When looking for simple and cheap food without traveling a long distance, there is always the option of the halal cart. Luckily, there’s one right outside my building. This halal cart is similar to all the other ones in the city. For $ 5, you get your usual chicken and rice. The kicker here is that you can have the option of regular rice, and spicy rice. Oh the madness right? This halal cart isn’t always on the corner of 37th and 10th. I haven’t really figured out its hours, but it’s definitely there from time to time. Taste-wise, it wasn’t bad at all. I mean for $ 5, and 30 seconds of travel time, I can’t really complain. Then again, it’s not the best I’ve had either. Need a quick bite if you’re around the area like the Javits Center? Then there’s always the halal cart to save the day.

A shiny new Halal cart opened up on the corner of 37th and 10th Avenue. I think it’s the same guy that’s always been here, but in a new cart. Either way, it’s simply average Halal food at best. The Good: + The lamb is tasty. The Meh: o The rice is plentiful and not very tasty. o Not a lot of meat for $ 5 – 6 Halal cart fare. o The white sauce isn’t as good as other carts. The Not-so-good: — Pig-sty grill area. Not very clean at all. — I’ve eaten here twice, and both times the bottom of the container was covered in grease/splattered meat product/white sauce/unknown vegetable matter. It’s a pain in the ass. — Chicken is BLAND. — Falafel are super dry. When I have my random street-meat craving, I’ll be sure to walk up a few extra blocks to the cart on 42nd and 10th.
