Just stopped in while in the hood. Nice people, clean, place. Lots of different pizzas by the slice plus real food too. Had a few plain slices. Excellent tasty pizza.

Surprisingly high-quality for quick slice of pizza or an Italian meal. I had a chicken parm slice, and the chicken itself tasted very fresh and was cooked well — a rare thing in pizza-by-the-slice places!

I’ve come here a lot in the years I’ve been at Hunter. Like, a lot. The men who work here are super friendly and I’ve had my share of free Pepsi(Pepsiiii!!!). The pizza is hit or miss. I feel that whenever I ask for 2 slices the pizza isn’t that good. I don’t usually go for a regular slice, I splurge for the fresh mozzarella slice or square pie and I must say that it could be tastier. I don’t know what it is, but I believe it is the sauce. There just isn’t much flavor. The days are hit or miss, I will tell you that. The place has an expansive courtyard that is really nice to sit in when the weather is nice. I like to perch right behind the oven because I am cold blooded. A nice respite from Hunter if you want to get away. Almost always busy but not too crowded.

From the outside it looks like a little to-go pizza place with limited seating, but they actually have a lot of room and a beautiful outside area with many extra seats. Was surprised in a very good way and really enjoyed my pizza outside in the heart of Manhattan.

Delicious, quick, and the place itself is very clean. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and in a neighborhood with not a lot of options around late at night. Highly recommended.

I was in the neighborhood and needed to get a cheap and quick bite to eat and found this pizzeria on Unilocal.I read all the bad reviews, but thought to myself«how bad could it be?». Well, the answer; pretty bad. I think I only finished about half a slice before I threw the rest away. And the garlic knots were terrible too. It’s very rare that I throw out food(specially when I’m hungry), but I just didn’t like the pizza here. They also have a limited amount of seating. It was crowded during lunch and took a long time to find a seat.

This place has gotten a bit of a facelift recently and the pizza is solid. For the good weather days they have a nice outside seating area in the back. Nice and quite. The pizza is good. The crust is just crispy enough so the slice will stay firm if you are holding just the crust. Nice topping options every time I come. Def worth a try or a visit if you get a pizza craving nearby.

I walked into this pizza place one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice. They have a nice outdoor seating area that is situated between residential buildings. It was an interesting little discovery in a corner of NYC. The pricing of the food was on the higher end for a pizza place, but the service and variety of options to choose from made up for it. The first time I ordered the cashier didn’t charge me for my drink, which was a nice gesture and factored into me going back.

Better service at the DMV. My girlfriend and I used to come here every time we were in the City. However, the last time we went made us never want to go back. There was no one waiting on line behind us and so we asked a question regarding how much toppings were on a pizza because we did not see it on the sign. One of the workers, possibly the owner who works behind the counter, took one of the pamphlets and threw it at us and made some sort of unintelligible grunting sound. Perhaps he was trying to communicate something to us. Instead of simply telling us, you had to use dramatics to offend us. Hope you’re happy that not only did you lose 2 customers, but also the rest of my family who makes regular visits to NYC and before this event, my favorable word of mouth reviews of your establishment. Oh, and please disregard that fact that customer service can be a differentiating factor in New York’s under-supplied pizza market. Please, its not like there are over 1000 pizza serving establishments in New York.

I was in the neighborhood so I stopped in for a couple of slices. A Grandma and a White. Not the best, not the worst, just a okay. With a Snapple Iced Tea it was almost $ 10. They do have a huge outdoor seating area in the backyard though.

Ordered on Grubhub… Took over an hour and a half for a small«Mexican» pizza, which was lukewarm by the time it got to me anyways. Super thin crust, would’ve been nice if I had known that before ordering. Pizza was mediocre tasting, really uninspiring flavor(ground beef and bell peppers). Next time I feel like ordering in, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

I mean hey, it’s New York. Hard to get a shitty slice. I opted for a chicken cutlet with tomato and it did the trick. What else could I ask for? Small, friendly joint with interesting banter between the multi-national staff.

I ordered the penne over meat sauce. The meat sauce wasn’t very flavorful. The dish came with half a loaf of bread and butter. The bread wasn’t heated up. For $ 10 it wasn’t an awful meal but I definitely could have better food in regards to the flavor. The penne did come in a huge portion though. One dish could fill two hungry people easily. I would say come into this establishment with a hungry stomach and you won’t be disappointed. If you come in here expecting an authentic Italian meal, this is probably not your joint.

LUNCHDELIVERYREVIEW It’s not too bad for a quick fix during lunch but they put too much oil on top. It’s hard to find pizzerias who do personalized brick oven baked pizzas so that kinda gives them some kind of an edge I suppose. I got the pepperoni. The crust was over baked. I like my crust crunchy not hard. I would like to think they over baked it to compensate for the fact that the crust would get soggy from the delivery but I have a feeling that might be giving them too much credit. In any case, I didn’t hate it. The pepperoni hit the spot even though the rest of the pizza was just okay. Also needed to soak up some of the excess oil on top.

Surprised to see this place got low stars… hmmm… Ordered a plain slice w/extra cheese and it was simply H.E.A.V.E.N. Crispy crust, ooey gooey cheese — just like how a New York pizza supposed to taste. When my slice warmed up, the gentleman even brought out the slice to my seat. I’d definitely come back — great place if in the neighborhood and want a quick bite!

Good for a drunk mediocre slice or two before heading home, nothing more. Not that I have ever done this before. I think. Maybe I have but was too drunk to remember. Oh, who am I kidding, of course I have! I do remember burning the roof of my mouth on two slices of volcanic hot pizza here. Place is a basic pizza joint. Looks clean with plenty of seating. Good for the occassional slice when passing by or stumbling home in the early morning hours and you really don’t care what you shove in your mouth. Not much more to say. When you are drunk all pizza tastes good.

Looks and sounds better than it tastes. It’s really greasy and isn’t fresh. The pizza doesn’t look good before and after they heat it up. Don’ t waste your money on expensive pizza that will make your stomach rumble.

You can do much better if you’re looking for NY style pizza on the UES. I’ve been here several times for a quick slice, as its right around the corner from my apartment. The pizza is average at best. Not super flavorful and the crust is often too crunchy/crispy. Something’s not right there. My biggest harp is the staff. Last time I went, one of the guys was clearly sick and coughing his brains out. I tried avoiding him, but he hopped in at the last second and served my pizza up to go(no gloves, of course). I had already paid and was in a rush, so I didn’t say anything. I ended up tossing it after walking a couple blocks. I was thoroughly grossed out. This type off haphazard service is typical at ES Brick Oven. The one upside is that it has a nice, outside seating area in the back. Its very pleasant on a cool summer night. All in all, I don’t recommend East Side Brick Oven Pizza. Walk a few blocks in any direction and you’ll find a better pizza option on the UES. Rays on Lexington btwn 62nd and 63rd or Mariella’s on 60th btw 2nd and 3rd to name a couple.

Friendly, quick staff. The pizza, if not fresh from the oven, is basically mediocre. Same goes fro the garlic knots. Good amount of seating.

I have a new favorite pizza place in my neighborhood. This little restaurant is a great find. I had a veggie slice with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, onions, and mushrooms. The crust was a perfect mix of soft and crispy, and the toppings were fabulous. My boyfriend had a slice with loads of fresh peppers. Equally good. This place is a great location, and the prices are right. It’s my new go-to place for a quick slice. There’s lots of seating room, and the place is clean(and warm on a cold night!) The staff is really friendly, to boot. Check it out!
