasn’t painful the way reflexology can sometimes be. The pressure was just right.
The space is not super relaxing since it’s right by the door (sometimes the cold air blows in) and across from the reception area (where the phone is always ringing), so definitely bring your headphones, but $ 24 for an hour is totally worth it. I’d go out of my way to come back here again, although I think I was super lucky to get a chair as a walk-​in — this place is really busy.

I really hurt my foot yesterday. I mean really really. Barely wanted to go to lunch so I could stay off of it. I knew from my walk to work that there was a foot reflexology spa close by and decided to hobble over afterwork.
The place is really unassuming. Up on the second floor, the massage chairs thinly veiled with a narrow walkway to the actual massage rooms — I was wondering what I had walked into. But I was immediately pleasantly surprised with how hospitable and efficient the crew was.
I opted for the 45 min Crystal Mud foot massage with a 15 min chair massage (ended up tacking on 10 extra mins because I’m that much of a hot mess) with an amazing masseuse named James. He kept it super real with me and mentioned that I should take better care of my feet/​legs/​body/​life and gave me some tips on what to do at home.
Something that I noticed was how busy the place was. I mean it was swarming with people. While at times distracting, it really spoke to the quality of work they do there because people keep on coming back. I will be no different.
I only found out about the Unilocal deal afterward but I really didn’t mind paying for such great service. Highly recommend!

So one of my best mates suggested this place. And let me tell you I take his word on most things this just sealed the deal for good. I work in an office environment… wait just skip to it I work in finance in NYC that should explain why I needed a massage. Sadly I had been shrugging my shoulders and my ankles were coming up to my knees so I was in dire need of getting a massage. For $ 40 bucks that’s not even two drinks and tip in the city so I took the train south of my real life and went to Renew.
The massage I got here was better than any 4seasons, five star, fancy pants place I’ve ever over paid for ever. For 90 minutes she worked out knots I did not even know I had (left butt cheek was something serious) until she found them and smooth them out. It was painful at first because I was super tense but once those little magic fingers did some rubbing it felt so good. As I’m typing this review I’m thinking of going tomorrow.
If you don’t need frills but you need magic for your muscles take the journey trust these reviews.

Don’t crowd this place just because of my stellar review– please go at odd hours on weekdays so I can keep this place for myself, wait-​free. Thanks.
One rainy Saturday, I was waiting for my friends for a beloved brunch (one in particular who’s perpetually late…) and used a random awning for protection as I am also perpetually without an umbrella despite weather warnings.
This one particular awning was the entrance leading up to… run-​down stairs. I can’t tell you how many times I had to shove myself up against the wall so people could walk past. It was perplexing.
Curiosity got the best of me, so after brunch we headed up these mysterious stairs to find people reclined in la-​z-​boy chairs, eyes closed, with plaid, fuzzy blankets draped over their laps.
We were sold with: 30 min foot massage + 30 min back massage for $ 35.
I’ll pause to let you freak out a little *** what? Cheap! Yay!
Tips:
— I’ve walked in many a times, but many call ahead for appointments to be sure (especially if you want a full body massage).
— Bring some headphones so you can listen to music on your phone since the foot massages take place in the entrance hallway (think a long row of la-​z-​boys of relaxed people in their zones).
— Most chair back massages/​foot massages take place in a public setting. I think full body massage are private rooms but I’m not sure. You could inquire. I would personally only go for the feet/​back massages. It’s what they’re good at and you don’t have to really worry about cleanliness and other questionable practices.
This ain’t a high class establishment so don’t expect French Bulldogs dressed in suits to hand you a champagne flute as you enter. You’ll leave relaxed and happy so isn’t that what really matters?

Wow my new spot to go too! I came over her tonight with my husband, we normally go next door to taiji body works I told her we are coming any how she messed up! So we came over here to try it! Wow it was so good it’s very clean and they wear uniform and they are so friendly!
I had nancy husband had kelly he said she was very good so was nancy I would recommend them! Can’t go wrong and can’t beat the price!

It’s a clean, cute, and cozy place. They will definitely get those knots off your back! Don’t underestimate those slim women! If you ask for strong… you’re going to feel like they had beat you down later on in the day. But the next day you will feel great! Magicccc

Great value — solid massage — honest people — good for a quick fix — wade in relaxation at Washington square park after.

This is a standard issue massage parlor with somewhat questionable cleanliness (standard in most of these places), strong handed workers, and cheap price. You pay for your services so there is a semi-​private suite of «rooms» with just enough space for you and the masseuse. I’ve had a couple massages in this particular place and one occurred in the back of the nail salon. They were both ok for walking in and knowing that I would be only paying the $ 39 offering price. But I don’t get the rave reviews. If you do your research and get around there are much better, cleaner places to get rubbed.
My verdict is this place is good in a hurry. If you want something cleaner, pay more or go to somewhere brand new.

*** Cheap massages, Walk-​in friendly, Great service ***
I love this place. Not only is it cheap, but you can get an additional 15 minutes to your hour long massage (see their website and/​or Unilocal deal). You don’t need a reservation for this place either. The rooms are separated by a sheet so you can hear people talking, alarms occasionally going off, etc.; so if you’re not into that, that’s something to reconsider. You also have the option for a male or female masseuse. Lastly, you can get a stamp card to accumulate towards a free massage. They offer foot massages, other forms of body massages, etc.

I walked into Renew with very high hopes for my feet. After all, my good friend has been touting this place for months and cheating on my longtime regular foot massage joint, ShunFa, was a big step in my life, a moral dilemma fraught with not a little guilt and a sense of wrongdoing.
The ambiance and amenities are, without a doubt, five stars, especially on a curve with other qi gong/​reflexology/​Asian massage parlors. They have spacious digs on the second floor, with multiple modern foot massage chairs (seating ~10 people by my count) and, I would imagine, similarly nice body massage cabins toward the back. The chairs have leatherish upholstery and come with cup-​holders, so you can put your overpriced Stumptown coffee or bubble tea before fully reclining (that’s right, the chairs go all the way back).
When my masseuse came out, he put my feet into the familiar tub of water and rinsed them before getting to work. He then covered me with a blanket for ultimate renewal/​relaxation (there’s also a pillow on every chair). Narcoleptics beware – you WILL doze off if you get too close to 180 degrees (I speak from past experiences). Then you can read your book, play on your phone, or indulge in one of the many conveniences of modern bourgeoisie life while the attendant works you over.
To summarize, to this point, I was very impressed with Renew’s focus on service and experience. However, with all due respect to my masseuse, he just didn’t make the grade for me. I usually give the benefit of the doubt when it’s someone new for me, but either it was his style, or sheer exhaustion from working all day (totally understandable), it just didn’t really didn’t click for me. There was very little digging, and most of the rubbing was in the ankle and shin areas, not the soles and bottom parts that I love. I asked him to go harder after about 10 minutes, but the change was barely noticeable. Maybe I asked too sheepishly and should have made it clearer that I «like it rough.» Anyway, he was a very nice, hardworking man, but I would try someone else next time, perhaps.
For now, I think I’m going to stick with ShunFa, which is admittedly not as well appointed or as luxurious as Renew, but the foot massage is more to my liking and the staff is extra-​friendly. Based on the many great reviews this place has received, I’m sure there are many skilled masseuses on staff at Renew and I’d be willing to give it another go in the future.
