i dislike giving 2 stars but this I have to…
The Negative:
1. Never got a confirmation email about my online order (this is 2days after i ordered)
2. Called 3x because the phone doesn’t ring so i kept thinking it wasn’t going through until i heard someone speaking on the other line after the 3^rd time i tried.
3. Only then did i find out that the item i ordered was discontinued and out of stock.
4. Seems to be a very disorganized store especially if they cannot even update their online shop or send a confirmation email about your order. As much as i would like to order something else from them, i’m a little weary about it since i don’t know if it’s even available.
The positive:
1. Person I spoke with was pleasant enough.
2. Item was refunded the same day I called.

Pen was at a good price but i suspect the pen was used and refurbished, the envelope it was in was enclosed in tan duct tape and I received the medium point pen instead of the fine point pen i requested.

They’ll never get my business. A lot of pen sellers are only operating online, but I wanted to speak to a professional and see a range of items in the flesh. I called ahead asking if they were open and had the range I was after. I was assured they did. I travelled all the way from queens only to be met with a tiny shop with none of the range i requested on display at all. And no expert advice. I was made to research the serial numbers for the pens in the shop to make it easier for the person upstairs to find them then I was rushed to make my decision. Then try didn’t have anything like what I was after in stock. Ty could have made a few hundred dollars’ sale. Unacceptable. This is terrible treatment. Quick to say I don’t know. Quick to rush. Quick to apologise. Absolutely no desire or knowledge to help.

Great selection of Uni-​ball pens (still made in Japan) and refills. A lot of the pens are sold as singles and you can try them out. The owner is cool. He’s happy to special order pens for you if he can.

I was satisfied with the direct customer service provided by the staff, but shocked and horrified at the way one store staff treated another. It was with an utter lack of respect or patience that one shop staff barked orders and insults at the other. No one should ever treat anyone the way I saw the staff there treat the person who was working for them. I will never shop there again.

These guys are pretty good. The shop is kind of over filled with stuff, and the hours are a bit limited, but I keep going back. I always pay a few dollars more than Staples, but the service is worth it. The owner had a box of amazing Parker pens (unpackaged for some reason) and let me upgrade the ink cartage for free. Best pen I have ever owned, I bought three so far and I won’t write anything without them. I got a couple of Moleskine notebooks as well. Again, a dollar or two more than what I would pay at Staples but they somehow seem to have everything. The quantities are bizarre though. He had like –cases of the strangest ink refills and only one of something I expected him to have dozens of. I guess they do lots of business to business work.
I couldn’t get over to the LES the other day, so I went to Pearl Paints to get a refill for my favorite pen and came up empty handed with a Rotring substitute that really sucks.
Okay, I just googled it and Montgomery comes up at the top of the search and is somehow actually cheaper than Office Depot. Pity they aren’t open on Sunday and I don’t have the patience to wait for shipping. Anyway, I guess their web business explains the strange quantities and chaotic store. I totally forgive them.

I found a hard to find pencil from Caran d’Ache Office pencil at Montgomery. Delivery was fast. Will bookmark this site for future orders.

Fine pens, fair prices, excellent service — for about five years I’ve been buying Montgomery Pens — they make unusual, personal gifts commonly unavailable elsewhere. Recommended highly.

Montgomery Pens was the only place that still carried the Pilot EasyTouch NON-​retractable pens in many different colors (blue, black, red, green, and purple). They provided excellent service and the delivery was very quick. The price was also very reasonable.

Montgomery had the best price on the pen I wanted, their site was easy to navigate, and they had it to me overnight. Nice!
